The Cold War was a series of proxy wars fought between the US led West bloc and the USSR led Eastern bloc. The "war" lasted from 1947-1991 with the collapse of the communism in the Eastern bloc. This rp will take place in the early years of the Cold War, 1947-1975 when the technology that defined the era was being born and/or refined.

I have two scenarios that might be done, a Berlin Blockade gone hot or 50's-60's Europe invasion.

I'm always up for anything aviation based, as it's too damn rare to begin with. If jets are a possibility, then I'm definitely in. I also love the idea of a 'Cold War Gone Hot', and fighting the Russians as they roll across Europe.

Ofc, jets are a possibility, we had the F-80, F-86, and F-84 in service by 1950.

Cool cool. I guess it depends when you set it - if you set it mid-50's then it leaves a lot of opportunities. And there's a lot of non-US aircraft to choose from as well, even if we're not playing the Eastern Bloc. I'm from England, and I'd love to pilot a Hawker Hunter, or a Sea Vixen, and they're only two of the options.

Sabres are awesome. I've seen one at an airshow before, and it was a beautiful sight. Also, if you like the Sabre, read 'The Hunters' by James Salter, if you haven't already. It's a semi-autobiographical account of his time as a pilot in the Korean War.

We could do the 50's since that's when the first AAMs were entering service and we have a lot of options in aircraft choices.

Also, there's a lot of interesting stuff in the first generation. It's not just limited to Meteors, Sabers and Thunderjets.

Even if I think the Thunderstreak is one of the better looking jets of the era.
