Typical day. Sun was out. Blinds were down. Speakers on. Music playing. Thane was sprawled out across the second couch in the cabin, a leg along the back of the couch, his head resting on the arm rest, an arm being used as a pillow while the other held a book against his chest. He was reading The Stars My Destination for the third time now. It was a masterpiece in Science Fiction, but the part that drew Thane in every time was the unrelenting passion of Foyle. Thane had always been a sucker for raw emotion, even in the case of Gulliver Foyle whose obsession with revenge completely consumed him. His routine had been rather set in stone as of late. Roll out of bed, eat whatever snack item he found first, grab a fresh book, crash on the couch and power read through and then do whatever it was Erin wanted to do for the day. Passivity was his policy, not that there was much he would've seen worth doing in this camp. It had never really been his style.

Bowie's Moonage Daydream poured out of the stereo like honey, Thane instinctively singing along softly as his eyes drifted across the pages of his book. Life wasn't particularly hard for the non-counselor children of the big three, at least that was the impression Thane had. No one really asked him for anything and he never offered. Perhaps someone running the camp had heard about what he had done to his mother and grandfather. He had explained to someone that seemed relatively important what had happened and that this place seemed to be his only alternative to living on the street. Maybe someone took pity on him or maybe there just wasn't all that much that was asked of folks here. Only things Thane had any stock in here were himself and his cabin mate, the daughter of Hades herself.

His first impression of the girl wasn't all that positive. He remembered going to sleep thinking that she was a grade A bitch. As they got to know one another, he got to see more of her real self, a side he really grew to care for. He wanted to help her, but wasn't all that sure how. Friendships were a new enough concept for him, helping someone recover from years of emotional damage was something way beyond his skill, so he just went with whatever seemed right. It seemed to be working, she seemed to be softening up, her wall breaking down a bit. "Okay, so watch your back... Keep out of trouble, & before I forget; stay out of my way..." Ok, so progress wasn't moving forward, but it wasn't exactly moving backwards. Was it?

Thane thumbed to the last page of his daily novel, hearing footsteps make their way to the front door as if on cue. The music jumped to Spirit in the Sky by Norman Greenbaum, Thane wiggling his foot to the guitar as he mouthed the lyrics, his thumb riding along the the lines in the book. He dropped the book onto his chest as the door opened up, his cabin-mate stepping in. She seemed surprised to find him in the same spot he was everyday, for whatever reason he couldn't guess. He stared at her flatly, knowing full well what kind of job she did welcoming all the new demigods. "What? I did my job, I gave them the run down..." She started, trying to make an excuse. Stare. "Oh, don't look at me like that..." Staaaaare. "Fine! I'm going, I'm going..." Staaaaaaaaaaaare. She turned, he grinned and gave her a little wave goodbye, before getting up. He slid into the pair of sneakers waiting for him in front of the couch, tossing the book onto the couch seat as he hopped up, shoving his bandaged hand into his pocket.

He said nothing to her, figuring Erin knew that he was going to follow her out. He always did. He didn't bother going for a jacket as he made his way to the door, he was comfortable in his jeans and Jurassic Park t-shirt and some cool air would do him a world of good after being inside for the past few hours. "See ya fluffers," Thane said softly, ruffling the cat's fur with his hand as he passed by, feeling it knead its head into his palm. He emerged from the cabin and swung the door closed behind him, moving in to take the spot just behind and to the right of Erin. With just a t-shirt on, his heavily bandaged arm was completely visible and it was already pulling a quite a few stares. He just rolled his eyes at the new kids and shifted his weight from foot to foot, letting Erin run the show. He was just along for the ride.

Faris Ecklan stood with crossed arms, eyeing everyone else with a skeptical gaze. Stupid, Weak, Aw I Bet She Still Sleeps With A Stuffed Animal she mentally assigned opinions and first impressions to the others she was being herded around with like cattle. She had calmed down on the plane after throwing just a fit they told her it was jail or just going along with this. She had agreed, after all it was a first class ticket and she could have champagne on the way to this God forsaken place. She was even tempered currently, like the air before a storm, full of electric energy but storing it for an explosion sometime later. Her dark eyes still despised everyone and everything for bringing her here, but it was, after all, better than prison (hopefully).

Faris sighed heavily while the bitch who was leading them around spoke, twisting her long thick, brown hair around a couple fingers and thinking how her ‘cabin’ better have a stocked fridge and satin sheets or she was throwing a fit again. She felt a little awkward around these others, some looking rather meek or hopelessly optimistic, standing there herself in jeans shorts, a loose black designer sweater, and tattoos covering her legs. How was she going to fit in with these people?

Oh right. They were all children of gods. She tried not to snort at the thought, completely having lost interest in whatever the ‘bla, bla, bla’ chick was saying. Sure she was pissed off all the time and had no idea who her dad was, but Ares God of War? She wasn’t sure she believed it. She had a hard time believing in ‘gods’ who were worse than most humans in their behaviors. Seriously. But she’d play along and stay here. After all, it was a break from her mother’s bitching and maybe there were some other ‘children of Ares’ she could fight with for funsies.

Faris tuned back in just in time to hear ‘Punishments around here suck’ which made her laugh as the girl slipped inside. She’d love to see them try and punish her here. With a sigh, her crossed arms moved and her hands rested on her hips. She was about to walk off and just do whatever the hell she wanted, when the girl came back out and asked if there were questions. “Yeah, what’s your problem? I didn’t ask for a tour, I didn’t even ask to come here, so why let us waste your time?” she asked, narrowing her eyes and pursing her lips, hands still pressed to the top of her shorts in a defiant stance.

It was like static, a swirl of grey-blue smoke centered on the tips of his fingers. The air hummed around him, his skin glowed, and for a split second, he could see the outlines of the veins and muscles in his fingers. Then the mist faded and died, taking with it the blue glow and the thin bubble he had conjured around himself. Gaspard tried to ignore the smell of brimstone hanging in the air, as he scrawled his findings down in near-unintelligible writing.

'Mana Field sustained for 5 minutes, 16 seconds.'

Carelessly tossing the ballpoint pen aside, Gaspard gave his fingers an experimental flex. He'd had no idea just how much work went into learning magic. He had been expecting something Harry Potter-esque, a swish-and-flick, and voila, a fireball up your ass! Instead, it had taken him almost a whole week to sustain the spell a for solid five minutes and a bit. He was making decent progress though, better than he'd be doing on his own, at least. Camp Half-Blood was certainly an improvement over that dusty, old orphanage.

Scanning over the Ancient Greek inscriptions one last time, he made an elaborate hand gesture over the leather-bound grimoire. Barely a second later, the book slammed shut with a resounding thump, iron clasps locking into place. Runes etched on the surface of the book glowed a faint violet, assuring that no one apart from Gaspard would be able to open it. Stowing the tome back underneath his bed, he suddenly remembered something. The camp was getting some new arrivals today, wasn't it? Hopefully, this was going to be interesting.

When he exited the stone cabin, Gaspard felt a fresh breeze flow through the air. He wasn’t some crazy, agoraphobic recluse, but as soon as the wind whipped his hair into an unruly mess, he immediately regretted leaving the cabin in the first place. Thankfully, he was always prepared for such a situation. Fishing a rubber hair-tie out of his pants pocket, Gaspard quickly pulled his dark locks into a ponytail before it got even more out of hand. As he gave himself a quick once-over, he realised that his outfit was a tad ridiculous. With his blinding, psychedelic-printed muscle tee, washed-out jeans, ratty sneakers, and jangly, beaded accessories; Gaspard wagered he look like a cross between a hippie and a circa 2007 scene kid. He had half a mind of going back inside and changing, but the thought was pushed to the back of his mind when he saw something out of the corner of his eye.

Following the movement, the son of Hecate noticed a sizeable crowd huddled near the Hades cabin. For a split second, Gaspard was unsure as to who these people were, but then it clicked. Ah, must be the fresh meat. He took his first step towards them, crooking an eyebrow in amusement when he heard a voice resonating above all the rest. Gaspard wasn’t quite close enough to clearly make out what the voice was saying, but it sure as hell didn’t sound pleased. At that very moment, he began plotting. Not anything sinister, of course, just some mostly harmless pranks. Messing with people was one of the great joys in his life, and he wasn’t going to pass up a chance to give the newcomers a proper welcome.

Gaspard slowed to a stop just a few feet away from where the group was, leaning against a wooden post as he surveyed the gaggle of teenagers. He had to suppress a scoff when he saw who the “tour guide” was. Erin Chase; the infamous Skeleta, Justice, daughter of Hades, etcetera, etcetera… How they got her to agree to show the new kids around was beyond him. Instead of silently judging everyone like he always did, the demigod decided to change it up for once, just to keep things interesting.

“Having fun?” Gaspard asked the Counseler. It was a rhetorical question, but mostly good-willed with just the barest hint of mockery. The look on her face was already answer enough.

"Venny you better be good, at this camp, if I hear you blew something up, or destroyed something, on purpose, I'll kick your ass." Venny was in the car with his mother, driving to, Camp Half-Blood. What kind of idiot named this camp? Venny wasn't having a great time, at learning who his real father was, The Great God Of War Ares. Venny was half listening to his mother, and playing with his enchanted necklace, that turned into a sword when Venny wanted it to. That was the only cool thing about this whole father being a god, and having to go to camp for gods' and goddesses' bastard kids. "I heard you already, I won't...I promise." Venny's mother just sighed, knowing that Venny was lying. He just liked to cause trouble, and be in charge. He gets it from his father, he guesses. His mother got to the forest edge, "Ok this is where I have to go, and please...try to be good." Venny's mother hugged him, Venny got out the car, grabbed his bags and went towards the camp.

When he got there, he saw a couple of other people near the front office. He walked over to where they were. He was welcomed, sort of by, some goth looking chick. She said she was Erin Chase, daughter of Hades. She looked like that would be her father, Venny started to laugh. She kept talking about different things, he didn't care about them, until he heard her say, "...Oh, the training arena is where you'll most likely find Ares kids..."That is where Venny would be, all the time. She walked away, but a few minutes later, she came back out, even madder then before. Then some guy came out with, a bandage arm. She asked if anyone had any questions, "Yeah I do, I'm Venice Gorga, or Venny son of Ares...I guess, what is wrong with that dude's arm, to much jerking off to alien and fairy posters?!" Venny started to laugh, other kids started to laugh too, ok I think I can hang with some of these people, he noticed that a girl, was calling out Erin. “Yeah, what’s your problem? I didn't ask for a tour, I didn't even ask to come here, so why let us waste your time?” Venny thought she was funny, she kinda acted like him, I guess jerkiness ran in the Ares bloodline.

Amara stood in the back of the group of newcomers, listening as the older grumpy girl gave a tour of the camp; she didn’t know how she really felt about this place yet. On one hand she got to learn more about herself and feel closer to her mother Demeter here, on the other she was unhappy with the fact that she had to leave her dad, grandma, and horse Periwinkle behind. She had never gone a day without her family, nor a night not sleeping in her own bed. She would miss the old floral wallpapers, creaky wooden floors, peeling yellow siding, mismatched furniture, smell of fresh flowers, and the sound of wind chimes, which made up her home.

She remembered the long car ride down from Rockland Maine, her home, to get here. Her father had looked older then, as he gripped the steering wheel, and sighed every so often as he seemed to be trying to pluck up the courage to say goodbye once he dropped her off at the Camp. The car ride had been somber and Amara had let her mind wonder as she looked out the window at the zooming by scenery, and passing cars. Her dads old Honda had the familiar smell of potting soil, and pine needles like it always did. Her grandma’s Elvis CD played on repeat for the whole trip, as nether she or her father had the energy to change it to one of the other many CDs that scattered the backseat.

The goodbye had been harder then she thought, tears had silently fallen, and the last long hug was hard to let go of, she breathed in the scent of her dad; cinnamon, and shaving cream. The last of her tears stained the shoulder of her father’s plaid flannel shirt, and then it was time for her to go. She had brought with her, her schoolbag full of clothes, her favorite books, and unicorn music box, holding her collection of trinkets, and bobbles.

She was dressed for cooler weather, unnecessary as it seemed with the way the sun was beating down today, but the coming breeze did have a chill to it, so she was glad to be wearing her favorite powder blue sweater with the pretty pearl buttons, and ribbon embroidery around the collar. The knee length skirt she had on, was the one she had gotten for her birthday only a few weeks ago, the canary yellow, and salmon pink pattern of the fabric, reminded her of her bedspread back home.

Still standing in the back of the group she waited and watched, observing the soon to be argument play out before her. She also kept glancing around the area they were standing, 20 different cabins around them all looking quite different.

"Yeah I do, I'm Venice Gorga, or Venny son of Ares...I guess, what is wrong with that dude's arm, to much jerking off to alien and fairy posters?!" A cocky boy called out, instantly verifying to Thane that he was a son of Ares. A long sigh dragged out from between his lips as his eyes rolled around their sockets. His shoulders sagged ever so slightly as he was reminded of every time there was a new group of campers. It as always the arm they wanted to know about, though this was a first time that someone insinuated he had a fairy fetish. At least it was reasonably fresh. The crackling Earth and the rising fury in Erin's voice reminded him that something needed to be done once her mood became foul and the two children of Ares were doing a stellar job of that. Thane did a volte-face, slipping into his cabin once more. He would do the same little trick that he did whenever the arm was brought up by someone trying to make a joke; Make it abundantly clear that his arm was not meant to be a joke.

Thane returned from the cabin seconds later, Erin's display finishing up as his cousin, Syleste, made an appearance and greeted the fresh blood. "You still have your sweet and loving cousin," Thane called out to Syleste when she mentioned that she was the only daughter of Morpheus, his voice flat as it usually was. If it weren't for his disinterest in most things, people would assume he was a master of deadpan. "Gorga," Thane spoke with a sigh bringing forth and opening his hand as he stood just before the door of his cabin, revealing what he went to retrieve, a luscious red apple. He brought it to his lips, biting down onto it before moving to untie the bandage tie just below his shoulder. The bandages coiled off his arm, falling slowly to the floor, revealing skin black and flat in colour like charcoal. The bandages continued to pile at his feet until his arm was completely bare and with it he reached out, some of the new campers falling back at the sight of it. He opened his hand, palm facing the sky and placed the apple onto his hand, patiently looking at the crowd.

"If you're unaware of basic mythology, Thanatos is the hand of death, the giver of peaceful death through just a touch." The apple began to darken as he spoke, the skin bubbling and collapsing in on itself, the moisture of the apple quickly dissipating as it rapidly decayed until it was nothing but dust. "I have had the misfortune of inheriting more than Thanatos's looks." Thane spoke softly, dropping the apple to his feet before punting it into the crowd, his dull uninterested expression never changing. "We're all very proud of you for thinking up that quip all on your own though, Gorga. Now, if you'll excuse me," Thane's eyes drew slowly across the crowd before settling on Erin, his eyes tired and dissatisfied. This is exactly why I don't leave the cabin without you, Thane thought as he kneeled down and scooped up his bandages before stepping back inside. He'd spend a short while reapplying his bandages before stepping back out to find Erin.

He stopped by the stereo before sitting down to perform the tedious operation of concealing his arm, turning it on and cranking up the volume. Redbone's Come and Get your Love flowed out, filling the cabin with noise. It was loud enough to easily be heard from outside, though Thane wasn't particularly concerned with the fresh blood's opinions on his musical taste and by now the neighbors were used to it. Giving a quick glance around to ensure that the shades were drawn and that his only company was Erin's cat, he stood up and began to dance around to the song while halfheartedly taking care of his arm. As Thane began to sing along, he was reminded of the first time Erin caught him jamming out; The resulting embarrassment was what broke down the wall that was originally between them. She was so much harsher back then. The fact that there weren't any campers falling into Tartarus right now spoke volumes to that.

Faris took in everything happening around her, an amused smirk becoming wider and wider with every passing second. First, another kid of Ares. Awesome. She’d never had a ‘sibling’ before and while the guy’s insult was crude it did start her smirk. Then when some random guy asked if tour whore was having fun it became a full smile. And then when their guide got pissy and began opening the depths of Hades just to make a point and release her anger, Faris’s eyes widened with a full on grin. “Man, you’re a tough chick. I can respect that,” she said with a chuckle, although being completely sincere. Had she met someone who could get as enraged as she could? Maybe this place would be fun after all. A bobbing bit of pink came through the crowd but Faris ignored the creampuff. That was not the type of person she made friends with. In her mind, she and this Erin girl were now cool with each other since Erin had matched her irritation rather than backing down. She would be considered cool by Faris until further notice.

The guy with the freaky arm however, just made himself freakier by revealing the dark flesh and killing an apple just by touch. “Gross,” Faris mumbled under her breath, rolling her eyes and sighing heavily. She looked back over to the other Ares kid and sized him up and down. So this would be her cabin mate huh? Well, he wasn’t the type she normally hung out with, preferring mysterious guys and tough bitches as friends, but she knew they would have fun wreaking havoc, especially versing each other or working together against others in the training area.

When the girl Erin, threaten Venny, he had a giant smirk on his face. Then he saw how the earth cracked under her feet, she was a bad ass, but Venny thought it was hot. "Nice effects pretty, but nah, that place seems a little hot for me. I'd rather go somewhere with only me and you, if you don't mind." He started to smile even harder, he was about to burst into laughter, he didn't like her like that, he just wanted to mess with her mind. Then the kid with the broken arm, came out with an apple, in a few seconds the apple, was decayed. Venny started to clap, "Bravo! Do another trick!" All the new kids started to laugh again, he even saw his half sibling smirking his way. Her and Venny could do some real damage if they learned how to work together, but two hot heads, who want to be in charge, never really works out. "Do you all want to see me do a trick?" The new kids started to shake there heads yes. Venny took off his necklace, he pressed down on the button on the front of it. THOD came alive, The Holder Of Destruction. It shined in the light. "Now stand back, and watch what a pro can do." Venny struck the ground with THOD, the earth shook, and fire rose from the ground. He didn't hit the ground to hard,, he didn't want to destroy the camp just right now. All the camp kids, look at him in shock, they were scared and impressed at the same time. "Now, can I go put my stuff away?" Venny turned around on his right foot's heel, and he started to walk off. But he stopped when he heard a bubbly voice start to speak. Her name was Syleste, she had pink cotton candy colored hair. She was the only daughter of Morpheus, the god of sleep? Venny didn't know, he still didn't finish his books of greek gods, his father gave him, He was still on A,s. Venny walked over to her. "Hello beautiful, are you sure that Morpheus is your father, and Aphrodite, isn't your mother, your to beautiful to be just a dream." Venny could be cheesy sometimes, but with his smile, and his charm, he usually never failed to get the girl he wanted.

As much as Nikolas had grown to love his new home in Camp Half-Blood, he couldn't stand how he was late to pretty much everything. No matter how early he left, be it minutes or even hours, something always managed to get in his way. A year ago he would have attributed it to bad luck or chance, but after learning the truth about his father and who he really was through his year at Camp Half-Blood, it was clear that the cards were constantly stacked against him just for bearing the blood of Hephaestus. It was fairly obvious that the gods were rather fickle and even petty beings, who did not hesitate to blame the son for the sins of the father. It wouldn't surprise him if the inconveniences and problems that constantly plagued him had been conjured by the gods themselves: just desserts, he supposed, for being the unwanted spawn of a hated, brilliant cripple.

But oh, no, Nick wasn't going to be late this time. He wouldn't let the gods bully him today. With a sly grin, he slammed a fist onto the button of the new elevator he had just installed and let out a hearty laugh when the gears began to spin and the pulleys and cranks began to do their magic. Building an elevator was a sorely needed necessity for the crippled son of Hephaestus, as it allowed him to access the main floor from the basement easily and effortlessly, and most importantly of all, allowed skip the exhausting and incredibly humiliating chore of scooting up an entire filthy metal spiral staircase on his ass. Nick watched as the elevator platform descended-- and jolted to a halt nearly three feet above the floor, much too high for him to climb up on from his wheelchair. Confused, Nick punched the button again, which only caused the elevator to start its ascent. Another push of the button caused it to stop three feet above the ground once more. Incredibly frustrated by the machine's malfunction, Nick rapidly rammed the side of his fist onto the button, as if pressing it harder and faster would result in it actually working. Instead, the elevator creaked and let out a low, ominous moan-- and then suddenly crashed to the ground with a deafening boom.

After the dust and debris had settled, Nick let out a sigh. The wrath of the gods still dogged him at every turn, it seemed. Well, looks like he wasn't going to taking his nifty new elevator today... or anytime soon, judging by the smoking pile of wreckage before his feet. And so, leaving that problem for another day, he wheeled himself over to the staircase and plopped out of his chair and spun himself about on the ground, letting his back face the stairs. He left his wheelchair and began scooting up the stairs with a painful slowness, pushing himself up backwards step by step by step until after what seemed like an eternity, he reached the top. Once there, another wheelchair waited with his trusty crossbow Loyalty strapped to the side. After taking a short breather he pulled himself into his low-backed wheelchair and unlocked the wheels. Giving the wheels an experimental turn, he thanked the gods no one had messed with his second wheelchair while he had been working in the basemnt for days straight on that blasted elevator.

"Well," he said to himself brightly as he steered his way through the veritable minefield that was the messy main floor of Cabin Nine, "Let's see how Erin's doing with the newbies, shall we?" He pulled open the door and after taking a moment to enjoy the sunlight, used all his upper body strength to shoot himself forward and fly over the steps leading into the cabin. He got a second or two of airtime before landing and skidding on the ground, the wheels beneath him creaking dangerously from the impact. Nick was suddenly grateful he had taken the time to reinforce the thing. using the built-up speed from exiting the cabin, he wheeled himself over to the crowd of newbies just in time to see the most bizarre display.

Apparently someone had trash-talked Cabin Thirteen or something of the like, as Erin seemed to be threatening to probably throw some loudmouth newblood into Tartarus while Thane was making a full display of his power to a group of gawking newbloods. He wasn't surprised by Erin's display of rage, but it was a rare thing to see Thane so peeved that he'd use that funky arm of his. Nick skidded to a stop a short distance off, not wanting to tangle himself in whatever awful mess that was. No one really liked the so-called 'Hephaestus hotheads', and he wasn't too eager to make anyone any angrier by reminding them of his existence. After Thane had stormed back inside and Erin finally released the newbie, Nick swallowed his growing nervousness and wheeled himself around the group of newbies-- and almost crashed straight into Syleste of Cabin Fifteen.

"Oh, jeez. Sorry Syleste. Didn't see you there." He carefully made his way around Syleste and approached Erin. "Hey, Erin, sorry I'm late to the party. We get any new Hephaestus kids?"

Amaryllis stood just a foot from where Erin had closed up her huge rip in the ground. Looking at it closely you could see what looked like a thin jagged line in the dirt, where the split had been; cautiously Amara lightly placed her right foot down upon the healing earth, wondering a million questions in her head. When nothing happened she moved to put all her wait on it, and softly jumped up and down a few times. “Cool…” she said quietly to herself.

Then she looked up just in time to see the black rotted mash of apple land with a splash of decay at the feet of a kid standing near her. The smell was nasty, so she side stepped away from it, as she absentmindedly imagined her grandmother frowning at the waste of a perfectly good apple, and probably shaking her finger at all the ‘ridiculous teenagers’ as she like to call them.

So far if Amara had the names right, the girl with the tattoo legs was Faris. The boy with the vulgar mouth was Ven…something. The tall guy that ruined the apple was…Thane? The grumpy tour leader was Erin, and the girl with the pretty pink hair was Syleste. The pink hair was something she had only seen on dolls, and out of all the questions she wanted to ask. All of her important and relevant questions, what she really wanted to know at that particular moment was, ‘If she could somehow have pink hair just like her.’

Tuning out the teenagers bickering, Amara was just enjoying the magic show; they were putting on, as they showed off. All she could really do was make some flowers bloom, and once in awhile she could make them move how she wished. It amazed her Grandma, and father, but she had the feeling that her abilities were nothing special here. The brief tour that was given before all this bizarreness had occurred, was not detailed enough for the nine year old Amaryllis, she wanted to explore, and see which cabin was hers. The Curly haired boy in the wheelchair appeared, and Amara made her way to the front of the newbie crowed…”Can we get back to the Q&A part of the tour? I was just wondering…what Cabin is Demeters? Oh and um…aren’t you guys all going to get in trouble for fighting? ” She said in a flat clear voice.
Myra was competing in a spur of the moment archery competition in the arena with about a dozen other demigod teens. So far she was kicking everyone’s ass, that is everyone other than Barlow Higgins, who could hit a moving target blindfolded, but he was a son of Apollo, so Myra liked to think of his skills as a sort of cheating…or at least an unfair advantage, it made her feel better.

Kera, Erwin, and Gilbert the most competitive kids at camp, looked super pissed as Barlow got bull’s-eye again. It had been those threes idea to start up the ‘light hearted’ contest in the first place, wanting to show off their new bows. Winner getting loser as a servant for the rest of the week, was the prize when it all started, but the competition was heating up, and no one had defined any rules so, when Lulu daughter of Hephaestus used her fire ability to shoot a flaming arrow at a target blowing it up, everyone started doing as they pleased and it was basically childish chaos in the arena.

Like the playful food fight scene in a movie, but with flying arrows, flames, and so on…then a group of Ares kid joined in and all hell broke loose…it was good practice if anything but she was not really dressed for it. Sundresses and flipflops were not the best thing to be wearing at the moment, so she slipped away, hoping it was still going once she changed her clothes.

Faris watched Venny as he took off his necklace and it became a full sized sword. Faris didn’t move back, hands still on her hips as she raised an eyebrow in a slightly bored expression and watched. Fire came up from the ground and Faris began to wonder if this sword came from their ‘father’. Jealousy made her lips scrunch to the side as she looked away, ignoring Venny’s wooing of the creampuff. Besides, looks like bit…, she meant, Erin… said she had guts. As if she needed the reminder. Faris simply smirked and shrugged as if to say Yeah I know that She got distracted when a curly hair boy in a wheelchair pulled up to Erin though and asked if there were any kids of Hephaestus. Which God was that again? Didn’t he make Zeus’ lightning bolts or something? I really should learn more about these gods from a book instead of the cartoon Hercules… Faris thought to herself, still watching the boy until she realized she was staring. Her cheeks turned pink before she glanced away, determined not to look at him now, and instead glancing at the little girl who asked a couple of annoying questions. With an exasperated sigh and rolling her eyes, Faris turned away from the group, cheeks still warm. “I’ll be at the Ares cabin if anyone needs me,” she said loudly, turning and waving lazily like the rest of them were insignificant bugs annoying her.

She walked past each cabin until one caught her eye. It was red, with barbed wire on the roof and a boar’s head above the doorway. “Weird,” she grimaced, drawn by the red color and some punk music coming from inside however. She sighed and walked in, going over to a radio that had been left on and recognizing the song. She smirked and started singing along. She wasn’t the best or worst singer, but it didn’t stop her from singing along if she felt like it. She was walking around the sorry excuse for a cabin when she saw something glinting from under one of the beds. Frowning, Faris walked over and got on her knees, bending down and pulling out a shield and spear. “Wicked,” she smirked, feeling the lightness of them and yet they felt strong enough to withstand any attack. As she was messing with them, a note fell out of the shield. Setting down the weapons on the bed they were under, she picked up the note and read it. Use them well was all it said. Faris smirked, not feeling so jealous anymore, and began examining her new weapons once more.

Venny felt weird at first, when the girl...Syleste touched his face, but he realized that she must be blind, he felt, that she was brave, to just go around touching people's faces. Syleste started to touch his chest, and then she touched his face. Venny couldn't help but smile. Already got the girl all over me, he thought in his head, a new record. Then she stopped, "I-I'm really so sorry... Unless I'm asleep, this is the only way I can see...", "I should probably go... I really am sorry..." She was about to walk away, but Venny grabbed her hand, gently and turned her around. "Well, I hope when you go to sleep to night, I'll be in your dreams...you'll be in mines, beautiful." Knowing that she couldn't see him, he laid her hand on his face, so she could feel him smiling at her. He grabbed a red rose, in the bushes next to them, "I know you can't see this, but it's a rose, not as beautiful as your are, but it comes close." He gave her the rose, then he bent down, kissed her on the cheek. He was a cheeseball, but a gentleman still. That was something he, learned from his mother, that he WOULD do. "I'll see you later Syleste, gotta get to unpacking, but I'll be back for you." Something about her was...different, he only had dated Jersey girls, who were loud, rude, like him. But Syleste was different, he shook it off, he didn't like feeling this way. But on the way to the cabin, he was smiling.

When he got there, he could see that it was diffidently Ares' cabin, it looked like a jail cell, for the insane. He walked in, and saw his half sister, Faris, he thinks that's her name. She was holding a spear and a shield, it wasn't as cool as him sword, but it was nice. "Did dad give you those? He gave me the enchanted sword, when he visited me." He laid his stuff on his bed, and sat down. If he was going to have a partner to wreck havoc with, he would need to talk to her first.

This is a good place. I like it.

Kyle swaggered along with the rest of the new arrivals, trying his best not to stare at the ass of the girl ahead of him. Who could blame him? She had a very fine ass. However, the light was killing him. Who is the greek god of the sun again?

Helios.

I don’t know the name, but he’s a real jackass. Could it kill him to dim the lights?

The real question is WOULD killing him dim the light? An excellent question. We should find out.

Kyle rolled his eyes. The inner dialogue was distracting as hell, he was clearly missing something. The tour-thingie with the surly girl was in front of Cabin 15. His cabin, if the map was to be trusted. There was a design, a rather morbid thing, a skull and spine. He didn’t recognize the skull, but figured it would look right at home on the Predator’s trophy wall. Glad to be away from the surly guide, he circled around the group and headed for the steps. Hey, you think I might have a sister?

Quite possible. Look at the population of some of these cabins.

He wanted out of the sunlight, desperately wanted out of this blasted sunlight. Was he so photosensitive because he was Morpheus’s son, or was it because of his Scottish side? Sunglasses and sunscreen. I hope there’s a store of some kind.

If you’d only man up and open your sissy eyes all the way, you’d notice that you missed the answer to your question. On your five, pink hair.

Kyle turned slowly and spotted her. She was surrounded by other campers, some flirting, some chatting… Pink hair, pink hair… very, very nice ass. Yowza! What do you think she is, some child of Aphrodite or other?

No… but that Game of Thrones show did mainstream what you’re considering. So I won’t stop you.

Kyle paused, frowning. I invented that joke… about… aw, shit.

“Hey,” he said aloud, slipping into the Scottish accent his mother had always had. “I’m Kyle McLeod, and apparently this is my cabin here. Anyone else live here?”

Astrid popped up next to the large group of newbies. She was carrying a large armful of swords. While the arms were sharp and unsheathed, she didn't get cut due some braces she had put on her arms. This she had learned the hard way. Throwing down the swords she waved to them, "Walla. Swords for all." This was a little tradition of hers, ever since she could remember she had always given out her swords to new campers. She had plenty of them to give out, with all her spare time.

"Erin, good to see that they chose you to lead the freshest of our midst. I'm just going to assume that they had a nice warm welcome." Astrid grinned up at her, putting across the point that she was joking. Erin was always a dark person quick to jump to anger, so she was fun to tease.

Some of the campers were breaking up and heading to their separate cabins. Astrid would leave the swords if any of the others wanted to pick them and and then take the rest when she headed back for her cabin. Seeing Nick standing by Syleste, she waved to him and walked over. "Hey Nick, how did your project go? You were down in the basement for eeeever!" She leaned over and rested on the side of his chair, hoping he didn't mind. While Astrid had practically memorized every stone and twig in the entire camp, she still had a hard time judging people. Nick seemed like a cool guy though. Plus he was her brother so they were kind of stuck together.

Turning towards Syleste she continued her ADD driven rambling, "Syleste, I see that you are already hitting on the new campers. Fuckin' classic. I swear if I didn't know you better I would call you an Aphrodite child." She stood and moved next to Syleste, "Though between you and me, I'd say it's better that your not." Astrid's eyes fell on the rose in her hands, "A rose! How sweet of him. Tell me, was he an Aphrodite. You know how cheesy those fuzz brains are."

Thane's arm had been thoroughly wrapped and the song he was dancing around to like an idiot had just cut off, the next song on his playlist, another Bowie song from the Ziggy era beginning to spill out. "Oh, shut up Ziggy," Thane sighed, thumbing the power button, the song cutting off abruptly. Silence flooded the recently loud room, the silence itself louder than the noise. Silence had always been all encompassing for Thane, it made him go mad. It made him think of the dark void of death that his arm was the key to. The silence rarely lasted long in this camp and that was one of the few things he had come to appreciate about this place. Erin's goofy cat was purring up a storm, content with Thane's presence. The voices of campers trickled in from beyond the door, Erin's standing out distinctly.

"Guess I should head back out, huh?" Thane asked, looking toward the cat who was either sagely nodding or simply nodding off to sleep. Thane chose to believe the former and made his way toward the door, giving the cat a poke to its exposed tummy as he passed by, feeling a paw bat as his hand as he opened the door, stepping back out. "Don't even think of saying a word..." Erin said, drawing a small grin from Thane who couldn't pass up the opportunity to do a little teasing. "Don't say anything about trying to send kids to Tartarus?" Thane asked as he stepped behind her, his hands knuckle deep into his pockets, his thumbs hanging out. His grin quickly faded as he looked back across the crowd, noticing the Ares boy walk away from his cousin, as well as her cheeks which now closer matched the colour of her hair. He wouldn't say anything to her about it. It wasn't his place, but it still bugged the very loving hell out of him seeing his only living family member set herself up for disaster.

A new camper heading towards the Morpheus dorm caught Thane's eyes, giving him a small rush of excitement at having a new family member. Thane's mind began to race, 'Perhaps we'll be able to hit it off. It'd be great to finally have a male family member, someone to talk to abou- Is he? No. Really? Really? He's staring at his sister's ass. I've never been one for parricide, though this new guy's making quite the case for it.' Thane's momentary bloodlust was lost when the oh so familiar voice of Astrid caught his attention, reminding him that there were plenty of people in this world to not be particularly fond of. Her comment toward Syleste reminded him of why he wasn't fond of her. She was always so quick to talk without thinking, even quicker to speak before knowing what she spoke of. Almost counter-intuitive, her being a daughter of Hephaestus and all.

"I pity the fresh blood," Thane sighed, his voice the vocal embodiment of lethargy, as he stepped over toward the pile of swords, bringing a foot down on the nearest blade, "Not even they deserve such poorly crafted paperweights." Thane bent over, picking one up, rotating the blade by the grip before plunging the blade down into the dirt, "It has a hard enough time piercing the dirt." Thane shrugged, turning toward Erin and the son of Hephaestus. "Perhaps one day she'll pick up on either the technical or social skills of yours," He spoke softly, meaning to force Astrid to listen to his final jab. He didn't expect Nick to react poorly to his comment, because Nick was at least familiar with Thane's demeanor by now. Thane had always had a certain admiration for Nick, not due to his ability to live without use of his legs, but for his passion in the art of creation. He chose to say no more, returning to his place behind Erin. They place he felt most comfortable while the sun bore down on him.

Connor threw a heavily worn, light blue, wrinkled, button up over his white tank top, hastily rolling up the sleeves. He had already been wear shorts, and as a second thought, he grabbed Logos from underneath his mattress, the one place he could reliably keep things in his cabin full of thieving little siblings with any reasonable belief that they might not take it. The very fact that he had a mattress to stash the gift from his father under was a miracle in and of itself and, up until a year and a half ago, he had been sleeping on a sleeping bag over a floor mat, and he was one of the lucky ones. The mattress had been poached from a kid who had moved out of the cabin once his parent, Aphrodite, had claimed him.

He looped the tattered leather into his belt loops, still feeling slightly awkward about carrying the sword. He shook his head lightly and stepped outside stretching and grinning. Fresh meat, and knowing his cabin's luck there would still be half a dozen more unclaimed for them to house until the good ole gods figured out which was of their brood.

Connor chuckled lightly, as he walked towards where he heard what could only be the sounds of new kids puffing chests and sizing each other up, and of course at the heart of it all were Ares' bra- children. One was hitting on the Morpheus girl, Syleste, if Connor was right, which he rarely was when it came to names, and one was storming off towards the Ares cabin.

He was going to approach the group anyways, but stopped short when he over heard the remark from Thane about shoddy craftsmanship, and decided to maybe stand a good distance out of range from the group, just in case any hazards started flying.
