Yeah, IRL is busier than I expected as well. I'm going to head to college today to finish getting registered, I really should start going to the gym again today as well, and tomorrow I have an early morning college orientation.

Was the city originally built as a lakeside city? OR did it grow to meet the lake? As if it was originally built that way the docks would be inner city so inaccessible whereas if it grew out we'd be able to go around the inner city.
Yes, that puzzled us too. The castle might be water-inaccessible, but it is not that plausible for the inner city. A sea wall could make sense, though. I.e. A wall right behind the wharves. Maybe a smaller inner harbor with a raised chain to seal out anything above rowboat / small canoe in size.
