A new breed of rangers

The year is 2016, the legend war is over and the armada has left. However a new threat emerges and a new team is assembled to fight an alliance of ultimate evil.

So basically we'll be doing our own season of power rangers. I kinda want to gauge the general interest in this concept so let me know if you want to start woth 5 or 3 or have a 4th join soon like dino thunder. No matter what we need someone to play the mentor which i might do as to set up angles as like a game master, but if we get a lot of feedback I'll open that option off, on the flip siide if we get little feedback i can also be a ranger ala tommy in dino thunder.

I'll let you guys pick the motif and such. Right now i just want to know who's interested.

Interest! Also, going to suggest music as the motif, since Toei's already done that for Kamen Rider and Precure, and we all know they like to reuse themes.

Also because it would be awesome but yeah.

I just had a somewhat silly idea, actually: loosely adapting (by which I mean just using the suits and mecha from) a pre-Zyuranger sentai into Power Rangers. I'm not sure how serious a suggestion this is, but if we went that route I'd suggest going with Jetman (birds/planes). The main problem I see with this idea is that it kind of limits what we could do, though. But again, I'm not sure how serious I am about this, so yeah.

Or conversely, one that hasn't been adapted yet, like Go-Busters (special ops/animals), the alternate Go-Busters, or Kyoryuger (DINOSAURS AND SAMBA!). But, um, yeah.

Jetman is a possibility, Dairanger maybe? I like the cybernetic crime motif, could you elaborate more on the music idea?

Dairanger feels a little bit like cheating to me, since the mecha from that were used for the second series of Power Rangers. XD But I dunno, it has some pretty cool themes to it, so maybe. ...I think the main reason I suggested the alternative Go-Busters and Dinosamba is because they have a good amount of rangers and it means it's easy for everyone to choose a colour they like, but... My mind works in weird ways.

As for the music idea... I think in most basic terms it would be that each ranger is based upon a genre of music (for example, Red Rock, Pink Pop, Black Metal, etc.), their weapons are based on musical instruments and... I'm not sure what the mecha would be like right now, but yeah. Hmmm...

Sorry to drop this, but I have had a villainous empire for a Rangers game cooking in my head for a long time.

Right, this is an idea I've had for a while. On the surface, it's a standard Sentai show in... well, the Sentai/Power Rangers setting. However, there's a twist- the monsters responsible for the attacks aren't trying to conquer earth. They're trying to conquer the afternoon timeslot.

For you see, the monster attacks are all part of an intergalactic game show for FAAAAAAABULOUS PRIZES! The attacking monsters are alien contestants. The challenge is to fill up several meters in order to win legal dominion over the planet in the eyes of the Federation. If a contestant's not strong enough to fight on its own, a monster is randomly created for them using a slot machine filled with earth objects. If they do well enough, the monsters unlock the bonus round- transformation into a giant monster to rack up more numbers to try to get better prizes.

The reason the military and police don't interfere is because it's against the game's rules, and if said rules are broken, the planet's destroyed. The Earth gets five champions to stop the monsters. This is the Sentai Team. If the humans can defeat every contestant for the season, they get FTL technology and membership in the Federation, as well as recognition for their rapid technological process. If not... well, the planet belongs to the alien that won.

The host of the show is Spandez, an evil embodiment of bloodsport and self-proclaimed "Dark Lord of Daytime Television."

I like the concept, could we possible have two rp's going, a lighthearted one and a darker one

If you're willing to put up with the extra work, that might be fun. One would be gritty and serious, whilst the other would be completely off its meds. XD I'd honestly be fine with either really (as long as the dark one isn't dark to a stupid extent, but I'm sure that won't happen), but yeah.

And hey, if they both work out we could always have a crossover at some point, but that's probably getting way ahead of ourselves.

For the darker one I was thinking of rounding up a bunch of villains who were never destroyed and them forming a group. Since only 5 people have shown interest so far we might start with 3 for each team in case some of you guys only want to be on one rp. Then add more if more interest is shown

That sounds like it would work perfectly, honestly. And I like the idea of a ragtag bunch of villains grouping together for the darker one, too, since I am a massive geek and love villain team-ups for some reason. XD

Alright i think for the dark one i'll be a mentor/foirth ranger that joins after a little while, ala dino thunder. What about a monster motif, Godzilla mothra, Rodan stuff like that. Do you think we could make thay work, if not how about a water theme and have it take place on an island, that's never been done before

Seeing how popular Thunderbirds was in Japan, I don't think that would be unwarranted really. ...I'm pretty sure that kind of thing has shown up in sentai before, actually.

I know the DekaMachine access tubes from Dekaranger/SPD were a pretty blatant UFO reference. Hell, I might even go so far as to call GoGoV a complete homage.

...Also the water-theme idea is just giving me possibly terrible ideas of the Power Rangers fighting Cthulu. XD

Actually I should not be seriously considering suggesting having the serious one pretty much be International Rescue vs Lovecraftian horrors should I.
