Hey Rumiko, I hate to burst your bubble but there's a high chance that Ruby is now dead. Such a concentrated attack on Ruby at that speed would not only give her no time to tense her stomach muscles but it would generate a large amount of force that would more than likely transfer directly to her internal organs! RIP in peace, Ruby!

I think thats like a textbook definition of excessive force. Getting hit by a car at 40 MPH would kill or maine most people but having all that force directed to one area of the body should destroy the body. . . Or I would that would be the case.

I understand the concern. Maybe it could just be changed to a lesser force and the action can continue?
I bet RumikoOhara only intended to hurt/capacitate the character.

RIP Ruby :3 I guess I'll just change it to her being horribly winded and if Rumiko wants to hurt her then Cypress can just shoot her or something!

Hmm... I suppose if Cypress were normal an Ruby were normal and the laws of reality held
I guess I could slow the attack speed down a bit
Also Cypress is flash and bone not steel and aluminum like a car or other type of machine
And if we want to analyze this then I would say that for Cypress the attack would be a Kamikaze run if all the laws of physics and biology were the same.
Also when Cypress hit Ruby she was at Zero Friction which could also explain both of their survivals, when bullets, punches or other kinetic attacks try to strike Cypress while she's in this state they slide off her ergo it would have blunted her attack for Ruby as well.

In super Hero RP, Stories and discussion one should remember the rule "Suspension of Disbelief"

I having trouble with Suspension of Disbelief. Just because Ruby's only power is talking and controlling tech, nothing physical. Nothing that would help her survive that kinda hit. I can get the behind Suspension of Disbelief of it had been a number of other characters.

But thats just me, I thought we were going with some realism. So I think its my own misconceptions above anything else.

I have offered a possible explanation for survival and can really do nothing more than that

If you'd like to calculate the force of impact then here is the formula

Energy = (1/2)mass x velocity2

The energy after is:

Energy = (1/2)total-mass x final-velocity2

Cypress weighs 63 kg

I am trying to conform to the desires of others who need realism but honestly can't remember reading that we were going for realism.

I will at this time say that if realism is the watch word then neither Ruby nor Eli could have even managed to stand at all seeing as how the surfaces around them were all under Zero Friction

I adjusted it a little but I think what Acer was trying to say is that Ruby, who only has her electrical powers, would be decimated when facing such a force but I suppose we can drop realism now and again.

Cypress is just as fragile without her Zero Friction field and it protects her only against Kinetic attacks

I've seen over thinking mess up many a Super Power RP, ever been at a convention and listen to two mega Logic types try an rip on each other's favorite Hero's

"Come on if Cyclops's eye beam was as Powerful as they make it appear the recoil. Would snap his neck"

"Oh right an Wolverine's claws would get stuck every time he jams them into metal because they're wider across the back which would be trapped by compression an friction"

I actually saw two grown men almost come to blows over the above debate
