As the postman arrives at your door this morning, he slips a bright red envelope into your mail box. You don’t know it yet, but 5 other lovely people beside yourself, have received the same envelope that morning. They may be your next door neighbor or they very well could be someone from somewhere across the lovely state of New York.

Upon opening the bright envelope, this is what you come to read:

DelToro Enterprises said
Greetings, I am Analise DelToro. I am current heir to DelToro Enterprises, and have kept promise to the business to remain afloat since my father’s demise. Before you toss this letter, I suggest you read it at least once. I have come to know of your ‘situation’ through an inside source. It may take you a few minutes to think about what that situation is, but I want to inform you that I will take care of it. Expenses taken care of, and a little extra for any other personal wants and needs you may possess. What is the catch? You must attend tomorrow night’s dinner party at my residence here in New York, here you will play in my contest. Once you win the contest you will receive all the money, in strictly cash as you leave. All other favors will be taken care of instantly, and you should see results in a matter of hours or at the most, a couple of business days. I highly suggest you attend, as this could be your last hope. I will send to you via my personal limo to pick you up around 8:00 pm tomorrow. Please RSVP via the phone number I’ve listed at the bottom of this letter. Till then, take care.

Unemployed. Was fired from his job last week. Was working as a manager of a 5 star elite health club. From coming in late to work, arriving slightly intoxicated, and eventually missing a few days he was let go.

Reason:
Owes $280,000 to a gamble king by the name of Thane Orto. His debt is due next month and it was made clear through threatening innuendos that his life would be taken if he didn't pay up.

Personality:
1. Naturally an optimistic when he isn't in a slum.
2. Friendly and outgoing, the person to easily make friends.
3. When not blinded by his emotions or alcohol he is quick thinking.

Small Biography:
Baylen had a great life, managing a gym for the elite, schmoozing with the wealthy and famous, bringing in an easy $100,000 a year, not including his annual bonus and tips from the guests at the club. Everyone liked him and he knew how to please a crowd from his good looks to his natural charisma; he was always the one laughing and staying positive from the moment he woke up til the time he went to sleep.

One night Baylen was invited to a game of cards at one of the member's mansion, a game that would change his life. He left the party with a win of $25,000. This was chump change for the guests at the party but was an enticing amount of cash for Baylen. Wanting more, he found more games to play in, his winning streak continuing. As he progressed in to the big leagues he eventually began to crumble when going against players who had more experience and wit then he did. He kept losing, losing his winning funds, losing his pay checks, eventually he started selling some items from his home to keep himself in the game. He began to borrow money when he had no more of his own cash to put down. Combined with his new addiction to alcohol he kept acquiring more debt as he struggled to get his money back. He was blinded by his dire situation and was desperate to get his winning streak back, confident it was just around the corner. After having borrowed over and over from a gamble lead by the name of Thane Orto, Baylen eventually dug himself in a hole too deep for himself to easily get out of. His focus on gambling and alcohol addiction has cost him his job, all of his savings, his car, and eventually he would lose his apartment and probably his life if he didn't pay his debt by the end of next month.

It's a pretty simple concept I thought would be best for this roleplay!
Without giving too much away- the contest you are participating in will have rounds in it.
Some rounds will be more challenging than others, and some will be even deadly.

Once each round is revealed in IC, I will make sure to recap the system and rule of the round in the OOC

There will be 5-6 rounds of game depending on how many contestants are left that far in to the game.

I should say right away that this will not be one of those "We over took the situation and became free!" type of role plays. I shouldn't have to say that to people, but I've experienced a roleplay before where I went to sleep and the players decided to send my character to prison and ending the roleplay.

He stands 6 feet tall, his hair usually slicked back with liberal amounts of hair gel which is complimented by the expensive colognes he douses himself in and the fancy suits he wears.

Name: Preston Reese

Age: 32

Sex: Male.

Home Location: Brooklyn, New York.

Occupation: Criminal defense lawyer

Reason: He got involved with a mafia in the wrong manner, helping to get off the member of an opposing gang. This inadvertently made him a target after the trial, which just finished two days before he received the letter. Also he is interested in the cash.

Personality:
- Preston is an extremely charismatic man, it comes with his occupation but he is special with words. He's in another sense, very charming.
- He is a driven man, one that will relentlessly pursue something until he gets it, he does not accept failure.
- He's a logical thinker, always mulling over situations before he gets involved in them.

- Cocky, he can come off as a snobby jerk even when he doesn't try to be one.
- He is pretty selfish, this ties in with how greedy he gets with money.
- He tends to manipulate people, using lies and smooth talking to get what he wants, of course he tends to dial this back in court, but outside of it, he'll happily be a manipulative asshole.

Small Biography:
Preston is a hotshot criminal defense attorney, one of the best in the state, and as he thinks himself, one of the best on the east coast. While he doesn't speak much of his childhood, but was a great student who eventually graduated Columbia law school. Since entering the big time, he has had a string of successes to his name as a lawyer, helping many of his clients to be acquitted from sometimes very harsh odds.

He defended a mafia member, who he did not know what involved with the mafia, the man was set up, and in an odd turn of events ended up with Preston defending him when he was tried for double murder. He managed to work a near miracle, getting his client away with an acquittal which pissed off the opposing mafia that set up his client, putting Preston at the top of the target list. He had been in his house since the trial, when he received the letter, excited by the chance of more money and the promise of his large problem getting taken care of.
