"I would like one, thanks," Shiranui accepted, "What's with the photo?"

Liam told him that the photo was taken by a pokemon, who didn't quite get cameras. He asked Shiranui what berries he would like in his smoothie. The only details that could be identified on the figure in the bed was that it was a woman, a bit of pink that was a tad to dark to belong to the pink pokemon who took the photo. After a little while, the door opened. Florence, the Blissey entered carrying a bag of groceries. Florence sat them down and happily ran over to Liam and hugged him. She then walked over to Shiranui and held her arm out. "Blis Blis ey!" She said with a smile.

"Hello there," Shiranui greeted in return, shaking the Blissey's arm. He figured it was Florence who took the picture and requested a Sitrus Berry smoothie.

Liam brought his friend the smoothie.
The door opened again, and a voice Shiranui has heard countless times called out: "Are you home son?"
"Yes mom!" Liam called. "Come meet my friend." A women came around the corner. She was Liam's mother, she was none other then Blackthorn's own Nurse Joy.

"Liam, you mean to tell me we've been meeting your distant family?" Shiranui asked, amazed at Liam.

"Yup." Liam replied. "I wondered if you saw my roots back in Pewter City." Liam replied as he pushed his hair back to show some pink starting to grow out at the base. "I am the first son to be birthed by a Nurse Joy in decades." Blackthorn's Joy approached Shranui. "So, you have been traveling with my son?"

"Ever since I first started from Pallet Town," answered Shiranui, "We've had so much fun together and met many interesting people and Pokémon."

Joy asked to see what Pokemon they had on them. Liam and his mom went outside. He grabbed his six Pokeballs and tossed them up. "Everyone out!" Sherlock the Alakazam, Sylveon, Gible, Dragonair, Snorunt, and Chansey emerged. She was surprised to see her own son had a Chansey. She loved Sylveon. She also commented that he had built a good team to face Clair with.

"Come on out!" Shiranui let his whole party out as well. Ryou the Kingdra, Kanki the Togekiss, Tachi the Espeon, Hitsuji the Ampharos, Kaki the Charizard and Wani the Feraligatr all emerged.

"You have some nice looking Pokemon as well." Joy said. She admitted that She was about to go over to the Gym to look at the Pokemon and offered to let them accompany her after she gave them a quick healing.

"We would be happy to," Shiranui accepted, knowing he'd have to face the gym.

When the three reached the Gym, they were greeted by a young women with an Axew. She introduced herself as Iris from the Village of Dragons in Unova. She explained she came here to learn from Clair, and that Joy was to go out into the Dragon's Den to look at the Pokemon in question. Liam offered to go as well, but Iris said that is was a rule, Nurse Joy and Officer Jenny aside, no one can enter the Den without permission from the town's gym leader. Iris had all of her Pokemon running around out of Pokeballs. She offered to battle the boys if they wanted.

"Axew, the Tusk Pokemon. They use their tusks to crush the berries they eat. Repeated regrowth makes their tusks strong and sharp. If a tusk breaks, a new one grows in quickly.

Emolga, The Sky Squirrel Pokemon. They live on treetops and glide using the inside of a cape-like membrane while discharging electricity. The energy made in its cheeks' electric pouches is stored inside its membrane and released while it is gliding.

Escadrill, the Subterrane Pokemon. It can help in tunnel construction. Its drill has evolved into steel strong enough to bore through iron plates. More than 300 feet below the surface, they build mazelike nests. Their activity can be destructive to subway tunnels.

Dragonite, the Dragon Pokemon, and Dratini's Final form. Dragonite is capable of circling the globe in just 16 hours. It is a kindhearted Pokémon that leads lost and foundering ships in a storm to the safety of land. It is said to make its home somewhere in the sea"

Liam also saw that she had a Gible as well. She also noticed that her Dragonite's eyes were way different then the ones in the Pokedex.

Shiranui noticed the Dragonite's eyes as well. "I have heard about Pokémon who look different based on where they're found; given that Unova is halfway around the world from where we are," stated Shiranui before turning to Iris and replying, "I can use a warm-up. Give me your best shot!"

Iris explained the story on how she and Dragonite met. Iris said they would use one Pokemon each, and she'd let him pick which one she uses.

"Liam, who would you pick?" asked Shiranui.

"Well, odds are Dragonite is the powerhouse of her team." Liam theorized. "It is also highly likely that Clair will use a Dragonite when we face her. Axel and Gible maybe basic level Pokemon, but that doesn't mean they are weak. Execderil has advantage over Fairies, the Dragpn's biggest weakness. I personally would likely take Dragonite, since it would be the best training."

"In that case, I'll take on Excadrill," replied Shiranui.

Liam stood at the sidelines to cheer on his friend.

Excadrill was raring for a battle. "Kaki, I choose you!" Shiranui sent out his Charizard and the battle was on.
"If you think Excadrill is disadvantaged, think again!" stated Iris, "Excadrill, Rock Slide!"
"Kaki, Smokescreen!" Kaki breathed out a dense cloud of smoke that concealed the Charizard. Excadrill's attack missed.
"Excadrill, Rock slide again!"
"Kaki, Flare Blitz! Mega Ring activate!" Shiranui activated his Mega Ring and Kaki was engulfed in an orb. The orb shattered to reveal a Mega Charizard X and Kaki charged at Excadrill, engulfed in blue flames. The Tough Claws ability that Kaki now had increased the power of her attack to the equivalency of a Blast Burn. Excadrill tried to execute a counterattack, but Kaki was too fast. The Mega Charizard X struck Excadrill for some heavy damage while feeling the recoil damage. Excadrill was barely holding on as Iris—despite never facing a mega-evolved Pokémon before—kept her composure.
"Excadrill, Drill Run!"
"Kaki, Flamethrower!" Excadrill put its claws together with the one on its head and charged at Kaki, spinning like a drill. Kaki breathed out a searing blast of fire that Excadrill tried to drill through. Excadrill broke through and struck Kaki for a super effective hit, but at the cost of coming out of the attack with its body charred. Excadrill fell over and Shiranui won the battle.

Liam went against Iris' Dragonite. He sent out Sylveon.
"Dragon Rush!" Iris called. Sylveon stood still as the attack didn't faze her. She was confused, as she hadn't battled any fairies before.
"now, Disarming voice!" Liam called. The super effective attack did a great deal of damage to Dragonite.
"Now, Thunderpunch!" Iris called. Sylvan was paralyzed, but Cute Charm activated.
"Ice Beam!" Iris called.
"Magic coat!" both attacks succeeded. The Ice attack was bounced back to Dragonite and KO'd it with a critical hit. Iris took the four poke balls and used a machine to heal them.
