Episode one: Just a Slice

"Ugh... I know that we've had worse fights and all, but this guy was tough..." A somewhat high pitched spoke tiredly as fell onto the pitch black sofa, letting out a long sigh after colliding with the piece of furniture. Three other voices groaned in agreement with the youngest of the team, and the fifth members said nothing as she floated to her exhausted friend. While she did agree with him, she didn't see how useful it would be for her to voice her opinion. Everybody already knew what she thought on the subject, as evidenced by the light bags under her dark purple eyes that almost appeared black.

After nearing the sofa, the grey skinned woman sat down next to her green skinned friend, at a distance that wasn't very common for people who were just friends. She said nothing, but nothing needed to be said from her, and she would keep fairly quiet until her opinion needed to be voiced.

"Well guys, I guess this just means that we have to kick our training up a notch." Another voice spoke, this time coming our of the elevator, getting an annoyed groan from one of the other members, who simply stared at the leader of the Titans. The observer was able to see that the iconic mask of the leader was ripped up, exposing one of his eyes to the world. Most of his costume was ripped up, and it didn't seem to phase the leader at all.

"Oh come on man!" The same man that had just groaned called out as he was going through the fridge. "This will me like the fifth notch that we have to kick up this month alone! I'm telling you robin, it can't just be us out there protecting the city. All of the other titans have a second group, why don't we?"

"Because we aren't them and we don't need a second group, Cyborg. Things are getting tough, but that's how it's supposed to be. We can't just pick people up off of the streets and make them into heroes." He spoke calmly and evenly as he walked into the room and over to the other sofa, right next to the one where Raven and Beast Boy were at.

A young woman followed Robin to the sofa and sat next to him, placing a hand on his shoulder and getting him to look at her. "Robin, I know that you do not want to put people in danger, but Cyborg is right. Our enemies are getting stronger and I fear that we won't be able to keep up with them. The very least we could do is see if there are any other heroes in the Jumping City that would wish to become a Teen Titan"

Once again, Starfire was able to convince Robin to do something that he normally wouldn't do if somebody else told him. He loved and respected his wife, and valued her opinion above anyone elses. With a small sigh and nod, Robin gave in to the will of Starfire. "Alright Star. We'll look around and see if anyone is up to the task." He then looked around to his teammates and stood up. "But if we don't find anyone, then we're going to kick our training up three notches." He said, getting a groan out of everyone, including Raven.
Currently in his civilian clothes, Ryan Pratt was walking up to a pizza joint that he had heard about. He was fairly new to Jump City, and was currently renting a small apartment. Before he left, he had heard about how many Villains attacked the coastal city on a monthly basis, and knew that it was the perfect place to get strong. He needed to become stronger, and he was prepared if any monsters were to attack.

With a small smile on his face, the young man walked into the pizza joint and stood in line to order. Some of the people in front of him moved away from him and began to huddle together. He understood why they moved, but wished that he could control how his body naturally cooled the nearby area so that she wouldn't have to move away.

He stood patiently as he waited in line. He did have some place to be, but he didn't have to rush there. He was sure that the giant 'T' shaped building wasn't going to disappear in the next few hours.

Above the skyline of Jump City, a black plane slowly descended into the city. It was relatively quiet, and few people ever looked up, so it went mostly unnoticed. Inside, two masked figures operated the controls, heading towards Titans Tower. The co-pilot, dressed in his red costume, finally spoke up. "Have I mentioned how much I hate this idea already?" the boy in red asked. "Yes. You did," said the pilot, who was clearly recognizable as the Batman. "This is ridiculous. Why do I have to be on some stupid team with a bunch of annoying children, and Dick of all people?" said the figure in red. Batman didn't turn. He simply addressed his son, "Damian, it isn't because you'll like it. The league of assassins covered most of your training, and I've added to it as much as I can. What you need now is experience on a team. Dick has been doing it for years. He'll be a great teacher." Damian remained unconvinced. "Please. Like you enjoy working with that Justice League of yours. Why should I even bother? I'm perfectly fine on my own." Batman merely responded "You're right. I don't like working with them. But I do it because I have to. In this business, you do a lot of that. Now go. We're here." Damian sighed, and readied himself to open his cockpit. Before he did, he said, with a hint of gratitude, " Hey Dad? Tell Alfred to watch Titus for me." Batman smiled and turned to Damian, saying "Good luck, son."

With a grin, Damian dropped out of his cockpit, and spread his cape to glide across Jump City. Batman had given him a briefing on what to do when he arrived, and Damian kept to it, mostly because it involved his equipment. As he took in the sights of this new city, he alighted on a rooftop and scanned the horizon. Then, Damian caught sight of Titans Tower, and his jaw dropped. What had he gotten himself into now? "Are you SERIOUS!!??" he cried aloud. "What does the T stand for? Massive TARGET!? Do these people not understand secrecy?" He face palmed. Going back to the league to be killed was looking like a good option. Well, no going back now. Damian brought up a map of the city on his visor, and took off for the first marked point on his map, where his bike was stored.

Milo wasn't new to Jump City he's been here a while, just not exactly being a hero most of what he normally did was on the opposite side of the spectrum but hey, when you're supposedly related to Jinx you never know whats gonna happen. It didn't matter though there was no proof he was related to her nor did he get her powers he got an entirely different set from a less preferred way. Though sometimes having a demon lord and celestial sister watching you isn't always a bad thing, I mean hey sister in heaven, brother in hell no matter what you have a friend after death.

Without shirt or shoes Milo walked the city, heading to a pizza joint he had heard about a while back. Walking in the air was immediately cooler and crisper, Damn, this is gonna be fun isn't it? Milo thought to himself getting in line.

redwood lane rode his bike around Jump City, wearing pants that consisted of half a pair of black denim jeans and half a pair of white designer pants bought at bargain price, a scarf, designer shoes (also at bargain price) equipped with sport insoles, a v-neck shirt, and a thin coat with his glasses hanging from the pocket. He lived in a suburb on the outskirts of Jump City with his two mothers before he moved into a cheap apartment in the city, so he knew Jump City as his parents would make frequent visits. His typical routine would consist of forcing himself out of bed, putting an art book in front of himself to draw poor sketches of post-modern fashion ideas that came to him in his dreams, eat cheap cereal, taking and remodeling clothes and selling them on Ebay or craigslist, then ride his bike before heading out to lunch. With his current business of buying, remodeling, and reselling clothes, he didn't have quite enough money to go to college with to start his fashion design career, and he wasn't in the best position to look for scholarships.

He enjoyed strolling around the city. Aside from the giant T-shaped tower, the city had amazing architecture. It had an elegant bridge, a wonderful scenery of waves crashing on the shore, nice neighborhoods atop slanted, rolling hills, and a cozy downtown of brick buildings. Unfortunately, redwood did not live within the set of nice neighborhoods. He lived in the ghetto, where minorities stared him down with peculiarity and a little disgust, choosing not to assault him, but rather mock his strange actions along with the clothes he wore. They often pondered if he were gay (He isn't. Just so you know).

As he continued to ride his bicycle, he made it downtown, stopping in front of a familiar pizza joint. His stomach grumbled. "That place is a little too pricey." He muttered and continued to ride his bike until he made it to a grocery store. Strolling through the aisles, he took a bag of salad, dressing, and some pre-cooked, frozen chicken fillets, putting it in his cart. He didn't really need a cart, since he didn't buy much. He swiftly checked out and got back on his bike.

His normal routine after lunch would typically consist of going back to fixing up clothes, or buying more clothes to work with. Today was different. He planned on applying residency at Titans Tower, regardless of how disgusting he thought it looked. And is it even architecturally safe? Either way, it was better than his current apartment home. Now to pedal through the tram-infested, hilly streets...

On the outskirts of Jump City, Question wore a factory worker's uniform she borrowed from some poor girl. The id card said Kathy Keller on it with a little picture of a red head. Good thing no one really bothered to check id, not in a cheese factory. Because a cheese factory would have nothing to hide, right? But if they did have security, it would be obvious they're hiding something. It wasn't hard finding the mainframe and breaking into their computer system, and taking a gander at how the cheese was really made. Ever wonder why some cheese is so stretchy and gooey? At least 10% of it is rubber, the kind used in tires.

Before she could figure out how this is all connected to the Illuminati, the security guards showed up, the ones too lazy to check id's. By then Q was long gone, hitching a ride on a truck delivering boxes of cheese to a pizza shop. It took her a hour to get there, an hour of listening to corporate prepackaged pop music on the radio. It was catchy, too catchy. She was sure the Illuminati was on to her by now, she should lay low for a while. Stop investigating cheese and other dairy product factories until the heat dies down. For now there was something else she could look into. Titans Tower stood as a shining monument, watching over the city assuring its safety. Most people think its shaped like a T for Titans, but that's too obvious. Its just a mask to hide the truth. Why a T? She had to know the answer.

Ten Seconds After Robin Decided to Open Membership...

The Martian Manhunter, John Jones, walked through the wall of Arizona's room. 'Containment room' it could be said, something built to handle 58 megaton of TNT detonating. "AH! Oh god you scared me! You know there's a door on this thing?!" John didn't seem the least bit impressed or sorry and became tangible in front of Arizona, she seemed to be reading. "I'm sorry, but I figured you wouldn't want to wait to hear this. You get what you want."

Arizona began to float and smile, a mixture of interrogation and contained happiness. "You mean..." John nodded. "You will be allowed to go down to earth, BUT." Arizona had a smile the joker would have been proud of and visibly tried to hold burping out all words of thanks, this but however contained her. "You will report to the Titans of Jump City, new positions have just opened, I'm sure you'll be able to join, you will give Robin this. It's your own file, everything he needs to know. Do not read it yourself." She nodded, Ari knew better than disobey or even think of disobey John. "And that's it. Bring that case you packed 11 months ago with you." With this, she jumped toward him in an attempt to hug him, which he evaded with ease. "Ohthankyousomuchthisisthebestyou'rethebest!"

As John backed in the wall, Ari began to undress to change in her hero suit, which she had designed herself in her lost time, that being a very long amount of time. She hopped it would impress. What would the titans think? Oh and if there are openings, plural, there would be others! What would they be like? What was earth like for real! Maybe she could eat more of this bacon or pizza some other heroes sneaked in her room for her! Yes, pizza every day!

She walked the halls of the watchtower to the teleported. A lot of heroes were surprised to see her out of containment, the big guys had spoke of allowing her out, try to make a real hero out of her, but still, considering the nature of her powers some were afraid it would be Two Bluff or the orphanage all over again.

______________________________

"Eh?! I-I uh, don't have any money right now. I'm sorry, but, come on, I'm sure John, I mean, Martian Manhunter can pay for it! John, I know you're watching, help me here!... Oh no, please, I'm joining the Titans today, I'll pay you back in 5 hours, I'm sure they have cash! I'm begging you, it's my first time on earth in like forever! What, I can't just go back for lunch, what kind of hero would I be?! Yes I am! I have the cape and everything!"

The suited Heroine, or wannabe at least, hoovered along the waiting line to exit the pizza joint, crossing her arms over her chest as to provide some warmth of the sudden chill she had. "Ohhh, the world is such a cold place without pizza, I hate you John..."

Walking through the streets of Jump City, a rather tall figure slowly glided across the sidewalk. It didn't seem notice the odd looks coming its way, as only one thing was on its mind at the time. The blue armor that he wore was oddly feminine, although he was called a man by the human that he protected. There was only one gender in his species, and he honestly had no need to care about his gender. The only thing he cared about what the little girl that he watched over, and she was the reason he was in public in the first place.

He had found out a few months ago that her human body did not fully accept the sustenance that he used to stay alive, and her body would only take a few nutrients from the food instead of all of them. He had been taking care of her for a little more than a year before he found that out, and he decided that he needed to get her food that was served on her planet, rather than created unnaturally like the 'food' that he ran on.

Turning to a random human, he looked at the man straight in the eyes and gave out no expression as he spoke softly. "Human. I require a small portion of food. Please tell me where I can find somewhere that can serve food in small portions."

The man that he was talking to stopped imediately and listened to the tall... man. The being didn't seem to be evil, but he was still somewhat afraid of the thing that he knew wasn't human. He pointed down the street and ran off, afraid to be around the somehow intimidating alien. Said alien simply looked in the direction that he was pointing in and began to walk to a restaurant that had the word "PIZZA" on the front. For as long as he had been on earth, he had taken to noticing that humans had several different ways of pronouncing things that were spelled the way. He assumed that it was a regional dialect thing, and didn't bother to look more into it.

Walking to the Pizza joint, the tall figure was forced to bend slightly over in order to get through the doors, but was able to stand back up with about an inch of space between the top of his helmet and the ceiling. Passing the line completely and moving straight to the counter, the alien looked at one of the people at the cash register and spoke in the same soft and calm voice as before. "Human. I require a small portion of your 'Pizza.' I have a sufficient amount of currency to pay for it, and would be pleased if it were to be brought to me in the quickest time allowable."

Damian followed the marker on his map unerringly, leaping across the rooftops with grace and precision. His skills from the League of Assassins and his gadgetry from Batman made navigating the city child's play. He wasn't worried about being spotted. No one ever looked up in a city, and he was as quiet as a cat in his acrobatics. The league had demanded nothing less in his training. Damian approached his destination. His first mark appeared to be in an alleyway just past some sort of pizza joint. Damian glared at it in disgust. Pizza. Now there was a way to lose the results of his intense physical training. He was vegetarian anyway, and the cheese would undoubtedly be fattening. He almost passed it by, before something caught his eye. He spun around in mid air, and grappled to a nearby rooftop. He scanned down at the people inside. There were a few strangely clad individuals, but they didn't grab his attention. What grabbed his attention was the being with the clearly xenological anatomy. He scanned an image of its face, and ran it through his remote access to the bat-computer. No outstanding warrants or files came up. It wasn't causing trouble, but an undocumented alien warranted further investigation. He stored its face and biological scan results to his suit, hoping to run them through a direct bat-computer program later.

Damian glided across the building, and into a nearby alley. He strode to a nearby garage. It was here. "Authorization TW5" he said. At once, the garage opened, revealing the contents inside; his Taloncycle. It was a red Waynetech augmented motorcycle commissioned personally by Damian through Mr. Fox. Being Bruce Wayne's son and possessing a wealth of economical and business knowledge certainly had its benefits. Damian approached the cycle, and checked the side of it. He moved aside a secret compartment he had installed, muttering "Come on. Don't have found it. Don't have found it." Inside was just what he hoped; a metal case. He opened it, and found all of his league of assassin gear; robes, throwing stars, and his personal sword, among other gear. Satisfied, he put the case back in his cycle, and drove off to his next marker.

redwood made it to the tower, sweating from the exercise. Not knowing where to put the bike, he threw it atop a grassy knoll and started to walk up the hill to the ugly tower. "Do they not know calligraphy?" He asked himself as he walked towards the tower. Once he was about 250 feet away, he retracted. Why wasn't anyone there yet? Was he the first person there? But ... it was about lunchtime, and he himself was hungry. He just didn't have the appliances to heat the chicken nor the kitchenware to set up his salad. He looked at his phone. "12:30?" He then decided to wait until 1:00 for people to show up. Otherwise, he would go home to eat.

Damian arrived at his second destination, a rooftop closer to Titans tower. He set his taloncycle to autopilot, and grappled up to the rooftop. The batwing had deployed a case of supplies, varying from birdarangs to smoke bombs to other assorted gadgets. Damian hooked them on his back, and jumped from the roof back onto his taloncycle. He attached the case to the back of the cycle, and drove off to Titan's Tower. He accessed his comms, and radioed Batman, saying "Batman, supplies acquired. Approaching the tower now. Alert Robin of my arrival."

Damian drove up the hill to the tower. To his surprise, another person was their waiting. He appeared to be some random kid, a little older then he was. Strange. He didn't know anyone else was joining the Titans. Damian made a hard stop on his taloncycle, and flipped off gracefully, landing with ease on his two feet. He got a closer look at the guy. The first thing he noticed was he wasn't physically trained at all. At least, he didn't appear to be. Of course, he could be a metahuman. Damian had learned not to take appearances at face value in this business. But he still just didn't look the part of a hero. Not wanting to make some sort of mistake, he asked "You there. You a tourist or something?"

redwood tossed his groceries back and forth between his hands as he waited for the arrival of more people. He stretched a bit, and yawned, until someone called out to him. "You there. You a tourist or something?"

redwood turned around to face him. "Ah, hello. I'm here to apply for residency." He looked at him for a while. Strange, he looked like Robin... but younger. "I figured, since I have powers, I might as well help out, and I'm guessing living at this ugly tower is better than living in a dirty, poor apartment... Are you an acquaintance of Robin? I hear a lot of stories about the Titans."

Damian's guess had been correct. The guy was a meta-human, or at least he claimed to be. Still, he really did not look the part. Whatever his power was had better be good, because this kid had nothing else going for him right now. For starters, he clearly had not been physically trained. Unless his power was something to augment that, he could take him down right now. Secondly, he didn't seem to understand the concept of a "secret identity". He was definitely new to the hero business, as facial recognition wasn't picking up anything active on him. "Acquaintance.... I guess that's one way to put it." Damian had never personally met Grayson, though he had heard stories about him from Bruce. He didn't know how much Bruce had told him about Damian either. Regardless, anything the fake son could do, the real son could do better.

Right now, though, Damian needed to know just how deep this guy was in over his head. "So, what's your name? And how long have you been training?"

The Arkham Knight walked towards Titan's Tower, he had rented a boat to get to the island-ish thing the tower stood on, and was currently snacking on some noodles in a Chinese Take-Out Box. The 'Arkham Knight' Helmet was compacted and clipped to his belt, and his usual gear was on his person spread out over the varios belts and pouches, with a Gym Bag carrying Civie clothing and toiletries. The Arkham Knight stood up beside the guy holding groceries, and swallowed his mouthful of noodles, "Is there a doorbell we have to ring?" Arkham asked, before seeing Damian "Is that a Minature Robin I see there?"

redwood nodded at Damien as Damien acknowledged his acquaintanceship with Robin. "That's cool..."

"So, what's your name? And how long have you been training?" asked Damien.

Training? redwood almost jumped at the thought. He hadn't had any training. "My name's redwood lane, without capital letters. Long story. I'm planning to call myself Mark Essex once my fashion business takes flight." He was afraid of breaking the news to him, but he took a deep breath and spit it out, "I don't have any training. I was hoping I could do that here." He took another sigh to get his mind off of it. "So, what's your name?"

Whether or not Damien answered, a boy in a robo-cop suit appeared and, quite rudely, interrupted the conversation with a mouthful of noodles. redwood just smiled and politely answered, "I'm not sure. I never che..." Before he could even finish his sentence, this robo-cop kid interrupts him. redwood sighed. "I noticed the resemblance too."

Great. This "redwood" hadn't trained for a day in his life. Wasn't this supposed to be a team, and not a school? Without knowing what his power was, Damian was sure he could wipe the floor with redwood. "Talon", he replied with his name. He was contemplating telling the kid to go home, when another figure walked up. He was wearing some sort of combat armor, with gear strewn about. If that wasn't enough to draw Damian's attention, the helmet at his side definitely was. On that note, his helmet was off. Here was another idiot completely blowing his secret identities. Damian snapped facial recognition on both of them, and saved it to his suit for further analysis. He figured he'd teach them a lesson on the matter by investigating their identities and hunting for mental pressure points.

The miniature Robin comment was one of the bigger ways you could piss Damian off. "Miniature Robin?!", he said incredulously. "Don't make me laugh. I'm beyond his childish level of training. Anything he can do, I can do better. Besides, you're one to talk. I don't think I've ever seen such a blatant ripoff of the bat-suit before." Damian took a deep breath to calm down. "Anyway, Batman should be informing Robin of my arrival. I assume if you all have reasons to be here, you can go in when I do."

"Uh, Robin? We have a couple people outside the tower. None of 'em look over eighteen. Can't tell with that guy in the batman suit, though." Cyborg spoke to the team leader as he looked at the images that showed up on one of the computers in the main room. It took Robin a bit longer than usual to respond to Cyborg's alert, and the masked man walked over to Cyborg to look at the video feed.

"Let them in, Cyborg. That kid in the robin costume is Talon, Batman's son. He just told me that we should be expecting him, so open up the doors. I'll get the welcome mat." Robin told Cyborg, glancing around at the others in the room. Starfire simply nodded with a small smile as she walked over to the elevator, Beast Boy got up and walked to the elevator as well, and Raven just phased into the floor to get to the lower levels. They knew that Talon was important from what they had heard from Robin, who was the only one who spoke to Batman on the team. They all knew who he truly was, but still they decided on calling Bruce by his alternate name.

Cyborg nodded to Robin and pressed several buttons on the computer, causing an elevator shaft to rise up from the ground. It was rather simple, with no walls or anything, just four pillars to hold up the top that blended into the rocky ground. The Titans Tower was only accessible by going in from underground. The island was pretty much carved out underneath the surface, and was just a large rocky dome to hold the main elevator shaft, the garage, the hangar, and several other things.

Meanwhile, Robin walked to the elevator and stepped in with Starfire on his right and Beat Boy on his left. The door closed in front of all of them and Beast Boy was the first to speak.

"So, he really does go by the name Talon?" The green skinned man asked.

Robin nodded his head and smiled slightly. "Yeah, he does. He probably would have taken the name Robin if I had changed to Nightwing like the alternate future me, but since that didn't happen here, he goes by Talon."

"So..." Beast Boy dragged on. "The Red Robin, was supposed to be just Robin, and the same can be said for that other guy... the Red Hood, I think?" He wasn't really sure if that was his name or not, but Beast Boy's worried were eased when Robin nodded at him.

"I can only assume that Bruce meant for his son, and possibly the others, to all take up the name Robin as some point or another. While it's only an assumption, it's a pretty good one coming from me."

The elevator stopped at the first underground level. The doors opened up and showed the garage that Cyborg took pride in keeping perfect. There were many T-Cars and Robin Cycles all around the Garage, all of them modified in some way or another purposed to handle a certain range of tasks and problems. Some of them had different color schemes, or different parts. Some of them didn't even look close to the original model. On the other end of the Garage was another elevator shaft that led out to the outside of the island that the tower was set up on.

Not long afterwards, Raven phased through the roof of the underground level and stood by her friends in silence. She said nothing as she watched the elevator shaft. She was curious to know about the one of the others that Batman had taken under his wing, and wanted to know how he would react to the first and original apprentice of Batman.
With a steely gaze, the Observer said nothing as he stared at the man at the counter. It seemed like an eternity to the people watching, but in reality it was only a few minutes. With a monotonous voice, he spoke to the man at the counter. "I will wait." He said simply. He refused to move from his spot, and instead just looked around the pizzeria. A few people caught his eye, but he saw very little to worry about. He was forced to wait for his order to be taken, and although he didn't like it, there was no reason for him to act violently. It would only decrease the chances of getting the food, and that would only create more problems..

"Hey big man, can you make all of our lives a little easier and move so we can order to. None of us want to be here longer than we have to," Veyas called from his spot in line relatively calm. The less fighting that happens right now the better.

"It's not like I had a choice with this outfit, I woke up in it a few weeks ago." Arkham said, looking at Robin 4.0 "I'm just lucky Penny Laundries are still a thing..." With that, An Elevator popped up, "Well, here's our ride." Arkham said, filling into the Elevator "Next stop: Base of the Shaft!" The Arkham Knight rode the elevator in silence, finishing his noodles and putting his helmet back on. When the ride ended, and the Elevator doors opened, Arkham walked out before anyone else got the chance. "I may as well get my spiel out of the way first, so the others can do thiers at their own pace." Arkham Said, looking to Robin "I'm The Arkham Knight, I woke up a few weeks ago as what you see before you, I'm Amnesiac and I have skills in fighting, detective work, Tech, Gadgets, and Firearms...I saw the big Tower was still standing, so I jumped at the chance to do more good, and maybee get a home while I'm at it."

Damian scoffed at the newcomer's amnesia excuse. Of course he had amnesia. Why would it be a reasonable explanation? Regardless, the armor warranted investigation. Along with processing their identities, Damian would have to check the suit for tell-tale signs of Wayne-Tech development. Damian was about to retort when the elevator arrived. Without a word, Damian grabbed his supplies, and stepped in. He ignored the newcomer's comment, and remained silent the whole way down. When the doors opened, Damian got his first look at the original Titans; the green peter pan, the goth, the bubbly alien, the cybernetic football quarterback, and Grayson. Well, he wasn't expecting much anyway. Damian calmly strode past the batman imitator, knowing full that he couldn't hold a candle to Damian in any of those skills, and approached the boy wonder.
