Calcifer walked as had been for days, his wolf disguised as a normal wolf, knowing that he had just a little further to go before he could reach a town to rest. As he traveled he came upon a small forested section. "Well you've gotten big in my absence." he spoke to the trees. His pet came up nuzzling his hand, and he, in turn, rubbed between his ears. "not much longer." he said before he continued walking. The trees became larger the further he got into the forest until he happened upon a fallen tree that lay across the road. He smirked as he knew what this was. "Let me guess you want me to turn out my pockets and give you my sword?" there was no response immediately, but he could hear whispers. Then three men came from the bushes and one woman leapt from a tree, but only the woman approached.
"almost, we'll hav' the armor as well." she said walking as if she owned the place. Kronos, Calcifer's wolf, growled low and Calcifer put his hand towards him to hush. Calcifer showed no sign of fear or intimidation he only stood waiting.
"Well w'at you waitin' for?"
"this." Calcifer closed the distance between him and the woman so quick she had no time to react. Once he was close enough he reached into her jacket and pulled out a pack of throwing knives. She gasped as he stole her weapons and shrieked as Kronos jumped on top of her, pinning her to the ground. The three men we taken by surprise at Calcifer's speed, but we're not dazed long. One drew back his bow and fired two arrows while the others charged with short swords. Calcifer grinned as he saw the other thieves attack. 'so they have a bit of courage.' he thought to himself. Quickly rolling to his left he dodged the arrows and returned with two throwing knives to the ones charging him. The knives found their mark embedding just up and to the right of the assailants' hearts. This produced some grunts of pain and them clutching the knife. As those to fell to the ground writhing in pain Calcifer had one more to deal with, the archer. He stood looking him in the eye. The archer was ready to shoot but didn't. He was waiting for a hint of where Calcifer was going to dodge to.
"are you just going to stare at me?" Calcifer mocked. "or do you not have the heart to take a life."
"do it Gregory!" the woman shouted and was quickly silenced by Kronos.
"what's it going to be, you've lost boy. Your leader is mine and your buddies are dead or will be soon." Calcifer could see the fear welling up in the lad, and as he predicted he turned and ran. Calcifer watched him disappear into the woods before turning to the woman who now looked quite nervous and fearful herself. As he approach she tried to escape from under Kronos but to no avail. Tears started to form in her eyes.
"please let me go. I am only 28... I... I have a daughter. Please!" she pleaded in a desperate tone.
"ssshh, I will not harm you. I just want you to pray to your goddess, Queen of theives and assassins. Try to summon her... For me." Calcifer waved his had at Kronos who then stepped off of the woman. She gave Calcifer an odd look as she rose to her knees. "and if I don't?"
"did I mention how tender your skin looks?" the woman's eye widened and she began to pray.
"Roxy, my Queen of Shadows, hear my prayer.
I wish to summon you to spare my life.
In return I will offer half of what I obtain for the trouble I cause you.
Only hear this plea and have mercy on your servant. "
