Name: Naim Fadl Saru
Age: 47
Race: Sarife
Nationality: Sarife
Allegiance: Ghazi Isfendiyar Bayqara Korkud
Appearance: Meek, skinny and rough would be probably the best words for describing Fadl. Looking no different than your ordinary Teke tribesman, complete with slanted eyes almost completely covered by eyelids, which make him look like he's on the verge of sleep, small tufts for eyebrows, large cheeks and a flat, wide nose, all positioned nicely on a concave, wide face. His skin has been dried nearly completely thanks to the strong winds of the Akha Mountains, which gives him the look of crumpled paper when his facial expression changes to anything from its usual, calm look. His wide mouth, housing teeth incredibly healthy and sharp for a man of his status, is mostly covered by his unkempt beard, which slightly extend up to his cheeks. His hair is unkempt and waved back so that it does not interfere with his sight.
His clothing is simple and durable, wearing a thick vest and a mail-and-plate cuirass (with mail-and-plate cuisses attached to it) over a simple, wooly padded sheepskin coat, which is worn over a striped shirt. He also wears a fur cap to cover his head and ears, wide pants that are layered to keep the heat inside, and rugged leather boots that extend up to his knees. He has a large leather holster tied around his sash in front of his belly, holding two pistols and a long thrusting dagger. There's a bandolier slung around his torso, and a miquelet musket slung on his shoulder. He carries a shaska with him at all times.
Profession: Fadl is a hunter, in all senses of the word.
Biography: For the people of the Akha Mountain Ranges, there are few options in life. Fighting each other almost as frequent as they fought nature, either you learned how to use the saber, or you were taught how to die. Fadl was in a no different position - his father was a hunter, his mother was a hunter, and his fate was going to be no different. Fadl did not have problem with accepting this, since to him, that was all that there was to life. Fortunately for him and his family, Fadl turned out to be a prodigy at what he was assigned to do. Somehow being able to sense out everything in even the most extreme temperatures, it was impossible for any animal to escape, if Fadl had set his eyes on it. This allowed his family and his neighbors to thrive even during times of shortage, since Fadl always returned with food, and more than often he would end up hunting creatures whose furs could be sold to nobles for high prices. Going to the cities alongside his tribe's traders to sell the goods himself, he witnessed, and was intrigued, by the relative extravagancy of city life. During this time, he developed a dream of becoming a wandering trader.
However, most of his youth ended up getting spent in the frontlines of a war. The leader of his tribe, Hinjal Shah, had been pursuing the goal of destroying the tribe of Karaman and taking over their settlements, for the Karaman were in a position suitable for farming, and Hinjal Shah knew that his people couldn't thrive with mere hunting. For a small time, Fadl's father was a retainer in Hinjal Shah's 'army', but after losing a few toes to a stray arrow, the man relocated back to hunting. However, for Fadl, that was not the case - his talent at hunting made him somewhat famous amongst the members of the tribe, and Hinjal Shah invited him to a feast, where he almost forcibly made him into the commander of a 'frontier reconnaissance squad', which was a glorified name for a bandit group. He and a handful men were given the duty of 'disrupting enemy logistics'. Technically, the entire tribe was part of the war machine, and this meant that they had to attack not only patrols, but also regular settlements, and burn down crops, tents, and other supplies.
Fadl, seeing himself as a henchman and merely the enforcement of someone else's will, saw this as his duty, and simply braced it as he was forced to lead an endless chevauchee. Thanks to the tenacity of the Karaman and the tactical incompetence of Hinjal Shah, however, his job eventually lost meaning, as the fields Hinjal Shah had wanted to take so dearly had lost all value after all the raiding. Watching men, women and children of both tribes starve and die thanks to his actions, Fadl at first planned to kill Hinjal Shah to clear his conscience, but out of respect to his lord's suzerain position, he instead left the tribe of Teke and the Akha Mountains, and slowly integrated himself into life in the fields, and through there, cities, to start over, and fulfill his teenage dreams. Little did he know that he was set for another disappointment, however. Life in the city was just as worse as, if not worse than, the life in the mountains. Shunned for his tribesman ancestry, and unable to fill his stomach, he started looking for different kinds of work.
Finding himself knee deep in a smuggling ring, Fadl at first became a higher-up of the opium trade wing, and earned the trust of the ring leader Khidbabra thanks to his loyalty and efficiency. However, as time passed and Fadl's influence grew, he noticed that they were not just smuggling food and opium, but also people. At first, Fadl just tried to look over it, but then he realized that they were not just smuggling people - they were selling them, to positions lower than slavery. This drove Fadl over the edge. He slaughtered through the entire smuggling ring, and fearing repercussion, left for a monastery in Korkuteli, having heard of a woman who could apparently purify even the darkest of consciences, Ghazi Darya. It was there he met Ghazi Isfendiyar Bayqara Korkud. United through their mutual love and respect of Ghazi Darya, Korkud and Fadl quickly became inseparable. Fadl respects Ghazi Isfendiyar Bayqara Korkud's position as a noble and views him as not only a friend but also suzerain.
Notable skills/abilities: Fadl is almost prodigious in everything that has tracking and observing in it. A true predator, his five senses are incredibly sharp, and his reflexes have become faster than even his mind, thanks to his dangerous practice of climbing without equipment, which has also given him the advantage of being incredibly fast in fighting, perhaps even faster than his walking sensory overload of a lord, Ghazi Isfendiyar Bayqara Korkud. One could sum Fadl up as a snake - coiled in place, waiting to strike. He also has a rather unnerving ability of predicting people's actions and words.
Other Notes: Likes the taste of fine gunpowder.
