"I just don't that the Catalyst- Kiara, I mean, is really such a bad person as we all assume she is. If she was, than Trixie wouldn't choose to help her and tell me stop attacking her. And I don't think that if she was willing to stop trying to hurt me, simply because of the fact that Trixie said that I'm a good person, that she's really that bad."

“Heh, that’s not what she was saying before,” Kiara mumbled, referring to Trixie’s hostility towards her in the last couple of hours. Though of course, she said nothing on how it was justified to begin with.

Giltwith nodded at Elliot’s response, apparently taking his words seriously and with respect. Moving forward, he raised his mighty sword above him. Tensing, Kiara was prepared to jump out of the way in case the Knight decided to go against his word.

Luckily enough, nothing of the sort happened as he brought it down to destroy the handcuffs binding her wrists. Moving over, he did the same thing to Trixie as well.

“I trust Elliot. If he trust you two, then that’s enough for me.”

Kiara rubbed her wrists and grinned.

“One night and I already have some allies.”

"Well maybe I said something different before because the first thing you did when we met, was breaking into my house and kidnapping me!" Trixie defended herself, looking at Kiara. Of course she had reached differently at first, what did she expect?

Elliot wasn't sure why Gilwith trusted him already, despite knowing him just a day. He supposed it was a good thing, however. "Good to know that you're on our side. Though I guess that if we're risking our lives for you, we at least deserve an explanation." He said, looking at Kiara.

"Well maybe I said something different before because the first thing you did when we met, was breaking into my house and kidnapping me!"

“Yeah, yeah. I was trying to save you back there. Like I’m trying to do right now you know,” Kiara answered back with a sigh. Between them, Giltwith looked at Elliot once more. Truth be told, he wanted to know for himself why a fellow agent of the Imperium had defected so willingly. The reason why he trust Elliot so was to understand both is reasonings and the Catalyst’s as well.

"Good to know that you're on our side. Though I guess that if we're risking our lives for you, we at least deserve an explanation."

“Yes, it would prove helpful to know the logic behind the infamous Catalyst’s madness. Or, would you prefer to be called your Imperium title? Flaming-Eyed Assassin?”

Kiara shrugged.

“Don’t know why I got the Catalyst one, but I suppose being called my full rank couldn’t hurt. What I’m doing is very simple. Basically, the Imperium is corrupted. What more do you want?”

"I didn't need you to save me if you didn't break into my house in the first place!" Trixie reminded her. Granted, she had good intentions, but how ignorant and annoying could a person possibly be? This woman was unbelievable.

"What exactly do you mean with corrupted?" Elliot asked, looking at Kiara. He was still not sure as to what to think of her, but if Trixie was willing to believe her, than he supposed there was at least something good in Kiara. He knew it may just sound stupid, but he trusted the AI. They had been friends for a long time. He knew what she was like, and that she hated bad people more than anyone he knew. Nor was she the gullible kind of person.

"What exactly do you mean with corrupted?"

Kiara gave Elliot an incredulous look, followed by, “Are you kidding me? You…don’t really pay attention, do you? No one in the world really likes the Imperium. You all just act like it because they control everything.”

The Catalyst crossed her arms as Giltwith stared at her curiously. It had just occurred to him that she was his senior, as least in Imperium Knight standards. Perhaps he could learn a few combat skills from the famed assassin.

“Anyway,” Kiara continued. “It makes sense if you didn’t know, seeing as the Imperium is secretive beyond belief. What they’re doing is sacrificing innocent people under some stupid doctrine. I have reason to believe that it’s all to summon forth some primordial beast. A deity…but luck for us, I stole the last key to their ritual.”

With a smirk, Kiara summoned forth Volunta from her coat pocket, the blade having appeared from thin air.

Elliot nodded, having seen the blade before. If he remembered it all correctly, she had used it back in Trixie's house.

"And now that you do posess that thing, what are you planning to do with it? Destoying it seems a good option, if it can be destroyed." He asked her. He was exhausted and just needed some sleep, but supposed he might as well first get his questions answered before worrying about getting some rest.

Trixie didn't say anything. She had heard this all before already, and there was no reason to bother them with questions now. Of course, she was happy to see her friend again, but it looked like their reunition had to wait for a moment.

"And now that you do possess that thing, what are you planning to do with it? Destroying it seems a good option, if it can be destroyed."

“Destroy it?” Kiara questioned, brandishing the blade. “Well I tried that at first. Turns out this thing is stronger than I expected. I tried everything from smelting to tossing it away, but it always comes back somehow. It’s like it has a mind of its own…”

As if to emphasize her point, Kiara’s hands suddenly moved in a blur of speed, slashing the air in a wide arc. A split-second later, and a small clank sound could be heard. Looking down, Kiara’s eyes widened as a smoking bullet now lay at her feet.

“See what I mean?”

Having their cover blown, a mass of golden-armored knights stepped out from the shadows. Some held in their gauntlets short blades and swords while others held rifles, now aimed at the traitors.

That would explain the bullet shot.

Elliot looked at the knights, cursing under his breath. He could try to cast a shield to protect him and the others, but it wouldn't last long with so many knights attacking them. And if they would try running, there was still a big chance that they would get shot. Still, he refused to give up, figuring that there had to be something they could do.

"Any suggestions?" He asked the others, being clueless himself.

"Any suggestions?"

“Are you serious?”

Kiara gave Elliot and Trixie a bewildered look, exasperation and worry now festering in her eyes. It was bad enough that they were surrounded, but to charge ahead without a proper plan in action? Even an assassin, skilled as they were, needed some falsehood to fall back on.

“Do any of you seriously not know how to fight?”

If that was the case, then this would be a serious problem indeed. Realizing this, Giltwith stood by the Catalyst and held his mighty sword outwards, ready to deflect any oncoming attacks. At least that would buy them some time.

Elliot looked at her and frowned. She had just fought with him a moment ago, what kind of question was that?

"Of course I know how to fight, but at this I don't know how much energy I still have left to cast spells! Casting numerous fireballs, handcuffs, shields, saving one's life and chasing after someone does costs a lot if energy, in case you didn't know." He said, lighting up a fireball and preparing to attack. He had no idea how much use he would be, but he could at least try.

Trixie who really didn't know how to fight, had no idea of what she should do.

“Well crap,” Kiara muttered.

As the first of the golden warriors leapt forward towards Trixie, Giltwith appeared in front of her in less than a second. Rearing his arms back, she sliced forward with his sword. Metal scraped on metal as the golden Knight deflected the blow, the sheer force behind Giltwith’s attack being enough to force him back.

“I’ll protect you,” he said, looking at Trixie. “Kiara, Elliot, you two find some way to get us out of here. Do any of you know transportation magic?”

Trixie jumped back in surprise when the knight leapt forward, even though Gilwith was in time to protect her. A small, scared yelp had escaped her mouth, and she had no clue about what to do.

Elliot sighed, shaking his head. He never bothered to learn any teleportation magic, not having enough interest in it.

"Do you?" He asked, looking at Kiara.

Kiara tensed as she soon realized that their situation was more dangerous than anticipated. She shook her head at Elliot’s question. No, no magic for her. The only thing she had was her control over fire and that other little trick, though it wouldn’t really work out for a crowd of this size.

Of course, there was always the Volunta. Glancing down at her blade, an idea soon formed itself in her head and she gripped the weapon’s hilt tightly.

“Everyone, I think it would be best if you all grabbed on to me,” she warned as the soldier now began to advance. “Trust me, you’re gonna want to hang onto me tightly for this…”

Elliot wasn't sure what use it would have to hold onto Kiara, but decided to ask no questions and did as she told them to.

Trixie quickly nodded, moving over to Kiara an holding on to her. If this was going to help them get away, than she was perfectly good with it.

Giltwith released one more wave of energy from his blade before leaping back and holding onto Kiara as well. Mistaking this as a sign of surrender, the mass of golden knights soon descended upon them. Smirking, Kiara placed the front end of her Volunta behind her and tensed. Suddenly, a massive force propelled them forward, ripping them through the heavy line of soldiers.

A burst of silver energy had erupted from the blade onwards, acting as a rocket of sorts that sent them dashing forward. They continued to go on in light of the knight’s confusion, before they too began to give chase.

“Nice trick, huh? This thing has three more and that’s just the first.”

Trixie wasn't sure how to react to the sudden speed of the movement, mot being used to it. Of course Shr could run fast, but this was different and unexpected.

Elliot had been expecting something, but not this. Regardless, she supposed she should be happy with the fact that they had a way to escape.

It wouldn’t be until they were a good block or two away before the Volunta ceased in its propulsion. Skidding to a stop, Kiara jolted as her feet made contact with solid ground once more. Likewise, the rest of the group didn’t fare too well. Giltwith spluttered out onto the ground, rolling out before finally catching himself to a halt.

“Heh, hope it wasn’t too rough,” Kiara said shakily. “At least we got away, right?”

“Indeed we did. Though I’m afraid we’ll have more problems soon. Look up.”

Kiara did so and immediately frowned. The sun was already beginning to rise up over the horizon, slowly illuminating the city to a new day. Suddenly, Kiara became aware of just how tired she really was. Any more exhaustion, and she would pass out.

“Did we really waste the whole night?” Kiara muttered, rubbing her sleep deprived eyes.

Elsewhere at the hospital, Spencer took note of the rising sun as he followed Jackie inside. Tipping his fedora forward, he smirked knowingly before heading inside himself.

“Excuse me.”

He paused at the voice, realizing that someone was blocking their way. A girl? He glanced at her armor. No, a Knight.

The girl looked them over before pausing.

“Are you Miss Jackie? And Mr. Spencer?

"It looks like we did. Still, I suppose we find ourselves somewhere to rest, I believe we can all use that." Elliot answered, after he had gotten back on his feet and was looking up to the sky. He knew that at least he could use some sleep himself, and it seemed like that counted for the others, too.

Trixie nodded in agreement. Although she couldn't exactly get tired, her battery was running low. A chance to recharge would be good.

Meanwhile, Jackson was in the hospital, looking at the girl. "My name is Jackson, not Jackie. But yes, that would be us. Why do you wish to know?"

"My name is Jackson, not Jackie. But yes, that would be us. Why do you wish to know?"

“O-Oh! Uh, well, see, I-I, um…”

The girl didn’t think that these two would actually be the ones she was to look for. That had been way too easy. Or maybe she had just gotten lucky? Who knew? However, upon finding them both so quickly, the girl now became flustered, trying to remember what she was to say next.

Spencer watched her intently, his eye flicking with hidden emotion before placing his hands in his pockets lazily. He was about to issue an order himself to the young Knight before she got her bearings.

“Ah! Well, I’m here to assist you two! We’ve received reports from the Imperium that two Knights turned rouge and fled. I’m supposed to help you track them down I guess?”

Spencer smirked.

“Ah. You must be the detective I requested then!”

"It looks like we did. Still, I suppose we find ourselves somewhere to rest, I believe we can all use that."

“Agreed,” Giltwith said. “Shall we look for suitable resting spots then?”

"Well, I suppose we can use some help. But if you don't mind, I went to the hospital with a reason. And the sooner that's taken care of, the sooner we can get back to work." Jackson said to the two, before searching for a doctor who could help her.

"Well, there should be a motel somewhere close... It's far from great, but it's something." Trixie suggested, looking at the other three.

Elliot sighed. "I don't think we're really in the position to be picky, so I suppose anything would be good, even a motel."
