slight edit to my bio, replaced pro wrestling with sumo out of laziness, since it's harder to get pro wrestling moves right in a roleplay compared to being a strongfat dude who does open hand strikes a lot. Besides it'll work better with my general plan and still links with Kinnikuman thanks to one specific character, a poor dude by the name of Wolfman. Or Rikishiman. Sosumi in the Ultimate Muscle dub. Wolfman, let's call him that, was introduced as a Japanese rival to Kinnikuman at a point where the comedy was firmly secondary to the fightan. He was a sumo wrestler who had particularly badass muscles in a world of hypermuscular supermen, which instantly made him popular with readers.
Thing is, out of the entire cast, he got shafted the hardest. Basically everyone that mattered got a chance to shine and be badass at some point, even early antagonists made returns and they got to show off why people should be interested in them, win or lose. Wolfman was the jobbiest jobber that ever jobbed. He beat an obvious fodder character that gave him no glory whatsoever then lost to the main character at sumo of all things. Then he lost to the main character's american best friend in a popularity contest. The sumo guy lost in a sumo match, then lost to the american with a home crowd advantage.
And he just...never really got to do any cool shit. Ever. He was always offed first and without much trouble to show off how dangerous the new enemies were. He never even got to fight three arcs in a row. Once because he killed himself so the MC might live (okay kinda cool that), then he got oneshot in the next before he could do a damn thing and he was just not called to be a part of the MC's team at any point in the final arc, where even the MC's non-wrestling sidekick got to win a match because his team was short of people. For a series that was so good about giving everyone glorious moments, Wolfman stood out for just never catching a break. And that's why my guy does sumo now. In honor of Wolfman. I'mma show you the power of sumo.
