You have been joyfully invited or forcibly forced to spend a luxuriously luxurious hotel of luxury. yay.
[~The Story~]
However not all is luxuriously; The manager, one Ketlin Bolts, is on a chronic search throughout the building: a dangerous thief who plans to steal... something from the hotel! We can't have that now can we? With this going on please do enjoy your stay at our fine establishment, get a nice drink at the bar, take a nice swim in the pool, eat out at our three star restaurant, but most importantly! Please do mind the manager, and anyone else acting 'strange'. This will only cramp the fun you will be having here at the grand 8-bit Hotels!
The actual "Story Mode" of this roleplay will be based off the ideal of assimilation, similar to John Carpenter's The Thing. Characters who are "enabled" to be in Story Mode will have things happen to them, where some players might get private messages depicting if they're "influenced" or not.
[what is The Influence?]
As the roleplay continues, characters (enabled in storymode) may find themselves "influenced" by a darker power. This influence will be passed onto various roleplayers as the story progresses, from private messages by me.
The influence itself is an assimilation process of short, where if one is influenced, they become another person... or the same person who is controlling the influence. The influenced will act like who they were originally perfectly, but will have goals an objectives brought down by the main controller. The influenced gain strange, powerful abilities if they were to be found out. These are granted by the main influencer, and cannot be activated by the influenced themselves. In the future of the roleplay there will be a cure to the Influence, but for now it's permanent.
The rules for The Influence are as follows:
0) These rules will be mostly about "if I tell you to do something, do it" with your characters; Please don't take it as me being unfun or bossy, I am taking control of your character at all; This is just to keep story going, and to keep people questioning who is influenced or not. Please carefully read through these, :S
1) When I private message a player and tell them that their character is influenced, they cannot argue against it.
2) When your character is influenced, you will play that character as you would normally: I will send you "objectives" that your character needs to do, or things your character needs to do in their next post. (These objectives don't need to be completed in one post, but of the course of some if needed)
3) In my private messages I will ask people to show off symptoms; (Example: Hair falling out, biting your thumb until it bleeds) They will need to put this somewhere in their posts cleverly, as they would with "objectives.
4) I suggest strongly that if one of your characters is influenced, that they should keep it subtle. The influence does not change how your character acts immediately, and if you become recently influenced you shouldn't hint at it in your posts.
5) Feel free to also suggest ideas to me about what your character can do! I'm always flexible with that. :)
6) As with the objectives and symptoms piece, I may even send you dialogue that your character will say in their next post.
7) People can only be assimilated by if I private message them, another influenced cannot declare a person assimilated without my consent. I will be able to do this when I see an interaction that would involve this,
[Rules]
1) Standard Roleplaying manners (No godmodding, auto-hitting/dodging)
2) No arguing with the GM, or with anyone in the OOC or IC,
3) Put "wow what a terrific audience" at the end of your Character Sheet if you read the rules,
4) Three Character limit currently,
5) Roleplayers must wait for two other people to post before they can post again.
6) Original Characters are allowed,
7) You do not have to be apart of Story Mode, as this roleplay is Sandbox oriented. However if your character is enabled you must be flexible with how the "Influence" works. **I will add in the definition of the Influence tomorrow**
8) As I will be giving players the freedom to have their own interactions and stories in the hotel, the only thing I request is that it is not larger than the Story Mode.
