That actually makes sense. Outside of anime the only real moves Rika acts in has been in the horror genre, so a fan of horror, if not an anime fan, would know her best. Her singing career as a pop idol wouldn't be what Tohru would know her from.

Maybe once she got decapitated that was the well known punch line the killer said.
