The Palace of the High Chancellor,
Sau Paulo,
The United Republics of the Southern Americas (URSA),

”…and so, proud citizens of this great and powerful URSA, I once again thank and congratulate you for the continued support in this year’s general election. I have led you from turmoil and destruction, like none the world has ever seen, into an age of prosperity, industry and wealth. Many thought this would be at the cost of our culture and our freedoms but I ask you now, do you see western products lining our shops? Do you see western culture adorning our galleries and museums? Do you hear western music play out in the streets? The answer to all of these questions is no. You wanted a powerful government that would place the needs of the South American people above those of the immigrants and non-citizens. The call that our party take supreme control has been made many a time but we rebuke that offer! Whilst protecting our nationalism we do this in a democratic and fair manner. We will not dictate your lives. I say welcome to the glorious future that you, my people, have before you.”
-The ending of the speech made by current High Chancellor of the URSA, Renaldo Silva.

High Chancellor Renaldo Silva
The High Chancellor was all smiles and handshakes as he came into his offices that morning, the sun was shining, the birds were singing and state industry had just met the terms of their first five year plan 4 months ahead of the schedule. The mood seemed to sweep around the other Ministers and staff as they seemed to work harder as if the presence of a cheerful leader had invigorated them. The good mood was not to last though, in reality they never did in the world of politics. The High Chancellors desk was piled high with forms that required his approval and other bureaucratic nightmares that he had his staff run through during the course of the night. Sighing he pressed a button to close the steel shutters on his grand window and switched on a lamp that hung over his writing area. He had always worked better in artificial light. Opening the documents that required the most attention he read through each. Whilst with less important affairs, slight tax changes or the opening of a new sports stadium, he signed without reading most of it in the case of the larger documents placed on top of piles of paper he read these carefully as they contained the more important legislation or orders. Pulling out a pen he signed the first of the folders, scanned it in and then placed it into an outgoing box, every order was electronic however he had ordered that there be hard copies as he felt they were more historic and more secure. Coming to the second proposition Renaldo sat back before asking for his Foreign Minister and his Minister of the Interior. Each one arrived silently, placed their notes on the subject and left. It was a serious matter and Renaldo was in no mood for arguments. Reading the sheets carefully he took his time before drafting a letter and placing that in the outgoing box, without scanning it.

Agent Daniel Ramon
The armoured car was almost silent as it travelled down the surprisingly smooth dirt track that led to the village that was the team’s destination. Reaching down Daniel checked his gun over one more time. He was always nervous just before action, even pitiful action such as this, however knew that he always relaxed as things got going. The briefing was a short one that night, the agent in charge of the operation had arrived in his squad’s quarters and given them their objectives in less than a minute. There should be no fuck ups tonight, Daniel thought. A red light flashed on above their heads and each man stood, the car was tall, long and wide and more reminiscent of a truck however it had had the engine severely cut in size and the armour wasn’t as thick as a military man would have liked. This left the vehicle much quieter, but in a firefight it wouldn’t stand up to a wet paper bag. Which is why it had been chosen for the mission they were on. Daniel pulled the mask over his face as a yellow light came on and his uniform was complete. Daniela and 5 other men in the car were wearing matching black exo-armour, designed to be free to move in whilst providing shot stopping protection to the larger areas of the body, torso, legs and arms. Joints were uncovered. They then all wore short black robes that swept over their shoulders making them look almost wraith like; the look was complete by a permeable black mask that took away the features of their face. These were the Black Robes, an elite secret police used by the URSA government to enforce their laws in more ‘unethical means’. Finally every man and women felt the brakes applied and watched as the yellow light flashed green, in silence each one of them disembarked from the vehicle by a rear drop down door and spread out over a paved plaza. Taking a knee the squad formed a circle and established their perimeter, happy with the safety of the team the agent in charge made a signal over the transmitters and each agent began their job Daniel walk silently over to the large barn like building and knocked gently on the door. The village was made up of three larger buildings, like the one Daniel was in front of now, a number of smaller huts and then a tiny shopping complex that provided basic amenities. Another agent fell in behind Daniel and he knocked again. An overweight man with a distinct French accent answered the door.
“What?”
Before the man could even speak out in horror the agent behind Daniel had placed her gun against the man’s head and fired point black, the silenced sub machine gun was set to semi-auto and a single round caused his skull to crumple. Both of the agents stepped into the building and methodically moved from room to room, killing every person they found. With the building cleared the agents left and began working through the huts. The two other teams of two had already cleared the other two larger buildings and had started on the huts as well. Once the village was swept and every person was dead the leading agent made another call. Two minutes later a chopper arrived carrying a disposal team who made the bodies ‘disappear’ whilst the agents set up the final part of the plan. As the disposal team finished and the agents returned to their car each unit departed leaving a ghost village behind them. Ten seconds out Daniel pressed a trigger in his palm and heard a gentle whoosh as a number of rockets took off from the village, followed by a loud explosion as the village itself was decimated by explosives. The next morning’s news would be dominated by the story ‘Western terrorists launch missile strike at army barracks, luckily under reconstruction, from within French Guiana’.

The Castle of The Emperor
New Orleans,
Louisiana

"...This is why, great people of Louisiana, citizens of a small yet very strong kingdom, why we hold this Mardi Gras celebration, in honor of my late father, Bobby Jindal the 1st, and in Honor of the next heir, Bobby Jindal the 3rd. I, the son of the first king, promise you all, that we shall not fall, we shall defend our boot, till the last man, we, the people of Louisiana, who have survived so much in so little time, WILL NEVER SURRENDER. We may be in peace now, we may be in peace during my sons age, but peace shall not last. They may be invaders from the south. They may be invaders from the north, they will invade, and when they do, we shall fight. We shall never die, we shall never give up, we shall never Surrender."
-Ending of Speech made by Bobby Jindal the 2nd, Emperor of Louisiana, King of the great nation, and High Lord of the South.

Emperor Bobby Jindal the 2nd of Louisiana

Later that day, Bobby Jindal the 2nd, Emperor of Louisiana, High lord of the South, was in a fairly good mood. He slept good, no threats of assassination, and no crazy meetings today. He could finally just go into his office and rest, after he finished his diplomatic letters of course. He walked into his office where he saw his assistant and diplomatic adviser, Boudreaux Noelle.
"What is it Boudreaux" asked the great leader, annoyed?
"Sir, Sir, We need more allies, I fear that sooner or later an invasion from the south will begin" stated Boudreaux.
"And who exactly would you recommend for this alliance Boudreax".
"Well I would say someone who could invade the invaders from the south from the south, and someone with a great army, my great Emperor".
"So you would say, I don't know, The United Republics of the Southern Americas and the United Kingdom, is that who you would want Boudreaux"?
"Yes my Emperor, King of this great nation, High lord of the south, that is all".

In the Headquarters of the EC

Jame's stood there looking out the large window seeing the mountains and snow made him feel happy. He then heard a knock and the door and said "Come in". The Door opened and in came was his Foreign Minister Kathy. Jame's turned around and sat at his desk. She then put some files on the desk and said "Sir it seems the countries around us dislike us." Jame's nodded she was new so she wasn't up to date on the situation. "Your point" Jame's said in a hushed voice. "Well, Sir I was thinking we could stop our slave force and perhaps offer a one time World Meeting to discuss the current order of things. If for nothing else then to gain allies in the America's and Maybe China." Jame's nodded none of his other Ministers from the job offered the idea. "Alright send the word out we'll have it in Paris." She nodded and walked out. She was a new minister from the EC who just got a view of the larger world would that help him or cause the undoings of her.

Bobby sat in his office, staring out the window, when Boudreaux, his Diplomatic adviser, walked in.
"What is it Boudreaux" Bobby Jindal II asked.
"Great King, the EC has sent us a request for a meeting in Paris" Boudreaux states.
"Show me the letter Boudreaux".
Boudreaux went back and got the letter, bringing it to Bobby for his eyes to see.
"Well, send him a letter saying I accept" the King states.

Council Building, Washington D.C, USNA
The Council Building stood proudly on part of the former National Mall, a long, wing-like skyscraper. It was the first modern skyscraper in Washington D.C, and could be seen from nearly any location. It was truly the center of the government, with luxurious apartments for the council members built into it. The lower floors were a museum, detailing the history of the city and the USNA. An observation deck occupied half of the top floor, an augmented reality display on the windows identifying a host of different buildings for the tourists. The other half was a restaurant, which was also equipped with an augmented reality display. In the center of mass of the building was the council chamber, a circular room with dozens upon dozens of seats for the council. A central podium was reserved for the president.

Cameras monitored the room, broadcasting every meeting to screens directly outside and to televisions across the nation. Not that anyone outside the building actually watched it, it was simply a way to keep the citizens happy. After all, a government that let's you see everything it does has to be a trustworthy one. Today, the observation lounges were packed with visitors. There had been rumors that the President was going to announce another one of his plans. He always did it at the end, though, so everyone had to sit through hours of boring conversation. After what seemed like an eternity of discussing industry growth, economic recovery, the constant threats of Louisiana and Aztlan, the meeting was finally almost over.

The President tapped his mic lightly, silencing the council. Clearing his throat, he began to speak. His tone was friendly, yet carried a feeling of confidence, and a slight hint of excitement he could not hold back.

"People of the United States of North America!" He said "We have multiple space stations in Earth Orbit, and a respectable fleet of spaceplanes to preform maintenance, launch sattelites, and other such duties. In other words, orbit has been conquered by humanity. A great achievement, for sure, but there's something strange about all this. We control orbit, and astronauts travel there casually, but does anybody in this room remember the last time anyone set foot on the moon?"

There was silence, as nobody in the Council was old enough to remember a time so long ago. To them, it was just history, not something that had happened. Instead, it was a thing they read about in history books. Despite his age, the President spoke as if he remembered, his voice seemingly filled with nostalgia.

"The answer is no. That fact shows that something is wrong, something that needs to be set right. Therefore I challenge the American people to finally go back, to do what we swore we would do for so many years. Never before have the stars shone so brightly in the night sky, never before have they seemed so close! So I challenge this nation to reach out, to prove that we are not just a shadow of the old USA! We will let the word know that we are no longer the gazelle licking it's wounds! And we won't stop there! This is no stunt, we are going back, and we're going to stay! The world will know that we are the true America!"

The speech was met with resounding applause, and the President saluted the Council, stepping away from the microphone. The Minister of Foreign Relations followed him out, she was about the same age as him, with brown hair and just slightly taller. She had a thin body, and no part of it was an exception. The look in her large, grey eyes was like that of a child in a new place for the first time. She'd lived through the war alongside Fergus, the two met at a meeting of... like-minded individuals in a back alley. Ever since then, they had been like brother and sister.

"So, got any ideas on the fusion reactor?" She asked cheerfully

"Yeah, looking into geothermal heating so we actually get power out of it. I still want cold fusion, but you've gotta climb the ladder to get to the top. Say, have you heard about the situation in the British Isles?"

"Yeah, why?"

"The UK, the former government there hasn't given up yet. I've been there on multiple occasions, and I can tell you for a fact that the people there cannot be happy about the EC being in control. Despite that, they are in control. You and I both know that's wrong, and you and I both know what we're here for. What all of us are here for."

"You want to help them?"

"Yes. The people here would support it, besides, I'm the hero that fixed the economy. We all know what happened in the thirties with Germany, whoever fixes the country fixes the hearts of the people on themselves. They wouldn't object to liberation, it's nothing that hasn't happened before. The difference is, this time it won't result in a corrupt government and lower living standards."

"I have to agree, it's the right thing to do, and we can do it. Should I send a message?"

"Yes, I'm giving you full control over the issue up until action is taken on it by the UK. At that point, obviously, we'll all be involved."

"Oh!" She said, raising her index finger.

"What is it?"

"It's that woman, Miss Sora says she might have a lead. A charity worker in Paris fits her description, quite a coincidence, considering the EC wants to hold a conference there. A perfect excuse to look for her."

"Well, looks like we're going to Paris."

The Castle of the Emperor
New Orleans,
Louisiana

The Castle of the Emperor stood tall in the business area of New Orleans, the huge marble Castlescrape (Castle + Skyscraper) standing above anything in the city. It was the tallest building in the country, dwarfing the former capital building in Baton Rouge, The first 10 floors where rooms dedicated to past victories against the USNA with one of the rooms have a picture showing the comparisons, and somehow, even with the USNA being much larger, Louisiana is still independent. A giant balcony was on the top of the castle for just the royal family, it also had a plaque on the top of it stating that it was the tallest building on the continent, which Louisiana typically rubbed in the face of the USNA.

Bobby Jindal the 2nd sat on the balcony, looking out at the Gulf of Aztlan. He looked down at his city, a land he and his father got independent after a war against one of the strongest countries in existence.

"You mad USNA" Bobby thought to himself, smiling.

Suddenly, Boudreaux called up Bobby's phone stating how the USNA is probably planning an invasion and how they are insulting us by calling us a dictatorship.

Bobby simple replied he didn't care what those horrible Yankees thought about there great country and he turned it off.

5 Hours Later, French Quarter
"People of Louisiana, we are not scared of what is too come, as we are unbeatable, we have a great tower, we have our land, we have our oil, we are not scared, it can be the USNA or Aztlan but we will stay independent, they can hurt us, they can kill us, but they shall not defeat us, we are the great people of Louisiana, and we shall not lose" stated Bobby Jindal the 2nd to the people at his speech.

The speech was same old same old, some cajun food, a bounce house for the kids, everything like that, the street performers around them impressed everyone there, and Bobby was happy.

"We do not care if they have more land or more people, we do not care if they are more advanced, we shall fight them if they attack us, and if they do attack us, we shall beat them. Do you hear me Fergus McClain, cause I know you have spies here watching us, we aren't scared of you. Now I don't want you to fight us, as a war would be bad for both of us right now, but I hope you understand Fergus, we shall fight back, we have allies, we have people willing to help us, unlike you."

The crowd around Bobby Jindal went wild, screaming with happiness and chanting his name. Bobby was elated.

"So, people of Louisiana, it is my pleasure to announce, we are in the process of creating a spacestation to orbit around the earth and be a launch pad if we ever have the ability to colonies other planets."

Once again, the crowd screamed, some proud, some amazed, and some confused, Bobby didn't care though, as he was in a great mood.

Louisiana Border, USNA Side
"Heh, they think we have spies. We don't have spies, we have informants. Just like they have Emperors and not dictators!"

The entire barracks laughed at the young soldier's joke, there were few rules in the border guard despite the animosity between Louisiana and the USNA. Nobody expected an attack, so they were usually as loud as they wanted. For the older troops, it was much better than the border situations they remembered. Many had been stationed at the Korean border, where they had to constantly stand in front of a bridge in complete silence. They were like statues back then, not people. It was nice to have a chance to go back without having to leave the military.

"Hey, hey, what do you call it when Louisiana tries to launch a rocket?" Said another, pausing as everyone waited for the punchline. "Friendly fire!"

The barracks once again erupted in laughter, having no idea that a war wasn't in the near future. In fact, the President was enjoying Bobby's ambition to develop space. And everyone knew that when the President said something, the rest of the country found themselves agreeing with him.
