Ben raises an eyebrow and asks, "If you have no quarrel with us, why do your people need a soldier here? Wouldn't a diplomat be more useful?"

Odd, she would have thought that she would have explained more of the situation leading to her arrival. Perhaps it was too painful to remember. But that wasn't a problem now. "Neither. You assume I'm here for a specific purpose. I was sent away to escape a war that my father was fighting. The cruiser I was aboard was attacked and destroyed." Even though she was supressing her memories telling the story was dredging up buried emotions. There was a slight twinge of sadness in her expression before she pushed it away. "The war was lost. I escaped in the ship you likely found me in. It was a drop ship which is why it had the items that changed me. It was a military vessel."

Ben sighs, "Alright, fine. So what now?"

Looking around she tried to figure out what to do. "I am unsure. From what you say I sense that my transformation was not intentional. Ordinarily the item is reserved for emergencies."

Ben slowly circles her, head tilted as he asks, "I'm assuming the transformation was more than just cosmetic, so what can you do?"

As Ben circled she kept an eye on him. Clearly he was sizing her up, still wary of her intent. The feeling was mutual and she crossed her arms defiantly. "Why should I tell you that?"

Ben stops and crouches as his suit appear, then answers, "Because I'm telling you to. If you don't convince me that you aren't a threat to the students here, I'm going to assume that you are, and act accordingly."

"That is not necessary. We were happy to have a meal with someone who is not family." Griffin wondered if now was the time to leave. He did not want to leave. Still he had taken up more of Kalinda's time then he had planned to. "Now that we have completed our plans of movie and meal, do you wish us to leave?"

Not moving Estella grimaced and shot back. "I would hold your tongue if I were you." Ben taking a defensive stance wasn't helping the situation. While Estella had a logical side her instinct to fight was just as strong. She wouldn't mind testing her newly honed abilities.

Ben leans against a tree, his casual stance contrasting the warning in his voice as he says, "You have three seconds to tell me the answer to what I asked."

Counting out loud to three she smiled and waited for him to make a move. "You're making a mistake bug."

Ben chuckles, "Spiders are arachnids." He rolls backward up the tree, grabs a long, sturdy branch, then leaps forward, yanking it off the tree. He flies toward Estella, branch whirling above his head, then slams it at the ground near her feet, hoping to cause her to jump back.

Estella reaches out and flicks him on the forehead to prove she doesn't care for his theatrics. Lifting her right leg she turns slightly to kick him in the side. Her speed and strength matched that of Ben's which was definitely not one of Estella's strong points during the fight with Mimic just earlier that day.

Ben bends forward, ducking under Estella's kick. While her leg is still in the air, Ben swings the branch around, striking her hard, behind her knee. Immediately after landing the strike, he puts the branch across his shoulders, drives one end into the ground, and uses it to support his weight as he spins through the air, aiming both feet at her head. If his first attack hadn't knocked her down, the second definitely would.

The first shot did indeed knock her down. That was fine because as Ben came around for the second shot Estella kicked upward to knock him off the branch. She used the momentum to carry the rest of her body upward and stood on her hands before pushing off and landing on her feet a short distance away. She found the agility she displayed slightly peculiar and posed a question to Ben. "Were you in the room during the scanning process?"

After being knocked off the branch, Ben uses one hand to lower himself gently to the ground, then picks the branch back up. He answers, "Yes, why?" He then sprints toward Estella, throwing the leafless end of the branch at her head, then slides between her legs and stands up behind her. That way, if she dodged the branch, he could catch it midflight.

She waved a hand and a gust of wind blew the branch off course past their reach. Twisting around she stopped short of taking a swing at him. Her expression wavered and she took a step back. What was she doing? Best as the transformation tried Estella's memories were working their way back to the surface. She started to speak. "B-Ben?"

"You don't have to go if you don't want to" kalinda, standing, colkecting the plates and putting them aside to be washed.
