Kalinda finally decided to go to a class taught by Black Widow, in this case, Natalia Romanova. Kalinda wasn't too sure what to expect from this class. Romanova had such a wide range of abilities, that Kalinda was somewhat intimidated. Of course, she wouldn't let this show. Walking into the classroom, which appeared to be a large room, with no desks. Kalinda blinked, so they wouldn't be doing much theory work? She looked about. There were things around the room...mirrors, bars, things Kalinda would otherwise expect in a gym.
What was going to happen here? She looked for Black Widow, but knew she probably wouldn't be able to see her until Romanova wanted to be seen. So Kalinda closed her eyes, opened her senses completely. Faint, but there. Emotions in what seemed to be shadows in a corner.
She opened her eyes, glancing over in the shadows, but there didn't appear to be any sign of anyone there. Okay then. She moved into the shadows, and over to where the emotions she had felt where. Now that she was in the shadows, she could see the woman standing there. A slight movement. Could she sense her? No that wasn't possible. Technically, when Kalinda when into shadows, she wasn't there. She came out behind the woman, pushing her out the shadows.
"Hi" Kalinda said, "Mrs Romanova, I presume?"
"Hm. Very well done. I do not think any novices have managed to sneak up on me like that" Romanova said.
Kalinda found herself smiling, as move students entered, "You can't hide from shadows" She said, moving to join the incoming students, who all seemed prepared for what was going to happen. what was going to happen? Kalinda wondered.
She didn't have to wonder long. It was soon clear, as a what seemed to be a course was set up. So it was to be a physical class then? Kalinda watched the first few students go through it. She quickly grasped that it was to increase their agility, flexability and durability. She stepped up, deciding to have a go.
Between her flight power, and her own natural flexibility, Kalinda was extremely flexible. Some people would wonder how her flight abilities would assist her here. Well, they wouldn't have seen her fly. It really was about feeling the wind, and flowing with it, she had decided, after her flight with Griffin and Zack.
She just never knew how...athletic she could be/ Never really given the chance, she was now finding abilities that she had never had, had only seen in movies, or read in books. She ran, ducked, jumped, bent under and over bars, swung over poles, twirling, tumbling, cartwheeling and leaping. She really didn't know what she was doing, just seeing what was ahead, and acting.
She landed at the finish, breathing hard, and looking back. Someone else was already starting, but Kalinda had never felt so alive. Had she really just done what that student was doing? Seriously? She couldn't believe it.
"from the look on your face, I would say this is your first time doing something like this, and you can't believe it" Romanova said, "Which makes this even more of a feat. Tell me, what have you done throughout your childhood?"
"Um. Dancing-Ballet. Ten years, until I was fifteen. Basketball. Tennis. yoga" Kalinda said, "I was a lonely child"
"mmhmm. And what are your powers?"
"Flight, Telekinesis, emotional control, and healing abilities" kalinda recited, "and Shadow control, which you have already seen"
"An interesting combination, really. Small body, build, a somewhat natural flexibility, then add some of your powers...well, you can go far, Kalinda-correct?"
correct what? then she realised. Her name. Kalinda nodded, "Yes"
"Well, I'd say you need to work a bit on a few things, and continue with this class, and you might just be deadly" and with that, Romanova left her.
Kalinda joined the watching students, thinking, and when the class was over, she headed out, deep in thought.
if a superhero thought she had potential, then maybe she did. Maybe Kalinda could start believing that. Or not.
