Ben drives as quickly as possible to downtown New York City then parks his car in the same parking garage as the night before. He exits his car then says to Griffin, "Alright. You want to train your hunting skills, so I'll help you. Yesterday, I followed my instincts which eventually led me to some prey. I want you to follow your instincts and I'll follow you."

Griffin nodded. He began walking casually along the street listening to the alleys and houses around them. Those who passed him would think he was just a teen walking home from a friends. Griffin kept his pace casual allowing himself to blend with the crowd. After a few minutes he heard the sounds of sobbing coming from one of the house. Griffin turned into a nearby alley there he found a dumpster to climb on. Using this Griffin climbed silently to the of the house he had heard the sounds coming from. Now he was sure that the crying was coming from this house. He also heard the sound of a belt flying through the air. Angrily Griffin searched for the window that would lead him to the sounds. In the attic he found a older man beating a young boy. Griffin was smashed the window and hopped inside. He didn't bother warning the man, he knew the man would promise anything to get out of trouble. Instead Griffin pushed the man towards the stairs. There he shoved the man as hard as he could. He was satisfied to hear the man fall down the stairs. But he knew the stairway had been too short to do more then hurt the man. So he made his way down the stairs and snapped the man's neck. Then he returned back up the stairs to tend to the boy.

Ben had followed Griffin to the house, turning invisible when they slipped inside. He watches as Ben dispatches the old man, and waits for him to be done with the boy.

Griffin gruffly calmed the boy. "You will call the cops. You will tell them your father attacked you, you pushed him to make him leave you alone and he fell down the stairs. You will not mention me in an way or I will return."

The boy agreed eagerly. It was obvious that he thought Griffin was a hero and would do anything to protect the person who had saved him. With that taken care of Griffin made his way to the roof out of the house and back to the alley.

Ben follows Griffin outside, then becomes visible again as he asks, "What the hell was that? For all you know, that man might not have been abusing his son. The boy might have broken a serious rule, and that was his punishment. You're going to make a young boy take the fall for you? And do you really think that a boy as youg as him won't tell someone how a man broken into his house and killed his father?"

(I speak from experience, being struck with a belt isn't necessarily abuse. When I was younger, I had such a high pain tolerance that instead of spanking me, my parents had to use a belt for me to even be able to feel it.)

(speaking from experience I have to say that it can be.)
"That was justice." Griffin replied gruffly. "You think a boy of 10 or so could break a rule badly enough to be beaten for several minutes. I would guess the father had been at him for at least 20 minutes. Also if you had looked you would have seen the scars of other such abuses. The boy had more the belt welts on him. The boy has clearly not eaten in at least a day and he was naked. It could not have been a reasonable parental punishment. Also his age plays in my favor. At 10 he will understand the need for heroes identity to be secret."

Ben sighs, "Ok, maybe it was abuse, but now you've orphaned a child that may either tell what really happened or be known as the little boy who killed his own dad."

Griffin considers this. He does not like this conclusion. But he didn't see how he could have helped the boy in another way. "I do not see another solution. He is better off an orphan. I will arrange for him to be taken care of."

Ben chuckles, "You act like you have connections. Do you need a ride back to the Academy? I want to go hunting alone, but I can bring you to your dorm if you want."

"Because I do." Griffin reassured him. He did not like that Ben was trying to get rid of him. "If you do not wish to show me how to hunt properly. I will find someone with more knowledge and skill."

(I'm doing this because I won't have time to post)

Ben growls menacingly, "The only reason I want to hunt by myself is because you wouldn't be able to handle it. When I go hunting, making noise breaking a window will get you killed. Taking more than two seconds to kill someone will get you shot."

Ben shakes his head and starts to walk in the opposite direction, but stops as he thinks, [i]"If I don't teach him that you should only kill killers, who will? I don't want to have to kill him." He jogs to catch up with Griffin and says, "Fine, I'll teach you. You can watch, but don't interfere or act at all unless they come for you." He holds a hand out and asks, "Deal?"

"Deal." Griffin shook his hand greatfully. It was good that Ben had reconsidered. He had no one else that he thought could teach him the skills he wished to learn. If nothing else he would ask about the simulation Ben had mentioned. He knew it wouldn't be the same. This was much better.

Ben nods, "You might want to fly, I stick to the roofs" He climbs to the top of a nearby window, then starts running and leaping from rooftop to rooftop. As he flies trough the night, the sound of breaking glass reaches his ears. He leaps over the edge of the building he's on, flipping twice edited landing lightly on a lamp post. He sees three men breaking into an electronic store. Ben has only a few seconds to wonder if he should step in when two cars pull in front of the store. A cop steps out of the first vehicle, a squad car, then another man exits the second. They both approach the front of the store, guns drawn, before two shots ring out. Ben sticks to the shadows as he gets a closer look and discovers that rwo of the robbers is dead and the third one is in handcuffs. He's close enough to hear the cop whisper to the man in cuffs, "If you say that your two friends attacked us, forcing us to shoot, we'll make sure get off easy." As the cop puts the robber in his squad car, the man that had arrived with him begins to load TVs and computers into the other car before speeding away. Ben crawls up to Griffin and says, "That cop killed two guys just so he could steal some of the loot! I'm going after him."

Kalinda glanced at the perfect circle of arrows, "Neat" She said, then She held up a head, taking on of his arrows with her telekenisis, then moving it through the air to land perfectly in the middle of the circle. "Kalinda Roth. I just felt your sadness, and was drawn to it" She said, "So, technically, the question should be what can do for "

Matt watched in shock as she took one if his arrows and put it in the middle. He had planned to do that but was waiting.
"I'm just homesick is all. I mean I spent most my life there and sort of miss it. " He confessed as he looked at her. He needed someone to talk to. He walked over to pull the arrows out of the wall. While doing so he turned a bit. "Uhh can you and I just talk. " He felt not sure for some reason.

Homesick. Had kalinda even thought of home, really, the last few days? No, not really. only her childhood. So what would it be like to actually miss home? She did miss her mother, and wondered if it was mutual, but that was it.

"Sure" Kalinda said. Why not, her other plans would merely be sitting alone watching a movie. Griffin was out somewhere, Ben with him if Griffin had suceeded in getting him to help, Maxine...she hadn't talked to since this morning, and John, well, she didn't know what he did. Probably in the gym, since he seemed to love it there. Kalinda blinked. She didn't really have any girls that were friends, apart from Maxine. Was that strange? She didn't know, "What do you want to talk about?"

Matt smiled as he pulled the last arrow out of the wall. He walked back to her and looked her over. Sort of powerful. Yet another person more powerful than him...

"Uhh where are you from? Star City for me." He said motioning her to walk. He felt like moving right now.

"oh. A city about three others flight from here. Well, my flight at least" Kalinda said as she started to walk, "So about a day away I guess. Where are we going?"

Matt shrugged. He had no idea where he was going. Still new here and all that jazz.

"Uhh no idea. I sort of get lost here easily..." He confessed scratching his head. "Uhh do you have any ideas where we should go?" He asked having no idea if she would.

"Well, there's the cafeteria behind us, the dorms over that way, the school building with most of the classrooms there, the gym" Kalinda shrugged, "there's this garden type thing too, apparently one of the students made it, a few courtyards and things. there's a lot to do, but I guess it depends on what one wants to do" She said, "I normally stay in my dorm room"
