"Thank you." She said as she sat down, placing her food in front of her. Picking out an empty shell she used this to pick out the shellfish, keeping her hands clean. Watching her take a single bite Kat raised an eyebrow and gave a wry laugh. "Yes I see, how full you must be." Eating more of her own lunch she looked up to see the news of Luthor's death was still being reported on. "How many different ways can they tell you a man is dead?" She said with a sigh.

Kalinda shrugged "well, I depends how the guy died. They aren't realizing many details, asides from saying that this Thanatos was part of it" she said, and sighing, she ate some more salad. "I don't see what the big fuss is. Would they make such a big fuss for a nurse, a doctor? A fire fighter? Just because someone is famous, or well known" she shrugged again, "sometimes I think the news reporters think that if they talk about it enough, somehow they will bring the dead back"

She supposed lex Luther's death was a blow to the world, and the academy but she was already tired if heading it. Breakfast, lunch...she shook her head "but you didn't come over to talk about news reports right?"

"Yes many will have died since him but none of them will come back to life with words, so I doubt it really matters much to them." At Kalinda's question Kat smirked and mischief lighted her eyes as she spoke in a much lighter tone. "No I didn't, but that doesn't mean I have any ulterior motives if that's what you're suggesting. It can be dull sitting alone, maybe I like the company."

Kalinda pondered that a moment "it can be" she agreed, "but I fear I won't be much enticing company" she said "I'm moody, and I speak my mind" she said, with a shrug "most people find that annoying" she said, she leaned back in her chair.

"And then there's the wild emotions of others but sometimes that's more stable then my own"

"And you consider me most people? I'm wounded." Kat toyed, the smile never fading. "And as for the latter I will just have to be careful around you, and you around I." It was true in many ways: exposing Kalinda to all that was inside her would be cruel and most likely unnecessary. There was also the ugly truth that no matter how well she lied her emotions were not so easily masked and could potentially give everything away. She would have to try look for some solution to that, though the instances she called to mind usually only ever had rather severe measures.

"I've come to the conclusion that people here aren't most people" Kalinda replied, "you shouldn't worry. I've been developing some control and can now put a block between myself and others" Kalinda decided not to mention that oft times, she had the blocks down for the simple fact that she liked others emotions. It was dangerous though.

"So, why talk with me?"

"It would be the first thing I'd learn how to do in your position. Though I most likely have spent a little more time around.. well, unsavory company." Kat said with a shrug, eating some more of her lunch. When Kalinda asked why her, she smiled. "Why not you? You are not less than anyone else, and - unless I'm wrong - you don't appear to be busy. Even I am capable of idle, innocent talk over food; not every irrelevant action has to be part of a grand plan."

Kalinda frowned, puzzling this out. At her high school, she had been considered a freak, and a weirdo, with most people avoiding her. Coming here and actually being noticed was a new thing for her, and she was still coming to terms with it. Spending a year being home schooled didn't help either.

"Well, I suppose that is true" She said softly, "but still, I can't help but think, why me? A left over action from high school i suppose" She shrugged

"I never really see you that much besides in classes"

Kyra picked at her food boredly. It was slightly different today, everyone was distanced from what she could sense. Not much interaction in the air from what she could hear either. It was strange to her.

"If you believe yourself to be less than those who surround you, then why should you expect them to treat you any other way?" She said bluntly, finishing her lunch and pushing the bowl to the side. "And as for my elusiveness - I don't live here, and I am sure to leave as soon as the day is over. If you had been seeing me outside of class I would be worried."

[Flood]

Flood had been shoved away from the office after being told the principal had an appointment. "Those idiots! Don't they realize that I never come to the office willingly unless it's important? Gah!" He yelled in frustration as he stalked around the halls. He went to the cafeteria and grabbed someones food. The person stood up and growled. " Oh you're growing a backbone huh? Want me to rip it out?" He yelled at the guy as he slowly stepped away. " Yeah. Same as always, all bark and no bite." Flood finished as he punched the guy and knocked him out. "I suggest everyone think about who they piss off. This guy was one of the less vicious bullies!" He yelled as everyone backed off a little. He sat down at a random empty table and began eating.

Kyra watched Flood have his little 'anger rant' and smiled. Sure, he was...disfunctional, but he was her friend no less. She stood, grabbing her food and she went over to the table and sat next to him. "Hey, you okay?" she asked, setting her food down.

" Hey Kyra. Sorry you saw that, but sometimes the judgement becomes too much. People judge you exclusively on who your parent was and my Dad is a psychopath of the highest degree. Because of that, I'm treated like an outcast or worse, I'm treated like a punching bag. Not a literal one, I would easily kick their asses in a fight but a verbal one. It doesn't matter where you go, people are opinionated bigots." Flood said with a bit of sorrow, as he picked at his food. "It's become so bad that I'm becoming a self fulfilling prophecy. The voices are going away, but the only reason why is because their thoughts are becoming a part of my normal thought pattern. I don't know if my genetics make me more susceptible to insanity, but I can feel it. It's creeping up on me. I haven't slept in 3 days, every time I go to sleep the things I see devour my sanity. It won't stop. Dont ever envy my healing factor. I'm practically invulnerable with my healing factor, but the trade off isn't worth it. " Flood finished as he teared up slightly. He was going insane. The lack of human contact and isolation would drive anyone mad. He needed friends, who wouldn't judge him.

Kyra smiled sadly and set a hand on his arm. "Flood..." she looked at the ground. "I'm sorry for you.... You have so much power in you.... But, unlike me, you take after the parent with the most prominent powers...." she gently patted his arm. "I don't know what you're going through... But I have had a taste of insanity...." she gestured to the room. "That's what brought me here in the first place..." she looked back at him. "It goes away eventually, but it still threatens how I live my life.... Nothing like that should happen to you..." she took her hand off of his arm and went back to eating her food slowly. "Besides, maybe it's just temporary.... Sometimes young people like us with powers have a moment where their power fades and they go mad.... It's happened before..."

Flood smiled at her. "Thank you. Maybe you're right, but either way I need a solution, even if it's temporary. This is affecting me too much." Flood said as he looked around. "It's good to know I have friends in this school though. Sorry if I've been complaining, what's up with you? Anything special happen to you recently?"

Kyra shook her head. "No, nothing..." she said, taking a bite of her food.

"And if I wanted to you wouldn't see me, which would make me very hard to find." Kat quickly fired back, her smile changing back into a smirk. "Though it was a poor choice of words on my behalf. Bemused, even impressed, but unless you had an army at your back I don't think I'd be worried." She finished with a light laugh.
