When Bruce was alone, he sighed heavily, pressing his fingers to his eyes as if they hurt. He stayed like that for a minute, ,before turning to his computer. He wasn't surprised to have Clark return empty handed, and said "He's still around. We will just have to keep an eye out. Shouldn't be too hard" he said, "I believe Nicholas, at least as far as he isn't involved with Magneto. But Flood and Kijani...they didn't return when they were given an option. Only when the plane returned. We will have to talk with the other Student, see if she knows anything. I need a few moments"
Kalinda was stil, and it seemed that she was deathly cold, her breathing slow, shallow, and her pusle boarding on bradycardia. Her body felt healthy, her mind cloudy, fogged. It felt like she was just floating along.
Memories flashed through her mind like dreams.
She was walking down the street, feeling tired, overwhelmed, sick. Her emotions were shaken, her body feeling...heavy. She was shaking, and her head heart, pounded, when the flash of anger washed through her, and she whimpered, hands going to her head. It was growing, the pain there, the pain n her body, the inability to control herself.
The Anger flared again.
it seemed to burst out of her. She fell to the ground, and let out a whimper. Just up the road, the two man seemed to become horribly aggressive. They started to fight, to attack each other, and with each blow, it felt like it was happeniing to her. it just seemed to make it worse, and even though she began to run, stumbling, falling, she still felt the flash of surprise, the hurt, and then the nothingness as one of the men died.
Kalinda whimpered, flinching as if for a blow. She didn't wake.
Connor was pacing, out of his suit now, in his dorm room. He was restless, his thoughts a kind of mess. Pacing was a way for him to try and organise them. it wasn't working.
It wouldn't be so bad He thought, rare anger shimmering under the surface of his normally composed mannor, if I had at least got to talk with Kijani as it was, now he was waiting. Wondering if she was okay.
His door was open slightly, as he hadn't made sure it had shut firmly behind him, his jacket thrown over the bed. He just felt helpless.
he didn't like the feeling. If he couldn't protect someone he cared about, then what good was he? He was furious at himself, yes. He should have been able to do more. But he was also furious at Wayne. Going off and leaving the school unprotected? How foolish was that? There were, after all, new students constantly. It was different throwing them all into simulations, but testing them when they were prepared for this?
Perhaps Wayne didn't think anything would happen. Which was foolish in on itself. Drawing out all the teachers, those that could protect the school was an obvious ploy, to Connors mind.
And now he was just working himself into an angered frenzy. He stopped pacing, and took three deep slow breaths, calming himself. There was nothing else for it, but to see if he could wait for Wayne to be finished with Kijani. He needed to make sure she was okay. He forgot to grab his jacket, but the cold air didn't seem to touch him for the time being.
He was surprised, pleasantly so, when he saw her exit the bathroom, and his relief was evident on his face, that she seemed okay. With his long strides, he was soon to her and didn't even hesitate, wrapping his arms around her in a hug. "Are you okay?"
