Sue
The invitation was really touching. Sue loved knowing that she was starting to have new closer friends in the Academy, friends who had even a smidgen of an idea of what her life was like. It was troubling now as a person with powers. As they walked to Phoebe’s dorm, she remembered her old friends, before her powers, before she left civilization, practically. She was popular with many people and dance crews she was a part of and the sociability of her very nature made had very well-known. She was well-loved, and Sue was not boastful about it. She just enjoyed other people’s company, even if she could not speak; older friends had known her for years and had learnt sign just for her. She missed them, and wondered how they were. Though there was a chance she would see them again, she was afraid if they’d forgive her for leaving them. She may have her new friends here, but her older friends had always been there. She was sad because she never did say goodbye to them.
They entered Phoebe’s room, and were offered strawberries and chocolate sauce for dipping. She grabbed two at once and lathered them in chocolate, stuffing them into her mouth. Her mouth was full, but she pulled off a smile at Phoebe and Katherin, her teeth covered in chocolate and bits of strawberry.
Though Sue wanted to stay in Phoebe’s room for the night, the setting Sun beaming its orange rays into her room, she knew it would be for the public safety to leave and go back to her room all the way out near the periphery of the campus site. She left, before flashing Katherin and Phoebe, lifting her shirt and bra off for a good two seconds, and running off to her room, giggling hysterically. The fact that no one saw her laughing manically was because of her inability to produce any sound.
She slowed to a walk, her shadow long and angled. She looked out to where the Sun was setting. The sky was going dark, and it was evening then. She was full and decided to skip dinner. She made a note for herself once she had arrived: ”Ask Principal if can change rooms.”
She didn’t like being so far away from everyone.
((It is evening now.))
*******************************************
As the night went on, most students fast asleep, J’onn J’onzz had materialized from the door to the Principal’s Office, where Bruce Banner was doing paperwork but was otherwise free and open. Bruce Banner did not have to focus as much on his crime-fighting rounds anymore now that there were many others, but he did not give up on it completely. Tonight was just one night when the Martian Manhunter knew he would be there.
“So I heard the simulation went well,” said Bruce Banner.
“Yes, everyone displayed amazing traits of working together as a team and development with their abilities. Sue was the most impressive in power development, and Anthony deserves honorouable mentions for leading his peers into defeating the Hulk,” spoke J’onn out loud.
“However, this is a cause for concern," he continued after a long silence.
“You mean the fight amongst each other?”
“Yes. The simulation assimilates data from our students’ memories and manifests them into the programme. If that is the case, then our spectral being, the one that caused the rampages, is one of our students’ memories.”
“Yes, I know.”
“You do?”
“We’ll talk about this some other time. Please leave.”
“Bruce. If there is something I sho-“
“Not now, J’onn. Not now.”
The Martian Manhunter dematerialized, sinking into the floor, and Bruce Banner continued his research into Kijani and this ghostly villain.
