Kalinda had gotten lost. She would never be able to tell her mother, who had been sure she would. She had said "you aren't practiced enough in flight to know where you are going. Just catch the bus"
But kalinda hadn't wanted to do that. She had wanted to arrive showing she was confident in herself. she was often taken for being shy, when in fact she was quite confident in herself. She had just leqrned that by beaing quite, she could leqrn peoples secrets. Plus, it was easier not getting close to anyone. Her emotions could cause her horrible termoil, which is at least better than what happens to her mother.
What could happen to her. just as easily.
So, yes, it was easier to stay distant from people. Had that led to a lonely last year, when her powers had fully come it? Yes. But better then the alternative.
That was why, for the last six months, Kalinda had begged her mother to allow her to go to this school. She needed to learn control, and needed to be around people that might understand, rather then just normal people.
This didn't help the fact that she was still lost. She hovered there, thinking. Her phone wouldn't work at this height, and if she landed, so ekne was bound to see her and panic for the small girl falling from the sky.
That wasn't an option. She knew vaguely where she nad to go, so she just continued on her way.
"You're going to be late" she said to berself. Sure enough, two hours later, she was late. But she had arrived. She landed at a run, pleased she nad already registered. Gym. She glanced at the map, and ran across the campus to the gym, where she slipped in unnoticed. She stood at the back, watching the game.
Dodgeball? They were playing dodgeball? And without powers. How...human of them. Yet it looked like utter choas.
It looked like fun. So when the next round was due to start, she cleared her throat, stepping out of tne shadows, and said, "hi. Is there room for one more player? I'm sorry I'm late. Got lost. I'm kalinda"
