I recognize and understand that, but I was making a commentary on a different kind of viewpoint.

I see your point but I don't quite agree. I think of Valentine's as more of a reminder to those less romantically inclined to do those nice things for their SO. Some people take it to the extreme, but in the end it is a day to reflect on the person you're sharing your life with. Sort of like Christmas or Thanksgiving, those holidays remind us about being appreciative of friends and family and of giving but those are things we should always remember.

I can see things from your perspective, too. We also don't celebrate Christmas with gifts either for similar reasons to Valentine's Day. (At least with each other -- we do buy presents for our families, who celebrate traditionally.) We do a lot of romantic things/gifts/surprises for each other throughout the year, so we just tend to go the opposite route on days when we're supposed to do those things. It's a bit backwards, perhaps, but it works for us. XD

I use Valentine's Day as an excuse to buy presents for people, not that I need an excuse. It just seems to mean more to others when it comes on a holiday. Who am I to deny them that happiness?

Settled on cheesecake with strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and a strawberry flavored sauce that I'll be making.

Not sure what to use the heart-shaped strawberry ice cubes on though.

I ate Italian cream cake or something like that. was pretty good. There was much cuddling, and I had my first gourmet burger, which was meh, but the onion rings were good.

Yeah... other than that, I mostly slept.
