I really do not like the way this looks on my mobile I much prefer the desktop look so if you can add a feature that let's a user switch to that view I'd appreciate it because this orientation is way too small. @Mahz

I think my main concerns is that "mobile view" has two menus that could just be one drop down menu + the profile link got changed to "You".

Are you referring to a recent change or just in general?

Is how it looks now on mobile. Half of the top bar got shoved into a drop down menu, while the other half still looks like how it displays on desktop. I don't know the possibility of it, but IMO it'd feel and look better if they were combined.

As for "You", I'm not sure why it needed to be changed. Your username already made it pretty clear that it was you/your profile link.

I do agree with Kuro on this point, especially if the account switcher Legend mentioned in the discord a little while back becomes a thing, it will be easier to know which account you are on if it says the account name. Here is the preview they linked for it before.

It is pretty cool to see all the changes going on though. Thank you for your work!

So, to reiterate, for me personally: Every DM gets an email.

EMAIL NOTIFICATIONS, YES!!

Every PM getting an email is ideal. I don't want to be spamming refresh on the guild when I can just get a nice alert from my email that I have a new message. And having the contents of the message in the email, not just an alert that I have a message. Ideal, love it, chef's kiss.

TBH I'd like every subscribed thread to get an email notification too whenever there is a new post in the thread.

Thanks. It's helpful to hear other people's thoughts.

@Kuro Oh, I see. Yeah, I'd like to put more work into the mobile design. I haven't touched it in years. Feedback is super useful. If anybody wants to help with this kind of stuff, just send me a ranked list of the top 10 or so most glaring issues. I waste too much time deciding what to do next otherwise.

I'll see what I can do. I'll also remove the "You" thing. Maybe a long username was screwing with it back when I first started building it.

Formatting is super different in mobile view than it is on desktop. The orientation of like the text in my profile is broken in the mobile view and very condensed into a tiny square.

I realize everyone is talking about the mobile view because 30min ago I re-enabled the option that lets you toggle it on/off, but it defaults to on.

See here: roleplayerguild.com/me/edit#mobile

I forgot that it's enabled by default. I just changed it so that the mobile view is disabled by default since it's not polished enough to be the default.

Just visit that link and set "Force device width = true" if you want to keep using or testing the mobile view.

If you do like the idea of that view and want to help me improve it, send me a list of your major frustrations with that view.

@Mahz I noticed either something is wrong with the email verification thing or just that it isn't working on my device. I press the send email verification button but it does nothing.

So, you tap the button, the button is pressed, but nothing happens after that? It just stays a button?

I used way too much Javascript to implement that button. Maybe I accidentally used something your phone doesn't support. What device are you using.

A Samsung Galaxy A7 tablet, and yeah I press the button and it seems the button just gets the pressed look but does nothing when pressed.

@Mahz

Looks like the only checkable box for the email notifications is for private messages. Besides that, experimental just needs to be spell checked

Verified.

Is there a way to add that someone has been Verified to their Profile Page so that people can see who is legit and not?

Oh no, are you suggesting? The blue check mark? Lol, but that's a fair idea. Just like a nice little tick to show that the user has a verified email.

Another thing that could be useful for keeping bots out is making it mandatory that the user makes a intro post, as well as maybe a captcha if you can implement that sort of thing into making sure someone is in fact using a real email and is a person.

@Mahz Yeah, the part that concerns me is that if you're away for 15 minutes, you might start getting an email every time there's a post. With the pace of most things, that's generally fine, but at others... well, getting one ever couple of minutes can get annoying fast. Maybe some sort of rate-limiting logic if you haven't checked since the last update?

I was also thinking of how chat clients like Slack or Teams will only send one email collating missed messages (somewhat configurable, but that's another question) rather than one per.

Also, the copyright thing on the bottom of the page still says 2017? xD

Wait til you see the daily subscription fees. Not monthly... Daily. Mwahaha

We can do a bit of that with the Verification too, but some bots are getting smarter to bypass that. Currently from memory you can't add a bio until you add a profile pic. That in itself could swap to the verify mode.

Maybe an option to choose how frequently we get emails? As an example, maybe we get an email once a day that says "you got X number of messages." I doubt that would work for everyone, but not everyone needs to know the moment they get a post.

I recommend requiring people to verify their email before sending email notifications to prevent abuse.

I think that's already been added?
