@Fillet: To go to the last page, click the gray box with the yellow arrow in it on the far right side of the PM topic page.
What we suspect you mean, is to go to the last unread post, not the last page in general. That would be a system that is on Mahz' list.

@Aeonumbra, That is actually really useful. More practical than having to close and open the list tags if I want a line break.

@BBeast Yea, it was kind of annoying that I couldn't line break. It pretty much works using any BBCode tags that require something inbetween them, otherwise is makes a 'phantom space'.

Say, I noticed that clicking on Recent Topics on some people's profile results in an HTTP error. It doesn't not work on everyone's, though.

I think it only not works on people with statuses for some reason. I checked it with people who don't have any statuses and it works fine.

I discussed allowing donations as a means to turn off ads a few pages back. No one responded to it yet.

- Add notification support to subscription system.
- Add email notification opt-in.

- Unread post tracker. Lots of stuff can be built on top of such a system. Even small conveniences like "Go to last unread post".
- Build the search+filter system for roleplays and checks including the ability to sort by any parameter (like show the newest roleplays first).
- Post/PM autosave/draft system. The UX right now when you get a validation error upon post/topic creation is absolutely horrendous.
- Allow people to delete/leave/archive private convos.

Out of that whole list, I think these are what I would like to see added soon(ish.) The bolded is what, to me, is important, and the bold/initialized is something that I particularly think is important/useful. Just my two cents.

Thanks for yall's feedback so far. Don't have time to respond yet, but then I saw this:

@Shienvien Actually. I found a neat little trick for that.

That trick also works for spacing lists bullets. Observe.

  • This is
  • Unspaced

  • This is
  • Spaced

I highly recommend against being clever with BBCode. You're guaranteed to break your post in the long run for some trivial aesthetic gains today.

But-but... What are we to do if we can't be clever with it?

But.. cleverness is all I have..

Is there a solution to our line break problems? Because honestly, I need my list bulletins spaced, I can't become an uncivilized non-spacing bulletin user Q_Q. Life is so difficult at times.

Also, I may be missing something, but I haven't found a way to get list bulletins centered, the text will center, but the dots stay aligned to the left. Is that even possible?

Small suggestion,@Mahz...

The latest RPGN has zero replies, despite opening up for such.
As always, this topic will inevitably bury it due to simply being more active.

Our suggestion is simple.
Right now, the RPGN notification on the sidebar looks like this:

Latest RPGN
RPGN 3.17.15

We suggest to change it to look like this:

Latest RPGN
RPGN 3.17.15
n replies
Latest Reply: a Goblin

So far I've just been lightly wrapping HTML's elements (like lists) thus inheriting their behavior. I'm super reluctant to introduce exceptional behavior without strong consideration for how it will affect everyone else that doesn't want newline-insertion.

Can you give me an example in the test forum (or existing post) of the kind of lists you're trying to build? This goes for @BBeast too who also wants to put newlines between list-items. Margins between list-items don't really make sense to me since I've been writing HTML lists for years, so I'd like to see what yall are going for.

I'm not sure I can support arbitrary newlines between list-items with the current [*] syntax. I'd have to introduce [li][/li] syntax that will preserve newlines between list-items.

Honestly I think your best solution right now is to use tabs + bring your own bullet character (like "•"). For one, it's not a hack so it won't break in the future.

Example:

• A
• B
• C

@Ellri Agreed, I was just thinking that. Since you see it every time you load the homepage, you'd be able to see if any chatter has been happening on the news item. Good idea.

Double newlines where I don't want them (eg. between paragraphs) are my mortal enemy, you people should know that by now. :-P
It is a bit inconvenient that I had to resort to silliness to make the first paragraph beginning in a hider match the following paragraphs, though.

@Mahz I have no idea what tabs + is, but I know how to make alt + numpad 7 bullets • and alt + num 9 ○ —so I guess I could convert my lists and undo my cleverness. Thanks for the heads up Mahz.

*snip*

My example: http://www.roleplayerguild.com/posts/2317817

But I suppose, in the grand scheme of things, I could avoid hacks or requiring to change the Guild's parser by putting [/list][list] between each item (ie. close the list and open it again). It's only a small piece of effort to pay.

@Aeonumbra, by tab he means make an indent, not some keyboard shortcut.

to make a tab, press the [tab] key on your keyboard.
it'll make your line shift inwards, like this one is.

@BBeast@Ellri Oh, thank you for clearing that up.

Also, BBest pretty much covered what I was trying to do with lists. I was just trying to space the bullets. But, your work around that will suit me just fine Mahz, so thank you.

No problem,@Aeonumbra... Its because of answering things like that someone gave us the title "ProxyMahz" earlier in this thread. Or at least for answering a question someone asked Mahz.
