[OOC] Young Justice 2022: League of Their Own

I had a post written down here trying to explain my feelings on why I felt that rebooting is a bad idea, but I'm really not sure how successful it would have been. I'm frustrated by what I see, a willingness to nix all the development we've worked for just for a clean slate that we will no doubt fill up with the same problems we already have.

Call me jaded, but I don't think this is the right move to deal with the problems we have.

And no, this isn't because I'm so attached to the work we've done that I refuse to let it go. It's because I really can't get behind a hard reboot because that says to me we will always be susceptible to another hard reboot if things don't go our way again.

This might be churlish, but if we do reboot I wont be part of it.

Terms aren't equal and I don't believe Sam is being either. As with Sam, I won't be submitting any characters for the reboot RPs. Not because I've had characters developed over the course of the last few years but because I just don't feel my playing style mixes with KL's GMing style anymore.

@Lord Wraith Agreed on the first part, Blacksam was being as reasonable with possible in the fashion he stated his opinion. Wasn't churlish or childish.

However I have a character that's really fun to play as that I'm eager to use (April from Queens) and it'd be awesome because she would be able to develop a lot as a character. There's not many other universes like this — if there are any other — on this website, and I like this group of roleplayers. Whatever happens I'll roll with, I just don't want... All this to break up or something, I guess. I hope you guys understand what I'm trying to say.

I don't know a lot about what all has been done. I'm kind of on the outside looking in with all this. I will probably mirror something I said in The Outsiders. I was only able to get two posts in before things stopped, again. People dropped off and got busy. We discussed a time skip, soft reset, and hard reset without really finding a solution. The issue we were having is mostly people dropping off without explanation. This time of the year really draws people away to get done with finals and stuff.

I can see what Sam is saying. I mean... I don't know. Either way. It's a temporary solution, but it's a solution nonetheless. I'll go either way, but I don't think I'm up for making a new character.

For me, its going back to make developments more fluid and in-game rather than between reboots. Our characters have aged nearly three years within three games and I'm just not enjoying what Ditto has developed into as much as I should. I think going back and changing things up a little is the best course, because the older our heroes get it seems like we're getting away from what the game was supposed to be about and the less we're writing about them. Just look at the numbers...

... I just wanna put the youth back into Young Justice. I apologize if it puts anybody off. I'm glad some of you are open to the idea of taking a couple steps back rather than yet another forward. @GreenGrenade I knew I wasn't the only one who wanted to change my character a bit from the ground up!

Unfortunately, I agree with Sam. I can't do another reboot. I mean... even if I could get my writing skills back, what would it matter?

The reason I wasn't able to write much is because I had to figure out what happened in a full year of my character's life... and did not have nearly enough time to do so. By the time I got my feet wet, we were discussing another large time skip.

I'm sorry, but... I just can't do anymore, especially when I feel that any character interaction or development will become useless.

I have not posted due to some RL issues that have really hampered my ability to post, otherwise I would of done already. Most of the problems have subsided and I will be able to post in a day or two. I think a reboot or a huge time skip would be really bad considering there are at least 3 to 4 RP's now connected together in this universe, That would effect a lot of time and effort people have put into the story and there characters.

I am not sure about going backwards and I don't think that the characters getting older are the reason for the lower counts, I just think it is that time of year where people are simply enjoying the weather more. as before the halt things were flying well in all RP's.

Well...That is somewhat true on my part since I'd have more time now. after this final today is summer for me. Idk though I just hated how most of the development wasn't my own because I had to be Mia even when the games were running / between reboot year skips.

2022 had almost exactly half of the IC posts as 2020 yet somehow was the one with the spin offs. I'm gonna go Ultimate with it [and I'm well aware that's a Marvel concept lol] and change a few things in the universe early on. This last universe with us aging quicker reminds me of the Teen Titans when all the originals got older. Only Nightwing was worth a damn after that and the whole line suffered. I want the next attempt to be more like the Young Justice cartoon that was a brilliant show from its inception. If the game keeps momentum like the original then I'll try branching out and building the universe up.

Maybe you could do a Flashpoint like event in game. Make the reboot part of a story line.

Have something happen in the current game(s) that lead to the 2020 'verse getting a reboot. You could even make a new, though intentionally short game just to play the event out. This way not all of the current game history has to be erased. @BlackSam3091 could keep The Outsiders going basically as is (maybe needing to make minor history adjustments) if that's what he wishes to do, and @The Kid Lantern could do the total reboot/restart of the Young Justice game. @Endrance's Queens of Coast City can stay unaffected. Legion could either be rebooted or continue as a team knowing the universe has been changed...
