I would, but at the moment there's only three out of a possible eight posts since my last. Waiting for the other five to get something done before I get back in there.

Right folks, I've got an announcement.

Since it is over two weeks since my last post and there's only been three replies I'm starting to feel extremely conflicted about keeping this going. On the one hand I enjoy the setting and the characters, but on the other I'm starting to wonder "Why bother?" At this stage I feel like I'm constantly pestering the players for posts, and I don't like that.

So I'm on the fence as too our next move. Either we can call it a day, say we had a good run and just declare Outsiders dead.

Or the players that are still here can reboot and restructure. If that's the road we choose then I'm willing to hear out suggestions as to how we do this, plot wise and such.

Anyway, let me know what you all think, because as things stand I don't think this is productive in the least.

Don't ask me if you should type up a post for your character, as that wasn't the point of my message. My point is that I feel like I'm beating a dead horse here. You, the players have to want to play, otherwise I, the GM, becomes little more than a nuisance to you all, constantly demanding attention you would rather be fixed elsewhere.

To me Rping should be an enjoyable experience, a hobby, a game, something you do of your own free will because you want to. It should never hit the stage where the GM has to pester the players into posting, because that just means they are no longer enjoying the experience like they should be. In that scenario we should just stop this crazy train.

Posting shouldn't be an obligation. It should be a privilege. So don't post because you've seen this message and think "Sam's wanting us to post, so I better fire on otherwise he'll bitch like a mother fucker", do it because "I enjoy this RP, my character, and interacting with the other players. I want to post." Anything else is just a waste of all our time, and I hate that.

This isn't a shot at you by the way Hillan, that's just my thoughts on the matter.

Honestly, I have wanted to post, but I've been both incredibly exhausted of recent, and also because I can't decide what to write. If everyone else is willing to continue with this RP, I would like to continue with it as well.

I completely agree with you, and I understand that it wasn't a shot at me. But regardless, I am sorry for my poor wording. I absolutely do want to post, I enjoy Marcus and I enjoy the RP in general. My question was meant to ask "Do you think it matters if I post or not?" While I could gladly hammer out a few thousand characters, I would prefer to know if "the ship hasn't already sailed". So to speak.

Well I think the point that Sam is making here is that if people wanted the RP to continue they would just simply post in the IC as opposed to sit in the OOC and say "I want to post but..." I mean if enough of us post in the IC obviously the RP will continue.

That said, I unfortunately feel no inspiration with my character what so ever. If this were to continue I would like to be part of it, however I have a few things to work out in real life first. In the middle of hunting a new apartment and I have a job interview for a full time summer position on Monday. So I don't want to make too many commitments without first ensuring I will have time to hold them up.

This is exactly what I'm getting at.

However I know this has been languishing for a while, and it is difficult to jump straight back into a fight (I.E The battle against the League of Shadows) that has been hanging for almost a month. Maybe it would be worthwhile to do a timeskip, or a soft reboot?

Like I said before, I'm open to suggestions if people want to keep this going.

Well I have posted and am waiting on feedback from that. I could post over and over but I'm not about to talk to myself. If people don't have the time then so be it. I generally can deal with that. But I prefer to know such things so I'm not just sitting around hoping that the next day a post will pop up. Now I know that @Lord Wraith is otherwise occupied so his absence is not just disinterest. But I have no idea about anyone else. By now I have to assume they are busy too. So I'm not going to waste my time beating a dead horse. A time skip in the past hasn't worked, you've dropped people and brought in new ones only to hit the same wall, and a soft boot is more or less the same.

We are dealing with a difficult RP in a much larger scope (being part of the 2022 set). I must admit I was surprised when the League of Shadows was revealed as the target. But just like my character I have no idea why and that makes it kind of hard to sympathize. What am I doing exactly? Myself I can deal with that, I like a little mystery and am curious as to what would prompt such a direct attack.

Having a lot of lone wolf characters puts a lot of them at odds with each other. It makes for good character development but poor interaction. Describing how unattached everyone is is slightly demoralizing in the meta of it all. There is no common cause to motivate. Everyone is here to tell their own story and the action is merely a pause to such. Not saying that's bad, but it does make things more difficult when no one really cares what the others think. For the RP it makes sense but in other areas it just means constant tension. That's why I purposely broke the mold and made a character that wants the opposite.

Unfortunately I do not have a solid solution. The premise of this particular RP is not one I have dealt with very much. I am limited by my own creative experience. All I know is people need something to unite them if you want something to succeed.
