Well, once a team has claimed a mission, they embark on that mission come Friday IC-time and begin the job. One player acts as an 'antagonist', controlling enemy NPCs, Grimm, environments, and so forth. They direct the four students on their adventure.

Oh yeah, Silvan started getting his internet up again so we'll actually have a full team when that happens.

Yep. And if there isn't an active antagonist but you still like the mission, just ask if anyone wants to antagonize for it.

I honestly don't remember. We're nearing the end of the classes anyway; I'd advise you to forget about it for now.

So, that's actually a decent segue. No offense meant to anyone, this is just me thinking out loud, but does anyone else feel like activity goes way down during classes? Not combat class, because the way that's set up forces everyone to take part. But for all the other classes, I feel like people are saying things like "When are classes done" a lot, and activity seems to drop.

Part of that seems to be that splitting everyone off into groups keeps the same smaller groups together, so if a few people are busy for a few days, it's perceived as "not doing anything". I say this as someone who's been on both ends of that interpretation. Sometimes I'm busy, and sometimes the players I'm interacting with are. And normally people could just break away from interactions that are dragging on, or loop someone else into the interaction to bring some life back in. But in a regimented schedule, those opportunities are few and far between.

It seems like we get the most activity during the breaks between classes. Lunch, trips between classes, free time, etc. The interaction there seems to be plentiful, and it's where all the little character arcs seem to get advanced. It seems like such a regimented character is restricting activity and interaction, sometimes. Having to wait until specified times to be able to do... Anything other than what the theme of that class is, honestly. Having to wait for missions or Grimm studies to get any fights with Grimm, combat class to really get the chance to do any PvP, free time to do anything that isn't learning or fighting.

I mean, and now we're skipping the rest of the academic day, evening, and night so we can get to missions. From one regimented activity, to a significantly more entertaining event, albeit still pre-scheduled, and still skipping over the free time in between.

At this point I'm rambling, honestly. No offense to anyone, least of all the GMs, but it was something I was thinking about and figured I'd bring up. See what other people were thinking.

I'll admit that certain classes are frankly boring, typically the more realistic ones such as math and history. I think the reason why things kinda slow down during classes though is that for the most part, everyone here is a fighter; we focus on fighting and most of our skills are revolved around that. Take us out of such an environment and there isn't really much we can do. Given the chance we'll fight or at least interact with our characters in more personal ways, going through actual classes were we're expected to sit and listen is, of course, pretty mundane.

That being said I do sort of enjoy the chances of seeing how our characters work outside of the field of battle. What kind of person they are when they don't need to be fighting, or when dealing with tasks that don't involve violence of some sort. That puts off a lot of people who don't want to do anything but fighting, but that could speak much about your character too. As for how the grouping is done, well, classes are classes. unless students are expected to exchange between intervals, it'll only make sense that they end up hanging out with the same group of students everyday.

Problem is, what could be a good solution? Beacon is an institution of learning. To just skip over the classes all the time doesn't seem really logical.

As for the pacing, I can't say we haven't been going at a bad pace per say. We're getting plenty of posts as a group on the whole, just a few people who are understandably busy with RL. True they do kinda slow things down, but I don't think it's the IC situations that slow down interacts so much as our personal lives.

Sorry about vanishing like that. Real life mugged me in a dark alley and it's taken a while to crawl back out.
