Time seemed to slow as Fury relied on his energy sensing techniques for the first time in a long while. With his right arm still in front of his face he seemed unlikely to bring up any defence against Kanitah, but ultimately his lack of sight was never any limitation…

There wasn’t time for anything all that fancy, with only moments to spare the Fireen warrior skirted leftward with a neat turning side-step. It was just enough, his right leg stuck out to catch his opponent’s momentum and turn it against him as his right fist just glanced past Fury’s ribs, even in that tiny contact cracking his armour and leaving him vulnerable to any further strikes to his lower abdomen. His right hand shot down from his face and cupped the smaller warrior’s back as he shot past, giving him a helpful shove on his way to tripping over Fury’s outstretched foot.

Kanitah should hopefully barrel past Fury, and catch himself on the Fireen’s foot as he struggled to re-assert control over the momentum he had gathered covering the distance so quickly. However Fury was even now unsure of his opponent’s potential, perhaps he could save himself, the Fireen was ready to bounce back into his boxing stance if things went south.

Crunch!

That was the noise he wanted to hear. It wasn't bone, but it was something breaking. Kanitah had broken through his foe's armor, and even though his assault hadn't yielded as much of an impact as he would have liked, he was making ground. Kanitah's body flew facefirst to the ground, both of his arms still extended forwards. His fingers splayed out and he caught himself with both hands, letting his own weight go over. The strange alien grass tickling at his hands for a scarce moment as they touched the ground. This threw Kanitah into a backflip that put him in the air once again. With a bit of style, Kanitah shifted his weight so that he would spin around and be facing Fury once again.

With a loud thud, Kanitah's feet slammed into the ground. A small wave of air pushing away from his legs as he landed, causing the grass to bow to its kiss. Honestly, he was kind of proud of himself. "Fury, I don't know why you do what you do. In the end I suppose I don't care. But what I do know, is that I've been holding back on you this whole time. And you've been holding back on me." A smug grin crossed the older man's face, his beard bending with the curvature of his cheeks.

"So, let's stop dancing about and get to real fighting, Fury!" Kanitah threw his entire weight into shifting his posture, lifting his right leg upwards and rotating his body with it. Slamming his foot into the ground, putting himself in a squared martial stance, lifting both hands up to face level and pointing them towards the Fireen. "Because this time around, I'm going to show you what a real fighter can do!"

Kanitah knows that he has to fight without restraint, to have to set aside his own want and need to try and help Fury. Kanitah knows full well that the idea of beating the evil out of Fury won't work, even though he wishes sincerely that were how it worked.

Kanitah has to beat the courage out of Fury, he has to beat the senses out of Fury.

The Hero of Pundambaya has to beat Fury so resoundingly that he is too scared to ever harm someone else.

He’s right, I should be chasing him down and breaking his jaw while he wastes his breath yammering on at me Fury thought darkly. The Fireen looked unperturbed by his damaged armour as he had turned to face his opponent after his act of acrobatics. Though his brow was furrowed, the first sign of his temper flaring, the Fireen was still in relative control by some extreme act of willpower. Kanitah was picking up on his restraint, not realising that telling him to fight properly was probably not in his best interests, the Unbridled rage of the Void being an almost unstoppable force, and one Fury detested using except in the most extreme circumstances. There was still a touch of Manadar behind the shell of Fury and the soul of the Void.

Fury put his personal problems aside. He had come too far to back out of the fight with Kanitah now, which left him few options, either to kill him or beat him to the point where he couldn’t oppose Fury in the future. Fury noted his defensive stance and briefly considered launching energy glaives to cut the cocky warrior in two, abandoning the plan as he considered his finite and slowly dwindling energy reservoirs. His eyes narrowed as he took in the distance separating them, it was time he had a bite to eat.

Fury shifted back into a kick-boxing stance after closing the distance between them to about six feet, provided Kanitah hadn’t moved that is, in which case he would have gone on the defensive. He would then promptly circle Kanitah from outside his range, moving quickly behind him to strike low with an outside Ilyushin to his left knee with whatever leg was most suitable, targeting either the back front or side of the knee depending on the smaller warrior’s response.

Fury was closing the gap at a decent pace, useful for Kanitah to be on the offensive. Once again he would use this terrain to his advantage. The Pundambayan put his weight on his right leg and quickly dragged the flat side of his left foot across the ground, quickly repositioning his leg and kicking up a cloud of dirt towards Fury. It put his footing into a more manouverable position, and tossed dirt in the face of his foe. Should it managed to hit, it would have little more effect than pissing Fury off.

Kanitah knows exactly what he's doing.

(As I'm certain pissing off Fury wouldn't stop him from enacting his offensive.)

Fury began circling Kanitah, likely seeking to strike at him from behind. Kanitah's obvious reaction was to begin spinning in place to match his pace. Fury moved in to strike at his knee with a low-kick, which meant that Fury's entire leg was extended outwards to strike. Which put Fury's leg in an unsafe place.

As the leg came to strike, Kanitah quickly reached down with both hands and bent his knee slightly. This put his hands on the same plane as Fury's kick, with intent to catch Fury's leg and jerk it upwards.

If the snatch and jerk succeeded and Fury was unfooted, Kanitah intended to twist Fury's ankle until it broke.

Fury’s shielding protected him from the mud on approach as he moved in and circled, striking with his right leg towards his opponent’s left knee. Only a sloppy or amateur low-kick can be easily caught, and Fury’s was neither of those things. With his super-natural strength and energy augmented speed there was no chance that his opponent was going to be able to nonchalantly crouch down and catch his kick with his hands, especially considering the time he had to react to the kick, the first Fury had launched. He would be lucky to escape without broken fingers as Fury’s shin impacted the reaching hands and most likely slammed into the outside of his knee for good measure.

Fury wondered why Kanitah, presuming he had sufficient time to react considering his actions, didn’t just check his kick with his leg, but it was too late to correct that mistake now and he would have to pay the price.

The catch was unsuccessful to say the least, Fury's foot slammed its toe into his cupped hands. If he hadn't put his hand in front of his knee it would have broken his fingers. Instead of breaking them it simply popped his pinky and ring finger out of socket before sending Kanitah sliding to his right. The momentum carried from Fury's kick caused him to slide across the ground, pushing him outside of the crater and back into the grass. A path was cut in the grass by his weight being propelled across it, as he slowed down the rut grew shallower until it was no more.

The Pundambayan winced in pain as he grabbed his right hand with his left, what he was about to do next was going to hurt like hell. With his left hand he grabbed the two dislodged fingers and pulled sharply. Snapping the two of them back into place, causing a few tears to burst from his eyes. Reminded him of pulling nose hairs, but worse.

A few dozen yards away from Fury, Kanitah stood there with his right hand cupped in his left. Panting slightly and sweating from the pain of popping his fingers back into socket. "I had hoped that would go better, I'll be honest."

“That will teach you not to kick dirt at me again, you pathetic little man.” Fury spat, his kick having landed with the force and super-natural energy behind it causing Kanitah to be launched for the second time in this fight away from him. The satisfying crunch his boot had made on contact with his foe’s fingers told him he had done some damage, though nowhere near enough for his liking. Fury marched up on Kanitah, trying to close to that distance where fighting was possible for two unarmed combatants. He was growing frustrated with the fight; Kanitah was proving more difficult than before to pin down and drain, stripping him of his fighting potential while increasing Fury’s own. Instead the reverse was growing more likely, and Fury was getting pissed.

As his temper flared someone watching particularly carefully would have spotted the grass at his feet literally dying as he stepped upon it, the life energy within completely consumed by the Void’s vessel. That same effect was what Kanitah had in store for him if he didn’t move quickly enough.

Seven feet separating them, provided Kanitah had made no sudden movements, Fury would approach with his arms and hands wide, staring down his foe and waiting for his move, half crouched himself to negate his opponent’s short stature.

Should I go with deception or should I go with a direct assault? These are the thoughts that danced in his head as his foe closed the gap, it had always seemed that Kanitah was in way over his head. Deception might work, if Fury was starting to get angry as he had planned. With his still aching right hand he dipped down to the ground, grabbing a handful of damp earth and grass. As he spoke he took on his most serious scowl. Didn't really know how well this would go over, but it didn't really have any risks.

"Did you think you had seen every magic that I hold within?" He rose to his full height with a handful of dirt. "All I need is a pinch of dirt!" With a few nonsense words and noises he pitched it high in the air, we'll above his head and roundabouts where the sun should be. If it went off without a hitch, Fury would look directly into the sun and away from Kanitah. This would allow him time to rapidly close the gap between them without much risk.

Well. Without as much risk as normal.

If Kanitah got lucky, he would be able to enact the second part of his plan. A swift left hook to the broken segment of Fury's armor. The punch would shatter it even further and potentially be able to send his foe flying.

If Fury didn't even look towards the dirt, however, Kanitah would do nothing but return to a defensive stance,

Fury had been given the perfect opportunity to get past Kanitah’s guard, and he wasn’t about to look a gift horse in the mouth. After having closed to his six foot fighting range Kanitah tried for some theatrics, possibly meant to distract the trained Fireen. Unfortunately for him, all it really served to do was weaken his guard by leaving one arm skyward, as Fury darted in surprisingly low. With a blast of energy shot upwards from both hands as he jerked them slightly both of Kanitah’s arms would be slowed in their attempts to stop him. With a little luck, though not as much as he would have required had Kanitah given him the respect he deserved, his right shoulder would ram into Kanitah’s stomach even as his left hand seized the back of his right knee and his right hand caught the left. The moment Fury was able to attain the double leg takedown grip he was looking for it would be simple to push his head under Kanitah’s right arm while simultaneously pushing off with his left leg and using a pulling motion from one side and a chop from the other. This would have the eventual effect of twisting Kanitah off his feet and falling back and to his left, with Fury’s weight slamming on top of him with side control.

Option C was always there for selection, and Fury had opted for it. The distance between them was rapidly decreased as Fury blasted towards Kanitah. If his foe had thought this was going to go off without a hitch he'd be dead wrong. With less than a second to react he had only one option to defend himself.

Kanitah lifted his right leg upwards in a sharp knee block, putting it between his stomach and Fury's shoulder. The force of him raising his knee skyward and Fury's own speed would cause his shoulder some intense pain. Possibly dislocating it in the process.

As well, he brought down a strike towards Fury's head with his tightly balled up fist. Aiming to disorient and stun his foe. However, a blast of energy slowed his descending arm. This would ruin his aim towards Fury's head.

As his defense was raised, however, Fury did slam into him. Full speed and full force was enough to send the pair flying backwards. His left arm helplessly dangling in the air as they flew. The strike to his knee might have popped the bone out of place, but as long as it would serve it's purpose he didn't care yet.

Once the two finally land, however, he knew he'd be in a world of trouble.

Fury loves to grapple.

Fury’s grunted as the armour and shielding of his right shoulder took the brunt of the knee blocking the path into Kanitah’s stomach. Fury was adept at mastering his pain however, especially when his rage began to get the better of him, and by his reckoning he was still somewhat functional. With only one leg on the ground Fury could far more quickly sweep Kanitah off his one remaining foot with his right hand, and Fury pushed his head as close to Kanitah’s right side as possible despite the obstructive presence of his knee. This helped protect him from Kanitah, who tried to rain a blow down upon him but was slowed somewhat by Fury’s energy blasts, giving the Fireen time to complete his takedown slightly more messily than he had hoped.

Kanitah fell and Fury landed on top of him side on, so they formed a sort of humanoid cross. With side control quickly maintained Fury slipped forward and then leftward, bringing his right elbow up to ram it into the left side of Kanitah’s chin and hopefully daze him while he tried to keep him locked down with his left arm.

Fury was a clingy som'bitch, that was for sure. They hit the ground hard, a bit of a crater forming underneath their combined weight as they skidded to a stop. It became instantly evident that Fury was trying to drain him by keeping him pinned down and grappled. The passive drain felt like someone was tugging at every fiber of his being, and if he didn't do something about it there would be hell to pay. There are really only two ways out of this kind of grapple. A wild grapple like this one was easier to get out of than a calculated grapple, and it was pretty evident that Fury's attempt hadn't worked out the way he originally planned.

The deadlocked pair had almost the exact same idea at the exact same time, and positioning between the two was entirely key to the effectiveness of their attacks. Kanitah's right arm was still in the position it had been left in from the failed strike to Fury's crown. This allowed for an almost instant response to the repositioning. Kanitah matched Fury's elbow with his own in a downwards strike, putting his arm between his head and Fury's arm. "Lemme go you filthy leech!" The words were spat from his mouth as he bellowed them to Fury, a bit of spittle flying from his lips towards his foe.

Fury’s elbow bounced off Kanitah’s defence, protecting the short warrior from a dazing strike to his head. Even while stalemating however the grapple was definitely a position in Fury’s favour, as with every passing moment his energy leeching abilities began to sap Kanitah’s strength. This was not lost on the warrior who had felt the Fireen’s most formidable ability at work before, and Fury expected him to quickly intensify his attempts to escape. Deciding that establishing a better degree of contact was in his favour, Fury immediately attempted to transition after his failed elbow strike into the full mount by sliding his left leg over Kanitah’s body and clamping down on his sides with both knees. He kept his head down and close as possible while doing this, making it highly unlikely that his opponent could deal him a blow while he was moving.

Fury was attempting a full mount, and that would put Kanitah solely on the defensive until Fury leeched every ounce of energy from his body. However, it would give Kanitah the perfect position to pin Fury. Allowing the full mount to take place, Kanitah dropped both of his arms to his chest and pushed both of his feet outwards and back. Putting himself into a counter mount posture, protecting his chest and head with his forearms and putting his feet behind Fury's. Once the mount went through, Kanitah brought his right foot inwards around Fury's left foot, this would pin his ankle in place.

"Didn't know you swing like that, Fury. Is this the experimental phase where you're not quite sure who you are? It's okay, most boys go through it." Kanitah joked as the situation was moving into much dire straights, an incendiary comment or two couldn't hurt. Besides, he was already in a bad position. Not like it could get much worse, aside from dying.

Fury obtained the full mount with relative ease and prepared for his opponent, who would grow ever more frantic to escape as time passed and his energy made the Fireen stronger, to attempt to bump him and throw him off. He felt Kanitah trying to obtain some advantage with his legs so he quickly dropped his weight forward and attempted to seize control of Kanitah's head from around the back of his neck with his right arm. While doing this, Fury also fought with Kanitah’s legs, attempting to hook them back and out rather than allowing them to get inside and do the same to Fury, which Fury would have an advantage with being in control of the full mount.

Characteristically, Kanitah was making jokes at what could be one of the most dangerous points in his life. Fury, having little to say, simple grinned at him in that ferocious way warriors do when they sense they’re winning a fight. The next few moments would be critical for Kanitah, could he throw the Fireen? Or was Fury to have victory with his immense advantages in grappling.

As Fury grinned in his face, Kanitah spat directly into his teeth. Again, only for the purpose of pissing him off.

Their legs scrambled around eachother, but Fury's longer legs would prove to be more advantageous as they found better ground around Kanitah's. The grapple persisted and Fury's body was moving downwards onto Kanitah's own and he was moving in for a stranglehold. Which wouldn't be good, you know, breathing is still very important to him. His response was limited to just about three options, two of which weren't guaranteed to work, the other.

Well the other's just plain obvious.

With his hands between Fury and himself, Kanitah thrust both of them upwards into Fury's solar plexus. Without any room to evade the strike he wouldn't be able to defend. While Fury was trying to strangle him, he left his entire chest open for a series of much smaller but very impactful blows. As he would lay a series of short punches into Fury's chest, he would also begin to roll his hips side to side, as well as rocking his shoulders back and forth with each strike.

As well, with each successful blow, it would dent his armor inwards onto his own chest. This would force his breath shallower and shallower as the room for his ribs to expand was diminished.

Kanitah's punches would be at barely at a fifth of their power, and with no defense it would at least push Fury upwards. This would let Kanitah have more room to react, as well as make his follow up. If they succeeded.

Considering Fury’s head was nestled down close to Kanitah’s body, rather than hovering above him in prime head butting range, spitting in his teeth was not actually possible, not that Fury would have cared. Fury managed to hook Kanitah’s legs as he pushed down and tried to enact his choke, but felt a slight pressure and a sudden lifting of his mid-drift as Kanitah attempted to open palm strike his solar plexus. Unfortunately the cramped conditions worked against Kanitah, for even with his force enhancing rings such a blow was never going to be particularly effective against the armoured juggernaut. All it really served to do was force Fury to grit his teeth and try harder for the choke, aiming to wrap his right arm around and behind his opponent’s neck. Technically there was a lot of other moves he could try and transition to at this point, but frankly all Fury needed was a good stable contact point where his opponent couldn’t fight back very well. With that established his energy drain would do the work for him.

Oh. Kanitah thought as he felt the knees of Fury around his waist, and his foe's feet wrapping around his own. I didn't realize what has transpired while this has been going on. With this exact positioning of Fury and Kanitah's legs, Fury inadvertently had given Kanitah total control over his legs. Because while Fury had his feet wrapped around the hero's own, he had also lifted most of his weight off of his knees. As well, his knees were outside.

With a small push, Kanitah lifted his weight onto his feet and twisted his legs inwards. Bringing Fury's legs with them. Following this, he brought both of his feet towards eachother. Moving into the bridging motion of sitting into Indian Style. This would force Fury's weight backwards onto his feet and knees again, and allow Kanitah to follow up with a sharp shove from both of his hands.

This combination of moments would shove the Fireen backwards, bringing both of them into an upright position. While it wouldn't entirely break Fury's hold, it would raise his body much higher than Kanitah's. It would also bend Fury's knees unnaturally to the side, which would hurt like hell.

Fury resisted Kanitah’s movements in two areas, he had his arm wrapped around the back of Kanitah’s neck and held them together closely by holding on with all his strength. In the leg department he couldn’t do much other than directly contest Kanitah attempting to force his legs closer together, but Fury had the hook in and his legs were already stretched open, so he had the advantage somewhat of resisting Kanitah’s move as opposed to trying to enact one like Kanitah was trying. Kanitah was able to make some head-way as their weight shifted somewhat, but Fury held tight and resisted him every step of the way, and now the energy drain was taking effect. Fury had been in contact with Kanitah for a little over five seconds, which in a fight was no small amount of time. With the supremely deadly effect taking hold over time, Kanitah would now feel as is a little over a fifth of his total energy had been drained from him, which was indeed the case.

Comparatively, Fury was growing ever stronger, the drain feeding his strength and giving him greater ability to resist in the ensuing battle of strength and wits.

Beads of sweat rolled down Kanitah's neck as the struggle persisted. Was this all that Fury had amounted to? A clingy leech that wanted nothing more than dinner and a movie? He knew that Fury was insane, but this was just pathetic! If he wanted a snack, he was going to have to fight for it.

Howling with frustration as he did so, Kanitah continued forcing his legs inward and twisted his shoulders and core muscles to his right. Then his left, continuing to rock back and forth.

With Fury's weight shifted, it would be an easy task for the hero to roll over on top of him. Putting Kanitah into the mounted position and turning him from the defensive to the offensive.
