The world stood and watched as thousands were killed in a rash of bio-terror that flowed throughout the world. One virus in particular stood out. It killed within a day of contraction and was spread through all vectors. It was the ultimate death machine. This came only after a streak of the worst case natural disasters struck all the world. In its crippled state, man was weak, fragile and terrorists took advantage of the situation. In the last meeting of the United Nations, briefcases were set in front of each member of the council and each was given a key. In under an hour the world was bathed in nuclear fire and radiation. After 25 years humanity has lost nearly 90% of its population and only now are places on the surface beginning to become habitable again. Humanity found its place in the coldest, highest, lowest and hottest places on Earth. From the ashes of the old world human civilization once again emerges to stake its claim in a world rampant with mutation, disease and radiation.

Roleplay

Rules: 1: No god-modding (No insta-kills or overpowered nonsense) 2: Battles will be decided in three ways, player consensus(Both players agree on a winner), Dice rolls, or GM/Co-GM decision 3: No overpowered individuals (You may play as a nation and an individual in your nation as long as the individual is mortal) 4: No overpowered mutations (Your people can be mutated in ways but every mutation has a draw back) 5: No Ganking (Ganging up on a player, unless there is good reason) Information: This roleplay is based on many different post apocalyptic stories. STALKER, Metro 2033/Metro Last Light, and Fallout for the most part. You will create a faction/country based loosely on these stories or a completely original idea and lay claim to an area on the map. By laying claim to an area, you prevent other players from starting there, however your faction/country DOES NOT control all of it (Unless its VERY small) this is just to space out players a bit so there is not much early game interaction, to allow players to grow and understand each other's play styles better. I do need a CO-GM, I'll be deciding that before we go to OOC and yes Rhymer, remnants are Ok, hence the Old World Connection section. Obviously though you can't claim sovereignty over that government but you can be a descendant.

Well, it has been a good while since I have done a nation roleplay. This is indeed has my interest.

So, this virus that kills in one day, does it have a name and does it still exist to this day?

The Reaper, and I will leave it up to the players to decide if they want it to exist still.

I'm guessing that major cities like Chicago, New York, San Francisco, and etc. were heavily hit by the Reaper.

Some cities were but not all, the CDC acted quick to try and cut off the cities but the countryside (Why so many actually died) was decimated by it. Most cities were hit by natural disasters then thermonuclear warheads.

Culture and Society

They are a modernized German Empire, and are living in the wastes of the Rheinland. vɔʁms, or Worms, is their only remaining city. They are stout and battle hardened people, and all able persons must serve a 6-year term in the military. Being that they are entirely focused on taking back Berlin, few people have time for art and culture. What remains of their culture is mostly modern German elements, with quite a few callbacks to pre-WW1 German Empire.

Location

Old World Connection

Germany, most notably culture specific to the Rheinland in 1850-1950. They do have modernized weapons and tech, but are of course struggling to secure their weapons from rival Germanic tribes.

Population

vɔʁms: 75,000 within the city, 30,000 military. Northern countryside: 8000, 2000 military. Soulthern countryside: 7,000, 1,500 military.

Government

Ruled an autocratic 'Emperor'; Kaiser Nikolaus Jäger. He allows a free market, but considers political opposition treasonous.

Language

Most common language is Deutsch, but some English and French are spoken.

Economic System

Free market, practically all people who are not in the military are gun, food, or simple clothing merchants.

Exports

Fine rifles, the fine gunmaking business has sprung as nearly the only art form within the Rheinland.

Imports

Wood, brick, and other building materials.

Food/Water sources

Lake Constance is their Primary water source, and various countryside farms assure that they at least won't starve.

Strengths

Defendable position

The city of Worms has 30 ft deep trenches on all sides of it. Various tram systems can carry the farmers to the countryside if need be.

Wiling Populace

The population burns with rage at the Fourth Reich, a Neo-Nazi terrorist group that has taken over Berlin. They swear that they will conquer them, and even civilians proudly curse in their name.

Weaknesses

Resource Trapped

The citizens of Rheinland know their fate, that is to take over Berlin, or starve. Farms are already beginning to wield less and less produce, and metal supplies are dangerously low.

Insurgents

Fourth Reich insurgents believe it is their duty to conquer Worms. They utilize suicide bombers, grenade launchers, bomber planes, and have even tried to utilize a stolen nuke. these attacks have crippled the Rheinland.
