Dragon Knights: Genesis [Sign Ups!]

The Kingdom of New Torrea. A kingdom that has gone through lots of changes. Revolutions, reconstruction, revolts, and just now, does it seem that things are finally settling down.... Only to be brought to its primitive stage once more. King Allamon, the kindest king the kingdom has seen in ages and the one that was about to bring peace to not only the kingdom, not only the whole country, but to the whole continent. A virtuos and yet relentless man, has fallen ill and become bedridden, leaving the kingdom in hands of Prime Minister Donat. An intelligent, but unscrupulous man that would stop at nothing to see the kingdom not only prosper, but expand. With the king bedridden, nothing stops him from fulfilling his ambitions, even while the princess tries her best to stall his feet at every step Donat gives, he is still steadily advancing. The kingdom's finest have all gone to his side, and few remain loyal to the real king. This is the story of a group of people that will try to stop the Prime Minister with all they have... or die trying.

All right, this is just a little prologue to this idea of mine. I will go more into detail after some interest is here. But of course, I don't plan on just hoping to let you guess the contents! Here are some facts that you should know before anything else!

FACTS

• There IS magic in here, but the number of mages is really limited. I will go into more details if someone asks me something either here or in a PM. Every country has a mage of the court, who is the most powerful (known) mage in the country.
• The only race you will be able to play here is human, though angels and demons also roam around here, there are no elves or dwarves or such.
• There are some special, real special weapons we'll find here. Their name is Dragon Gauntlets, and there are four of them in total. I'll leave the rest to your imagination as to what you think they can do. Each country holds one of this, and the people who wear them are called Dragon Knights. There are many great stories about them, and they roam around the masses even now, and hold an special place alongside the rulers of each country.
• The level of technology here reaches guns and weapons of the like, but there are no TVs, cellphones, or crap like that. Still, guns are really scarce, just like magic, so most people still prefer good ol' steel.
• Including New Torrea, the kingdom we'll start in, there are 4 other countries your character can come from:
  • New Torrea, Known for being the country with the greatest technological advancements, guns are already a reality here, but only in here, so you either buy one here or get someone to send it to you. It has a monarchy.
  • Milokis, Every mage hails from here and studies here. The Mage Council rules over everyone, and are the most powerful mages in the whole continent, studying under one of the mage council is an honor.
  • Nijiara, The agricultural country. From here comes all the food eaten in all the other countries. It has an extense fauna and flora, but their armies aren't as though as others, so they rely more in assassins and rogues. It also has a monarchy.
  • Hoskaros, The biggest country in the continent. They had a big expansion several years ago, but have now calmed down after the assassination of their last king. They now have became a democracy, however no one holds a position above others, much like in the Mage Council, where everything is decided through votes.

Name: Tsubasa Akiyama (Western order, given name first.) Nicknames/Titles: The Red Death Age: 23 Skills:

• Expert Swordsman - Having trained most of his life in the art of the sword, Tsubasa is quite adept with a blade. Drawback: Without a blade he's severely weakened.
• Stealth - Becoming an assassin has taught Tsubasa the importance of stealth. He can't make himself disappear in shadows or ninja his way across buildings, but he's good at staying unnoticed and setting up ambushes. Drawback: Once noticed, he's hard to forget.
• Agility - Tsubasa is significantly faster than the average person during activities such as running and leaping. Drawback: Brute power is lacking.

Magic: [Approved by GM] Sekiga, Tsubasa's sword, is more than a well made heirloom. In Nijiara, there are legends of famous swordsmiths and swords who were supernatural in ability, becoming more powerful the more enemies they slew, or so sharp they could cut a dragonfly that landed on their blade. Sekiga the Red Fang is one of these, bearing a special enchantment. Effect: When Sekiga cuts an opponent, it "drinks" their blood and stores it in a hollow inside the hilt. A normal wound will provide 1 "unit" of blood. This blood can be used for three different techniques. 10 units can be stored at a time. Uses: Blood Elixir - By drinking the blood in the hilt, Tsubasa can heal minor wounds and accelerate the healing of greater wounds. It requires 3 units of blood. 5 units will heal greater wounds. 7 units will heal all wounds. Bloody Reaver - A boiling wave of blood is released as a projection of a sword slash to travel roughly ten meters before it begins to fall apart. The target, if struck, is "slashed" as if with a hot blade. Requires 3 units. Blood Rot - The blood inside the hilt begins to rot and blacken. When using this technique, each cut of the sword on a target will poison them, building over time. One cut will slightly numb the struck limb. Two cuts will paralyze that limb. Three spreads numbness over that side of the body, four over the whole body, and so on and so forth. Each cut consumes 1 unit of blood, and while the technique is in use more blood cannot be drawn. Equipment:

• Sekiga - This sword, its name meaning "Red Fang" is a well forged and well maintained steel katana that has been in Tsubasa's family for generations. It bears a dangerous enchantment.
• Standard Traveling Gear - All that stuff required for world-wandering, like a pack and sleeping bag.
• Extra Clothes - In his line of work, Tsubasa often makes use of disguises.

Personality: Cold, sarcastic, unnecessarily hostile, determined to the point of obsession. Seems somewhat tired all the time, with a haggard expression, but when focused or angry his eyes grow sharp and bright once more. Cares little about people and a great deal about money and status. However, in rare moments, there are hints of a great sorrow within, and it seems not all of his traits are genuine... Biography: Tsubasa's ancestors were famous swordmasters, and from the age of six he was trained in the art of the blade by his father. Tsubasa's mother, however, was a foreigner to Nijiara, and he inheirited her hair and eyes. This made him somewhat of an oddity among his neighbors, and he was treated as such. He experienced many hardships, and one in particular drove him away from the village where he grew up. To make a living he resorted to using his blade for any reason at all, regardless of what side of the law he was on. Gangs, banditry, and finally, assassination. Tsubasa eventually became well known in the underworld of Nijiara, perhaps a little too much so. It was then that he heard that the king of New Torrea had fallen ill and that the kingdom's Minister had new, questionable policies. A throne ripe for taking, a politician that people didn't like. It sounded like a ripe job market ready to burst, so Tsubasa packed his necessities and struck out on the road. Others: Often uses berry juice, crushed flowers, or other methods of dying his hair to prevent himself from standing out when on the job. Still, some of the color often manages to shine through, giving him his nickname in the underworld.

Appearance Name: Bristlebane Nicknames/Titles: Troubadour, Hero, Thief, Savior, Demon, Angel Age: 19 Skills: Music, Break-dancing, Acrobatics, Sword-fighting, cooking, lying, singing, stealing, sneaking and flirting Equipment: Two Swordbreakers, Several throwing knives A lute Travelling rations A sleeping bag Flint and steel Several smoke bombs One bola One gun A bullet mold, Lots of money and a small bugling horn Personality: Bristlebane is a dashing young fellow full of liveliness and adventure. A travelling musician, but he is also more of that, he aims to become a hero of sort and is quite adept in combat, specifically when fighting many opponents, as on his travels he has often been set upon by brigands. He is a shameless flirt, however besides that he maintains a strictly chivalrous front. Of course he would never lie to a lady, much less fight one, and help any damsel in distress he can find. That said he can be a bit arrogant at times and quite overbearing Biography: Bristlebane's past is unknown however many believe him to be a travelling noble, it would certainly explain his eccentrics, and his well educated manner. Of course other rumors speak of him as a terrible mix of demon and angel, one moment wooing a beautiful damsel, the next tearing into a group of villains that insist upon wrong doing. Of course no one can say for sure where he came from, perhaps even himself?

Very interesting and entertaining looking concept, so I'm interested in joining if you'll have me. I have an idea for magic already but I would prefer you to give it an all clear before I build a character around it, so here it is:

Paper God Magic

Magic: Paper God Magic is the ability to freely manipulate sheets of paper through the will of the user to form a wide variety of shapes and forms. The more skilled the user the more complicated and intricate the shapes that can be formed. Paper that is being manipulated is far more durable and resistant to damage than conventional paper and is as strong as any steel while Paper God Magic flows through it. Basic practitioners of this magic use it to form small weapons and shields, more advanced practitioners have a far more varied repertoire of techniques as their disposal. The greatest weakness of Paper God Magic is that of fire, regardless of whether the fire is magical or natural in origin, though natural fire needs to burn far hotter to destroy than magical fire to inflict the same degree of damage. Paper that has been soaked is also an issue for practitioners of this form of magic as it becomes more difficult to wield. However paper that is already being manipulated can only be drenched by the use of magical imbued water. Rain water and the like is not sufficient. As distance from the caster increases so does the difficulty in maintaining control of any manipulated units of paper, preventing effective long range attacks and limiting the effective range of the magic to medium range at most. The guns here reach snipers and things of the like, but they aren't as advanced as to be full automatic, so there are heavy hitting snipers and revolvers, things of the like that can store several bullets and just need to be reloaded every once in a while. @ConstantinePaper God Magic.... I like it. Yep, I think there's nothing wrong, as long as you can't create dragons out of paper, everything's good. xD @Eklispe Bristlebane is accepted! Still, if you have anything else in mind for him in his Backstory, please, shoot me a PM with it, I'd like to see we ain't overstepping our bounds. xD

Name: Yunan Nicknames/Titles: The Weaver Age: Early 20s Skills: Magic - Yunan is a talented person with his skills being almost like a prodigy in the magical arts, being very talented and resourceful on what he has at hand. Despite his flaws that he has, he manages to come up with something to shorten the gaps that are made. Despite his lack of mana to preform spells after spells, he is able to preform an combination of spells to create a larger and more potent effect. This effectively saves up a small amount of mana when doing so and it takes longer but its energy-conservative. His overall knowledge of magic in every branch is well versed as if he have studied them extensively but his age and skill in them dont show, making many people doubt him. Magic: Yunan is a skilled and specializes in the branch of Lightning and Protection magic, which he effectively uses separately. He doesn't often use the two elements together but are potent either way individually. Outside those two magic branches Yunan is still capable of casting spells of average difficulty, meaning that he is fairly proficient in general but chooses to focus on the two. His magical output is amazing and can overwhelm majority of mages who are the same caliber as him, but he is hold back by a fatal weakness. What is limiting him on using his magic is that Yunan sadly has a smaller amount of mana than the regular mage and has to be fairly careful on using his spells as he tires himself out quickly. But with the style of casting that he uses he often manages to go through a long fight with some difficulty but survives with a tiny bit of mana left. However the most noticeable spell that he seems to always have up with little to no difficulty is called the 'Borg' which is a barrier that constantly surrounds him in a yellow barrier. It can block off most physical attacks and some magical attacks but its defensive prowess depends on the magical powers of whoever use it. However an immense amount of force from a physical attack can crush and destroy the barrier, but the best way is to use magic and destroy it. (Guns.... Uhhh pls no hit me) Equipment:

• Solomon's Staff: Yunan's staff is an artifact gained by mysterious means but allows him to more easily preform his spells without using much of his own mana, by drawing it upon the energy of the land and spirits its easy to use when combining spells. The absorption rate of the staff is nothing impressive but it saves Yunan a great deal of trouble but if he wants to cast magic fast he still has to contribute some mana to fast quickly. If too much energy is drawn it could create disastrous effects on the environment and cause the staff to fizzle out for hours at end making sure that Yunan doesn't overuse it. It also has a secondary use of being able to communicate to spirits and guide them to the 'after-life' if it is needed.
• Force Necklace: A necklace bought from an marketplace, it enhances magical spells placed on the user that aren't healing. Mostly bought to empower shields placed on the user by allied spells or themselves, it helps mages survive during close combat.
• Mystery Cube: A strange cube that Yunan carries around with him, it generally has no use but when placed in a bowl of water. It adsorbs it before releasing a foreign material that slowly disappears into the air. It is presumed that it also adsorbs air as well and releases the purified form of that, making it a magical air-cleaner while storing the pollution in itself. When it is released it creates a big wind spell that knocks everything away in a 10 meter radius.
• Traveling Bag: A bag which holds all the bare necessities for Yunan when traveling, which holds a tent, a sleeping bag and occasionally has some extra food in there.

Personality: Yunan is a distant person who often keeps to himself, however when aggravated and brought to a corner he turns into a unforgiving and unrelenting opponent who will probably kill a person even if they have surrendered. Yunan isn't really know for his friendliness but his loyalty is no question unless you do something to severely break his trust in which he wouldn't publicly show, you would have to find about it yourself. However, rarely when he is in the mood to be friendly or even talkative, he is often a curious person asking why this or that happens and sometimes these question can even be about general things. Although he doesn't seem like the type, he is easily impressionable by people around him and will do by example, so unless you teach him he will interpret things his own way. Outside his silence and sometimes aggressiveness, he gives off the air of naiveness and clueless to people who come upon his. Biography: Not many people know where Yunan come from, some people says he is the apprentice of an arhcmage but ran away, other have said he is a demonic being that escaped from the clutches of the church. Other rumors says that he simply just comes a small town and recently exposed his powerful abilities as a magician. Either way it is no fact that Yunan is a rumor flying about that he is a person who is a talented mage, who is nearly unreachable with several exceptions. Scattered reports shows that Yunan is a person who doesn't linger in a place for long and has no real goal to achieve in mind, however places that are visited by him are usually highly advance in technology or in medicine of both scientific and natural kind. Besides those scattered places Yunan doesn't travel anywhere else interesting. However, the next place he is visiting now is New Torrea. Others: None
