Ages ago, there once stood a mighty empire named Egyel. This empire was ruled by an everlasting king, a man who his subjected both revered and feared, for he had become a god in his own right. His rule was absolute, and his word was law. He never aged, never fell to a usurper's sword, and held his position with an iron grip. Not even the sons and daughters he sired in his lifetime could grasp the power that their father held.
What he did as a ruler and how he did it remain a mystery to scholars even today, save for one face: One day, he simply disappeared, as if he had never been there in the first place. The years following the king's disappearance nearly destroyed the kingdom from the inside-out, as his “successors” tore it into pieces as they fought for the king's former seat of power. Former family, noble houses, orders of knights, everyone rushed to fill the vacuum that was left by the ancient king's disappearance.
When the fighting eventually stopped, and the smoke cleared, the casualties of that war were insurmountable. The very earth seemed to lament the lives that were lost in the pursuit of power. The two that ended that war were Maccus, head of House Lugere, and Hidan, leader of the Ayero family guard. With the help of two mythical beasts, they brought peace to both factions and began the truce that would last hundreds of years.
During that war, the land split into three: the western, icy continent that would come to be known as Lugere, the eastern, more temperate continent that would come to be known as Ayero, and the northern continent where the worst of the fighting took place which remained Egyel.
But as always, all good things must come to and end...
A millennium has past since the founding of Lugere and Ayero, and tensions are rising between the two countries. Past mistakes have evaporated into nothing but a memory, and rumors abound of war as the descendants of Maccus and Hidan seek to take what they think is rightfully theirs. But for now, things are as they always were, and life goes on for most people: farmers harvest their crops, warriors train, and squires struggle to follow in their knight's footsteps. Life is normal, peaceful even.
Save for one mysterious faction of people: the Morphs. They first began appearing around the time of Maccus and Hidan, although some people believe that they have had always been there, out of sight. Only recently have Morphs become much more common, common enough to become a problem for the countries of Lugere and Ayero. Morphs are humans who have been blessed (or cursed?) with the ability to shift into a Pokemon form. They are, at best, feared for their powers... and at worst, they are hunted down and filled for being dangerous and demonic abominations.
Now that the threat of being eradicated from the face of existence looms over their heads, Morphs need to come together more than ever to survive the coming days... and yet, even some have decided to turn their backs on their own kind in exchange for their own safety. Because of this, the Morphs have formed a secret alliance in the last twenty years, lead by three powerful morphs. This alliance is named the Lotus Triumvirate, also known as the Lotus, and word is only spread among Morphs who may be willing to join their cause...
And so, with war looming on more than one horizon, what will you do in these trying times?
Lead by the descendants of Maccus, it uses the image of Lugia as a crest. The lands are cold and unforgiving to the western and southern portions, but become more bearable to the north and east. Covered in snow-capped mountains and pine forests for the most part, but nearer to the Barrier Sea they fish for a living. Lumberjacking and fishing are plentiful throughout the country, but the mountains yield precious metals and gems in abundance to make up for their poor farming conditions. The people of Lugere are hardy and used to the cold for the large part.
Lead by the chosen successors of Hidan, uses the image of Ho-Oh as a crest. Almost a polar opposite to Lugere, Ayero is covered in a light blanket of warm wind throughout the year. Covered in moors, fields, rolling hills, and thin forests, with no mountains to speak of. Ayero's people are accustomed to the warmth and use it to take advantage of the crops that are grown there.
A secret Morph society lead by the Triumvirate, powerful Morphs of psychic, fairy and ghost types. They have gathered in the Rust Desert in Ayero, and the Stardrop Mountains in Lugere, so that they can spread their influence over the countries. They take in Morphs who seek their aid. Not many people see the leaders, but the members of this society usually obey them to the letter, and are extremely loyal to the Triumvirate. Any traitors are usually “dealt with”.
Humans: These should be a bit familiar. The most common being, aside from Pokemon. Humans in this world are tougher than those in the “real world”, and can recover from injuries rather quickly. However, more severe injuries will take more than a couple minutes, hours, or days to fix. Roleplay accordingly.
Pokemon: An all-encompassing term for the various creatures that exist throughout this world. Pokemon are often tamed by humans for companionship, combat, or manual labor. Taming is done the old fashioned way, through force or friendship. Everyone save the most capable tamers can only handle a single Pokemon at a time. Sometimes they can be found with odd colors, though they are not as rare as they will be in the future – roughly one in twenty has an odd coloration. Some Pokemon, due to their power or rarity, are seen as legendary creatures. Occasionally one such creature will ally with a human, but that is rare. Consult the Legendary Grimoire below [WIP, incomplete] for more information.
Morphs: Humans who can change forms to that of a Pokemon. They are bound to a single evolutionary line for their entire lives, something that is passed down from either their mother or father. Lately, however, some humans have been turning into Morphs for apparently no reason, with no memory of why it happened other than a horrible nightmare. In their human forms, Morphs are almost indistinguishable from humans, but certain Pokemon are particularly sensitive to their true nature, and are used as hounds to sniff out Morphs. Morphs can shift at will, though quick shifts between forms can cause pain and minor deformation. Extreme emotions may also cause a Morph to shift into their Pokemon form. They can communicate with Pokemon while shifted, although not very effectively. They can reproduce with other Morphs and humans, but not with Pokemon. The child of a Morph will always be a Morph.
- All the basic guild rules apply here, as always.
- While I am the GM, I am fallible. If you are dissatisfied with something, just send me a private message. This also applies if you have any problems with the Co-GM @Aphelion. Just keep that sort of stuff off the thread itself.
- This RP will have death, and probably romance. Just don't overdo it and, at the most, just fade-to-black.
- Politics will be a strong driving force in this RP.
- Permission is required for anyone with a legendary Pokemon.
- No shiny legendaries. Period.
- I might place a ban on legendaries or shinies in the future if suddenly everyone and their mother has one.
- Morphs cannot be legendary Pokemon.
- Major brownie points for using a more obscure Pokemon.
- Try not to get too upset.
- Inform @Pirouette or @Aphelion if you will be dropping out of the RP so that we can take care of your character and clean up loose ends.
-and their Pokemon-
If a name is underlined, it means that they cannot be chosen as player Pokemon. Bolded names with a * next to them mean that the Pokemon's already been taken.
