Ages ago, there once stood a mighty empire named Egyel. This empire was ruled by an everlasting king, a man who his subjected both revered and feared, for he had become a god in his own right. His rule was absolute, and his word was law. He never aged, never fell to a usurper's sword, and held his position with an iron grip. Not even the sons and daughters he sired in his lifetime could grasp the power that their father held. What he did as a ruler and how he did it remain a mystery to scholars even today, save for one face: One day, he simply disappeared, as if he had never been there in the first place. The years following the king's disappearance nearly destroyed the kingdom from the inside-out, as his “successors” tore it into pieces as they fought for the king's former seat of power. Former family, noble houses, orders of knights, everyone rushed to fill the vacuum that was left by the ancient king's disappearance. When the fighting eventually stopped, and the smoke cleared, the casualties of that war were insurmountable. The very earth seemed to lament the lives that were lost in the pursuit of power. The two that ended that war were Maccus, head of House Lugere, and Hidan, leader of the Ayero family guard. With the help of two mythical beasts, they brought peace to both factions and began the truce that would last hundreds of years. During that war, the land split into three: the western, icy continent that would come to be known as Lugere, the eastern, more temperate continent that would come to be known as Ayero, and the northern continent where the worst of the fighting took place which remained Egyel. But as always, all good things must come to and end... A millennium has past since the founding of Lugere and Ayero, and tensions are rising between the two countries. Past mistakes have evaporated into nothing but a memory, and rumors abound of war as the descendants of Maccus and Hidan seek to take what they think is rightfully theirs. But for now, things are as they always were, and life goes on for most people: farmers harvest their crops, warriors train, and squires struggle to follow in their knight's footsteps. Life is normal, peaceful even. Save for one mysterious faction of people: the Morphs. They first began appearing around the time of Maccus and Hidan, although some people believe that they have had always been there, out of sight. Only recently have Morphs become much more common, common enough to become a problem for the countries of Lugere and Ayero. Morphs are humans who have been blessed (or cursed?) with the ability to shift into a Pokemon form. They are, at best, feared for their powers... and at worst, they are hunted down and filled for being dangerous and demonic abominations. Now that the threat of being eradicated from the face of existence looms over their heads, Morphs need to come together more than ever to survive the coming days... and yet, even some have decided to turn their backs on their own kind in exchange for their own safety. Because of this, the Morphs have formed a secret alliance in the last twenty years, lead by three powerful morphs. This alliance is named the Lotus Triumvirate, also known as the Lotus, and word is only spread among Morphs who may be willing to join their cause... And so, with war looming on more than one horizon, what will you do in these trying times?
Lead by the descendants of Maccus, it uses the image of Lugia as a crest. The lands are cold and unforgiving to the western and southern portions, but become more bearable to the north and east. Covered in snow-capped mountains and pine forests for the most part, but nearer to the Barrier Sea they fish for a living. Lumberjacking and fishing are plentiful throughout the country, but the mountains yield precious metals and gems in abundance to make up for their poor farming conditions. The people of Lugere are hardy and used to the cold for the large part. Lead by the chosen successors of Hidan, uses the image of Ho-Oh as a crest. Almost a polar opposite to Lugere, Ayero is covered in a light blanket of warm wind throughout the year. Covered in moors, fields, rolling hills, and thin forests, with no mountains to speak of. Ayero's people are accustomed to the warmth and use it to take advantage of the crops that are grown there. A secret Morph society lead by the Triumvirate, powerful Morphs of psychic, fairy and ghost types. They have gathered in the Rust Desert in Ayero, and the Stardrop Mountains in Lugere, so that they can spread their influence over the countries. They take in Morphs who seek their aid. Not many people see the leaders, but the members of this society usually obey them to the letter, and are extremely loyal to the Triumvirate. Any traitors are usually “dealt with”.
Humans: These should be a bit familiar. The most common being, aside from Pokemon. Humans in this world are tougher than those in the “real world”, and can recover from injuries rather quickly. However, more severe injuries will take more than a couple minutes, hours, or days to fix. Roleplay accordingly. Pokemon: An all-encompassing term for the various creatures that exist throughout this world. Pokemon are often tamed by humans for companionship, combat, or manual labor. Taming is done the old fashioned way, through force or friendship. Everyone save the most capable tamers can only handle a single Pokemon at a time. Sometimes they can be found with odd colors, though they are not as rare as they will be in the future – roughly one in twenty has an odd coloration. Some Pokemon, due to their power or rarity, are seen as legendary creatures. Occasionally one such creature will ally with a human, but that is rare. Consult the Legendary Grimoire below [WIP, incomplete] for more information. Morphs: Humans who can change forms to that of a Pokemon. They are bound to a single evolutionary line for their entire lives, something that is passed down from either their mother or father. Lately, however, some humans have been turning into Morphs for apparently no reason, with no memory of why it happened other than a horrible nightmare. In their human forms, Morphs are almost indistinguishable from humans, but certain Pokemon are particularly sensitive to their true nature, and are used as hounds to sniff out Morphs. Morphs can shift at will, though quick shifts between forms can cause pain and minor deformation. Extreme emotions may also cause a Morph to shift into their Pokemon form. They can communicate with Pokemon while shifted, although not very effectively. They can reproduce with other Morphs and humans, but not with Pokemon. The child of a Morph will always be a Morph.
  • All the basic guild rules apply here, as always.
  • While I am the GM, I am fallible. If you are dissatisfied with something, just send me a private message. This also applies if you have any problems with the Co-GM @Aphelion. Just keep that sort of stuff off the thread itself.
  • This RP will have death, and probably romance. Just don't overdo it and, at the most, just fade-to-black.
  • Politics will be a strong driving force in this RP.
  • Permission is required for anyone with a legendary Pokemon.
  • No shiny legendaries. Period.
  • I might place a ban on legendaries or shinies in the future if suddenly everyone and their mother has one.
  • Morphs cannot be legendary Pokemon.
  • Major brownie points for using a more obscure Pokemon.
  • Try not to get too upset.
  • Inform @Pirouette or @Aphelion if you will be dropping out of the RP so that we can take care of your character and clean up loose ends.
Morphs cannot have Pokemon allies from the start. Humans can have up to one Pokemon. Just be sure to keep things sensible. Also, don't forget to keep the QQcode, makes things easier to read for me.
-and their Pokemon-
If a name is underlined, it means that they cannot be chosen as player Pokemon. Bolded names with a * next to them mean that the Pokemon's already been taken.

Locations & Areas List
LUGERE
This continent is colder to the north, becoming tundra and pure ice the further northeast you go. However, in the middle of the continent there are pine forests where the snow and cold isn't quite so unbearable, and large valleys that dominate the country. Glacial waterfalls feed rivers that come down from the Stardrop Mountains that make up the north coast of Lugere. 1. Maccus: Kingdom of Lugere that rests on the southern coast, near the Barrier Sea. The silk and fishing trades are booming here, and the city is primarily made of stone.
2. Stardrop Mountains: A vast mountain range named for the stalactites that fall off and drop to the earth below. These stately mountains are rich in minerals and gems, and house many noble houses and mining operations. Blackened Skyhold: An Umbrasis holding. A huge mountain castle made so that if there is ever an invasion, the citizens can travel here to be protected. Stores large supplies of rations to feed the people. Castle Umbraisis: A rather gothic looking castle that dominates the rocky landscape that surrounds it. There is only one safe road to and from this place, as it is surrounded by rocky terrain filled with dangerous cracks and crevices. Throughout the road there are many checkpoints and choke gates to dissuade invaders, as well as heavy patrols to take care of any bandits that try to set up shop. Deadman's Reef: An Umbrasis holding. A naval military port, located south of Maccus on the coast of the Barrier Sea. Easily defensible from the sea, but has outlets so that sending out ships is possible without much risk. Heatran Monastery: A monastery dedicated to the Legendary Pokemon, Heatran. Located near the southwestern mountains, far off the beaten path for most travelers.
AYERO
This continent ranges from pleasant, hilly breezes nearer to the north coast, and transitions into more muggy environments the further you venture into the country, and then into more tropical environments on the south coast. The Rust Desert makes a prominent landscape on the eastern portion of the continent. The southwestern coast is the only part of Ayero that ever sees even a hint of snow, and when it does snow it is very light and never sticks to the earth, evaporating before it even touches the ground. 1. Hidan: The capital of Ayero where the Queen of Ayero, Ellysian la Ayero the III, sits upon the throne. Guarding the city is the Queen's Guard, an elite militia that acts as the Queen's hand across Ayero, but mainly they serve to police and protect the capital. It rests on the Luminescent Hills. Glass making is a prominent trade of the city.
2. Rust Desert: A desert that varies in it's intensity, getting more unbearable the farther northeast it goes. There are some cities on the southern and western portions, but no known locales are in the heart of the desert, as far as anyone is aware. Luminescent Hills: Large rolling hills that are breathtaking in their beauty, named for the fact that the multi-colored flowers are as plentiful as the grass. Any trees that grow there are vibrant in the coloration of their leaves, ranging from hues of red, orange, yellow, and white, to subtle greens. The Queendom of Hidan is located here. Havenport: A large port city which the House Espada oversees. It is known for having a Council of Elders who dictate the rules and laws, and for also producing many sea-faring warriors for Ayero. Vast farmlands cover the area around the town, and the Espadas keep security in their city with an iron-grip, so much so that it is hailed as one of the safest places for a law-abiding citizen to visit.

List of NPCs

LUGERE

King Garroth of Maccus, First of his Name: Often nicknamed "Stoneheart", many people of Lugere feel like their king is cold and emotionless but that brings out the more regal qualities such as being just or wise. He is considered the rightful heir of the old empire and Lugia and all of Lugere hold the utmost loyalty for their king. He is an excellent fighter and tactician, proven in combat, and many claim these qualities alone set himself apart from his sister, Queen Ellysian. Morphs are tolerated but generally sided against as it is in the Garroth's best interest to keep the Morph-hating lords of his empire happy. He is not an overly ambitious man and seeks only to return the empire to its true original glory.

Damon & Elise Skyheart: Influential nobles who serve the King very closely. The profession of their House is mining, and they oversee one of the largest mining operations in the Stardrop Mountains. It is said that Damon is a very hard man, whereas Elise is softer and more kind to make up for how hard her husband can be. Articuno was the Legendary Pokemon bound to their House, now in the possession of their only child and heiress, Sophia Skyheart.

House Umbrasis: A large noble House that has many holdings across Lugere. Primarily focused on military strength (more to be added later)

House Liastine: Known for building the Sky Pillar before a coup d'etat ended the great works of this noble House.

AYERO

Queen Ellysian la Ayero the III: Sits upon the Rising Sun Throne, with Ho-Oh nearby to increase her grandiose. She is said to be incredibly beautiful, and fair to most of her subjects, yet the darker sides of her portray a personage more conniving and close-minded. She is a known Morph-hater, and sends out her Queen's Guard to find and slay them wherever they can be found. She also seeks to expand her Queendom far beyond what her ancestors did, to Egyel itself, and so to the riches of the ancient past.

The Espadas: This House is more like it's own miniature country, with a Council of Elders who oversee the younger generations. They produce many fine guards, sea-faring warriors loyal to the Crown of Ayero, and farmers. They own one of some of the largest farm lands near to the Regalia River, which leads directly to Hidan itself from the Barrier Sea. They worship Kyogre as their patron deity, who is currently in the possession of Corivana Espada, much to their dislike. Their main House is located in the rather large port-city of Havenport.

- Cassius Espada: Brother of Corivana Espada and a man who is undertaking some very shady business involving kidnapping Legendary and powerful Pokemon alike.

LOTUS TRIUMVIRATE

Triumvirate: Three powerful Morphs who seek to unite the Morphs across Lugere and Ayero. They are highly secretive about their base locations and themselves, and most people only know the fact that there is a psychic-type, fairy-type, and ghost-type. The psychic-type seems to be the brains, the fairy-type the brawn, and the ghost-type the espionage and information gathering.

Hahahaha don't make fun of my naming skillz! XD EDIT: We're working on the introductory post and npc lists as well as some locations to give people better starting points [if they'd like to use them]. Anyone who has an already accepted character, please do me a favor and pm me a short bit of info about your town/city/manor and where you would like it located in Lugere and Ayero. Describing the "theme" and "feel" of your city would help immensely. If you wanna go incredibly in depth, you can find artwork online that fits your town and a "crest" for the town, if applicable. Also, with the changes to Morphs, being able to be "transformed through a horrible nightmare" and suddenly awake one day to be a Morph, anyone who already has a Morph character can opt to change their Morph into having been transformed instead of born as a Morph. Just inform us. I'm working on the first introductory post for today, but please save the first and/or second slots for me and @Pirouette.

That's perfectly fine! Legendary Pokemon tend to be associated with nobility but exceptions can be made.

Well, I might be able to work the history so that he was the youngest, and left because of some family feud, and seeks Latios.

Some legendaries can still be wild and untamed so a story on your character's quest to tame a Latios would just as good.

Latios is definitely one of the legendaries capable of being acquired by somebody of non-noble birth, a possible hero, or someone who will rise to do great things. Or terrible things, depending on how you want to spin it. I'm interested in seeing your character :]

I just had Darkrai kill a whole monastery over a decade ago, so I don't think it will be that hard unless Darkrai's apart of a house. Also. epic sig, what's it say?

Ironically enough, it says the same thing as Enalais's siganture lol. "It's time to toss the dice" A quote from the character Mattrim Cauthon from the Wheel of Time book series. Darkrai is part of a House, I believe. Pirouette should be able to plan around the events of John's history accordingly, but the agenda and motive behind why Darkrai did it will probably be dictated by her, which should make things more interesting for you. ;3

Yey, that's great, cause in my mind the whole reason was "Darkrai just wanted to be an evil asshole" if it ever came up during the last RP. Speaking of, I'm glad that this RP has made it through 3 GM changes, that is beyond amazing to me.

Oh I think you'll find Darkrai and the Lordling to be fitting. The monastery, I imagine, is something that started something much greater for the two.

To help facilitate the rp, I sketched out a somewhat crude "overworld" map of the continents. As cities are added and locations decided, I'll add more numbers to indicate where on the map locations are, and I'll make sure I have a legend for them as well. http://i.imgur.com/5dokOMM.png or
Map Legend
Lugere
1: the Kingdom of Maccus 2: Stardrop Mountain range
Ayero
1: the Queendom of Hidan 2: Rust Desert
