Appearance:
Ghoul Mask:
Ishin’s mask is a stylized metal helmet which looks to be a single piece of stained glass dyed multiple colours. It has no features present on the face plate and gives Ishin an eerily inhuman appearance.
Name: Ishin Kuhaku
Nicknames: “Savage”
Age: 23
Gender: Male
Rank: S
Kagune: Ishin’s Kagunes are patterned numerous colours that resemble stained glass. His Koukaku is a set of two viciously long blades that wrap along his arm ending just underneath his palm, giving his arm the appearance of a tattooed spiral of stained glass. The Koukaku is able to flex and spread, giving him a form of amour across his arms. Ishin is also able to extend the end of his Koukaku past his hand into wickedly sharp blades, often giving them jagged edges in order to rip and tear rather than slice.
Ishin’s Ukaku are a set of two large wings that are amorphous in the liquid state but when crystalized take the shape of something akin to a dragon. The liquid nature of the Kagune and his colouring gives it once more the appearance of stained glass. Ishin is able to use the solidified wings to great proficiency, sending blades of crystal at his target as he rushes in violently to attack. With some fresh food in him, Ishin’s wings can give him limited flight.
RC Type: Koukaku and Ukaku
Personality: Ishin is a calm and collected man, full of sarcasm and wit and born with a silver tongue. He always has a calm word for friends and a smart ass one liner for enemies. This attitude seems apt as the man that runs one of the Sanctuaries for Ghouls in District 8, under the guise of a night club called “Dark Nights”. This personality is flipped whilst hunting or fighting, under his mask he becomes diabolically savage and attempts to elicit as much pain as possible from his prey and any doves that are fool enough to walk past him.
Biography: Ishin was born in to the Ghoul world, thinking that what he was to be the norm and that humans were merely lower on the food chain to Ghouls. That’s how his parents decided to raise the children under their care. As Ishin grew, he came to realize that Ghouls were a new development and not the norm. Humans outnumbered his kind. Accepting this, he developed himself to pass as a human…not wishing to go the same way his parents had and become infamous binge eaters. His teenage years were fraught with the usual things shown in tv dramas, sitcoms and movies. First loves, first heart breaks, failing tests and passing classes. All this was added to the struggle of controlling his hunger and the urge to eat as he slept his way through highschool angst.
Out of highschool and in to college, Ishin used the inheritance he had from his parents that had passed a few years into highschool to set up his own business. A business he could use to help ghouls to hide from the doves and to give protection to the ghouls of Ward 8. He named this business Dark Nights and it became known for its ‘shock horror’ atmosphere for a nightclub. He used this to continue providing funds for his education.
Appearance: A young man of quite evidently foreign descent, Hisoka has yet to lose his youthful appearance, standing at around 5'8. He has very bushy eyebrows.
Name: Hisoka Araújo
Nicknames: N/A
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Rank: Rank 3 Ghoul Investigator
Quinque: N/A due to being a Rank 3 Investigator
Personality: It cannot be said that Hisoka hates ghouls, but he does view them simply as an enemy. He shows little to no remorse in his work, but he does not seem overly eager unlike some other young investigators. However, Hisoka seems to lack the concept of 'going easy' on an opponent, trying to fight until they are in his mind beaten - which usually involves broken limbs. Outside of his new work as a Ghoul Investigator, Hisoka is a peaceful youth who speaks in a kind if somewhat lazy tone. He goes above and beyond his calling as a 'junior' investigator, following the instructions of his superiors and then some in order to please them. In that sense he is an ideal subordinate, but his clumsy and slow streak outside of anything involving field work balances that out.
Biography: Born and raised in Tokyo, Hisoka is the son of a Brazillian jiu-jitsu instructor. Hisoka, being the son of a foreigner, was unfortunately the victim of bullying through out his time in regular schooling. Although rather vicious at times, Hisoka never once raised a fist in self defence on the word of his father. But why would his father of all people allow this to continue? It was not that he was not concerned for his son, no, he was concerned for the other children and their safety.
To say Hisoka is decent at fighting would be like saying a fish is decent at swimming, and Hisoka's father realised this early in his son's youth. Movements and techniques which would otherwise take weeks or months to get a completely functional grasp on were down to a T in only a days work with Hisoka. Perhaps his fathers greatest hubris was taking advantage of this seemingly eidetic muscle memory to teach the still young Hisoka joint locks, both dangerous and complex techniques within martial arts, long before the appropriate time. Pitting him against other children would have been anything but fair, especially with his personality.
Hisoka may have had a career in professional martial arts had life continued in that manner, but that is not the case. The truth is that Hisoka's father was a less than kosher man, involving himself in dodgy business in order to help sustain a living for his family. One facet of this underground life was connected to a ghoul labelled 'Marrow'. A dispute between Marrow and Hisoka's father soon found its self in their living room, Hisoka's father laying on the floor with a bloodied head and a 16 year old Hisoka seeing the whole incident.
The oddest thing, which even Hisoka realises, was that he did not panic, feel fear, or even sadness. There was only a weird serenity which came him over when Marrow moved towards him, ready to clean up the rest of the mess. What happened next felt like clockwork for Hisoka. Marrow's fist came shooting out towards the boy, but he was already on the move - the fist grazed Hisoka's cheek with enough force to rip the flesh, leaving a small wound which would scar, but he moved forward none the less. Step in with the right leg, impact shoulder with chest, clinch hands around the back, hook with the left leg around his calf and pull; a takedown which used the attackers punch to bring them to the ground. With Marrow in a position of weakness and clearly surprised, Hisoka took the opportunity to get him into the first lock which came to mind - the inescapable triangle choke, all within a second and a half.
Even ghouls can't survive without air and blood circulation, nor can they properly form their kagune in such a state.
Ten minutes passed before Hisoka let up on the hold, the ghoul having already gone limp and turned an odd colour in his constrictor-like hold minutes ago. It was only after the act that Hisoka felt the impact of what he had done, the adrenaline fading away to be replaced with a paralysing dread. A few hours after, the CCG found a teenager kneeling over the still bodies of two people - one being B-rating ghoul 'Marrow', more a criminal than a ghoul, who had evaded CCG investigators for months.
Despite being older, Hisoka was enrolled into the CCG academy, and then two years later promoted to Rank 3 Investigator by the Chairman himself. Although he lacks a Quinque, large amounts of practical experience and a reputation of a higher ranked investigator, Hisoka is undoubtedly a threat to ghouls short of those S-rating and above, a rare anomaly of a purely 'anti-ghoul' individual, talented in all fields so long as it pertains to ghouls. Outside of that...well. No one's perfect.
Hisoka's father, while still alive, has been in a comatose state since that night. For whatever reason Hisoka has not visited his father once. Who knows what went on between them.

Ghoul Mask: Her mask covers just the upper part of her face, leaving her mouth unobstructed. It is pink in design and rather simple too, with just a pair of white butterflies painted by the side to give it more distinction.
Name: Izumi Junpaku (Western order)
Nicknames: Hunter Spider.
Age: 18, despite appearances.
Gender: Female
Rank: S
Kagune: Coming out from just below her shoulder blade, Izumi's kagune resembles two extremely long and disgusting spider legs, with some joints through it that make it a lot more flexible than other kagunes. They can pierce through almost anything and can withstand any kind of frontal attack, as well as being usable as hooks of sorts to either grab something or unto something. However, attacking the joints will make them come breaking down.
RC Type: Koukaku
Personality: A hunter by all means, Izumi likes the thrill and emotion that comes together when hunting her prey to eat. She just can't get enough of it, the emotion of pusuing her food across alleys, the imminent danger of Doves appearing, the danger of other ghouls also appearing. It is just incredibly fun, in fact, she just hunts her food for the fun of it. Of course, she doesn't behave in the same feral, predatory way during the day, neither when talking to others. When talking to other people, the thought of her being a ferocious and dangerous ghoul wouldn't even go near your head. Izumi is as girly as they come, and loves to talk about fashion and is very easy to approach. People during high school called her an idol, because of how sociable she was and how she seemed to excel in most areas. The perfect role model for anyone.
However, with someone she doesn't like, she won't hesitate to insult them and even threaten them, all in the same girlish tone she usually talks in. Also, she is an incredible actor, being able to cry without major provocation and maintain an smile even when it seems impossible.
Biography: Since she was little, Izumi was taught that in this ruthless world, the best she could do was pretend. Pretend that she was human, pretend that she liked others, pretend that doves weren't a real threat, pretend that her parents loved her, and that she loved them back, pretend that they were the perfect family. Always pretend. Her parents pretended to care, and Izumi pretended not to need any parental love. Instead, she tried to garner enough manservants around her to shower her with attention, the attention she didn't get from her parents. Of course, she was satisfied like that, and her parents were too into each other to even care what their daughter was doing.
One day, though, in her way back home, she returned to an abandoned house. Her parents were the kind that liked bathing in the blood of their enemies while doing... other things. To say they attracted attention to them would be a huge understatement. A single note was left for her. 'Have to bail, house is yours.' Izumi lost her source of food and also the guys who paid for the bills, but somehow, she was unusually calm about it. That night was the first she went out in search of food by herself, and it was the first time in her life she ever felt really alive. Since then, she has been hunting everyday, in order to feel even more excited. She has dodged, even killed doves in her endeavors, but it hasn't stopped her. Still, she sometimes gets more than enough for her and is actually generous enough to give some to the restaurant that also serves as a sanctuary for ghouls.
Appearance:
A flat chested, short haired, well groomed woman who fits right in with the men in the office. Although no need, she wears contacts as sorta a protective measure. She keeps her appearance regardless of the occasion, only changing her attire to full nudity when it's time to sleep. Noticeable features include a splatch of scar-tissue on her left forearm, and clothes plagued with fur (as much as she tries to clean it, it never goes away).
Name: Yoko Hikari
Nicknames: //
Age: 24
Gender: female
Rank: 2
Quinque: A shoulder turret that covers her arm and comes to a sharp point over her hand.
Personality: Upbeat, friendly, and a bit too positive. Her life motto is "C'est la vie" and she takes that to its fullest. She has no problem with ghouls, nor does she harbor the same feelings some of her fellow investigators may or may not hold to. She feels ghouls have as much right to life as humans so-long-as they follow the rules. She doesn't, however, flaunt her viewpoint onto her peers.
Biography: Grew up in an area plagued by ravenous monsters who, as a child, thought they were more misunderstood more than anything. One night, a ghoul attacked her mother, father, and two sisters; killing the parents and getting teeth deep into young Yoko's arm before CCG showed and put it down. The eldest sister at the time, Namari Hikari age 20, became head of the household until all three eventually grew up and moved out. Somewhere along here, Yoko got herself a baby red panda who she named Riichi. Namari became a professor at a university while her other sister entered the academy two years earlier than Yoko and was killed on the job before Yoko could join her.
Name: Matsuoka Yuuka
Nicknames: Cannibal Corpse
Age: 35
Gender: Female
Rank: Special Investigator
Yuuka is a special case. Like some high-ranking Investigators like Kureo Mado, she possesses and uses multiple Quinque in battle. What makes her special is how she uses them. After a long career of throwing herself recklessly into battle against high-ranking Ghouls with little concern to her own life, Yuuka has lost a lot of things. Her arms, a segment of her jaw and a few of her teeth, the left half of her face, and everything below the waist. To compensate for this, she uses specially-made Quinque as replacement limbs. Appearing as prosthetics when not in use, she carries them literally on her person at all times instead of in a bag or suitcase, allowing her to blend in more naturally in areas where there are Ghouls. They include:
-Right Arm "Migi" (Rinkaku): A tail-like appendage with many leg-like cilia that ends in a poisonous pincer like an insect. The tail's appearance most strongly resembles the spider-tailed horned viper, and it can expand and contract, giving her arm a longer range of movement (at the cost of opposable thumbs while in use). Pictured here in its inert form.-Left Arm "Hidari" (Koukaku): A giant, club-like arm that's in gross misproportion to the rest of her body. It can be used to shield her and has a powerful punch, and when cocked back it can be fired like a pile-driver in an attack with a slow windup but a devastating finisher, capable of obliterating cars and mortally wounding most Ghouls.
-Lower Body "Hara" (Bikaku): Her legs have been harvested from a single Ghoul and take the form of raptor-like insectoid legs that have a powerful kick and can run and jump at incredible speeds. Her maximum jumping height is 240 meters and she can run at 370 kilometres per hour, roughly one-third of mach speed and faster than the human eye can follow. This allows her to keep up with the fastest S and SS-rank Ghouls without an Arata, pursue prey across the city and over extreme vertical obstacles, and even dodge bullets to some limited capacity, much like A and S-rank Ghouls. Pictured here in their inert form.-Face "Me" (Ukaku): A flesh-like covering that hides the left half of her face that was clawed off by a Ghoul, it is easily mistakable for a burn mark, but when it unfolds it becomes six small, featherlike wings capable of firing crystallized Rc cell bullets at high-velocity. Or in other words, a Quinque gun. Like ukaku Ghouls, it has limited stamina and thus limited ammunition, although its exhaustion affects Yuuka little. Therefore she uses it sparingly as a trump card when backed into a corner.
Due to the way her prosthetics are designed (and due to the way prosthetics work in general), her nerves must directly interact with the Rc cells in her new limbs in order to control them, meaning she is directly interfacing with Ghoul flesh when using her Quinque. The more of her limbs' powers she uses, the more violent and irrational she becomes, attacking friend and foe without thinking and even losing control of her limbs. The longer and/or harder she fights, the more feral and Ghoul-like she becomes. Whether this is her limbs having an effect on her body and mind or just the result of adrenaline mixing with painkillers and antidepressants is unclear.
Gentle and matronly, with hints of a bottle fairy, Yuuka occupies a curious space between big sister and team mom. She genuinely cares for her subordinates, and doesn't seem to mind that other investigators mock and fear her. Overall she's a hard-working and kind-hearted person who likes to have fun with her subordinates, but when in battle her personality changes completely. She has developed an acute bloodlust towards Ghouls and will attack them viciously without stopping, often continuing long after they are dead. Her behavior towards Ghouls can only be called sadistic and uncaring, thinking little of human traits like civility and empathy and reverting to primal, animalistic fight or flight mechanisms. She doesn't understand what's wrong with this, as she thinks of Ghouls as bestial sub-humans who are not merely evil but monstrous in their thinking and who must be destroyed, like putting down a feral animal. To her, one species must prevail as the rules of nature dictate, so there is nothing wrong with exterminating Ghouls with extreme prejudice.
Yuuka graduated from the CCG Academy at age 20, and was immediately partnered with the man she would later marry, 1st-class Investigator Matsuoka Kenji. The two developed an extremely close bond, and soon began dating. Before long, they were married, with a child on the way. Yuuka worked hard for the sake of her husband and her newly born child, rising through the ranks quickly to become a 1st-class Investigator just like her husband. Together, they took down a record-breaking number of Ghouls, going undefeated and suffering minimal losses for three straight years. That winning streak finally came to an end during a standoff with an S-class Ghoul that crippled Kenji at the cost of its own life. Battered and broken, the victorious couple were separated after Kenji was demoted due to his injury, which prevented him from working in the field. It was this separation that ultimately proved fatal. The CCG had suspected the Ghoul they'd taken down had actually been part of a much larger gang, perhaps even an organization like Aogiri Tree, and in the end they were right. Other members of the group caught Kenji off-hours and without his Quinque, and tortured him for hours before Yuuka and the CCG managed to rescue him. By that time he was mortally wounded and close to dead, a barely recognizable lump of meat, but he still had enough life left in him to warn his grieving wife about the danger that was still to come. He'd overheard some of the Ghouls talking about searching their house. Concerned for their child's safety, Yuuka rushed home, only to be met with the gruesome sight of a Ghoul devouring her three year old son in much the same way a human would dig into a cut of veal. It was this that finally made Yuuka snap. She attacked the Ghoul, breaking all of his limbs and slowly torturing him to death until the CCG finally arrived at the house and restrained her. Since then she has become an even higher-ranking investigator, and years of throwing herself near-suicidally into fights with Ghouls has begun to show. She has lost her arms, parts of her face, and the entire lower half of her body. In an unorthodox decision, she has decided to replace each of her missing parts with Quinque collected from Ghouls she's killed, making her a truly unique Ghoul-killing machine. Recently she's been partnered with the newbie investigator Hisoka.
Because of her limbs and the disturbing way she fights, other investigators fear and loathe her and refer to her by her Ghoul-given nickname "Cannibal Corpse" behind her back. While the CCG's best physicians assure her that mingling her flesh with that of a Ghoul in such a minimally invasive way won't result in the kind of hybridization that creates one-eyed Ghouls and that this increasingly violent behavior is all in her head, it has done little to dissuade other investigators from mocking and belittling her as a race traitor and a half-breed. Her nickname, "Cannibal Corpse", is a combination name that refers to how she obsessively cannibalizes Ghouls so she can make new Quinque, and how she should by all rights be a corpse after all the wounds she's received. Hence "Cannibal Corpse", a half-dead scavenger who's more Ghoul than human.
Name: Coco
Nickname: (I dunno)
Age: 19
Goul Mask: A chocolate brown heart shaped eye-patch, over his left eye.
Rank: A
Kagune: Two large black wings. They are sharp and form the shape of a moths wings. The wings are adapt for sharp speed and shooting razor sharp thorns, not to mention graceful flying.
RC Type: Ukaku
Gender: Male
Personality: Coco is really selfish but has a complex on how he looks. Often acting like a Tsundere to anybody he encounters, he prefers to humiliate, taunt and bully with insults the people he meets for fun, friend or foe. Coco takes great pride in dressing and acting female, to the extent where he only feeds upon 'cute' boys. To try assimilate with humans he forces himself to eat sweet cakes, which he truthfully hates with a deep passion. He doesn't particularly like to fight, but he is reasonably good at it. He prefers to stalk, pin down and eat.
Biography: There isn't much to tell, as far as Coco could remember, he just appeared in Osaka and was raised there for most of his life. He was actually raised by gouls. Trained by gouls. And, supposedly, loved? If you could call it that.
A lot of the gouls he stuck around were cruel, and picked on him, so he would crush their skulls or at least make them see the light at the end of the tunnel. The humans wouldn't accept him ether so he decided to change his appearance to seem more appealing.
In doing so, he accomplished his mission, but blended in with the humans a little too well, to the point where he had to feed in secret, unlike before where they would randomly pick and chew a victim, he selected them based on looks, followed them home during the night... Pinned them against a wall and left a bloody mess.
The reason for Coco's movement to Tokyo was to find a specific boy that he had chased from Oasaka. His boyfriend, his special friend. "He's mine, well he doesn't know it yet, but he will"
Height: 1.76m
Weight: 60 kg
Build: Though he isn't too muscular for an investigator, he's quite nimble and acrobatic.
Name: Luca Langley
Nicknames: Black Lance
Age: 19
Gender: Male
Rank: Rank 2
Quinque: [Rank A Bikaku Type - Blind] A black, long spear with an edge that reaches back to the grip, forming a guard at the upper point.
Personality: The best way to describe how Luca views the ghouls is with a certain degree of pity and disgust. Unlike many of his colleagues, he doesn't really hate all ghouls; though of course, there are certain ones that he does despise. When he speaks to them, be it during a fight or outside, he almost always acts the same way he always does: timid and kind, though this attitude hardly reflects on his fighting style.
Biography: Luca was born to a poor family that could hardly make a living, though they were rather happy. The first decade of his life was rather simple. He didn't do much other than some pickpocketing and running around. At the time Luca had turned 10, a couple of men in suits had arrived to their broken down home instead of his parents, leading him out to another home with dozens of other children. Not really knowing what was going on, the boy was told that his parents were killed at the factory they worked at by a rampaging ghoul. Of course, he felt rage and seeked for revenge at that young age. It had been two years before he was actually allowed to go to the CCG academy, by which time he'd already decided that the notion of vengeance was rather idiotic. Once in the academy, he was still determined to graduate successfully, and he did so. At 18, he became a full-fledged investigator, given his Rank 2 title like all graduates and a quinque. By the next year, he was able to kill six C ranks, two B ranks and one A rank, whose kagune he used to make his current quinque 'blind'.
Skill:
-Impressive skill with spear
-Self taught fighting style based on light-footed movement and learned
Ghoul
Appearance:
Ghoul Mask: The masks that appear in the images
Name: Edward Thawes
Nicknames: Banshee, Grinning Ghoul
Age: 18
Gender: Male
Rank: [A as Banshee, S~ as Grinning Ghoul]
RC type: Ukaku
Kagune: Like in the first image, the ukaku looks like a thick, liquid wing that flutters in the air. Its roots are made of white crystallized bases with thorns sticking out. He can shoot out needle shaped projectiles by solidifying the ukaku into a crystallized kagune, and while this mode loses the kagune's mobility, it's harder. When it's in its crystallized form, two smaller wings that are currently too short to be useful stick out from beneath the base of the upper wings. As Edward grows stronger, the solidified form can be better moulded and the liquid form grows exponentially. The kagune expands from 8 kakuhou, each wing from one and the spikes from others.
Personality: As a member of the human community, Edward is an enthusiastic and outgoing highschool student who is loyal to his friends. As a ghoul, he's a little different. He can be quite merciless during his biweekly hunt, revealed by the usually present maniacal smile he has while he feeds. He prefers to kill quickly as to mainly not cause the victim much pain. This habit stuck later on due to his growing sympathy for certain humans.
Biography: Edward lived his entire life in the 8th district with only his father for as long as he could remember. The man was a ghoul that was never encountered by the CCG and a well-respected psychiatrist among the humans. During Edward's younger years, his father only brought him food, not letting the boy hunt for himself. After he started his first year at Kusime Institute, Edward started walking to school. Once every few weeks, he'd start to hunt, sometimes even fighting some ghouls to steal their meals or even have them as his dinner. This habit was put to a stop when his father learned. Although he was allowed to continue hunting on his own, he wasn't allowed to try and steal from other ghouls.
At the age of 16, Edward started looking for a side job upon his father's request so that he could 'learn how to be responsible'. One place he was looking into for work was Meat, Meat, MEAT!, where he simply worked as a cook, and a rather good one for a ghoul. Even if the food disgusted him, he could follow and sometimes alter the recipes quite well. From time to time, he would bring some human meat for the ghouls, packaged. During his hunt for ghouls that come to Meat Meat MEAT!, he uses a cloak and hood that covers the upper body and the upper face and a half-gas mask that only covers the lower face, using his more fluid kagune form that wraps around his neck loosely once.
When hunting for himself, he wears a mask of his own design (on paper) that looks like a smiling void face without a mouth. As this ghoul, he uses the crystallized form.
As both, he has had few encounters with doves so both have different ranks in their documents.
"I'm surprised I've lived this long, lmao."
Ghoul Mask:
Nono wears a simple Noh mask.
Name:
Nonozumi Miko
Nicknames:
Nono, "Noh Mask"
Age:
Twenty
Gender:
Male
Rank:
A
Kagune:
Shaped like a scorpion's tail, its design is almost as bland and forgettable as Nonozumi without his mask. The only difference to an actual scorpion's tail is it's ability to stretch out several meters and retract back to a smaller size, as well as the fact that it has three "stingers" one located a knock under the one at the standard scorpion spot, an another one between those, but on the other side. Uniquely, Nono releases a stinging poison with his stingers, creating a dull sensation for a short period of time. Sort of that feeling you get when you go to the dentists, with the same half to full hour of effect as well as the numb sensation. You can still swing the affected area around, but you just can't feel whatever you're doing.
RC Type:
Bikaku
Personality:
Nono is quiet and joking all at once, the very sort of average person that would go unnoticed. He practiced this quite a bit, which makes killing out in the open that much more easy- something that Nono doesn't do, but has toyed with the idea of. He's the type of guy that would seem quite dull to talk to in real life but says stupid stuff (like "omg" or "lmao"- he says that in real life that's how stupid he is), and would be the type to eagerly make cute emoticons at the end of his text messages. o w o )b He doesn't text humans in school though, just ghouls and people from the internet.
Biography:
He goes to the university and studies literature, just for the sake of studying. He doesn't make a large group of friends and is easily forgettable, thus making his other life that much easier. He made the mistake of trying to hunt CCG Doves without knowing what they actually were and received a killer scar on his back, as well as a rep as the "Noh Mask".
"Hey daddy, why don't we play some games?"
Ghoul Mask:
Her mask is actually a complete opposite of what is pictured above, covering the top half of her face rather than the lower half. Pictured as so, it features a plain white mask cut with a shape around her mouth, decorated with a crudely drawn eye.
Name:
Totsuka Chou
Nicknames:
N/A
Age:
Seventeen
Gender:
Female
Rank:
N/A
Kagune:
Chou's Kagune spreads out and is patterned beautifully, almost so that it reminds many of butterflies. She, and hardcore butterfly fanatics, know full well however that its pattern is a moth's, and while she has a bit of a complex about it, she doesn't complain about how it protects her. Able to shield her by covering over her body or attack by releasing shards that come out in groups (usually of six to ten, but when Chou's just letting loose, it kinda doesn't matter). As versatile as it sounds though, it comes with a few openings in between attacks, not to mention in addition to her own childish inexperience. Despite being wings, she cannot fly with them, though manages to convince otherwise with her graceful leaps able speed.
RC Type:
Ukaku
Personality:
Chou behind the mask is very docile and flirtatious, quick to show a sliver of her pale skin or "accidentally" bump herself against unsuspecting victims. As she kills, however, there's a noticeable switch, the most important being her absolute silence and focus. She hunts her meals in the lower red district of the city, using charms she learned from watching other women to seduce men into her hideout. A meticulous eater, she makes sure to clean to the bone, meaning she doesn't feed often as she often has a meal waiting at home. One could say that Chou lives for the sake of living, eat for the sake of eating, sleep for the sake of sleeping. She tries not to leave her hideout during the day often, having lived this long without learning much about humans and unsure about how well she would fit in.
Biography:
The basics of Chou's upbringing is that she was born with two other sisters in a trio, each of them receiving the same traits from dainty features to large wings. They survived as their father- who wasn't necessarily their father, simply a man who found them in a box- hunted food, giving to them the bare minimum. It was from these small scraps that Chou learned how to savour things to the bone, enjoying her small piece as her sisters planned larger, fighting their father to receive more.
Stuff happened, and one of the triplets disappeared, the father not saying a thing about it and continuing to feed them their scraps. On the second month, Chou's sister was convinced what they were eating was not human, and was in fact their sister. Their stomachs were a mess that night, but Chou didn't vomit, savouring whatever kept her alive, even if it was her sister.
Two nights after the revelation, her sister woke her up to run away.
The two barely made it a few blocks down before meeting with another ghoul. They defeated him, but at a cost, Chou's sister having lost her entire left side. Though Chou wanted to help her live, her sister confessed she had always hated pain and asked of Chou the same funeral they had given their other sister. And so, that was how Chou ate the other triplets.
She made sure to do with her sister as her other meals and savour her, at the end finally reaching the cleanest she could make of her bones, and crying about how awful it was. She moved out of the nook in the alley she had made her home in, making her way from nook to nook to nook, moving always to prevent herself from vomiting her sisters out. She lasted a month before hunger overwhelmed her, and she ate a girl walking in the late streets.
It was from this that Chou started her pattern of slow eating and hiding, her late night frequenting introducing her to the power of prostitution, and considering she preferred the taste of men moreso than women anyways, she used that as her means of ware. Spending most of her time indoors, Chou started a habit of carving her bone collection into kitchen utensils, selling them to drunkards in the night to get them off her hands. While she still has a large collection, she eats meagerly enough for the CCG to take notice.

RC Type: Koukaku
Personality: Akurai is caring and protective of the people around him. He is usually upbeat and very talkative, but as any teenager he can have a moodswing envy now and then.
Biography:
Akurai was left by his real parents as a child and was raised by a all human family, which had it ups and downs. As he was just left their doorstep the family had no idea he was a ghoul, they just took him as they had been wanting a child for the longest time and was not about to start asking questions.
However soon they noticed their sons strange eating habits or lack there off as he did not eat or drink anything they tried to feed him. It wasn't before he sank his teeth into his mother’s shoulder they knew what they had really taken in, but by that time it was too late to turn back and they just found ways to feed his hunger. The dad was a coroner had easy access to food for his kid, but the barrier to steal flesh from the dead was a hard one to break and it wasn't until the kid barely managed to move he crossed it and from that day on it just became easier.
Akurai grew up happy as can be and his family loved him with all their heart, it was just a bit hard to explain everything that happened to him as he grew older. Like how unlike others he could only eat human flesh, how nobody could know he was eating it and what in the world the two ribbons that grew out of his back were. However they found a way, a way that would lead to Akurai meeting his first ghoul. The ghoul taught Akurai everything he would need to know about being a ghoul and how to control his urges, all in trade for some flesh provided by Akurai’s dad.
Currently Akurai still lives at home with his “parents” and has been shielded from the world around him, both the human and the ghoul kind.
Other: He was homeschooled and never went to high school or college, but he has still been out in the world. He does knows the people he lives with isn't his real family, but to him they are as real as any. He has never had to hunt so he hasn't faced the harsh reality that someday he will need to take a life.
Ghoul Mask:
Name: Bakura Zatachi
Nicknames: World Eater
Age: 22
Gender: Male
Rank: S
Kagune: Bakura's Kagune generally takes the shape of 8 harpoon like appendages, with serrated blades that form half way until the end, that come out around the lower area of his back. The color of the appendges is a hue of orange to red with a mixture of purple as well. Bakura is also capable of fusing the appendages to form different shapes, such as claws and etc. Bakura's unique skill with his Kagune is the ability to fuse to fuse a pair of the appendges into 4, thicker appendages that now form heads with only a pair of razor sharp teeth. These heads each usually have a mind of their own when his Kakugan is not activated but move to his whim when it is. He is also capable of feeding through these heads, rather than having to take off his mask.
RC Type: Rinkaku
Personality: Bakura generally comes off a cold and emotionless person, usually shown with his nearly dead eyes and cold attitude. Bakura usually puts up a gentle front with people who he doesn't hate, but yet he still keeps the dead, cold eyes even with the kind attitude. His views on life are rather bleak and he believes only through strength could you change anything.
Biography: Bakura was born and mostly raised in the 6th Ward, being taught how to hunt and fight by his intimidating mother and how to blend in from his gentle father. However, he much preferred spending time with his mother rather than his father. He respected her more than his own father as a child. Eventually, his parents were hunted down by Doves, but he shedded no tears. The time spent with his mother toughened him in order to deal with death. She engraved the saying into his brain "Hunters are never immune to being hunted"
As time passed, Bakura grew stronger and eventually became the leader of the 6th Ward as the Doves were preoccupied. He gained the nickname Stinger due to his stinger looking Kagune. But his reign was cut short when a Special Investigator and his associate attacked him in broad daylight and dealt major damage. They believed he had died, however he miraculously managed to survive thanks to the help of Meat, Meat, MEAT! From then on, he began to work at the store during day while working his own schedule during the night under a new alias, World Eater, due to his new ability.
Ghoul Mask: N/A

Kagune: Virtually a flying bison's tail that flops a foot over his head, stopping just above eye level.
RC Type: Bikaku
Personality: A very sweet, positive, honorable type guy.... unless you're a ghoul that's about to become lunch. A bit twisted, but a genius that understands what it takes to reach higher levels of power. He doesn't want to waste his time eating humans, but will settle a bite or two or sip of coffee if it gets him closer to his true food.
Biography: Grew up in a ghoul family that cherished human life to the best of their ability, only eating when necessary and only on those who have passed, or whose condition was terminal. His family focused entirely on education for him. If he wasn't in school, he was drilled to study everything he knew until he passed his entrance exams to the university. Here, he took a course in biology that talked about ghouls, their increase of their Rc factor, and how it was theorized that the cannibals used the increased boost of Rc to quickly gather greater strength faster.
It was there that his education came to an end. The following week on the news, a report came stating the sad, bloody disappearance of the friendly Mr. and Mrs. Hadwin who actually turned out to be ghouls. No word as to what has happened to their now missing son, whose blood was not at the scene.
Ghoul Mask: Her mask is a white fox mask, painted with red accents.

Mist people who know her enjoy the fact that she keeps to herself when she knows that you don't want yo talk instead of trying to talk to you. But deep underneath she is a sadist. She loves the feel of crushing bone, seeing blood spill.

Name: Saito Yuuma
Nicknames: None at the moment, as he's been off-duty for a year.
Appearance Description:
Yuuma stands fairly tall at 182cm, and is lean, weighing just over 70kg. By Ghoul Investigator standards, however, he's not the most intimidating. He has black hair and light-brown, almost reddish eyes. He usually dresses as pictured, forgoing any sort of overcoat unless the weather really calls for it. Light-pink burn scars cover his right arm and shoulder, ending on the lower-right portion of his jaw. He isn't very conscious of them and makes no attempt to cover up; in fact, he could even be considered prideful of them, as they are proof of his greatest achievement.
Age: 21
Gender: Male
Rank: Rank 2 Ghoul Investigator
The Koukaku-type Homewrecker takes the shape of a giant axe. One side of the head is blunt, and the other is sharp, allowing for either smashing or slicing, as Yuuma sees fit. Both the handle and head can grow and shrink, giving it versatility, and it can block attacks effectively. It feels light to the user, making it possible to wield, while still being capable of doing plenty of damage.
Looks something like this, without the chains and spiked blade-edge:
Yuuma is a sharp, quick-thinking man. He is always observing and noting his surroundings, something he has done his entire life. He's calm and easy-going when off-duty, happy to keep co-workers company and make conversation. On-duty, however, he prefers efficiency -- everything he says is simple and to the point. He always has his job in mind, and everything he does is done to finish that job as quickly and perfectly as he can. Nothing is wasted, neither time nor energy.
He has no hatred for ghouls as a species; he simply views them as humans who have the capability to be more dangerous and destructive than your average Joe. He does, however, have a bad habit of categorizing things as either 'good' or 'bad' -- rarely is there a middle ground. When he decides someone is evil, he will go to extreme lengths to kill them, to the point where he often no longer seems sane. Likewise, he does everything he can to protect those he deems 'good.' His criteria for what makes someone 'good' or 'bad' tend to be very loose, and highly affected by his emotional state, but most often boils down to: hurting innocent people, human or ghoul, lands you on his bad side.
Yuuma doesn't enjoy fighting and killing, he simply sees it as a necessity.
Like any other child, Yuuma was taught to fear ghouls. All the adults did, so he should too. That belief was challenged one night, when he was seven years old.
A frenzied ghoul broke into his home, killing both his parents. The traumatized boy could only stare as he saw the ghoul pulling his father and mother apart, before making his way over to Yuuma, kagune out and ready to strike. Before that could happen, however, a second ghoul entered the picture, and attacked the first. After a short struggle, the frenzied ghoul was dead. The man who had saved Yuuma looked around, and realized that the boy had lost his parents. He picked up the unmoving boy gently, deciding to unofficially adopt him.
It took a while for Yuuma to recover from that night, but eventually he did, and greatly warmed up to his adoptive father, who simply went by the name Jun. Jun raised Yuuma as best as he could, getting him to go to school and just generally live a normal, human life. he also taught the young boy about ghouls, and how a lot of them weren't evil monsters like the general public believed. The most important thing Jun passed down to Yuuma was his sense of justice. Jun spent most of his time being a vigilante, killing problematic ghouls and humans alike, always doing his best to protect those who did no wrong.
The CCG eventually, inevitably, caught up to him. Yuuma was 12, hanging out in his room, when he heard the loud commotion downstairs. Running down, he saw Jun dead at the feet of two Ghoul Investigators. At that moment, Yuuma hated humans, more than he had ever hated ghouls. They had killed a man who had done nothing but devote his life to keeping innocents safe.
The investigators would have killed Yuuma, too, had one not noticed that he wasn't a ghoul in time. From there, he was considered a victim, someone who had been held captive by Jun, and was promptly enrolled into the Academy.
During his years there, he grew into his own and shined. He vowed to continue Jun's work, deciding to become as strong as he could to eliminate all the evil in the world. Always the top of his class, he showed great promise, being extremely resourceful, analytical, and efficient. He graduated at 18 and was given the title of Rank 2 Investigator.
His very first assignment - a B rank ghoul who worked for another, more important ghoul that the CCG was lacking information on - gave a perfect example of the extreme lengths he'd go to. Simply put, to get closer to the ghoul, Yuuma ate human meat with no hesitation; it was an act that bought him just enough time to capture and extract information from the ghoul, before putting a bullet in his head.
During his first two years of service, Yuuma's track record was golden. Every job he had been assigned had been completed, with minimal casualties. He had received his first Quinque, and learnt to wield it well. He was known to disobey orders somewhat regularly, due to his own moral compass, much to the chagrin of his partner, Kazushi, but it always seemed to work out, meaning Yuuma only ever received slaps on the wrist.
He didn't like his partner, the leader of the duo, at all. The man was malicious, and loved killing any ghoul he came across. After seeing him cut down a child ghoul, Yuuma resolved to kill him.
The opportunity presented itself one fateful night.
The assignment was a fairly simple one, and very reminiscent of his first job: the duo were to track down and capture a rank A ghoul, who was part of a small, troublesome gang lead by an S-rank. The goal was to get information on the S rank.
The search lead them to an out-of-the way house, which appeared empty at first. It was quickly revealed to be an ambush, with all six members of the gang in question present. It should have been a slaughter -- 5 A-ranked ghouls and an S-rank, up against only two investigators, with the element of surprise on their side.
And as it turned out, it was exactly that: a slaughter. Having mapped out the entire house and everything in it in the short time he had walked around inside it, Yuuma developed a plan. He pick-pocketed Kazushi, taking the mans oft-used lighter, and kicked him into the ghouls' clutches, buying himself extra time. He scrambled through the kitchen, ripping a piece of paper off the fridge as he ran by it. He made his way down the hall, three of the ghouls chasing him after him, climbing over one another in a frenzy. He barreled into the house's side-garage, lighting the paper on fire and dropping it near the door. Scooping up two plastic gasoline cans, he tossed them hard at the walls beside the paper, causing them to burst and splash their contents everywhere. The fire immediately caught, and began spreading quickly thanks to how much fuel it had.
The ghouls leaped through the fire, kagune's out, ready to tear Yuuma apart. The young man did everything he could to bide his time -- he quickly shot off every bullet in his clip, and then brought down shelves and junk between him and his enemies. The blaze grew and grew, the heat and smoke making everyone's lives harder. All the while, Yuuma eyed the stack of propane tanks in the corner, willing them to explode from the heat.
And explode they did, spectacularly. After the first one went off, the rest quickly followed. Intense heat and pain hit Yuuma's right side, and a moment later the entire building started coming down. The young man was lucky; the blast knocked him back, sending him through the wall as it collapsed, out into the cold winter air. He scrambled back, unable to stop himself from groaning in pain. He realized with a little sadness that he had dropped his Quinque, which was now certainly destroyed.
His ordeal wasn't quite over yet. The S-ranked ghoul crawled out of the rubble, holding and biting into a charred arm. He was in far worse shape than Yuuma was, but the investigator knew he wouldn't be like that for long. If he was allowed a few moments to eat the arm, he'd certainly be well enough to kill.
So Yuuma did the only thing he could think of. He forced himself up and charged, jumping on the surprised ghoul and pinning him to the ground, raining violent blows down on his face. A weakened version of the ghouls kagune emerged, quickly striking at Yuuma. Yuuma reacted, knocking it downwards, causing it to pierce into the lower-left half of his stomach -- it hurt, but was far better than taking it in the chest. Driven by pain and adrenaline, Yuuma grabbed a nearby splintered piece of wood, and viciously drove it into the weak ghoul over and over. The kagune eventually receded out of Yuuma's stomach, and the exhausted boy realized his target was dead -- along with everyone else who had been in the building. He passed out right there, filled with pride and satisfaction that he'd been able to remove so much evil from existence in one night, no matter how lucky he had gotten.
When he woke up he was in a hospital, burns covering the entire outside of his right arm, all the way up his neck and ending just on the bottom right of his jaw. This would leave a noticeable scar.
He spent the next year recovering from his injuries and getting back into shape, while enjoying his small amount of new-found fame for single-handedly killing the gang of ghouls. He's finally been cleared for active-duty, and has received his new Quinque, Homewrecker, created from the S-ranked he killed. Now his goal is to get promoted, so he can go after more dangerous ghouls.
Shina is by all intents and purposes a strong woman. She is what has been described as "beefy as hell" by other investigators, and by extension not the lightest or thinnest woman. Virtually always wearing an eyepatch and having her entire arms covered in shallow scars make a very veteran-y expression and fittingly, she radiates an aura of authority from every pore.
Quinque: (Only the weapon, not the crazy chick wielding it, duh!)
"Misery", a giant spiked sword similar to a grater in its functionality. It was once a Koukaku-style Kagune and retains the former attributes of being extremely heavy, slow and devastating. Its surface appears in a metallic shine as is typical for Koukaku-Kagunes but is also stained with the blood of countless ghouls and convicted humans, complementing the already horrific look of the weapon. The appearance of the weapon is that of a giant, clunky greatsword with numberless rough spiked extensions on both broad sides of the edge. These are often called "teeth" and turn every single slashing motion into a brutal cut that can easily ravage most of a humanoid body beyond recognition, be it human or ghoul. Furthermore, the user can utilize the broad side to smack a victim, likely breaking numerous bones or weaker kagunes with one impact, impaling and scraping off skin of the victim with the teeth.
The major application of this weapon is to overpower an enemy, as many stronger ghouls tend to underestimate the force of impact such a weapon can have in the hands of a mere human. Misery is exceptionally solid and could probably pulverize a tank with very few strikes, taking barely a scratch from it. Needless to say, Shina has to utilize the full extend of her physical power to use the weapon, despite it being made lighter than the original Kagune by modifications to the RC-structure. Obviously, its weight renders the weapon near useless against foes that specialize in evasion rather than defense, but even those kinds of ghouls have eaten a surprising follow-up attack every once in a while.
A special functionality of the Quinque that is mostly used as Morizumis trump card is the whip-blade form, which splits the sword into four pieces connected by a crimson colored, flexible and thick wire. The wire itself is harmless, but this form gives the four giant chunks of hurt deceptively high range, a boost in speed and makes them harder to predict.
She still owns the old, nameless Quinque she used before Misery was made, but hasn't used it since. It roughly resembles the shape of a telescopic baton. While lacking piercing properties, the weapon excels at breaking the opponents guard, swatting away a defensively held Kagune to open up for the follow-up attack of more offensively oriented partners, or cracking porous and structurally weak Kagunes so they can be destroyed by a piercing type of Quinque.
Personality: Shina can essentially be seen in three different, separate states of mind. Those are, contrary to rumors in the CCG, not the result of a mental disorder. They are her conscious way of coping with the job as opposed to split personalities! If someone asks her about it, she usually just shrugs with an unphased expression.
The first personality is the most commonly known one, that of a dutiful and exact investigator. The kind of person who pins you on every word you say, makes sure that everyone is following the rules and doesn't tolerate exceptions. People revolting against regulations are confronted, warned and eventually threatened into submission, as no human has yet managed to keep their cool when facing the brutal Quinque Misery. Towards ghouls, she acts merciless and mostly cold. She feels no joy in killing a helpless or weakened ghoul, but doesn't hesitate to do so if the mission requires it. If there is a part of her that believes in peaceful, 'innocent' ghouls, she manages to hide it well.
The second is a careless, fun-loving Shina that is seen only outside of the job. The young woman is living a somewhat carefree and relaxed life in her free time, essentially oblivious to the dangers and horrors of her daily occupation. Some people take their work home because they can't let go, Shina is the exact opposite. After a shift, she takes off her work clothing, heads into the shower room and comes out as a wholly different person, leaving the exemplary investigator in there. This whole persona is possibly a deception, to both hide her actual occupation as a Dove and act innocent or harmless to the people in her daily routine. Be it deception or repression, in this state of mind she appears forgetful about the existence of ghouls and often acts like they're nothing more than an urban legend.
The third Shina is unknown to most, as essentially only her partners have seen it. This is the most unsettling one and it only comes out if a ghoul proves to be a challenge for her. In this case, she will let go of her hesitations, restraints and the stiff workplace mindset to endulge in a ruthless duelling bloodlust. During these phases, she ecstatically enjoys the fight and throws herself into battle with reckless abandon, often surprising even hardy ghouls with her borderline insane demeanor. This is when she actually fights the best as she will utilize the momentum of her Quinque into wild spinning motions and follow-up attacks, but it comes at a cost. She will tunnel vision completely on her chosen victim and not stop chasing it down, ignorant to collateral damage, orders or her own health until the ghoul is either smashed into bloody mucus or manages to escape.
Those who have seen the third persona of hers swear that she's a demon hiding behind multiple layers of sheep's clothing. Generally this part of her is misunderstood, however. Though it might very well seem so, she is not ecstatic about killing ghouls. Instead, she enjoys hunting and fighting a worthy opponent too much for her own good. This part of her psyche surfaced the first time when she lost her eye. There is no doubt that one day, this 'passionate' part of hers will be her demise.
Biography:
Shina Morizumi, like countless others, lost most of her family to ghouls. However, she only realized it after working for the CCG already.
As the child of an averagely wealthy family, Shina lost both parents and her sister when she was no more than three years old. She witnessed a seemingly friendly man knock on their door, enter the house and lull the family in with false friendlyness before eating them in front of the childs eyes. The man left the toddler until last, to be the 'cherry on top' so to say, but the CCG caught up with him and drove him out of the house before he could finish his gruesome meal. Shina was too young to understand what was really happening, luckily. She grew up as the adoptive child of a woman already working for the CCG, being told that she was her aunt and that her parents were simply gone. Shina never felt the urge to inquire how exactly they died, subconsciously avoiding the truth that was already cemented in inaccessable memory.
Not realizing she was shoehorned into attending CCG-Academy, she thought it was the best thing in the world. It had exciting training involved, was about hunting and fighting monsters with amazing weaponry and resulted in doing something 'good' for the world, in her opinion. The girl wasn't the brightest crayon in the box, but she barely graduated thanks to her exceptional bodily fitness and motivation. To think that she'd end up being the stiff, rule-abiding role model investigator one day would have sounded like a joke to her, at that time.
But suddenly, things didn't seem so shiny anymore. The exemplary heroism she always had in mind was nowhere to be found on the actual battlefield. It was a gruesome, exhausting and outright unfair job where the 'good guys' were hopelessly inferior to those they were supposed to hunt. It was a cruel twist of fate when Shina had to see her friends from the academy die at her feet, and at first she blamed herself for all the death around her, both investigators and civilians, sometimes even ghouls. She fell into depression and trained harder, but never let her guard down. She survived where others didn't and eventually managed to kill her first low-ranking ghoul with nothing more than her very human reflexes and a handgun. A man named Ryoto, rank 1 investigator, noticed her impressive dedication and secretly began observing the rookie outgrow her training wheels. After her third takedown he notified his superiors and initiated her promotion, as such talent and commitment had to be supported. At first, Shina didn't even like the idea. Working in a two-man team was a lot more personal than working in a faceless group of many, and the self-preservation instinct in her realized that the CCG just painted a much larger target on her forehead. The notion of learning to use a Quinque on the other hand, evening out the odds in a one-on-one situation, appealed to the survivor. Ryoto volunteered to train her as his partner, and so Morizumi became what she was until very recently - a rank 2 investigator.
In order to widen the girls horizon and drive her away from the ego-trip that kept her alive until now, Ryoto ordered a special Quinque for her, its effectivity almost entirely based on teamwork. It came without surprise that Shina hated it. Being overly reliant on someone else was -in her book- a weakness, and after all the losses in her first year on duty made her reluctant to bond with the man who did so much to support her. While she adapted to the training the rank 1 had in mind for her and they became a potent team that could take on any target, it took almost two years for her to drop her guard around Ryoto and accept him as a friend and partner. That, however, made the following events only harder.
The two of them were out on a mission to catch an S-rank ghoul codenamed "Puppeteer". The creature was known to lure his victims into false safety and had done so with other investigators before. Furthermore, there were rumors about a small private fight club he held, but the nature true nature of this enterprise was unknown. After picking up numerous fake trails and wasting several weeks running after red herrings, the ghoul finally made a mistake that gave them a true lead to where this mysterious arena could be. Though at a remote warehouse supposedly being the place, they didn't find what they were looking for. After entering the compound silently, instead of a colosseum they found a half-eaten girl. Draped like a mockery on the investigators and painted like a laughing clown, but bleeding profoundly and barely having a pulse. Ryoto rushed in to help the young woman, despite Shinas expressed distrust about the whole situation. "She's going to die if we don't help her, goddamned Morizumi move!" was the last of Ryotos voice Shina would ever hear, it resounds in her nightmares still. Of course she complied, the order of her superior - and more importantly friend - stood above the code of conduct. As soon as she reached the supposedly unconscious woman though, things went horribly, horribly wrong. The unknown girl snapped awake, quickly knocking out the man at her side by ramming her knee against his jaw in a split second. The sheer power of this action made it obvious that she was not human, but it didn't outright kill the investigator nor did she seem to plan on doing so. She scuttered away on all fours, panicking and with tears running down her cheeks at the sight of Shina and her extended Quinque. The rank 2 saw the fear in this ghouls eyes and realized that she was just defending herself. Shina made a hesitant step towards her unconscious partner and the wounded ghoul holding her hands out in a non-hostile manner. "Calm down." she said, with a wavering but friendly voice. A blunt hit to the back of her head then knocked her lights out.
To her own surprise, she awoke alive and unharmed, but to her horror, she realized where she was - the colisseum. They had run into the Puppeteers trap, drawn to the supposedly harmless ghoul victim like total amateurs. And now they payed the price for it.
The next shock was realization that this fight club pitted humans against ghouls. She had heard the rumors about ghoul versus ghoul fighting as a sport, but this here was nothing more than slaughter. Slowly, her mind processed the sight unfolding in front of her - her holding cell had a large window, portraying what looked like a classical gladiatorial arena inside some kind of immense room, the ceiling easily thrice as high as a regular sized house. In the middle of the arena, a massive, bloated ghoul who probably had more muscle mass than her entire body, and equally as much body fat. The Kagune of the ghoul covered his grotesque arms and formed monstrous extensions at his hands that looked like oversized butcher knives, with an unnecessary amount of razor-teeth like thorns protruding everywhere, essentially turning them into macabre nightmare versions of the infamous baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire. Even taking a glancing blow by these would easily turn a whole human body into an unrecognizable mess. She snapped awake just in time to witness the uncategorized ghoul "Ogre" barely miss Ryoto with one of his monstrous attacks. Despite the near miss, the teeth of the Kagune ripped her mentors arm open, grinding away enough flesh for white bones to be exposed. Writhing in pain, he lived only seconds longer in torture before the other arm of the creature connected with his curled up body, ending his existence in one gory smear. Shina screamed her lungs out as the shock ebbed away and the painful loss seeped in. The door of her cell opened and in front of it her suitcase-shaped Quinque presented itself. She threw herself into battle against the monstrosity, eager for the end that would ease the pain of losing her partner. But it was not her time to die. The beast moved slowly and shielded its body with immense range and the sheer intimidation of its spiked appendages, but the latter was of no importance to the investigator, since she had nothing to lose at this point. Using both her own Quinque and the sickle-shaped one of her dead superior, she managed to survive long enough to see the pattern in Ogres attacks and land hits, slowly wearing the monster down. The lethal fists of the ghoul clawed countless shallow scars into her arms, but she always just barely squirmed out of deaths grasp. When the monster finally collapsed, she did too - from exhaustion. One giant corpse among the countless bones and intestines decoration the colliseum.
A masked figure stepped to her side. Though she couldn't see the face of the ghoul, she recognized the thin frame of the wounded clown-girl, wearing the mask of a crying clown mocking her for her own tears. In a fit of rage, the burned-out investigator raised from the ground to strike this person, incarnation of her loss and failure. She didn't know if it was the girl or some other ghoul who hit her, but something impacted with her at unfathomable speed and vaulted her across the arena. Shina didn't get the time to recover from the blow, a moment later the clown-face hovered over her.
"You took out my gladiator. I will remember you for this." a dry, monotone voice sounded from the girl.
Prying, merciless fingers crept over Morizumis face and the following seconds would be burnt into her memory as the most painful experience in her life, as the ghoul slowly and carefully ripped her left eyeball out. Barely audible under the screams of agony filling the arena, the delicate voice spoke to her again.
"You should feel honored. The memory of your success will live on."
Two other ghouls appeared at her side, but the writhing investigator didn't really notice. The pain almost drove her insane. After a nod of the clown, one of them raised his scythe-shaped Kagune above Morizumis body with the clear intent to kill her. The deafening gunshot of a high-caliber sniper rifle sounded, ending the attempted murder by penetrating the head of her supposed butcher right through the temple. While the ghouls body was thrown aside from the impact to land between other corpses with a wet thud, CCG forces poured into the room. Shina herself had swallowed a bug at the beginning of her shift out of sheer paranoia, and just now it did a fine job leading the CCG to a well-timed rescue. Despite her anguish and to the great surprise of the scattering two ghouls, Shina jumped up and charged for the clown girl. Pressured by the CCG forces aassault the Clown was unable to properly fight back, but though Morizumi landed an actual hit through the element of surprise, she eventually lost her target and collapsed for good.
While it remains unclear if the clown-mask was the actual puppeteer, the dead monster was successfully identified as "Ogre" and retrospectively declared S-class. His Kagune was forged into the weapon that is now known as Misery and rightfully dreaded by large parts of the ninth districts ghoul population.
Shina Morizumi came to realization that it was wrong to blame herself for all those years. She survived, Ryoto didn't. He made the mistake, not her. Her intuition to follow the rules was right and his wasn't. While she was still grateful for his support and mourned his loss, she also despised him for this final chapter in her training.
She shelved her old Quinque for being a reminder of her ended partnership, and took up the unique Quinque "Misery" as both a trophy of her achievement in surviving Ogre and a symbol of her realization that in the end, everyone stands or falls alone. While the CCG gave her the option to receive a naturally looking replacement for her eye or even a high tech prototype with several perks and features, Shina remained adamant in her request to use a pitch black glass eye, resembling that of a ghoul. While this is absolutely worthless as a "disguise" - ghouls can smell the difference after all - it serves a purpose still. Like many aspects of her style, it's provocation, a mockery. The target painted on her forehead became one of her greatest allies in fighting ghouls and with Misery she only needs a tiny opening, a brief moment of inattention or underestimation to land a killing blow. Since ghouls usually bathe in their superiority over their human opponents, this is a gamble with the dices rigged in her favor. Despite the glass eye, she often wears an eyepatch that only comes off when fighting a serious battle, where she needs to provocate her opponent as much as humanly possible. Her reliance on the weapon Misery has gotten her that exact alias in ghoul society and the CCG equally. When referring to "Misery", people usually mean her -and- the weapon, as they're virtually inseperable. In the ninth ward, it is often used jeeringly to describe what she has in stock for her current partner.
Shina had a number of partners after the incident, but most of them requested to change teams before long, deeming her unfit for teamwork but admitting her talent. That and the occasional casualty on her more destructive rampages prevented her from ranking up for a time, and eventually the ninth ward ran out of investigators to pair her with. The solution to the problem seemed as simple as effective: internal rumors were spread that the clown-mask moved to the 8th district, and less than twenty-four hours later Shina had her transferral request filled out and handed in. Satisfied with the turn of events, the 9th ward finally promoted her to rank 1 investigator and approved the transferral. Should the 8th deal with her.
Shina keeps an actual headcount of her statistical kills, but not to boast and only to measure her own success. It counts as follows.

Name:
Keiji Junichiro.
Nickname:
Doctor.
Age:
18.
Gender:
Male.
Rank:
B.
Kagune:
The kagune is situated on the lower back of Keiji. It takes on the form of chains which are easily manipulated. It also harbors a great strength behind it, so you should not take them lightly despite having a somewhat frail appearance. It has a purple-red-ish colour. The disadvantage of these is that he can get hooked on something which could toss him backwards, or forwards (depends on the situation) and make him lose balance.
RC Type:
Rinkaku.
Personality:
Keiji is a rather “goofy” character, as well as being somewhat sadistic and occasionally borderline maniacal. He is also lazy and often tries to worm his way out of doing work. Keiji, despite everything, does have a serious side. He feels guilty for making humans suffer more than they deserve by taking away one of their family members.
Biography:
When he was young his parents would always say that everything will be alright and that he could live just like anyone else. The only difference was that he needed to feed once in a while out of human flesh to keep himself alive. This was a rather normal routine and he knew very well that this was not just beef or something like that. His parents would always go hunting and bring back enough food for Keiji to eat. He was grateful for that and always enjoyed it the best he could as he knew how hard they had worked for this.
However this changed when his parents did not come back home one day. So he went out on a search for them only to see them being slaughtered by doves. It was quite a horrible sight as he was only seven years old at that time. It seemed like his heart had stopped beating and that he was pulled into a black hole. Before the doves could see him, he made his way out of there with tears dropping down his cheeks. Crying his heart out once he was at home. Locking himself up in his room for days and days. Until he came to the realisation that this was what ghouls did to human. It was like in the animal world. Eat or be eaten, only the strongest will survive. From that day on he had taught himself how to hunt without being seen. It mostly ended up well. Now, eleven years later, he had grown up in the man he is today.
Quinque: Vera has her Quinque installed on her back which is in the form of a armored chest plate, allowing her to call on it without the need of a brief case like most of her co workers. However, her Quinque is a Kakuja that allows her to transform into a armored beast of a human, though this type of armor aims to remove the need to carry a weapon, instead becoming the weapon itself.
The transformation enhances her natural abilities beyond normal human limit, enabling her to go hand to hand with a ghoul, though being untested it is unsure to what extent. Five rope like darts hang from her back, moving to her whims to help her maneuver around the environment or to bind people in a emergency as they are also detachable and will grow back with time, they not designed to fight against a ghouls Kagune. One of its main powers though is to drain RC Cell's, replenishing its own reserves and possible becoming stronger with each drain.
Being very untested in the field there are bound to be certain... flaws, with the project. Though the physical strain is lessened from the Arata proto armor the mental stress has taken a intense toll on Vera. Every time she dons the armor she changes in personality and approach in her fighting. The armor also rejects all Quinque that she may attempt to wield while wearing the armor.
While not in armor she carries a revolver and a machete like Quinque, a simple thing with only able to fire its blade once every 24 hours.
Personality: While seemingly calm in her expression she is truly a bottle of emotions that only needs the fainest spark to be set off. She will often get childishly upset at any ill comment towards her. However the worse one has to be embarrassing or raunchy comments that will send her into a blushing fit, even when it is said by her enemy, as she sees ghouls as rather interesting and so wont normally attack first.
She loves the taste of food and will always try anything put in front of her. Despite this, when fighting and maybe even blushing she is a cunning fighter and one to be feared if allowed to come up with a plan on the fly, that is unless she is forced to use the armor...
When activating the armor a more rash and sadistic side comes out of her, her normally clam look turning into a crazed grin across her face as she relishes the rush that it gives her. She will often show no mercy to those that have pushed her so far. Even her opinion chances from having a interest in ghouls to seeing them as a sort of obsession to fight, even making comments of keeping some as 'pets', no matter if male or female. This is a side of her she wishes no one to see of her.
Biography: Ghouls... The word use to put fear into her heart, having her parents talk about how they would battle these blood thirsty monsters from the sectors. However the more they spoke of them the more she started to want to fight them as well, and so as soon as she was old enough she joined up with the CCG as a foot solider. Guns had no effect on these things, they were simply there to annoy the ghouls or to take down the weaker ones.
She wanted more, and so using connections she got herself a few ranks ahead of everyone else, but that was not all.. She got noticed by someone, they were dying to test a new project and her body was just the type to attempt it. This is how she obtained the armor, and how that bloody night happened. Unleashed onto a sector one night she cut a path through the ghoul population. After coming around she noticed what she had done, reeling back at the horror of the bodies around her.
Walking out of the building she game across one that had survived, a child... Ghouls had children?... Aiding the little girl from behind some wood paneling she spoke softly "You are safe now..." The girl asking if the monster had gone caused her chest to tighten, but all she could do was nod a response. With hat she let the girl go, and from that day forward promised to control her new found power, or at least aim it in the right direction.
