Hey guys! I'm Buglet! I've spoken to Partisan and I suppose I'll be joining you all. I'm in the process of making a CS as we speak.

Hi folks, I've been talking with Partisan and am going to write a CS for a Lord's Huntsmen in service to the late Lord Rickard. So for now just stopping in to say hello. Edit: Two at once, is this where we call bingo or something? Edit2: Jynx maybe?

Joren Volkov

Full name: Joren Volkov Titles: Knight Social rank: Highborn courtier Job or societal position: Master-at-arms, advisor Age: 54 Gender: Male Appearance: Joren is a tall, stern-looking man with thick gray hair and a thick gray beard. He is very fit, and seldom seen without chainmail and a longsword at his side. His eyes are a dark brown, and his mouth is almost constantly in a slight frown. He walks with a visible limp, favoring his right leg. Personality: Joren is a very straightforward men, as many in the Whitelands are, blunt and abrasive at times. Despite this he is very slow to anger, and rarely gets frustrated. He is loyal to the Weades, as they are his liege lords, but finds it difficult to look on the young now-Duke and his regent brother as his superiors rather than his charges. History: Joren was born a member of one of the minor branches of House Volkov, a noble family which controls a few keeps and surrounding forts and villages in the Whitelands. His particular parents were second cousins of the family's head, and had little land of their own. From a young age Joren distinguished himself with sword and lance, and seemed to have the makings of a knight, as his father and his father's father had been. However, a very large obstacle was put in the way of this goal when Joren was an adolescent. One day, while out hunting in the forest, his horse tripped over an unseen root and collapsed. While Joren was mostly thrown clear one foot caught in the stirrup and his right leg was crushed under the fallen horse, breaking it in several places. While a local village doctor was able to set the leg, it was predicted that Joren would never walk unassisted again. He made do with a long walking cane, hobbling on one leg from place to place. In the end his leg did recover enough to allow him to place some weight on it, but it took quite some time for any skill at arms to return with such limited mobility. But return it did, and at the age of twenty-eight Joren was knighted by Rikard Weade and went into the man's service. As a knight who could not -- or would not -- ride his uses on the battlefield were rather few, so instead Joren was made into the Weades' master-at-arms as well as an unofficial adisor, and worked to train the keep's garrison at sword and shield. He also lent his skill to the education of the Weade children themselves, and taught them the intricacies of sword, shield, mace and hammer. Eventually, however, Joren's hair began to gray and his skill at arms to fade a bit. Regardless of this, however, Lord Rikard kept him in the castle to provide advice and to train his children. He was unable to join Rikard in the Ironhill Dispute, instead remaining behind to serve as castellan until Weade's return -- or, as it turned out, until his death. Skills: Skilled with sword and shield, provides solid advice. Dreams and fears: Dreams of returning to his family's home once his skills are no longer needed. Wishes to help the young Duke and his younger Regent in becoming capable rulers. Fears horses -- not the animals themselves, but rather the idea of riding them. Naturally, this tends to incur a bit of contempt among 'real' knights. Favored equipment: Chain mail, longsword, shield. Extra: The insignia of House Volkov is a pack of wolves guarding the Weades' tree. Joren has two children -- a boy and a girl -- being raised at his family's seat.

@DeltaV Since both of our characters were/are close advisers to the crown it would seem logical that they would have interacted before, therefore, I'd propose that we start the roleplay with some level of familiarity between our characters?

You mention the Falkhalls having a desert climate with some grassland for agriculture. Are the people from the Falkhalls similar at all to the people in this picture. If not, do you think it would be possible to play as someone similar to pic related? I'm not dead set on it or anything, but I think it could make for the basis of an interesting character.

I don't think I would say they are exactly like that, however we do have the eastern lands with the horsemen. They are kind of a mixture between Tatars and Turks. Maybe that works?

@Partisan May I take the liberty of giving my character the last name of Chesfield, to give her a bit more background in the world? And probably a sigil of a mountain too, although she's not really a noble. Edit: I've also thought it might be better to change what we discussed Gregar, if that works for you? It would make sense because they grew up in the same castle.

Hi! I'm brand new here and wanted to ask, before writing out a bunch of stuff, if you'd be okay with a total newbie in your campaign. I love writing and story telling and waaaay back in like 2001 or 2002 I was in a play-by-email roleplaying group, but that's my only experience. I would really like to play some sort of low-born or from-riches-to-rags type thief/scoundrel/smuggler. Let me know! Thanks!

Lord’s Huntswoman

Full name: Briala “Bri” Chesfield Titles: Lord’s Huntsman (Prefers Lord’s Huntswoman. In some cases behind her back she is called Gregar’s mistress, whether true or not is and likely forever shall be up for debate.) Social rank: Honoured Servant Job or societal position: Age: 26 Gender: Female Appearance: Personality: History: Briala spent her early years in Wintershouse, her father was the Lord Huntsmen, as was his father and his father before him, each serving whichever Lord Weade reigned at the time. Growing up she was given a good education due to her father’s high standing and the grace of Lord Rikard, often alongside the Lord’s son Gregar. Although she wasn’t taught any of the weapon skills he learnt. Fortunately Briala’s elder brother, Jediah taught her the archery and hunting skills he learnt from their father. Before long she outshone him during their secret hunting trips, she’d be the one to bring down the most kills, first birds, the rabbits and all manner of small creature eventually even the rare deer. Jediah claimed the spoils as his due to their secrecy; Briala didn’t mind she merely enjoyed the hunt. Unfortunately due to Jediah’s seeming prowess he was sent out to scout for boar alone their father would lead the hunt the next day, in honour of Lady Elisandre’s arrival there would be a hunt. Briala was unable to get out of Wintershouse, she had been trained to be Elisandre’s one of ladies-in-waiting, though she despised the though. The memory of their shared education and his kindness lingered in her mind. The next day when the hunting party road out Jediah wasn’t at the meeting place, yet their father found his trail and followed it to its end. They found her brother, dead, bow in hand, gored by the very boar he was hunting. Soon after when Gregar was married to his beautiful bride, Elisandre, Briala took to the woods stealing one of her father’s bows and enough furs to survive the harsh weather. The death of her brother and seeming loss of the man she loved driving her into the wilderness, after the creature who took all from her. After three days, searching the townspeople and her father assumed she died of the cold. But she did not die; she thrived in fact, finally free to roam. After much searching she found the great boars trail leading up into the mountains, she followed it doggedly. Until finally she found the beast’s lair, and slew the beast, it took three arrows to the head before it went down, managing to score her leg. She made her way back limping, but managed to tow the beast behind her all the way back to the town much to the awe of the townsfolk, it had been eight days by now. She was celebrated as a minor hero, and when asked how she did it she simply stated, “It was not me, it was my brother”. The only one she told the truth to was her father, who in turn told Lord Rikard and requested she be taught as his apprentice, since the spot was open and she clearly had a gift. Her father found there was not much left to teach her and when Rikard left for war he went to loyal as ever, leaving her in charge. When news of Rikard’s death came through she feared for her father, though no one knew either way. She was however made Duke Gregar’s Huntswoman despite him being off fighting, because tradition said that each new lord must have new Huntsmen. Now she struggles with the intrigues of court and the increasing number of ex-soldiers turned bandit roaming the land. Skills: Marksmanship, Tracking, Wilderness survival, Dreams and fears: [can be whatever, just for flavor] Favored equipment: [armor, weaponry, other equipment] Extra: [this can be like an insignia if your character is a (former) noble, or a pet, or whatever.]

Note to those that haven't finished their CS's, you still have time and even after the IC started I won't stop letting people/characters in so don't fear. But it's preferable that you finish it before then.
