“For years we believed The Batman to be a ghost; an urban myth. But we were wrong, and for these last few years… things have been better. How is it that one man in a Halloween costume gets more done than an entire Police Department? I don’t understand it.”

Well, a lot of our previous Batman players are pretty much missing in action and I’d hate to put up an application without Eddie being around to understand we are rebooting, but as Maximum showed is that I can play Batman with enough inspiration and variety to keep it interesting and experienced. I strive to work with legacy characters and other contenders to make an enjoyable Gotham scene.

To add on to that, honestly, I can be active fairly often, and I’m a general team player. I can provide a competent and active Batfamily with conflicts that isn’t just him thwoping the Joker. There’s going to be plenty Bruce Wayne as much as there is The Batman and his dynamic with his supporting cast is something I can provide that will be different from previous incarnations by Byrd in World of Heroes and MB in Ultimate DC and Singular Universe. I constantly research, make links, communicate, as well as set aside time DAILY to decide what I’m doing with my next post, and read the backlogs of the entirety of the superherohype run as the most immersed player that debuted in 2013. I can tell you one thing: nobody is going to these lengths.

I will go at great lengths to make sure this Batman doesn’t disappear in a month and we have a missing Justice League member on our roster. I will refuse to slip up.

Rachel Roth/Raven

Origin & Backstory

Attributes

Rachel Roth is the direct bloodline descendant of Trigon, one of the most powerful demons in existence. As such, she can project her influence over the world, grant favors to those who benefit her or cause catastrophe to her enemies. Her half-demon soul can reach into the material world and constrict or wound people, intrude on the minds of others and even temporarily possess their souls themselves. If she ever succumbs fully do the demonic side of her, Raven will bridge this world with Trigon's and bring about the apocalypse.

However, Raven has blocked off the vast extent of her true power, and instead focuses more on human magic to manipulate the world around her. She is exceptionally good at picking up on incantations and magical systems, and has thus far mastered Hermeticism, tarot, African Vodun and New Orleans Voodoo, Senshism, Qabballa, Appalachian folk magic, Santeria, and the Greek, Indian, and Chinese forms of Alchemy. This gives her knowledge of a wide array of spells and rituals, many of which require a large amount of time and preparation to carry out.

In combat, Raven has a set of practical spells she has learned to cast quickly and without material components. These include levitation, telekinesis, teleportation, and protective shields. Through meditation, she can also attune to the thoughts of others, and project her astral form outside of her physical body, though doing so leaves her body vulnerable.

Character Notes

Character Goals

I plan on telling interesting and compelling character-driven stories with Raven and Star, two characters that haven't had a fair shake in DC in ages. The two of them have the potential for a 'buddy cop' dynamic that never really gets explored, and that's what I'm aiming to go for here. I want to create versions of these two that have grown and developed just like Dick Grayson and Barbara Gordon have, rather than just retelling the same story with Raven over and over or courting controversy with Star. Mostly, though, I plan on having fun with my two favorite characters from the Titans show, remade to fit into this version of the DCU.

Sample Post

"Good afternoon, Mister Jefferson," I say at the doorstep, extending a rubber-gloved hand in greeting. "Rachel Roth, of Roth and Anders Paranormal Investigations, at your service. I understand you have a potentially dangerous situation involving your daughter?"

"Oh, thank goodness, yes!" he says, shaking my hand and practically yanking me inside. "I'm amazed you were able to come out here so quickly. But yes, it's Amanda. She's......she's not well. We moved in about a year ago and I think....I think there's something wrong with this place....."

Looking around the living room, I see little out of the ordinary. Ugly green sofa, coral blue carpet, white walls adorned with family photos, a bookcase filled half with 'inspirational' fluff and half with books about World War II. A coffee table covered in magazines. A television with too many remote controls.

Upstairs, I hear a loud thump and a pained howl.

"She keeps saying there's something inside of her, something that's....making her do things," Mister Jefferson says in a worried voice. "Ever since we've moved in, there have been weird sounds, things moving where they weren't before....and it's only gotten worse in the last few months. Melissa and I, we've always been skeptical about religion, but......I don't know.....I think there might be something here. My little girl.....I think she's....possessed....."

"Well, you called the right person for the job," I say, pulling my hair back into a tight ponytail in the back, and then reaching into the pockets of my thick denim coveralls for a pair of safety goggles and a hair net. "If there's any kind of malevolent entity in this house, I'll be able to find it, identify it, and get rid of it."

My heavy work boots make a loud clunking noise as I make my way up the stairs.

"I, er, I can't help but notice.....erm, your outfit...." Mister Jefferson stammers.

"You were expecting the cloak and the skin-tight leotard and all that, right?" I say, not looking back as I roll my eyes. "I wear that when I go out to be a superhero. But you didn't hire me to be a superhero today. You called in about a demon....which means you hired me to be an exterminator."

"So you need to dress up like you're about to go swamp fishing?"

I stop and turn to him.

"Believe me, I've handled my fair share of demons," I assure him. "If this goes anything like my last job, you're going to wish you'd put on some gloves and some old clothes, too. Demons tend to be very....biological, when it comes to resisting exorcism."

"You don't say....."

We reach Amanda's room, and I open the door. Inside, a girl about the age of fourteen is writhing painfully on her bed. She's shouting and snarling, and screaming as her joints pop and her body contorts. It's all very hard to watch.

Still, I've got a job to do, and the first part of that job is finding out exactly what I'm dealing with.

I spend the next few minutes examining the supposed victim, monitoring her breathing, getting her heart rate, seeing how she reacts to various herbs and holy symbols (one of the reasons I'm wearing rubber gloves, in fact-- I can't touch the things myself), before looking her square in the eye and noticing the movement.

"She's an epileptic," I conclude. "She needs to be taken to the hospital and treated there. I'm sorry that you've wasted your time, but there doesn't seem to be any demon here, Mister Je--"

And then Mister Jefferson bursts into a swarm of spiders. Amanda screams as thousands of menacing little black-and-yellow arachnids scurry across the room. The door slams shut, and the room fills with a sickening stench as hot feces begins to splatter down from the ceiling.

THE CHILD IS OURRSSSSSSSSSSS...... the spiders hiss in unison.

I sigh with annoyance as it splats on my hairnet and stains the thick flannel shirt under my coveralls.

"It's never an easy day on the job, is it?"

We live together, we train together, we fight together, we stand for good together. We are ninjas. We strike hard, defend, protect, and fade into the night. And there ain't no bad guy or monster ever gonna change that, that's what's important, and that's why we'll always be... brothers.

Identity

Leonardo

Origin and Backstory

Attributes
Leonardo and his brothers are genetically mutated anthropomorphic turtles. Their mutations have granted them with slight superhuman strength, dexterity, agility, reflexes, and endurance, along with a moderate healing factor. Being turtles, they also have shells that can stop small arms fire and their hides are resistant to bladed weapons, though far from stab-proof. Along with these natural abilities, Leonardo and his brothers were trained as experts in nijutsu and the art of the samurai by their adoptive father Splinter. They are adept at hand-to-hand, weapon, and projectile combat.

Leo carries two ninja swords with him at all times as his primary weapons. He also carries a variety of throwing weapons on his belt including shurikens, throwing knives, and smoke bombs. The turtles are also known to employ bows and arrows when the situation calls for it.

Thanks to Donatello's technical and mechanical prowess, the turtles have communicators and tracking devices handy.

Character Notes

Character Goals
I want to ingrain the Turtles, Foot, and supporting characters into the Marvel/DC lore. Considering the plethora of ninjas, mutants, and teen heroes in each, there will be plenty of opportunities for interaction and new storytelling opportunities. Other than that, I'd love to work out the Foot's war on New York, as well as bringing light to the Shredder's bigger plans for the world at large. I'd also like to take the Turtles into the...weirder aspects of their comics history. No reason we can't see Krang, the Utroms, Triceratons, and Neutrinos interacting with the Kree, Skrull, and Green Lantern Corps. Basically I want to have fun with these characters, while also playing up the family aspect they share.

The Turtles are only recently active, no more than a few months. So there's a lot that needs to be done with them.

Sample Post

Leonardo could still see it sometimes. The blood that flowed from the bodies as the Kingpin's men screeched away in their car. It was the Turtles' first taste of violence. Well, real violence. He had seen guns in the movies Donnie downloaded off the internet. He had been trained in nearly every form of hand-to-hand combat the world had ever seen. There was nothing like the real thing, however. Seeing what a firearm could do had told Leonardo many things. That those that used them had no honor. That violence was king on the surface. But most of all it told him that there was a need for him and his brothers to protect the people that lived in this great city. They were his responsibility now. That was something he wouldn't take lightly.

"Hey look, he's brooding again!" Raph laughed as he slapped Leo on the shoulder. "What're ya thinking about? What would Captain America do? We should make a bracelet for you with it on there."

"Very funny, Raph," Leo rolled his eyes and looked around the lair. Mikey was buried in a video game, Donnie was tinkering with something, and Raph was on his third set of pushups for the day. They had been on patrol the night before, and had taken down a few groups of Foot soldiers doing who knows what. They were in a good mood, that's for sure. "So are we patrolling tonight?"

"Do we have to?" Mikey whined as he pressed away at the controller, half his tongue sticking out the side of his mouth. "I'm so in the zone."

"You don't become a hero like Superman by taking nights off, Mike," Leo shot back to his brother.

"Yea, well, maybe when you can fly around the world in an hour you can be like the big blue boy scout," Raph grunted through his reps. "Hell, you definitely got the boy scout part down."

"Besides," Donnie piped in, "we told April and Casey we'd meet them at the movies later."

"Yea, bro!" Mikey exclaimed. "Furious 7! Ride or die, Leo!"

He chuckled, and had to admit they were right. They had been working for weeks without a night off, and it would be good to hang out with their friends when they weren't nearly being killed by gangsters or ninjas. Still, Leo kept his mind on the Foot. They had been getting more brazen in their moves. The leader of the Turtles wasn't sure if it was due to the vigilante group's emergence into the gang war or what, but The Foot were pressing the advantage they were building against Kingpin. Things would come to a head soon.

"Seriously, Leo," Raph shook his head as he grabbed a towel, "no one can possibly brood this much."

As his brothers got ready to leave, Leonardo slunk into his father's room and found him meditating. Leo crossed his legs and sat directly across from his sensei, "Father."

"I thought you were going to the movies?" Splinter asked without opening his eyes. "I would not want you to miss the show."

"We have time," Leo shook his head. "Father, I'm worried about-"

"The Foot," he cut his son off. "Of course you are. We all are. As we should be. The Shredder is not to be trifled with. But until we find out what his true intentions are, we will stab blindly in the dark to stop him. What have I always told you about control, Leonardo?"

"Without control and wisdom, we lose everything," Leonardo recited from memory. "A true combatant needs steady ground under his feet. Must mind his surroundings. Fighting blind means losing, no matter how strong you may be."

"Which means go to the movies. Have fun with your friends," Splinter smiled. "The Foot will be there when you're done, my son."

Daniel "Danny" Rand-Kai A.K.A. The Immortal Iron Fist

Origin & Backstory

1988-1998: Death of a Family
In 1988 Danny Rand-Kai was born to Heather Duncan Rand and businessman Wendell Rand-Kai, CEO of Rand-Meachum Inc. Danny's childhood was about as uneventful as the son of a billionaire's could be until the year he turned ten years old, when his father decided to take Danny, Heather and his business partner Harold Meachum with him in search of the mythical city of K'un-Lun. Meachum betrayed the Rand family, pushing Wendell off a cliff and abandoning Heather and Danny to die on the icy mountain slopes they were journeying through when they wouldn't join him in his hostile takeover of Wendell's former life. The two wandered lost through the mountains, stalked by wolves and weakened by cold and starvation. Eventually the wolves struck, and as Heather sacrificed herself to give Danny a few brief moments more to run the last thing he saw before collapsing in exhaustion was a set of shining, golden gates burning through a haze of snow.

When Daniel Rand next awoke, it was within the walls of the Eternal City of K'un-Lun. Its Immortal rulers had rescued him and taken him in, as he happened to arrive during the once-every-decade period when K'un-Lun intersects directly with the mortal plane. As an apology for failing to save Danny's mother as well, they offered to grant him any one request. It barely took Danny Rand any time at all to ask them to teach him everything they could about combat. Thus, while the world mourned the death of one of New York's most high profile philanthropists and his family, Danny Rand began his apprenticeship under Lei Kung The Thunderer.

1998-2008: Birth of an Iron Fist
The Thunderer's training was brutal if also enlightening, designed to hone mind, body and spirit into a weapon forged with an immortal lifetime of experience. Danny's fellow students made his life no easier as he was constantly isolated, mocked and attacked due to his foreign heritage and status as an outworlder. But Danny persisted, the desire for revenge on Harold Meachum lending an angry fire to his efforts that no amount of guidance from his mentors or torment from his peers could extinguish. All the while Danny and the other trainees were told stories of the legendary dragon Shou-Lao the Undying, how he eternally guards K'un-Lun, his still beating heart magically separated from his body and placed inside an enchanted brazier that forced it to beat so that he would never die. They were also told that once in each generation a worthy warrior would be chosen from among trainees like them to face Shou-Lao and attempt to claim the Dragon's power as their own to become the Iron Fist, Immortal Weapon of K'un-Lun. Danny desired this above all else, both to prove himself to those who mocked him and to better exact his revenge against Harold Meachum.

It took ten long years of nearly endless training, but finally the day arrived when a warrior would be chosen to face Shou-Lao the Undying. To the surprise of nearly everyone but himself and Lei Kung, Danny managed to defeat every other challenger and earn the right to face the Dragon. When the time came Danny entered Shou-Lao's mountaintop cave and fought the massive dragon with his bare hands. It was a grueling fight, but in the end Danny was able to grapple with Shou-Lao and cover the still-gaping chest wound which tied the great serpent to its' still beating heart with his own body. The heat of the beast's fiery blood was so intense that it branded the dragon-shaped wound of Shou-Lao into Danny's chest, but in the end he held on long enough to subdue Shou-Lao. With that done Danny plunged his fists into the Undying dragon's molten, still beating heart again and again, until it truly died. The process infused Danny with the dragon's powerful chi and enabled him to channel it through his fists. Thus The Immortal Iron Fist was born!

2008-2009: Iron Fist, Wanted Man!
Afterward it was revealed to Danny that his coming to K'un-Lun was no accident, in fact his father Wendell was the brother of the Immortal lord Yu-ti and Danny was K'un-Lun royalty. The Yu-Ti offered Danny the chance to live forever in K'un-Lun as an immortal and a prince, but he rejected life in paradise, instead returning to the mortal world to seek revenge on Harold Meachum. He was able to track Meachum down to the Rand Tower in New York and fight past innumerable traps and bodyguards, only to find Harold Meachum a broken shell of a man not only confined to a wheelchair after losing both of his legs but already driven to insanity by guilt for his past crimes. However, before Danny could decide what to do, Meachum was killed by a mysterious assailant dressed as a ninja and Iron Fist was framed as Meachum's murderer. Danny found himself at the center of a nationwide manhunt after murdering the well known billionaire. Worse yet, Harold Meachum's daughter Joy put a sizable bounty on his head and he had no real civilian identity to hide behind. Danny spent the majority of his time alternately avoiding the police, fighting bounty hunters and misinformed superheroes alike, and desperately searching for the ninja to clear his name. He eventually found out that The Ninja was a vengeful wraith of a warrior and assassin who had once fought against K'un-Lun. He had been raised from the dead by an unknown master and framed Danny to try and destroy him and leave the Eternal City defenseless. However in their final confrontation the increasingly unstable Ghost Ninja ended up gleefully confessing all of this in front of a rather large crowd during their rather flashy battle and as a result Iron Fist was cleared of all charges with minimal difficulty.

2009-present: A New Life

With help from a penitent Joy Meachum, Daniel Rand was able to prove his identity as the boy who vanished into the mountains many years ago and take back his father's company though he was mainly put in charge of public relations and Rand Incorporated's numerous charitable organizations. With vengeance long out of his reach Iron Fist decided to put his training to good use instead, becoming one of New York's many street-level heroes, though his duties as the Immortal Weapon of K'un-Lun also bound him to a world of martial arts and mysticism. Now as 2010 begins Daniel Rand-Kai is living a new life with new friends and new enemies, all while serving as a bridge for two very different worlds.

Attributes
Martial Arts-First and foremost Daniel Rand-Kai is one of the greatest martial artists on Earth, taught by masters with an immortal lifetime of experience with methods that would seem impossible to ordinary men. He is a master of all of the martial arts of K'un-Lun and many of the martial arts of Earth, including styles of fighting that have been unknown to most mortals for thousands of years. More mundanely he is a master of Ninjutsu, Jujitsu, Aikido, all forms of Shaolin Kung Fu, Karate, Judo, Boxing and even informal street-fighting techniques. He has complete mastery of nearly all martial arts weaponry and weapon styles, and is skilled enough at pressure point techniques to effectively use them against superhuman opponents and even beings whose physiology is completely inhuman.

Chi Manipulation and Augmentation-Thanks to his training in K'un-Lun, Danny is able to manipulate his chi to enhance his strength, speed, reflexes, durability, endurance, agility and senses to superhuman levels, although doing this usually takes some concentration and leaves him greatly drained afterward.

Chi of Shou-Lao-Thanks to plunging his fists into the molten heart of the legendary dragon Shou-Lao the Undying, Danny can call upon the dragon's immense and powerful chi and focus it into his fist. While this is primarily used for his signature Iron Fist ability, Danny has occasionally been able to utilize the Chi of Shou-Lao to heal himself and others in times of great desperation and it may have other functions as well, unknown to him. Danny's main usage is focusing the Chi of Shou Lao into his hands in order to make them practically invulnerable and capable of striking with massive concussive force. Although "Becoming like a thing of Iron" is how it was phrased in ancient K'un-Lun, the Iron Fist technique is capable of easily shattering or shredding through iron, steel and much harder and denser substances with relative ease. What's more, Danny can focus more of Shou-Lao's chi into his fists for stronger strikes and has yet to reach his maximum power with the Iron Fist.

Meditation and Body Control-Thanks to meditative exercises learned in K'un-Lun Danny is able to exercise complete mastery over his body, enabling him to control his breathing and heartbeat well enough to slow them to a state indistinguishable from death, deaden himself to all pain, greatly slow the effects of drugs and toxins on his body, go days without sleep and adapt himself to a wide variety of environments with relative ease.

Peak-Human conditioning-Danny's incredibly intensive training in K'un-Lun means that his body is trained and conditioned to the peak potential of an unassisted human, making him just short of a Steve Rogers-level of physically fit even without the use of his chi.

Acrobatics-As part of his training in K'un-Lun, Danny was honed into a highly skilled acrobat, enabling him to maneuver through environments as diverse as the mountainous slopes outside K'un-Lun, the twisted jungles of the H'ylthri and the urban sprawl of New York city with equal ease, speed and grace.

Stealth-Though not as skilled as some, Danny's mastery of ninjutsu includes training in the arts of concealment, deception and stealth.

Multi-Lingual-Danny is fluent in numerous languages and dialects used throughout China, as well as American English and Japanese.

Some Knowledge of the Occult-For someone who professes to totally lack any interest in or aptitude for magic Daniel Rand-Kai possesses a surprising amount of knowledge regarding the mystic arts, supernatural lore and arcane secrets mankind is typically not meant to know. However, Danny himself will swear-up-and-down that he's hardly an expert in such matters, instead insisting that growing up in the high society of K'un-Lun necessitates a basic understanding of such things.

Character Notes

Character Goals
I want to successfully weave Iron Fist into the Maximum Comics universe while also drawing on his lore to create stories that are well-crafted and self-aware while staying true to the character's Wuxia and Kung-Fu B-Movie influences in a way that's fun to write and to read. Overall I want to collaborate with everyone to have a fun time, make something cool and expand the Maximum Comics universe for the better, especially where its' martial artists are concerned.

I plan on bringing Superman to a higher standard of storytelling, telling unique and interesting stories that could only be done with a character as wonderfully insane as Superman. That said, I don't plan on making fluffy 'love-letter' pieces that go on and on about how great and important the character is because, to be honest, those get boring very quickly. I want Superman's world to be dangerous, action-packed, energetic, and fun.

I have a few ideas that I've been dying to try with an older, more experienced Superman, that we rarely ever get to see considering how many Year One/early days interpretations we usually get in this kind of game. So the opportunity to play a Superman that knows his way around things is the kind of thing that makes my mouth water, so to speak.

"Lois! Are you all right?"

The sky is on fire, and seven billion people are screaming.

Hours ago, a psychotic and tortured soul who went by the name 'Ruin' enacted a suicidal plan to bring about the apocalypse. Creating a massive gravitational tether, Ruin used it to grab hold of Earth's moon and set it on a collision course with the planet.

"I'm fine, what the hell is going on out there?" Lois says, standing up from her desk.

"The moon is about to crash into the Earth," I let her know. "I stopped the machine that was generating the gravity well, but the damage has been done."

"But, I mean.....you've got this, right?" she asks, with a hopeful nod.

"I think so," I say, looking up at the blackened scorched sky as the continent-sized satellite bears down on us. "Firestorm and Red Tornado are doing everything in their power to mitigate the damage to the planet's atmosphere. Aquaman is working with Captain Atom to keep the tidal forces from drowning everyone, and a few of the Green Lanterns are constructing braces to keep the tectonic plates from shaking apart. Meanwhile, Reed Richards has gotten a Mother Box operational and is ready to open a Boom Tube if things go south, and Flash will evacuate everyone through the Tube to safety."

"Everyone in Metropolis?"

"Everyone on Earth."

Lois seems sufficiently impressed.

"That seems to cover the collateral damage," she says. "But what about, you know, the moon about to slam into the Earth and destroy the world?!"

"That's my job."

"What exactly are you going to do, Smallville?"

I look up at the crashing moon, and I crack my knuckles.

"The moon is falling, and I'm Superman." I say, turning back to her with a smile. "What do you think I'm going to do?"

"....you're seriously going to try and--"

"All in a day's work," I say with a wink, and take to the skies, to take the cataclysm head-on.....

Kara-El / Linda Lang / Supergirl

Origin & Backstory
Early Life
The childhood of the girl of tomorrow was one of isolation, tragedy, and obscurity; which would very much explain the blonde-haired Kryptonian’s personality in the years to come. Kara’s father, Zor-El, was one of the brightest minds of his generation and alongside his brother were crucial to developments on their planet until the shadow of darkness befell it. Kara’s father was a very paranoid intellectual— something that would only become worse as before Kara reached her six cycle after birth something tragic and terrible occurred in Argos; his wife and the mother of his child had been murdered thus changing everything. At this point there was nobody to rein in his delusions or theories and on the shadow of a great crisis he refused to listen to even his own brother. The last thing Krypton knew of Zor-El was that he had locked himself and his daughter away in his laboratory rambling to himself about fate and danger.

Following the isolation, Kara found herself in an environment that was shaped around her father and his extensive educational process due to the fact that either the death of Alura had degraded him to lunacy or that he had deduced a crisis that would shatter the world; Kara was taught the latter. At such a young age, Kara didn’t really know how to come to terms with her mother’s death nor how to handle her tutelage by her father. The next few years for her were all planned subsequently through this tutelage and with Kara in mind, Zor-El began to toil with her genetics in the guise of medical checkups which would net her the engineered physiology. This engineer physiology would increase her brain functions, evolve her immune system, modify her perceptive capability, and much more. Kara didn’t understand why she would in time pick up on information from archives and instructional lessons at a faster level than before nor did she understand why she no longer became prone to illness; but she never thought much of it until much later in life.

In time, the crisis that Zor-El had predicted had come and the aged scientist made the decision to doom his daughter away to an alien planet with nothing and nobody. The last daughter of Krypton was placed in a hyperbolic sleep and placed in a illegally developed spacecraft destined to make sure that the House of El in the form of Kara lived to see the next cycle and damn the consequences. This starship would drift in space as it literally froze her in time until it landed in the star system known as Sol. Equipping her with a robotic AI with a recorded log from himself, he hoped Kara could make it out there with what he had given her. Much like Kal-El, Kara-El had been designated towards the planet known as Earth. However, due to a variety of complicated events she would never reach Earth until much later than anticipated.

2008: Welcome to Earth
Discovered and intercepted by Superman, Kara would awaken confused and with all of her senses absorbing the effects of Earth’s particular atmosphere and solar connection whilst awakened by a strange man bearing the symbol of her house on his chest; not a pleasant introduction at all. It would turn out that time would mend all wounds and the experience of at least having somebody that was of the House of El beside her would make it all the more easier. However this would come with consequences as her landing did not go unnoticed as SHIELD’s extraterrestrial division called SWORD, and Lex Luthor himself would investigate – a terrible precedent to the beginning of her time on Earth.

Initially this did not concern Superman, who had just discovered a connection that he thought he could never have— especially after the last time he had interacted with other Kryptonians had been at the brunt of an invasion by General Zod several years prior. Under suggestion by Lois, he found he would have to prioritize her safety above all else which meant she had to be raised low-key like he had. The options were slim however as it came down to a few fringe ideas until his childhood friend Lana Lang, a renowned novelist who also lived in Metropolis came to be an ideal option. Turning to the Justice League’s Batman for help in regards to securing her identity, it was in no time that Kara’s alter-ego as “Linda Lang” would become concrete.

At first, Kara couldn’t help but believe she was being further isolated and abandoned as she was shuffled off to a non-Kryptonian who couldn’t possibly relate or help her to cope. However, this was only piece of the puzzle as Kara found herself gaining powers quicker than even her cousin could have anticipated and decided that the Fortress of Solitude could only offer so much. More help from the Justice League came when Wonder Woman suggested that she oversee Kara until she got a handle on her powers and as a way of private sanctuary before she settled in as her dual identity of Linda Lang. After some complications Kara found herself feeling a sort of whiplash as she was tossed from Superman to Lana Lang to Wonder Woman’s care in a manner of weeks which caused distress in the young Kryptonian— it was as if she had no place immediately on Earth and nobody knew what to do with her.

2009: Supergirl
Several months would pass and the New Year dawned. Kara’s time on Themyscira boded well for her as she felt an environment where her new powers could be developed in peace and obscurity, and as she came into control of herself she had returned “home” to Metropolis and her guardian, Lana Lang. It was here that she seemed to absorb knowledge even faster than she came to her powers which was especially curious to those supervising her; wondering what set her apart from her cousin in this regard. It was after this that Superman found himself attacked by a coalition of villains called the SRS (Superman Revenge Squad). It was time for Supergirl to debut, though Kara herself wasn’t sure about the actions she had studied her cousin’s escapades as ‘Superman’ to get an idea of why he was who he was and what he stood for—which included deep conversations between her and her cousin who at this point Kara had partially substituted as a parental replacement for her own father. Join the fray, she gave Superman the edge he needed to fight off the SRS— and so Supergirl was revealed to the public in plain view.

Kara’s life had been set in stone as complicated as the previous year had been and adapting certainly wasn’t easy; but what was done was done and she had to look and move forward. As Linda Lang, she found herself juggling the responsibilities of three worlds much like her cousin had in his years on Earth— the role of a civilian to understand and experience Earth culture as Linda Lang, the role of a Kryptonian survivor in the domain of an alien world, and the role of a Protector that stood for her house and the legacy of Superman’s colors.

With Supergirl known as a public figure, things began to change as Metropolis— people were still unsure about Kryptonians even nearly a half-decade following the Zod crisis that was dealt with sufficiently by her cousin. Political figures like G Gordon Godfrey sought to demonize the increasing nature of “child superheroes” as well as his delusions that the existence of Earth-based Kryptonians only preluded dangers they would bring to the planet as well as a belief that individuals like Superman sought to become their “new gods” and strip the powerless of their liberties. One of these manic paranoid beliefs would prove a little true when a intergalactic synthetic named Naxx appeared on Earth and attacked Supergirl viciously and without reason whilst Superman himself was dealing with a crisis in Madripoor. The fight would be the first “real” one she would have following aiding Superman against the SRS having only dealt with natural disasters, thieves, and non-powered criminals in the meantime. Aided by John Henry Irons, Kara is able to defeat and disable Naxx who is afterwards collected by a Dr. Emil Hamilton of the Metropolis STAR Labs branch before SHIELD or LexCorp can arrive and claim parts of the synthetic like they had before in regards to enemies like AMAZO and others.

The months seemed to fly by quickly afterward, and Kara found herself capable of being ready to truly experience the culture that she was supposed to defend and soon found herself enrolled in the Midvale Academy in Metropolis through a little help from an undefined trust fund set up by Batman, her scholarship through her intelligence scores, and some contacts from inside that Lana had made years prior who happened to be a big fan of her books. This in September 2009 Linda Lang became a student after a long term “homeschooling”. She would become friends with two students in the succeeding months – Lori Luthor and Richard Malverne. However she soon became introduced to Nasthalthia Luthor who seemed conflictive in her views on superhumans— in particular aliens. Despite this Linda Lang did not become enemies, but as Supergirl Kara knew it would only be a matter of time.

And so our story continues…

Attributes
Kryptonian Physiology – Much like Superman and General Zod, Kara has a vast powers that include perception, endurance, strength, flight, speed, and potential.

Engineered Physiology – As a daughter of Krypton and one of the most physically advanced individuals in the universe, Kara has the potential of power growth that is immense. However, unlike Superman or even other Kryptonians there exists abilities beyond that potential. This is, of course, due to scientific experiments done to her by her father throughout her life due to his dogmatic fear of society and the universe as a whole. This of course was not a taboo idea on Krypton, a place where the civilization survived on said genetic adaptions to their environment. However, Zor-El was not only a brilliant geneticist but considered a genius even amongst the standards of his people. So it is through that where Kara gained abilities such as:

Eidetic Memory – Kara takes after her father in intelligence, but it is through his engineering that she weilds not only a photographic memory but perfect recollection of memory sonically or visually absorbed. It can be theorized that this is greater than the normal “sponge effect” Kryptonians can wield thus making Kara possibly a living archive of Kryptonian culture and knowledge.

Power Evolution – Due to her genetic tampering it is possible that Kara obtains the potential to not only excel in learning her powers on selective environments but have these powers mutate or develop to a level where new ones can be created.

Reactive Adaption – Allowing Kara to be the “ultimate” survivor, Kara has the ability to adapt to new surroundings and especially planets in an exceptionally short time compared to other Kryptonians of a quality pedigree. She holds an immune system designed to make her more resilient thus protecting her from various toxins and dangerous as well as allowing her body to develop countermeasures to them efficiently.

Character Goals
To create stories about a Supergirl as an adolescent in an alien world coming to grips with responsibility, duty, and humility. Been trying to run this version of Kara for a year and a half now, so lets see if it sticks this time.

Sample Post
The Kent apartment was quiet preluding up until the robbery that entangled both the Atom and Superman, with Kara-El finding herself divulging in more of Clark’s informative media as she had done since she got comfortable on planet Earth. Sitting firmly before the television set came a loud whisper—the call for help from Kal-El. The hardest thing in her time on Earth had been this particular viable asset of “super-hearing” and Kal had for the most part tried to help her tune out most of it, but there was no complete deafening of it so when we she heard her cousin’s voice in pain and worry she narrowed her eyes as she spun out of her Earth clothes and into the kryptonian suit underneath which upon last year she had programmed to visibly appear like Superman’s costume.

In a flash she was heading for the overview of where Superman’s voice had come from.

“It’s Supergirl!” The voice of one of the citizens barked as she hovered above the building. Kara left a smile as Kal had often told her to put on ‘a show’ to reassure the public everything was going to be alright, so that’s what she had found herself doing in situations like this.

Switching over to her variable visions she saw the scene before them—seventeen subjects, two superheroes, six criminals, nine hostages. The most worrying thing is that these robbers seemed to have the heroes on the ropes and she could tell this from the apparent hue of the green death that was upon them. This was not unlike Metallo, but with hostages. Though Kara very well knew she couldn’t throw an automobile into the crowd of robbers even if they were what Kal had called “powered” as the hostages would be at risk. But she couldn’t wait around either and she needed a plan of action.

Quiet and quick she sped into the entrance of the bank, blasting the man who had been “attacking” the Atom with a minute shot of heat vision at his hands. It wasn’t enough to melt human flesh in this capacity but it was just enough to mimic touching a hot stove or burning fire.

“You guys are cheating.” Kara cooed as she shot a destructive blast of heat vision at the “super magnet”, the robber holding it dropping it as it turned into goo.

“Why don’t you come closer, superbaby?” One of them spat as he noticed she was keeping her distance.

“Get away from my cousin and maybe I will.”

Kara smirked cockily as she put her hands on her hips—she swore she had seen this from one of those new “Earth movies” she had stumbled upon in her year since landing on the planet. Her next step was the firearms of the individuals as with a third superhero here and keeping her distance they’d look to threaten the hostages. So she decided she’d melt their guns at a distance as well.

It was pretty simple.

“They will regret crossing her, but she will regret pursuing them so much more.”

Identity
Ava Ayala / White Tiger

Origin & Backstory
2005-2006: The Tiger of the Bronx
The story of the White Tiger begins with the first one to supposedly don the name and costume. Hector Ayala was a nursing student at Empire State University when he found himself in the possession of The Amulet of the Jade Tiger after stumbling on the scene of a grizzly crime in his neighborhood. The scene was dark as two bodies laid in the street, one of them ending up being the elderly Lin Sun— as Hector came to stabilize his wounds he told Hector a phrasing that he wouldn’t quite understand until much later: “For each is born anew, the tiger’s son.” As Lin Sun drifted to his death Hector found he had been given an amulet in his hand shaped of the head of a tiger and made of jade. Failing to save the man’s life and with ambulance on its way, he felt something within the amulet that he would only discover in the succeeding days as the deity within spoke obscurely through to him in his sleep and he found himself stronger, quicker, and with a seemingly endless stream of energy. At first he wasn’t sure what to make of it—but when his younger brother resurfaces as a corpse after meddling with The Jackson Corporation, the medical student decides to take the lead of the heroes of the past and present and use the amulet to protect his family and neighbors within the Bronx so it would never happen again.

Hector was no detective, but the criminal activities around the Bronx was clear and whilst his brother found himself with the wrong types of people he did still have friends. Tracking down the “crowd” his brother ran with in high school he realized that the gang his brother was a part of was a fringe operation of the mysterious “Corporation” as The Kingpin Syndicate had generally lacked much operations in The Bronx at this point rather focusing on Harlem at the time. This is where White Tiger armed in nothing but a hoody and a ski mask would eventually fight his first supervillain— Animus. The battle was long and fierce, one that the more experienced enemy had certainly had the edge on but in a mixture of surprise and celestial guidance it won out in Hector’s favor. In the shadows of the encounter was an injured photo-journalist by the name of Alexander Knox who would be the one to remark on the ferocity of Hector as like that of a tiger and would be the one to name Hector’s vigilante title: White Tiger. After defeating Animus, Hector discussed at length about the situation with the supposed criminal corporation and they shared notes which would foreshadow a long relationship between the vigilante and the reporter.

Despite uncovering that this criminal corporation was operating in the Bronx through a majority of smuggling, weapons distribution, and narcotics development—the newly named White Tiger hadn’t solved the murder of his dear brother completely yet. As his and Knox’s investigation continued they gathered a NYPD detective by the name of Nathaniel Byrd into their fold; eager to clean the streets of the unsaintly scum he found himself working the police angle and sharing non-essential information with the vigilante. These small tips would lead to the White Tiger decommissioning several of this corporations activities until they found themselves fed up and hired a hitman by the name of Gideon Mace to deal with him and to “send a message” to anybody else who could be inspired by this Tiger of the Bronx. Used to tracking military criminals and legal dodgers, Mace tracks White Tiger to his home and makes the connection between the Hispanic vigilante to his family & friends. The end of White Tiger’s first year against crime ends with the death of his parents in front of his sister, Ava Ayala. White Tiger arrives in time to stop his sister from joining his parents and a fight ensues between him and Mace—resulting in Mace being apprehended by Detective Byrd in the end.

Taking the guardianship of his sister and graduating from ESU, Hector realizes he needs employment to properly take care of his sister. Knowing such he ends up working at a small clinic in the Bronx as he continues his war on crime at night as he looks for justice for his parent’s execution under the orders of the corporation. After defeating Animus the year before, the criminal faction seemed to increase its manpower as it hired more specialists to oversee operations and specifically “deal” with White Tiger if he crossed their path. This would put Hector at odds with villains such as Kickback, Constrictor, Kangaroo, and Veil. In-between investigating the obscure criminal activities of the corporation Hector also had to deal with the mundane street crime of his city such as the expansion of the Golden Dragons Triad.

As time teetered on more pieces of the puzzle fell in place due to the investigative skills by Alexander Knox, Nathaniel Byrd, and the White Tiger. However the truth is larger than any of them could expect as the criminal network behind the strife they had been facing is the legitimate business of The Jackson Corporation led by the inner circle of entrepreneur Curtiss Jackson, politician Eugene Stivak, and prodigal scientist Dr. Karlin Malus. Attacking their main facility as Knox prepares an exposé, the White Tiger decides to damage their infrastructure whilst Detective Byrd gathers a warrant for a raid on their “legal” headquarters. The rest becomes history as the influence of The Jackson Corporation is wiped out from The Bronx—however, taking out one criminal faction leaves the borough open for entrance by other more dangerous elements…

2007-2009: Reign of the Tiger
The next three years proved good for The Bronx as Hector continued to look after it, coming at odds with various criminal factions ranging from the Golden Dragons Triad to smaller groups and gangs. At home, Hector began to instruct his sister in self-defense using his knowledge of martial arts from the amulet as a medium to do so. Unlike other superheroes Hector was always straight with his sister, never hiding his secrets from her—believing that outside of their cousin that they were the only family they had left so by proxy secrets were pointless and toxic. However, in the fall of 2009 all of this would all collapse when the amulet Hector held ultimately costs him his life.

Seeking to progress their goals and believing The Bronx’s vigilante to be in possession with the amulet they have been seeking for years, The Cult of Khan rears its head into the New York borough and attack Hector Ayala at his home as he is eating dinner with his sister. He is killed, much like his predecessor was and states the same chant that he had heard on his first day to preserve the Jade Tiger. Ava Ayala succeeds her brother as the wielder of the Jade Tiger. In the aftermath, guardianship of Ava goes to her cousin- a SHIELD agent and Bronx native. However, Ava would not forget what she had seen or what she had been gifted with; the retribution of the tiger would be swift. But she would not know in her anger what she had really gotten involved into as the surviving members of the clan who killed her brother report back to their master...

Attributes
The Amulet of the Jade Tiger – Removed from it's sacred temple, the legendary amulet is linked to a celestial spirit that resides in K’un Lun. Whilst imbuing the user with the unique chi of the Jade Tiger and knowledge of martial arts it also grants the attributes of a tiger to the user such as smell, reflexes, agility, and strength. It is said as a link direct to the jade tiger itself it can also be seen when used in unison with other fragments can serve as a gateway to K’un Lun which is more dangerous than the abilities the Jade Tiger grants through their sacred amulet.

Hand-to-Hand Combat – Despite the benefit of being the holder of an amulet of power, Ava has been mentored in martial arts previously by her brother, leading up to his death. This made the transition to using the powers of the amulet more cohesive for her.

Intelligence – While not a genius intelligence, Ava is quite astute and is dedicated to understanding more about the world and other cultures; perhaps due to her dual interests in her own culture and that the Jade Tiger originates from.

Meditation – In order to keep the precious balance of the amulet’s power and her own state of mind, Ava has been known to be adept at meditation, for if she did not find her “center” then the chances of the animistic natures of the Jade Tiger could end up corrupting her.

Physical Conditioning – Despite being a teenager, it is wise for Ava to keep her body dieted and exercised; for if it isn’t the amulet can put massive strain on the body.

Character Goals
The depth of plans go beyond me simply wanting to do “White Tiger” stuff, which I imagine would be a main concern. But what I have in mind here is a character that I’ve taken a lot of time looking into that whilst I’m fairly new to feel like giving a non-Avengers Academy origin by taking nods to several incarnations including the less than stellar animated series that actually introduced me to this particular identity of the White Tiger in Ava Ayala. Stories that I intend to tell will vary from a very vital plot that brings New York together in the form of The Defenders, her origin story which has massive tie-in material to our Iron Fist-centric lore, crime-fighting in the Bronx and continuing a legacy instilled by her elder brother, and of course shenanigans that fall somewhere inbetween.

Sample Post
I can still remember the night where my little idyllic life in The Bronx fell into the shadows of the darkest pits of misery; the night where my brother, Hector, was taken from not only from me but this world. It makes me so utterly angry to the point there is so much hate and rage that I don’t know what to do as I can feel it festering in my stomach like a disease. Hector had always told me that hatred was like a disease, and I understand that now firsthand as I feel it. But what is the cure for such an emotional disease? Every instinct I have in my body tells me the answer, and I’m not sure my brother would agree… no, he would definitely not; because the answer I feel in my bones is taking what has been done upon me and striking out at those who have wronged me – an eye for eye. But where would my brother to disagree with how I feel? He brought down an entire criminal faction that was poisoning The Bronx over a family matter. This is the same; I can feel it in my heart.

What is more legitimate than what is in the heart?

As I think this I reach to my belt, retrieving something from one of the pouches; my eyes gaze downward.

“We looked so happy then.”

I can feel my eyes tear a little beneath the mask, but now is not the time to break— there will never be another time again. Weakness is why I am standing on the edge and Hector is with our parents. If I could’ve been stronger I could’ve stopped that man from striking the last injury my brother received. But that was then and this is now; the people who did this to me and my family will pay and they will receive their vicious justice, I will make sure of that.

I flip the photo back where I retrieved it from, my eyes narrowing in the darkness of the night.

I will find the shadow who escaped me, I will find out who sent him, and I will see justice served by my hands. I don’t know how I will achieve these goals but I know I will, there is no question about this, there is no answer in the universe that will tell me I will not or can not; such things would fall upon deaf ears. The only clue I have is small and my brother’s small logbook of contacts suggest I talk to one Alexander Knox for information going forward; which is exactly what I will do. There is much in-between my current location and Knox’s place of employment, and I have been craving on dealing with the criminals of The Bronx. Is it an outlet? Probably; but it is also my responsibility since donning the attire of my late brother and I will continue his legacy as the White Tiger.

The fight continues, as they say.

NYPD Captain Richard C. "Dick" Tracy

Origin & Backstory

Brooklyn: 1968-1989

Richard Tracy was born in Brooklyn in August of '68. His father Robert was a New York City firefighter and his mother Mary was a schoolteacher. An only child, Dickie grew up in a rough and tumble section of Brooklyn where he learned to scrap rather well. He flirted with boxing as a teen, winning a local golden gloves tournament. never one for schoolwork, Tracy would often cut class and skip school. He managed to graduate high school by the skin of his teeth. With poor grades and from a poor family, he couldn't go to college and knocked around in various jobs before he applied for the NYPD. After making high marks on the exam, he was accepted into the NYPD police academy.

The Two-Two: 1989-1995

Fresh out of the academy, Officer Tracy worked a patrol beat out of NYPD's Twenty-Second Precinct. He proved to be a very reliable patrolman and a calm and level-headed in times of action. He famously chased a murder suspect across six city blocks before catching them just before they hit the subway. The good work in patrol led to an assignment as a plain clothes officer in the Two-Two's Flex Squad, a roving unit that made dragnet sweeps in high-concentrated drug dealing areas. After five years on the force Tracy took the detective's exam and passed with flying colors. He was assigned to Auto Theft as his first assignment.

Gumshoe: 1995-2009

A quiet and workmanlike tenure in Auto Theft led to a stint in robbery and finally homicide. Partnered with Sergeant Pat Patton, Detective Tracy posted a record high 90% clearance rate during his six years in Homicide. After finishing first in the sergeant's exam, Tracy became a squad supervisor in Narcotics, then a promotion to lieutenant and a return back to Homicide as shift commander. Tracy proved to be as good a commander as he was a detective and ran his shift.

Major Cases: 2009-2010

With Tracy's glowing record as a skilled investigator and supervisor, he was promoted to captain and given the reins of a new squad altogether. Named the Major Case Squad, they would serve as a special unit that reported directly to the police commissioner. Ther mission was twofold: Investigate the ongoing influence of criminal organizations in the city and assist with any cases that may involve the presence of metahumans. Given his mandate, Tracy assembled a hand-picked squad and set their sights on Big Boy Caprice, the longtime head of the Caprice Crime Family.

Character Goals

Anyone who is familiar with my character selection in games like this know I tend to play a type. I've always liked the idea of the ordinary man, a true ordinary man and not like Batman, making a stand against the powers that be. Jim Gordon, Frank Castle, Slam Bradley, they are all regular men that are driven by various motives be it justice, revenge, or redemption, and they have their code and what they believe in and they will fight for that. Tracy is very much in that mold. I want to play Dick Tracy as a guy who, while still the tireless crusader, realizes he has to play a little dirty to get justice.

Tracy was one of the big characters I loved when I was a kid. I was little when the movie came out and watching it when I did, like Batman '89 and the James Bond movies, created a lifelong interest in the character that I still have to this day. I want to bring Tracy into the 21st century and keep his crime-busting spirit. It may not be the 20's and 30's, but I think there's a place for a striding champion of justice like Tracy in today's society.

Stephanie Carter/Captain America

Origin & Backstory

Attributes
As the offspring of Captain America, Stephanie has a level of her father’s spectacular supersoldier abilities. She is super strong, fast, agile, dexterous, has incredible endurance, and heals faster than a normal person. The super soldier serum in her DNA also enhanced her mind, giving her keen strategic thinking.

After SHIELD activated her, Steph received extensive training in hand-to-hand combat, marksmanship, stealth and infiltration, and combat tactics. She also was gifted her father’s shield, the one thing not lost with him. She uses it as well as he ever did, and it’s almost like an extension of her mind.

Stephanie’s loadout when in the field normally consists of her shield, a set of specialized combat armor, and Stark-designed gauntlets that fire hardened disks similar to the shield.

Character Notes

Character Goals
As always, I want to tell the Captain America story from a different perspective. While I’ve never been able to get this concept going before, with an established universe and characters, I think I can finally do it. I’d like to do some fun things with AIM and HYDRA, including melding some Indy touches to them. I also have some interesting ideas on what to do with some classic Cap rogues and characters that haven’t been introduced or played an important role in-universe yet.

"You're kidding right?" Hawkeye raised an eyebrow after Captain America finished her briefing. Her and the rest of the team were huddled around the holographic briefing table in the back of the Quinjet as it rocketed towards its destination. "I mean that's crazier than the stuff we normally do. And that's saying something. That's saying something huge. Because-"

"Clint, we get it," Black Widow put her hand over his mouth. "It is a little bit out there, Cap."

Steph looked around and noticed the worry on most of the team's faces. They all knew what kind of mission this would be when Fury handed it to them. Going into Latveria was never a cakewalk, but doing it completely unseen and unheard would be akin to the impossible. Victor von Doom was not a man who wanted SHIELD to know what he was up to, let alone have agents walking around inside his borders without him knowing. But Fury didn't trust Doom's facade of friendliness, and wanted the Avengers to find out what was going on in Latveria.

Doom was smart, however. He had some of the most sophisticated metahuman tracking systems on the planet, and there was no way even the Quinjet's stealth systems could get them over the border. So instead, they were going to pull an incredibly dangerous wingsuit paradrop that would get them inside.

"Any of you have a better idea on how to get inside?" she asked. "I'm all ears."

The team members looked at one another in silence before Ant-Man agreed, "I guess it's our only option."

"I still don't like that I have to stay behind," Captain Atom added from the cockpit.

"You're the best pilot we have, and Doom's sensors would smell you the minute you got close, Nate," Cap reminded him. "None of the rest of us have active metagenes. Plus, you're a bit more adept at breaking things than stealth. You'll be the cavalry in case we run into trouble."

"Understood," he said begrudgingly.

"What the hell," Barton sighed, "I led a good life. Mostly. Okay not really but hell it could be fun."

"There's the Hawkeye we know and generally don't mind too much," Wasp added with a punch to his shoulder.

"Easy for you to say, you can fly," Clint grumbled.

"Cut the chatter and get ready," Steph told her team. "We're nearing our drop window."

Virgil Ovid Hawkins

Static

Origin & Backstory
Virgil Hawkins was born to a rather poor family, his mother a nurse for the Staten Island Hospital Center, worked long hours and barely had time to stay home, his father a STAR Lab low grade Scientist for contract. Because he is back and forth between contracts his time at home varies between, not at all and always on Virgils neck. Virgil himself, relied on the things around him to raise him, which in Staten Island wasn’t much, the gang culture was huge in Staten Island, with the Bloods being a main foothold in the neighborhood. His Grade school days were spent playing around in class, and not listening to his teachers, falling grades caused him to become sort of reviled with the teachers at the school, most of which Virgil himself found boring. Ivan became a Middle school friend who was always getting them both in trouble. Ivan was a violent kid, getting into fights with his teachers, starting fights during lunchtime, but he also had a Charisma that was unmatched, gathering himself a lot of fellow kids who felt that there was nothing out there but what they seen and lived. Soon rumors about Ivan’s Bloods Membership began to spread, Virgil being interested, decided to ask him such, Ivan confirmed this stating he could give him an easy way in…Virgil agreed.

Virgil’s high school like was two sided, one half was spent with the Force Syndicate as their lackey and school dealer, and the latter was the class clown and class Disruptor, Virgil’s actions became more erratic and his penchant for trouble increased, which lead to his sister becoming an increasing part of his life, by this point however, he was already nonchalant to her punishment, and continued on forth. Virgil became much more like Ivan in terms of violence, which only worsened as the Force Syndicate grew in Staten Island. Their crime rate increased and eventually both of them became of higher ranks in the Force Syndicate. During this time however, another gang began to Rise, a renegade group of gang hunters calling themselves the Paris Bloods. Who began to hunt down and brutally attack members of the various gangs in Staten Island. Gang members began to panic, talks of a truce began, and quickly became finalized.

Virgil and Ivan were originally not going to go to the meeting Both Ivan and Virgil finding it pointless to join with the other gangs that they were beefing with, however a few hours into the Meeting Ivan asked Virgil if he was coming along, which Virgil accepted and travelled to the meeting place, the Staten Island docks, Ground Zero is what most of the gang members called it due to it being in the intersection of all of the gang opportunity. The Leader of the Force Syndicate, Leonard Smalls began to speak, stating that the gangs all needed to stick together to fight the oncoming threat of the Paris Bloods, which gotten the right amount of praise. Sadly the Peace Treaty did not go well at all, The Paris Bloods sprang up at the meeting and instantly began to attack, a shootout commenced, and the entire scene ended in chaos. News crews and other interested patrons were quick to cover the situation and not quite do anything about it until the police came. To which They began to fire back, canisters of gas were punctured during this shootout, which quickly lead to it spreading throughout the dock. The Police in Retaliation decided to double up with what seemed to be tear gas, However it quickly lead to disaster. Most of the gang members were killed, either by Gunshot or the gas itself.

Virgil was badly bruised and damaged during the shootout, and was only able to travel far enough to the home of Richard Stone, a fellow classmate who was his constant bully target. His father a former police officer managed to patch and managed to travel home bruised and mangled…

Electromagnetism Manipulation: Static can create, shape and manipulate electromagnetism which (with the exception of gravitation) account for almost all physical phenomena observable to the unaided human senses, including light and other electromagnetic radiation, all of chemistry, most of mechanics (excepting gravitation), and of course magnetism and electricity.
• Electromagnetism: Static can sense sources of electromagnetic energy or objects that can be affected by it such as underground water pipes. He can magnetize and demagnetize metals.
• Electromagnetic Shields: Static generates an Electromagnetic field just like the earth and the sun generate their own Electromagnetic fields. Static can also create barriers and shields that he can use to block, repel, hold back attacks and defend himself in battle. Works very well against Metals, which as above he can use to both magnetize and demagnetize them, Pushing and pulling at his will.
• Wavelength Tuning: Static can hear radio waves meaning he can listen in on the police broadband and music stations, as well as tapping into the phone lines so he can make calls.
• Electromagnetic Levitation: He can use his Electromagnetism to cause Metal objects to fly, this can be anything from a trash can lid to any sheet of metal that can be located.
Electrokinesis: Static can generate electricity from his body and administer it in a range of different attacks and uses. He can charge devices, drain devices and project his electricity in a variety of controlled ways.
• Electrical Displays: Electromagnetic Light Displays that Static can shoot into the sky in the forms of pictures and words. With more power behind it, Static can make these into Electromagnetic Nets and/or Cage.
• Electromagnetic Force Bolts: Static can fire Bursts of electromagnetic energy from his hands for uses like electrifying objects, administering large scale "Static Clings", generating shields and barriers.
• Ball Lightning: Named after Ball Lightning, the weather phenomenon. Electromagnetic Energy compressed into a large ball and thrown at targets; an offensive maneuver in a combat situation.
• Static Cling: Static can adhere most objects or people to surfaces and other objects, plus Static can magnetize surfaces.

Character Notes
Instead of Dakota City (Which I find a bit too small for this Universe.) I decided to set Static and most of Paris City into Staten Island, Mostly to build on NY’s Villian Scene there, and get Static more linked to the NY Heroes so he can interact with them more. The NPC’s are as followed.

Ivan Evans: Virgil’s best friends and confidant went in a differing direction during the big bang, his current whereabouts are unknown.
Leonard Smalls: The Leader of the Force Syndicate has called an all-out war on the Blood Syndicate, and any of its affiliates. It’s attempts to call a truce of the local gangs in Dakota City has failed horribly, and he now has suspicions that somebody from a rival gang ratted out the location of the meeting to the Blood Syndicate. Highly violent and very dangerous he is currently serving Jail time for inciting a Riot and gang Violence.

Curtis Metcalf: Owner of The Hardwired parts store, seemed to be just a normal run of the mill Tech Support man, but there is more to him than meets the eye

Martin Scaponi: Leader of the Five Alarm Crew, he was the only gang leader to leave the Big Bang without getting arrested of his crimes, A known Pyromaniac and racist he has a very specific problem with Virgil Hawkins and other Members of the rival Force Syndicate.

Depending on the population of said Villian and Hero NPC’s I might adjust them to be fully playable PC’s depending on if either myself or anyone else wants to use them.

| Character Goals |I love coming of age Superheroes like Miles Morales and The Blue Beetle, and I thought it would fit perfect for Static, especially since Milestone comics was one of the few comic publishers in the 90’s to really touch on urban issues and even bring them to the forefront. Things like Gang Warfare, Sexuality, Drug use, Self-Image, and even the Rodney King Riots. I want to continue that, but have Virgil be in the thick of it, to create a growth of a character doing something better. One problem with the ghetto is that is not a lot of mentors or guides, nobody that they can look up to. Either they have the TV which only shows guns, drugs, and women, or Hood movies, which show them the same thing, they’re simply doomed from the start with no lack of direction, not helped by the fact of a lowered school system, horrible Extracurricular and I can go on. With Virgil I want to give him another way to discover both his genius with tech (Using Hardware as an NPC to give him the guidance he needs.) and Also other Heroes to show him what it really takes to be a hero, from there I’d love to see how it’ll make him grow. I also want conflict on what he was taught to do and what he is shown now, does he stay with his hood friends and follow their path, or go to something better, it’s never an easy decision even with the perks of the latter and I want to show that.

Sample Post

Maybe it was the crappy way he decided to sleep, with his arms being pinned under his head and scraping the bruises on his cheeks, or maybe it’s the fact the bruises was called by a near turf war over a drug deal gone awry. But Virgil woke up feeling horrible, Most of the bleeding had dissipated as most of them were patched up with bandages. He was able to sneak back into the house without much suspicion; however, that meant that was a lot busy trying to hide the bruises on his body. Lifing his body out of the bed, he groaned in pain as he stepped out of the bed, only to see that his his older sister was up before him. He blinked, The sneer on her face was enough for Virgil to know that he was caught. He groaned, but said nothing turning his back away.

“Nope, not going to work today nigga.”

He groaned again, she was always like this…snooty and fucking overprotective. She was tapping her foot on the ground, just like what they’re mother would do. Virgil blinked and clicked his tongue, thinking of what he could do next. However, he already realized he was trap, she was going to tell dad about his escapabes with Ebon last night, and he was certainly going to be ranted about all day. So in an effort to avoid his current problem, he decided to make a major decision, he would have to negotiate with Frieda Hawkins.

“I’ll handle attic cleaning for a week.”

“Hmm?”

Her eyebrow perks up, However her position did not bulge she began waving her hands, signaling that it wasn’t enough. Virgil groaned in anger, what else could she want. “Look, I’ll work your days at Burger Fool, just don’t tell dad about what happened.” He swear, taking that job from Burger Fool at the suggestion of his dad was the worse thing he ever fucking did. It left Frieda with an instant bargaining chip just in case he got caught doing dumb shit. She smiles and chuckles. “Good morning little brother…” She said in a sickening sweet voice, ignoring his wounds now, and intentionally slapping the bruises on his back. To which he resisted screaming. She then walked out of the room chuckling slightly at the thought. Virgil lifted himself out of the bed, he tried to slip his hands from his bed covers, only to see that they were stuck.

Of all of the fucking…

He attempts to force the covers off of him, but to no avail, his hands seemed to be magically stuck to the covers. He begins to swing it wildly, only to see random items flying about, various CD’s a old lunchbox full of weed bags, and even his lamp. The lamp finding it’s way to clock him across his head, causing him to fall to the floor and the covers to finally become unstuck from his body.

“What the fuck was that?”

Samuel "Slam" Bradley

Origin & Backstory

Samuel "Slam" Bradley grew up in Gotham's East End. A tough neighborhood, Slam was a scrapper and boxed Golden Gloves as a teen. After a knee injury ended his boxing career, Slam went into the only profession that would take a lug like himself: a cop.

Starting out as a beat cop, Slam eventually made detective and worked his way through assignments until he became a sergeant with the GCPD's Homicide Bureau. Partnered with Detective James Gordon, Slam and Jim were among the few non-corrupt officers in the GCPD. Fighting against the corrupt department and the everyday bleakness of the job had Slam on the verge of burnout until the case that killed his career came along.

It started out simple enough, a dead hooker found in a back alley. The case began to spin out of control, implicating a state senator, a high-end call girl service, and half of the city's politicians. The brass tried to bump Slam off of the case, but he refused to leave. In the end, he was dismissed from the GCPD on trumped up charges, accused of fraud because of a mislabeled time sheet. Out of a job, Slam took his connections and investigation skills and branched out on his own as a private investigator. When he's not tipping back a bottle, he works as a PI for hire in and around the city.

Attributes

No powers. Slam is an adept fighter with boxing and police firearm training. He is also a skilled detective with over twenty years experience in Homicide.

| Character Notes

Instead of being the old square-jawed who is a crusader for truth and justice, I made Slam a more gray character. He's an alcoholic who got burnt out on the job. All his friends and family hate his guts. The thing that stops him from swallowing his gun are the cases and the few people he manages to help. Slam will mostly stay on the fringes of whatever shit is going down in Gotham just to keep from stepping on toes. Since the only real DC character associated with Slam is Catwoman I was going to invent just one or two NPCs as Slam's friends and contacts.

Character Goals

I guess my main thing with Slam is I want to just write PI stories. I love the genre and I had fun with the character the last time I played him. I want to keep that going, and I want to continue to showcase the dark underbelly of Gotham that even Batman doesn't go to, or maybe he's not tough enough to go there...

Captain Nathaniel "Nate" Adam, known to the public as "Captain Atom"

Origin & Backstory

Attributes

"Operation: Atom" bonded an alien metal that SHIELD uncovered to Nathaniel Adam's skin that has rendered him virtually invulnerable. The metal acts as a conduit that allows him to tap into quantum energy and gifts him the ability to absorb, manipulate, and project energy from any part of his person. As a result of the process he no longer needs to eat, sleep, or breathe and as such can survive in space or underwater unaided. Atom has strength that rivals that of Superman and the ability to fly unaided. As of yet Nate still doesn't understand his powers, the extent of them, or even the source of them, and so there is some indication he may grow more powerful still for having yet tested his limits.

Character Notes

Character Goals

I thought it would be nice to play a character that would allow for a fair amount of interaction, how better to do that than by applying for an Avenger? I played King Faraday on the old Guild and had some plans for Captain Atom in that game that never really came to fruition, so I thought I'd give it a go here, obviously I've had to tinker around with the concept a little but for the most part the character has remained the same. It'll be interesting to play a character with incredible power at his disposal that's surrounded by people much weaker than his is and to see how he deals with that. "Captain Atom" dominates Nathaniel Adam's life and what little life he had beforehand is all but gone, so again it'll be interesting to see how he copes with that and eventually what type of life he attempts to build for himself when he's not Avenging.

Sample Post

Nathaniel Adam sat alone at a bar staring at an untouched bottle of beer that rested on the bar in front of him. He couldn’t remember the last time he’d drank. “Captain Atom” didn’t need to drink. It didn’t matter anymore that Nate used to enjoy a beer from time to time or some whiskey every now and then. No matter how much he drank he couldn’t get drunk. He could leap into a swimming pool of whiskey and he wouldn’t even get close to being remotely tipsy, let alone drunk. He wouldn’t even need to come up for air anymore. “Captain Atom” didn’t need to breathe. Dugan hadn’t told him that when he signed up for Operation: Atom, SHIELD hadn’t seen any of this coming, but the process had changed him in more ways than one. It had swept away Nathaniel Adam and in his place built a superhero with no need to drink, breathe, eat, or sleep. After a lifetime of needing to do those things it was more than a little jarring to wake up one morning and realise you don’t need to anymore. He was barely even human anymore. At least that’s how it felt.

It was even worse before Nate was capable of retracting his metallic skin. For the best part of a year he was stuck in that form, unable to change back, to see his face without the reflective alien metal that encompassed it. The SHIELD scientists had worked day and night trying to figure out a way to get his appearance back to normal so that Adam could have a life outside of Captain Atom. They worried he’d be driven insane by being constantly awake, not drinking or eating, and looking in the mirror and being unable to see the face he’d called his own for nearly three decades. They were wrong. Nate dealt with it, as he dealt with everything else life had thrown at him to date, by simply embracing his new identity and pushing his old one to the side. He policed the world night and day in search of HYDRA and AIM without stopping for a moment’s break. Eventually after enough testing from Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne he worked it out. You’d think being able to see his own face would make him feel more human but it didn’t change a thing. He wasn’t the same anymore. Life wasn’t going to the same anymore. He’d have to accept that.

Yet here he was sat in a bar alone pretending to be a normal person. The ID he brandished read “Cameron Scott” rather than Nathaniel Adam, but what was in a name? For an hour or two he’d hoped he could sit here, watch the baseball, and pour alcoholic beverages that had no effect on him into his mouth in the hopes that it would make him feel a little more human. He had planned to do that alone until he heard the door to the bar open and Clint Barton, better known to the rest of the world as “Hawkeye”, stepped through and took a seat beside Nate. Without so much as a hello Clint leaned forward and ordered himself a drink, which came a few moments later, and gestured towards Nate’s drink as he took a mouthful of his own.

“Are you going to drink that thing or sit there and look at it?”

Nate sighed.

“What difference does it make? I can’t get drunk anymore.”

“Have you tried absinthe?” Barton said with a smile that went unreciprocated. “It’s not all bad though, I think most people would trade hangovers for the ability to fly unaided and shoot energy out of their hands. I know I would.”

He didn’t understand. How could he understand? Barton was a lot of things, confident, quick-witted, swashbuckling, and brave more than anything else, but his was still a human being. He still got to go home at the day end of the day and lay his tired body down to rest after a hard day’s work. He could drink himself into a stupor, shovel down handfuls of food and feel bloated, and get sick. Nate could do none of that. As much as he might try to make light of the situation or empathise with him he’d never know what it was like to be a walking nuclear bomb rather than a person.

“What are you doing here?”

“What do you think? I followed you.”

There was a cheer from the television screen positioned above them as the batter made contact with a pitch and sent it flying across the stadium. Barton took another mouthful of his drink as Adam shook his head, clearly unimpressed with Barton having followed him.

“Why?”

Barton shrugged.

“You looked like you could do with the company.”

“You should know by now I’m not one for conversation.”

Clint downed what was left of his drink and then made a noise that sounded more beast than man as the alcohol hit him. He placed his glass down on the counter and slid it towards the barman and then gestured to him for another drink.

“Fine by me,” Barton smirked. “You sit there not getting drunk and I’ll do all the talking and drinking for both of us. How does that sound?”

The wry smirk on his face remained there as Nate looked in his direction blankly for a few moments. He knew what Clint was doing. He was worried about him. Was the whole team worried about him? Did they whisper about his lack of sleep? How little time he spent with people? Nate wouldn’t have been surprised. Outside of Janet he’d done little to reach out to his other Avengers since he’d joined the team and he was aware how close some of the other members of the team were. Stephanie and Natasha were like sisters, Clint and Natasha were almost inseparable, and Janet and Hank obviously had a bond that outweighed all of them. Only with Janet did Nate consider himself close. Outside of Hank he didn’t dislike any of the rest of the team, in fact he thought in their own way they were each pretty spectacular, but he’d had trouble bonding with people since the process. What was the point? He wasn’t even sure if he could die. He didn’t want to have to watch the ones he loved wither and die and the best way to ensure that didn’t happen would be not to get close to anyone.

For tonight though Nate would allow it. He was many things but impolite was not one of them. Clint had gone out of his way to follow him here and the least he could do is sit with him for the night. Only because he would be impolite to send him away and not because he was quite fond of him, of course.

“It doesn’t sound like I have much choice.”

A small but sincere since appears on Nate’s face as Clint pats him on the back.

“That’s because you don’t.”

Clint took another hearty mouthful of his drink and, without looking away from the baseball on the television screen, pushed the untouched bottle of beer on the counter towards Nate. Without thinking Nate picked it up, pressed it to his lips, and poured a mouthful of beer down his throat with an appreciate nod. Maybe he’d never be able to get drunk again, maybe he’d never have a hangover or make a drunken mistake he barely remembered the next morning, but these moments, taking in a ball game with a friend, these were the moments no one, nothing, could ever take from him. These were the things that reminded him he was human.

Victor von Doom

Origin & Backstory

1968-1973: Birth and Exile

1975-1986: Love, Loss, and Science

1987: Mysticism and Hatred

1988-1991: Man in the Iron Mask

1991-2000: Consolidation of Power and Clashes with Fantastic Four

2001-2004: Superheroes and Changing Priorities

2005-Present: Change the Future

Attributes
Victor is one of the most powerful sorcerers in the world, rivaling even the Sorcerer Supreme Steven Strange. He was taught at a young age by his gypsy witch mother, and later completed his own training during his years of exile from Latveria. Even while he was honing his mind as one of the smartest men on the planet, Doom knew his mystical arts would be the key in achieving his goals.

Outside of the mystical arts, Victor is one of the finest scientific and strategic minds on the planet. The only man smarter, much to Doom’s chagrin, was Reed Richards. Doom’s vast intellect has allowed him to design his powerful suit of armor, which grants him enhanced strength, durability, various defense mechanisms, infrared and night vision, as well as multiple mystical properties, including splinters of the rumored True Cross.

As monarch of Latveria, Doom has diplomatic immunity and vast resources at his disposal.

Character Notes

Character Goals
Doom is possibly one of the greatest threats there is in comic books. As one of the few PC villains in the game, he’d be able to interact and interfere with any hero that happened to get in his way. I have, at the very least, one incredibly Doom-y arc that I’m going to start with, and see where it goes from there. Doom will believe he’s in the right in this game. He believes in the needs of survival over the needs of keeping people alive, and he’ll do whatever he needs to in order to reach his goals.

Sample Post

Fortress von Doom
Doomstadt, Latveria

The cold winds of Latveria swirled around the parapet as Doom surveyed his lands. Latveria was a gorgeous country, and Doom’s heard swelled with pride as he overlooked the gothic-styled city that was the beating heart of the country. The roofs of the city stabbed into the air like spikes waiting for the gods to fall on them, and behind the city the Doom’s Crest Mountains created a natural barrier that had protected this city from harm in nearly every major war. Doomstadt, and in all reality all of Latveria, was a natural fortress. It was this fact that allowed the country’s vast natural resources and ecological diversity to stay mostly intact throughout the centuries.

Doom smiled at the thought that this was now his. But not only his. The people of Latveria were once again under their own rule. True, he was their monarch, but he allowed them democratic elections for the senate. He listened to the officials when he agreed it was the best course of action. On top of that, he had other matters to attend to outside the running of the country.

“Lord Doom,” a mechanical voice said from behind him. Doom turned to face on of his many mechanica bodyguards and doubles, designated the Doombots. They were as advanced as any robotics on the planet, and were as deadly as nearly any fighting force. “Ambassador Gorzenko has reported back from the Latevrian League meeting. Everything went well, though you absence was noted.”

Doom nodded. The League had been invaluable to stabilizing the region he now more or less ruled. The Soviet rats that had grabbed power here as their ship sank had nearly ripped the region apart, and he and his allies had put it back together. Now they led Eastern Europe towards a golden age the region had never seen. The people were healthier and happier, their economies boomed, and their technological levels quickly were matching the rest of the west.

More importantly, however, their progress struck fear in the rest of the world. Fear kept people off balance. Fear blinded people. Fear allowed Victor von Doom to make his way towards his endgame. Most would see his plans as evil or disgusting. In reality, Doom knew it was necessary for humanity’s survival. They were on their way towards annihilation. They knew it not, but Doom had seen it, and he would not allow it to come to pass.

“What of the search?” Doom asked his mechanical servant.

“One base was discovered in the Alps, my lord,” the Doombot reported. “We can have a force ready to attack it in hours.”

Victor turned back to look over his city and seethed, “No. I shall do this myself. It has been too long since our enemies knew the wrath of Doom. Prepare three guards. I will leave at nightfall.”

Soon Doom would secure the first piece of his puzzle. After that, the rest of the pieces would fall into place quickly. In the end, Victor would have all he needed to do what needed to be done.
