"...a dream that became a reality and spread throughout the stars" — Captain James Kirk
Welcome to the newest attempt at a small(ish) group Trek game. The setting is Roddenberry's canon universe, not the newer Abrams-verse. Soon after the Dominion War, before the homecoming of Voyager. The game will be centered on one ship and it's crew, at least at first. Interested but not sure if you know enough about Trek? Worry not; as our game's living Trek databank, I can either answer any question you'd have, or be able to point you to a wiki article that'll have the answer.
As a way to interject unpredictability into the game, I (as the GM) hope to avoid taking a major role with the Starfleet crew. That way I can write as Admirals giving orders, Orion pirates, Klingon warriors, Romulan Tal-Shiar, etc, etc.
Questions/comments? Always feel free to ask me here in the OOC, or shoot me a PM.
IC Details
- Ship is the USS Artemis, Sovereign class.
- The story begins soon after the Dominion War; Starfleet finds itself torn between it's mission of exploration and the recent call for greater militarization--it's become the greatest internal political debate of Federation history.
- The Dominon War has cost Starfleet most it's experienced Captains and crew, as well as it's best ships; the only known flagships to have survived are the USS Defiant, and the USS Enterprise.
- The Klingon Empire was hit hardest by the Dominion War out of all Alpha Quadrant powers; many within the Empire point to the "destructive nature" of an alliance with the Federation as the cause. Though they are licking their wounds and rebuilding their Empire, many believe the Klingon Empire has never been this dangerously unpredictable since the days of Kirk and Spock.
- While the Romulan Empire came out of the Dominion War in the best shape of all Alpha Quadrant powers (given it's late entry into the conflict), the Empire was soon brought to it's knees by (as most believe) a group of Reman terrorists. In reality it was the classified Shinzon incident that extinguished the Romulan Senate and it's leadership. That it was a Starfleet Captain and crew that saved the Romulan Empire from utter destruction has been covered up by Starfleet, and mostly forgotten by the Romulans.
- Starfleet Academy has yet to return to a normalized graduation pace; Cadets are still being trained and pushed out of the Academy at War-time speeds. What used to take four years, now takes one and a half.
- The current year is 2382.
OOC Details
- Currently I am the lone GM for the game. I may be looking for a Co-GM later on, so if you've got any interest, feel free to let me know.
- Disagree with the GM/another player on something? Send me a PM, don't air out dirty laundry in the OOC.
- Be respectful to your fellow players. It's incredibly important we all feel free to give input in the OOC, that everyone feels safe to share any idea/concept they have. (So it's as collaborative as possible.) Jerks and control freaks make that difficult. So be cool, like the Fonz. 'aaayy.
- The game standards are somewhere between Casual and Advanced.
- Post unapproved Character Sheets in the OOC. Once approved, post them in the Characters section.
- Have an odd character request? Want to work in something from your character's past into the game story? The more I can say 'Yes' to players, the more fun the players tend to have, in my experience. I'll always try to make something work, just send me a PM about it.
