Battle Style
Though he may be light and furious, Bang Constantine is neither the fastest nor the strongest. He uses both wit and tactical strategies to overcome his opponents. The young pugilist lacks far-ranged weapons of any kind by default, and even when he stands right in front of his foe, he requires absolute focus on who he is facing. His lack of magic powers ultimately keeps him unbelievably alert; whether he manages to follow his alertness is up to him. Depending on his opponent, Bang is either extremely offensive with high speed and mobility or defensive to the point where he could punish crucial mistakes with few powerful attacks.
Signature Abilities
Exturbo Charge (Passive Ability): Bang can receive and deal up to thirty successful attacks before Exturbo fully charges up.
Quagmire: Bang must not be performing an attack to use this move. At far ranges, the boxer ducks or side-steps to dodge a straight-moving projectile as he moves forward or backward. When up close to an opponent, Bang will prepare a defensive stance before his opponent attacks. If the opponent throws a physical attack at him, he will pretend to get hit by the attack before delivering a body blow while propelling himself towards the enemy. Quagmire can only be used on the ground. If the opponent sends a projectile at him within close range, Bang will simply try to dodge the attack as if he were at a far range.
Phantom Punch: Bang throws a phantom punch. The phantom punch is capable of interrupting opponents that leave themselves too open to fast attacks, and can also be used to confuse his opponents. Phantom punches are regularly thrown within less than a second, meaning that one would need to anticipate Bang using a Phantom Punch before he throws it. Bang usually Phantom Punches when he is sure that his opponent becomes impatient and tries to use a powerful attack on him, as its deceivingly fast speed can catch certain targets off-guard. Phantom Punches do not leave Bang that open, making it a good ability to keep a fair distance from his close-range opponents.
Horizontal Dodge: Bang spins around as he moves either left or right, dodging an attack. While this ability does not bring him closer to his opponent like Quagmire does, he has a much higher chance of dodging attacks. He may immediately interrupt a Horizontal Dodge with either an attack or another Horizontal Dodge.
All-Around Sweep: Bang slightly crouches and pushes his torso forward, swiftly punching an opponent before pulling back and punching another opponent. This is his only attack that is designed to attack multiple opponents, but it can also be used to attack lone foes.
Dempsey Counter-Cross: Bang directly deflects a physical attack before delivering a diagonally-directed uppercut. Though DC-C is rarely used against defensive opponents, Bang tends to pressure any target into using up their stamina before using it. As a move itself, DC-C is not the most ideal counter attack due to how open it leaves Bang after the attack, but when it is actually used successfully, it can stun opponents and leave them in a dazed state due to the sheer blunt force of the attack.
Overhead Blast: Bang attacks his opponent with an overhead punch. Best used on an opponent getting back up from the ground, the overhead attack can knock the wind out of targets quite easily, but leaves Bang open to attacks from anyone that is not on his side.
Haymaker: Bang dashes forward and delivers a haymaker. If the first Haymaker connects, Bang can immediately follow the attack up with two more Haymakers. A good attack in general, but leaves Bang open if he completely misses the attack.
Clutch Break: Bang rams himself into a target, grabbing them before delivering a quick onslaught of body blows. If the target does not free himself/herself from the grapple, Bang will proceed to punch their gut before uppercutting their face.
Berserker Rage: An attack learned after Bang faced a terrifying fighter known as “Baxton” (a monstrously skilled Normalish that managed to bring down many Espers and Magicians with one punch) in a boxing ring. As a move specifically designed to ignore pain, the attack can put both Bang himself and his opponent in a physical state of jeopardy. A key trait of Berserker Rage is that when it initiates, Bang will glare at the target he plans on using Berserker Rage on before clenching his fists as tightly as he could. If Bang is already at a distance from his opponent, he will propel himself towards the target with extreme speed. If the opponent does not move away, or plans on counter-attacking, Bang will clash his gloves together before challenging his opponent in a “rock-paper-scissors”-esque duel. He will throw out a maximum of fifteen steel-crunching uppercuts, each uppercut being able to be dodged but are nearly unblockable. If the attack is somehow blocked, Berserker Rage instantly ends. During this attack, Bang will automatically counter close-ranged attacks with one of said uppercuts, and will ignore the pain that projectiles sends to him if they do not incapacitate him immediately. If Bang misses all of the uppercuts, his stamina will falter, but if he manages to land one uppercut, he may or may not stop attempting to use Berserker Rage. Bang himself rarely ever uses Berserker Rage, making it a very strange circumstance should he ever decide to use it.
Exturbo: Bang’s signature attack. Bang delivers a single powerful uppercut with immense speed. Exturbo can only be used when Bang successfully attacks his opponent enough, or is attacked enough by his opponent. Multiple usages of Exturbo is extremely rare, is it takes quite a long time for Bang to gather enough strength to use it. Exturbo can be connected with nearly any of Bang’s attacks, allowing Bang to perform mindgames with his opponent. Its unpredictability, however, can only be used when it is actually present in the first place.
