@Holmishire ... Thank god. I was getting scared nobody would vote for it, despite it probably deserving the most. Now it is AT LEAST at the same number as the others that have received votes. Haha.

I've always been fond of the more "epic" short stories.

If this continues as it is now, though, we may have an enormous tie on our hands for the inaugural contest. If I remember correctly, the largest for WotM was three? Though two-way ties were quite common.

Well, we were kicking around an idea to let people vote for first-place, second-place, and third-place -- which would've made tiebreakers much easier to handle. But the poll button isn't cooperating at the moment. If @Mahz can get it up this weekend there's still time to implement it, but for now the tie is essentially broken.....

To do this manually is a bit harder and a bit more confusing but, if anybody cares to throw in ONE runner-up piece per voter (as in, you pick your favorite, and then pick one more if you want to), I think we can use those as tiebreakers, in the event the voting becomes deadlocked again. We'll have to see how many total votes are handed in, but I think we might do at least first-place and second-place trophies.

Also -- if you submitted an entry, and you don't want to vote because that might hurt your chances of winning, that's totally fine -- you can cast just a tiebreaker if you like, and I won't count it unless there's a tie to break. Just specify that in your voting post so I don't mess it up.

Our opinions lined up a lot. I liked your points on Go West -- some good tips that I glossed right over. But it's good reviewing all around, worth reading for sure.

Thanks, I definitely borrowed some points you and others had made to add on with mine and tried to add on to them as much as I could. So many entries. This was a marathon of reviews!

My vote is up on the thread. In addition to it, I'd like to add that Kings was a very close runner-up. Great rhythm and image-based poem. Voting in this contest was very difficult.

I would like to thank everybody for their praise and criticism on my poem. It means a lot since the topic of it is really important to me and to my whole family. And I want to say to everyone else that you guys had awesome entries and are truly inspiring.

Seeing the very helpful reviews made me realize what I thought in the back of my mind; that my stories were a little rushed and definitely too raw. I did do em in roughly a quick run each, I think 20 minutes to an hour? I hope I can devote myself to putting more effort into stories I write in the future, but a nagging lack of devotion has me convinced otherwise xD Thanks again for all the helpful reviews and for confirming my suspicions and errors

Hey folks, looks like the voting/critiquing is winding down -- we've got RPGC #2 underway in the planning phase and very tentatively expect to be ready to go around the end of next week -- so if you haven't voted yet, or if you have any more discussion to let loose here, try and have it all done by Friday the 17th. I was kind of vacationing for a while and got lazy. Not that reviews require a tremendous effort (especially my reviews), but I hope y'all can understand anyway. But I'm back and also red from head to toe. What better time to continue with reviews than when you can't move or go into the sunlight?

we're working on the next theme presently. Next weekend is the target for all deadlines -- voting, winners, new stuff. Not sure if we'll hit all of it but that's the goal.
