What a lovely person indeed, Jack...
I can't say I don't have characters as bad or worse, but I also am not sure whether I'd enjoy actually playing them for extended periods of time... More so they are people who just surface every now and then in solo-writing, provided they don't get themselves killed sooner rather than later. ...Not all get what they deserve, though. Dhiraijk, canonically, lived to ninety-three, for instance, and he is one of the worst purely human characters - if not the worst purely human character - I have. But I'm digressing, as I'm wont to do.
- By the description, I assume he might have woken up quite close to where my character and the lot are? And... Yeah, and I don't think my character would like him much ... neither as the nice one who was once "a good hard-working country girl" Sarah Downwell nor as the more sinister thing she might become if the in-character happenings steer her that way.

(Not all sociopaths are terrible people, though; most are perfectly decent individuals.)

I was hoping that he could have woken up near there, yeah. And I fully expect the other characters not to approve of him, at least if they start to realize what kind of a person he really is.
And I know that not all sociopaths are bad people; a certain creation of mine from another RP was an entire species of sociopaths, you may recall, and I specifically pointed out that not all of them were bad, either.
Fitting though the label may be, however, Perfect is not just a sociopath... at least not in the meaning I attribute the term. Although "sociopath" and "psychopath" are often used interchangeably, I'd say Perfect is probably more of a psychopath; bold, uninhibited, incapable of empathy... yeah, toss in a bit of sadism, and we've got ourselves a merry little fellow.

The psychopathy-comment is more simply something I point out every now and then whenever someone labels a particularly disturbing person such (as was done in one of the comments in response to your character sheet)... Mostly because I have met people who are actual medically diagnosed sociopaths, and hence the popular media's portrayal of them just somewhat bothers me (as is also the case with many other things).

I would also like to know if characters are allowed to attack one another. Because even though Maldron is a heartless assassin, he still has standards. And looking at some of the character applications, some people could use some death.

I thought characters attacking one another was ... kind of to be taken for granted in this RP (although you'd have to follow your usual rules for engaging a played character - no autohits or -kills without prior agreement, respecting your fellow roleplayers and communicating and so forth).

@Dark Jack Oh my, I like it! Add to character tab and post whenever you feel ready! What a perfectly vile character ;)

@Ashgan Take as much time as you need.

@Laue Allowed? Goodness, yes. Encouraged! As Shievnien mentioned though, we should adhere to standard combat rules should you wish to attack another player (i.e, no insta-hits).

(Only I can inta-kill ;))

(Edited.) Made a short post; still playing around with the style of writing I'd like to assign her.

Laue, I hope it was okay that I went before you?

My post is due within the next five hours, provided my parents don't suddenly spring some kind of errand on me or I don't faint from lack of sleep. University life decided to try to kill me, recently.

However, I don't THINK I'll be having Oblivion interact with anyone just yet. Ah, and please don't expect a spectacularly long post or anything like that despite my lateness on posting ;;. I actually just have an outline and general flow up right now.

And post complete!

Let me take a moment to make a few notes...
  • So it seems a King is involved in many of our backgrounds. Contrastingly, only queens and princesses seem to exist in Oblivion's memories, but there is also mention of two kingdoms as well as at least three of our characters being assassins or involved with assassins.
  • The idea is that Oblivion is unwittingly walking toward the group with the Turncloak
  • The Silencer following Oblivion reacts to anyone's voice, but it reacts most strongly and most swiftly to the sound of song. It's just a big hater :V

@Komamisa Oooh, delicious. Did you have any ideas for what The Silencer would look like? I feel like it should be the first addition to the Bestiary.

@NewSun Well if it only responds to sound and music, my first guess for design is that it would be blind. Something like this. But as to whether it's bipedal, quadriped, humanoid, animalian, whatever, that's anyone's game. I'm high 'n dry on ideas right now.

Oh I have a post up by the by

There was a flaw in her stance, and at this distance, she would be skewered by the halberd before she could move away, should the knight attack.
I somewhat doubt that statement, as I stated she is staying at roughly six meters' distance (or around twenty feet) - or more than three times the presumed length of the entire halberd and more than enough to fit a larger sedan between them the long way and still have some space left. If the knight were to attack, she'd get away if she dodges rather than blocks - at least initially. What happens later is fully open-ended, however.
Maldron is right about her stance, though - it is not a good one, and her axe as a weapon weighs too much to be used half as effectively as an actual battelaxe would be, even if it would still hurt as bad as you'd expect if she actually were to hit someone. (Probably strongly underestimated the weight of the thing in the CS, too - I am good with distances and sizes, but if there exists such thing as weight-perception, then I don't really have it good ... I always estimate things much lighter, including when I am holding them in hand. If I remember to, I'll just weigh my own axe or look up one that looks roughly right and has weight mentioned, and adjust the CS accordingly.) If she were within range of being stabbed by a polearm, then safe to say, she most likely would be stabbed if the person had the faintest idea what they were doing.
As another sidenote, though, getting skewered fairly often isn't the end of the fight - plenty of records of sword-duels continuing after one gets run through, or in newer times people getting stabbed or shot multiple times and still defeating their opponents. Adrenaline is an extremely potent painkiller, amongst other things. (People are likely to die from those injuries all right, just later...)
Oh, and another note: armor doesn't always protect from impact-damage as well as slashing damage. Maces and similar, if you manage to hit the head, are rather sure way of downing someone wearing a helmet.

- Just some random thoughts.

@ShienvienOr Maldron sometimes overestimates the capabilities of others, namely speed. I'm just trying to justify my fuck-up

@Laue:
Eh, no reason to be ashamed of messing a thing up every now and then.
As for me - and that goes for everyone - feel free to point it out when I am writing something that looks off, be it linguistically (though I will note that I do tend to mistype a fair bit, including skipping and replacing words on accident, and often only get to proofreading a while later ... some mistypings are pretty reoccurring, too, despite me knowing that these things are not exactly right) or functionally (as long as it is not my characters misunderstanding something - my characters know about as much as I think they logically should, and on occasion I intentionally have them draw wrong conclusions and know things inaccurately).
I may not necessarily agree with all criticism, but if it sounds reasonable and I can find other unrelated sources that seem to back it, I'll probably try to take account of it from that point onwards. (And, well, how am I going to improve if people never mention when I am doing something wrong?)

Another note on using an axe such as hers (or really any unconventionally heavy weapon) for weapon - the initial hitting speed will barely suffer. It is the rewind, or drawing back to a strike- or block-ready position that would be atrociously slowed down. - In essence, she'd perhaps be able to get in one good swing - though her inexperience and the weight of the weapon combined mean that she'd probably signal her attentions quite a bit more than someone experienced, especially if the experienced person also had a lighter weapon -, but then be left painfully open for attacks for a short but crucial while after.
There are ways how she could at least reduce the penalty from the additional weight of her weapon of choice - reposition hands on the handle a bit, use different swinging-patterns, so forth - but she doesn't really have the expertise to do so. She is only skilled in using the axe as a tool, as well as some other "destructive" tools, but little to no skill with weapons and proper fighting.
She wasn't all that wrong in countering polearms, though - if you only can, you should try to grab a hold of your opponents', as it is likely that it would effectively disable it and reduce the person to using their sidearm. How to accomplish it, though, is a different matter, and not all that easy. With a short weapon, even an experienced fighter against a fairly inexperienced spearman could have quite a bit of trouble.

@NewSun:
Hmm... This RP seems to be moving in a bit different pace than I am used to; was not quite expecting another time-skip just yet. Did Turncloak rest, drink, or eat at all between the original scene and this rest (if he's human and this world follows roughly the same rules in terms of needing water he should be dead if that were the case)? Would he at least accept food and drink from others?
Speaking of which - going by Maldron's thoughts - should we assume the needs of our characters be the exact same as in the living world, or is there variation? (With my character, at least now, I've assumed there is no difference from how she would be in real life, minus the thus far comparatively slight alterations to appearance and body structure. Her back can bend more and her shoulders are a bit more "loose", as well as there has been some slight increase in strength.)

Jack's character would have to do a bit of catching up now ... he was in the hotter part of the canyons, at least when he first woke.

@ShienvienYeah, apologies fo the time-skip again. There was a lot of dialogue building up and I needed to diffuse it before it got out of hand. It won't happen again for some time though, promise :) I assume that the Turncloak did indeed find some way to eat and drink a small amount between scenes, as all characters involved would have done.

In terms of character endurance, I leave that specific detail up to you. Characters such as yours that have undergone... less than wholesome changes could, in theory, survive for longer without food or water; where appropriate, of course.

@NewSun: Diffuse the dialogue? Why? Unless it was just dragging on indefinitely without getting anywhere, I don't personally see a reason for it... Right now it just felt awkward more than anything, breaking the conversation up and leaving open ends like that.

(Eh... and I have to think a bit on what do do with the other characters in relation to mine. Would they talk and try to interact, or just ignore one another? @Laue? @DJAtomika?)
