Okay guys, this has been a thing I've noticed for a bit - but maybe it's time to tone things down a bit. yes? What I'm talking about is the long posts. I know this is high casual, but I don't think the long posts are really necessary. They're sometimes necessary, but in the middle of the interactions? Not really. A short meaningful post is just as much as a long one.
Not trying to fuss, but early on, I think the RP can benefit more from it.
I'm going to start Adam's class next post. Bear in mind what I said.
Rose is a mature woman, whose very presence feels earthy. Her brown hair is considerably long for her age, and falls in wild curls beyond her control. Whilst she was incredibly slender in youth, time has changed this; most of her figure was lost when she became pregnant with her son, but the depressive phase she endured following his stillbirth caused her to gain further. She is also relatively short, which makes her more plump figure more obvious. Regardless, she is confident in her own skin and as a result her beauty shines. A true English rose, her dark hair is contrasted by her pale skin and pink cheeks. She has maintained her teeth wonderfully, which lends her a warm and welcoming smile, bolstered by the constant twinkle of her eyes. Rose wears more 'natural' looking make-up that complements her skin, aside from on her eyes where she likes to apply darker eyeliner. Rose also has quite big ears, though they are usually buried beneath her hair. They are much more noticeable on the rare occasion her hair is tied up. In general, Rose is still pretty; her features are almost feline in nature, and she has a natural grace to her.
Attire:
Rose is a fan of long, flowing garments and airy materials, which trail behind her as she walks and make her seem to glide. She likes to drape her frame appropriately but doesn't like to be too hot, so this 'look' is more of a practicality than a desire to portray herself in a certain way. That said, she was a bit of a hippy in her day and the prints of her clothes often reflect this style. Rose usually wears comfortable Birkenstock sandals, but these are often covered by her long skirts. The colour palette of Rose's wardrobe is wide, but staple colours include black, red, green and brown. She has no tattoos, and whilst both her earlobes are pierced she only really wears earrings for more formal occasions.
Personality
Innate & Outward Personality:
Rosaline is notoriously chirpy, warm and seemingly carefree. She is the type of woman who is up at the crack of dawn, cooing "Good morning!" to her groggy neighbours over the garden fence as they collect their post. She is frustratingly capable in stressful situations, and will usually say something to the extent of "Oh well, these things will happen!" in the midst of disaster, before carrying on with a confident smile. Needless to say, to certain types of people, this can soon become very tiresome. What is perhaps more irritating is that Rose is seemingly oblivious to the fact that her campy persona might be annoying. Of course, like most people who seem 'too happy', Rosaline has experienced darker periods. Losing her baby and becoming infertile robbed Rose of an outlet for her strong maternal urge. As a result, this grew out of control and she is immediately loving, fussy and protective of any young people she meets; determined to fulfil some sort of mother role for them, particularly if they don't have parents of their own. A large part of this can probably be attributed to the loss of her son, husband and parents; she is alone in the world, and needs to feel loved. She achieves this through being constantly warm, friendly and loving to anyone she meets, desperate to not feel quite so alone.
Hobbies/Interests:
Rose fulfils many a cliché, and some of these include the ways she spends her freetime. Rose has a ginger Persian cat named Winston, whom she dotes on. She loves spending time with him and speaking to him. Aside from her feline companion, Rosaline is also an avid gardener; even in the winter months, she is growing plants indoors. Rose enjoys painting in both acrylic and watercolour, but this is where her artistic abilities end; her favourite things to paint are lush, green landscapes. She also loves her job, and takes great enjoyment from helping people to find happiness. Rose is something of a philanthropist and is known to arrange charity fundraisers or volunteer on events. Generally, Rose is a fan of anything that keeps her busy, even chores.
Skills/Talents:
Rosaline's biggest skill is her ability to help. She is a great listener and takes great pleasure in helping others solve their problems; and as such, she has become very good at it. She is good at staying calm and takes a very relaxed and carefree attitude to life; she rarely keeps to a schedule throughout the day. Rose has a definite greenfinger and can grow the best flowers, fruit and vegetable most people have ever seen. She's good at painting realistic landscapes, but her other creative work is decidedly amateur. Rose is an excellent cook and often includes her own produce in her recipes. She is very clean and tidy.
Prized Possession:
Winston, her Persian cat. He is seven years old and is ginger. Rose has had him since he was a kitten.
Quote(s):
"Good morning!", "Oh well, these things happen!", "Oh, jolly good!"
History/Bio:
Rose was born Rosaline Carter to parents John and Hannah in the rural village of East Wickham, outside of London. She spent her youth growing up in the English countryside and surrounded by animals and agriculture; her grandfather was a farmer for whom her own father worked. It was a closeknit family of which she was the only child. She attended the local Girl's School, where she was known for being a bright and cheerful character who extended a hand of friendship to all.
As she grew older and into her teens, 'Rosie' became Rose, and she found herself in the company of hippies. They danced freely to the music of Fleetwood Mac and the Grateful Dead, smoking marijuana and living vegan lifestyles. Rose was content, and it was in this circle of friendship that she met her first and only love, Eddie Marsh; that scrawny man with his tousled red hair and his loving green eyes. As they grew up, most of the friends went their separate ways, as is natural. But Eddie and Rose, by this point very much in love, stuck together as they left their days of hippyism behind them and progressed into adulthood.
Eddie worked as a carpenter and Rose a teacher at the local primary school, and within five years or so they were happily wed. Unfortunately, Rose's father passed away the following year, but he died happy having seen his daughter marry the man she loved. Her mother moved in with her and Eddie, as the couple didn't like the idea of her living alone with no other children to care for her.
Meanwhile, Rose and her husband were trying for a child of their own, and soon enough were delighted to discover that they were expecting a beautiful baby boy. They decided to name him Archibald John, after their respective fathers whom had both died. They painted a nursery together and Hannah provided them with the very same cradle Rose had slept in all those years ago. As the due date drew near, love and excitement was rife among the household.
But it was not to be, and poor Archie was stillborn. It ruined Rose, and she spent several years suffering with post-natal depression. To add insult to injury, the resulting complications from her miscarriage caused her to become infertile, and so much of her dark period was spent dwelling on the fact that she would never experience true motherhood. Over time, however, the first flowers of hope began to bloom. Of course, she would never fully recover from her loss... But the wounds were beginning to heal, and Rose felt like she could begin to move on with her life, much to the joy of her husband and mother. She even began to warm to the idea of speaking with Eddie about possibly adopting a child.
It was a conversation that never emerged, as other things began to take centre stage in the couple's life; Eddie was diagnosed with cancer, and it was the beginning of a slow decline for the man she loved. She had emerged stronger from the loss of her father and son, and stood by her husband every step of the way. As much as she longed for him to survive, she knew deep in her heart that it was not to be. Every day Eddie grew weaker, and every day Rose accepted a little more that she would one day lose her husband. The day he died, she was neither shocked nor traumatised; in some ways, it was a welcome relief from the pain he had suffered over those dreadful final years.
Naturally, Rosaline mourned for some time. But, like every disaster life threw at her, Rosaline discovered that this is all just part of the ride; "these things happen," her mother would tell her. Rosaline never looked for love again after the passing of Eddie, and she and her mother lived together for the remainder of Hannah's life until she died in the early 21st century. Alone in the world, but now much older, Rose sought out any hobby that might distract her from the pain of the losses she had suffered through her life. She found her one true solace in gardening, and would spend many a day wasting away the hours in the sun.
It was around this stage that her abilities manifested, and Rose began to discover she could influence the plants she grew in a way that was not human. She kept her abilities to herself and continued pottering her way through life, until she discovered an advertisement for a flower competition in Black Fall, USA. She felt compelled to enter, and did just that. Soon enough, she was on a jet to America, and what she thought would be a week long visit became a trip she would never return from.
Whilst in Black Fall, Rosaline discovered Academy 218 and her teaching credentials secured her a job. She has worked at the school for several years now, longer than many of the staff, and has extended her qualifications to offer free counselling to students in need of support and guidance. She lives on-campus at the academy with her cat, Winston, and has never looked back.

Abilities
Power Class:
Elemental
Power: Florakinesis
Rosaline has the ability to control plantlife with her mind. She can use this to manipulate existing flora or to grow her own from scratch, if the conditions are right. She can heal any plant of disease and restore withered flora to a healthy state. She can cause plants to grow at an accelerated rate, often further than they would naturally be able to grow. Rose also claims she can talk to plants, though it is not confirmed whether this is actually a power of hers or not.
Limits:
Rose can only grow 'natural' plants from scratch; she can't create her own species. When she manipulates plants, she does so using her mind; the plants themselves have no sentience, and therefore she cannot cause them to uproot and walk around to do her bidding. She can only manipulate plants to do things they would naturally be able to do, such as grow, bloom or heal. She can cause plantlife to grow up to twice the size it would naturally be able to reach without issue, but any further growth corrupts the plant and quickly causes it to die.
Weaknesses/Drawbacks:
Her powers work best when she is happy, and so a bad mood can render her temporarily powerless. Furthermore, a shift in emotion can also affect the plants around her, which react to her feelings. A sudden burst of elation would affect plants positively whilst a bout of anger or depression might kill of surrounding flora; as she cannot control this she consider it a drawback. Plantlife is highly flammable and can quickly be burnt away with fire. All standard methods of killing plants also apply, such as planticide or use of blades. She can't grow plants anywhere they wouldn't normally be able to grow, such as in concrete or stone; however in a desert she would be able to grow cacti, for example.
Quick thing; don't have your characters immediately get through the obstacle course in one post. I'll have Diego and Lupe do something later, but otherwise, you guys are on free mode. Feel free to tackle things as you please.
Sorry I haven't posted yet. Just like @Heathen I've been stupid busy. I should be able to get a post up today. I was going to have Kana be late to class, but since someone already was would you rather I make her late or just not have talked until this moment in the class.

Hey as far as Adam's ability to copy other powers goes what happens when there is a power that can't be observed with the human eye like sound manipulation, telepathy, or like another person's ability to copy powers through a different medium.
Lucy Parker | Eh | Roomie | "I can tell that me and the roomie ain't gonna get along. I dunno why the school pairs me with the annoyin' ones. Hopefully her silence can be bought with a punch to the face!" |

Yes.
And seriously? Lucy's not that annoying.
Michelle interprets her as that annoying. But, I guess separating yourself from your character doesn't come to you that well, eh?
