[center]This thread is subject to change.
News:

Tearstone is now my Co-GM.
---

The Tempest is the first of its class, the EX-305 and the first British vessel under the control of the Royal Navy tried and tested in the late months of 2013 and then prepared for launch in January 2014. While her design is based upon that off the BC-303 it was changed significantly by the designers in the United Kingdom, and is the first ship to be built outside of Area 51 as the British decided to use their own resources and facilities. It is designed to be a Research and Exploration Vessel in contrast to the BC-304 which was designed specifically for combat leaving the niche wide open for ships such as the Tempest and several more are already being planned. However though she may not be designed for combat duties the Tempest is still fully capable of defending herself with four dual 4.5 inch Mark 8 Naval Gun Turrets, multiple railgun positions and six missile silos complemented with eight F-302s.

This ship is the epitome of Asgard and Human Technology. With the latest shields, hyperdrive and computer systems all complemented off with an Asgard Computer Core in the centre of the ship she is the most advanced thing to be constructed on Earth since the Ancient known as Orlin managed to build a Stargate out of a Toaster and some wire. It is the only vessel built on Earth to have a Stargate wired into the ship, the gate itself is from the Pegasus Galaxy so that it becomes the priority gate in orbit of any planet so that if the ship is in orbit it can be resupplied directly.
IRC

Thankyou to Ellri and SunderedEcho at Coruscant Aftermath for sharing their IRC channel.
The Tempest has a simple mission. She will go out and explore planets in the Milky Way whose gates are inactive, if anything is of worth on the planet the ground teams will attempt to activate the Stargate so that a link can be set up to Earth and a science/research team can be sent through the gate on a more permanent basis. However smaller items that could be dangerous can be brought aboard the ship for research at the Captain's discretion.
This offers several roles:
Military
As a standing member of the Military you can be doing a multitude of duties. Army members make up the five ground teams whereas the Navy makes up the defence teams, gunners, chaplains, psychiatrists, medics, doctors and all the other members who serve their tours aboard ship.

They are lead by the Colonel of the vessel who is the commanding officer, a due to the size of ground operations they are lead by a Lieutenant and a Sergeant. However the Colonel does have overall say, however when on the ground unless necessary to call for advice the Lieutenant is in charge of whatever operation is being performed.

Civilian
As a Civilian you are a leading member of your field of expertise this includes but is not limited to, Doctors(Medical), physicists, astronomers, chemists, biologists and psychiatrists(For those not willing to go to a military shrink). You are the smartest of the smart and all play a role on the ship, each researcher is part of or leads a team, teams are made up specifically for missions. Though in the end it all comes down to the Head Researcher who is in control of all the scientists of the vessel. Scientists share labs with scientists either A) Working on the same project or B) Works in the same field of expertise.

However the Head Researcher is equal to the IOA representative.

Available roles are below. In the application process select one.
Units titled (NPC) can be replaced by players as necessary and can be controlled by anyone.

If you are wishing to apply, follow the layout below. There is a layout for both military and non-military personnel. Note, the only Tok'ra aboard have already been selected and there are no other aliens aboard. All military members are British except for the XO. Research Personnel while mostly from the UK can have members from other countries. Roles and Ranks are above Appearance can either be an image or a description, or both.

I will be accepting no CREWMAN characters at this time. Applications are only open for Ground Team and Research personnel.

All roles EXCEPT for the IOA representative are OPEN for ANYONE. E.G. You can apply to be the Captain if you want.

No Sex.
No Romance between Military Personnel as this is a deployment and if anything happens it will be found out.
No overuse of foul language, I can see characters having the need but don't overuse it.
I am God, even if we are on a planet/arc I am letting you have.
If you are going to be active forewarning is required, otherwise you will go on the kill list.
Military Members: Act like it, if you are military and do something that is against the rules your char can be sent home.
Use your COMMON SENSE
Have fun.
Collab Sheets

Collab sheets are down right now.

If you need to collab just mention it on the OOC or do it via PM.

Though we're casual, so just post on the thread.
Important things to remember:

Researchers can only access terminals in their own labs, if you go into someone else's' lab you can only use the computer if they have unlocked it.

The Head Researcher and Captain are the only two with access to the Asgard Core and are the only people who can give access to it.

The bridge can only be accessed by the bridge crew, Head Researcher, IOA Rep, Section Leaders and the Ground Commander(s). Everyone else needs permission.

Engineering is off limits to all but authorized personnel. Clearance must be requested from the head researcher - Ship Engineers already have access.

The hanger is off limits to all except flight staff, officers and pilots unless authorization is granted.
Technical Specifications

Length: 200m
Width: 120m
Height : 65m

Weaponry:
30x Railgun positions.
6x Missile Silos
4x Dual 4.5 Inch Mark 8 Naval Turrets.

Tech
This ship has some advanced technologies such as:
Advanced Human/Asgard Shielding.
Asgard Beam Transporter(Off ship)
Ancient Ring Transporter (Beam to other Ring units or straight up/down a maximum of 50 metres).
Asgard Power Core
Multiple Naquadah Generators (Not all plugged in, mainly for backup.)
Asgard Computer Core
Asgard/Human Hyperdrive.

Positioning

Gateroom: The Gateroom is at the front of the ship, far away from the other important rooms.
Most rooms between the Gateroom and the engine rooms (Funnily enough AT THE ENGINES) is full mainly with Labs, Researcher quarters a gym and two mess halls.
The Quarters nearest the Stargate are for the Ground Team members to ensure that they can defend the stargate and have easy access.
The Hangers are obviously positioned (Hosting 12 F-302s between them), both hangers have quarters for pilots and deck crew. The engine space is largely off limit except to engineers and researchers, between the two hangers there is also quarters for the main engineers.
The bridge tower has quarters for the rest of the ships crew, as well as another gym, two mess halls and the officers mess. The officer quarters are at the top of the tower below the briefing room.
Directly above the briefing room is the ships bridge.

Yes, we'll do the same here.

As mentioned prior to DB loss, we'll be going with a young female Lieutenant who is in secret one of the Tok'ra.

Military

Name: Astridh Nic Shitric | Eydis
Rank: Lieutenant | Senior Deep-cover agent
Role: Tactical officer. Prefers to stay shipboard. Basic medical training | Infiltrator
Unit: Tempest Crew | Tok’ra.
Age: 25 (born January 6th, 1989, Ireland) | 1928 (spawned sometime in year 14 AD, unknown location)
Gender: Female | asexual, prefers female hosts and considers self female, but will not get mad if referred to as male while in a male host.
Sex: Yes, please.
Appearance: Neither thin nor thick, Astridh is in remarkably good shape for someone her age. As she has been a Tok’ra host for the past six years, she looks considerably younger than her twenty-five years. For this reason, she has at times had trouble with soldiers ranked below her not believing her rank. Physical prowess (a good, formal thrashing) has convinced them otherwise.
While her hair is pale golden blond and is typically tied back to be out of the way, her eyes are cold blue. She has the pale skin common to those of norse descent. She keeps her hair cut relatively short, but long enough to easily tie back.
As clothes go, she either wears a functional uniform or a shipboard jumpsuit, both with appropriate insignia.
Astridh is 158.3 cm tall.

Reason chosen for Tempest: Skill. She has proven remarkably skilled for her age, both as a soldier and as an officer. Her loyalty to the royal navy has been found to be without flaw. There is nothing on earth that could cause her to betray it.
Personality:
As Tok’ra, Astridh/Eydis has a complex personality. There are traits common to them both, traits only one has, and even some things they do not agree upon. While Eydis could have forced Astridh here, it goes against every belief she holds.

They are both very private and do not share much about themselves, preferring to keep quiet. While Eydis can be a bit social, Astridh has never been all that comfortable in disorderly crowds. Unlike most Tok’ra, they avoid, for obvious reasons, using the distinctive Symbiote voice trick.
The three primary goals they both have are simple:
- They seek to save the Tok’ra from extinction
- They want Eydis’ presence to remain a secret.
- They wish to do as good a job in the Royal Navy as they possibly can, so long as it does not interfere with the other two goals.

While fairly uncomfortable with Social reaction, they share an ability to focus utterly on a job, even if it is noisy around them, be it tactical planning, passing orders on to troops, treating injuries or reading books. Astridh is inherently against cruelty to others, whereas Eydis will at times be open to using whatever force she deems necessary, much to Astridh’s chagrin.

They are also very patient. They know that while it would be nice to complete the task quickly, sometimes patience is rewarding in itself. Naturally, like all Tok’ra, they both hate goa’uld, and are distrustful of any goa’uld that have gone over to the “good” side, demanding far more of them to prove their loyalty than most others will require. A few years of good behavior do not weight up for centuries of bad behavior.

So far as politics go, Astridh could not care overmuch. Her family, when they were still alive, never had a habit of caring much about who had political authority over whom. As a member of the navy, she prefers clear-cut chains of command. As such, she is not overfond of civilian posturing or civilian oversight. Eydis on the other hand, is fairly good at politics. She's been infiltrating goa'uld power structure on many occasions, manipulating events there and elsewhere. She might've been on the Tok'ra high council a few times, but she is not there now, nor has she been recently. As such, when it comes to politics, Astridh prefers to stay in the background.
Notes:
Astridh regularly takes a naquadah suppressor injection to hide Eydis from detection by other symbiotes or former hosts.
Nobody except the Tok'ra High Council knows she's Tok'ra.

Appearance:

Name: Alyssa Aldurren

Rank: SGT :(

Role: Automatic Rifle(wo)man

Unit: Tempest Strike One

Age: 24

Gender: Female

Reason chosen for Tempest: Elected by her commanding officer

Personality: Alyssa is always cheerful and looks at everything from the bright side. However when in Dire situations she is completely rational and realistic. Born a natural leader she is the perfect Lieutenant. Being friendly and kind to everyone but if you annoy or oppose her prepare yourself for her tongue is sharper than any knife.

Short Biography: Alyssa has been working in de British army at the age of sixteen. Mocked by all the boys, she had a hard time establishing herself. After two years in service it became way easier for her as she developed faster than any other boy who did the same training. A sharp eye and steady hand made her an excellent shooter. Her physical strength increased and became on par with the average men and she was faster than most of them. After spending four years in service she finally reached the rank of Sergeant and was immediately send on a mission in a foreign country. Countless missions followed from building a base to recon and firefights. Alyssa reached the rank of First Lieutenant at the age of 23. Not long thereafter she was sent on another dangerous mission. She barely made it out alive, trying to save as moony comrades as she could instead of running away and saving at least herself. On her return she heard she was being awarded a Medal of Honer for saving that many lives. Awaiting the ceremony she got a letter saying she was recommended to join the Tempest Project Program by her commanding officer. The only downside was that the departure date was the same date as the date of her Award Ceremony just a few days after her 24th birthday. Alyssa not present on her own ceremony, left Earth to serve the British Military on the H.M.S. Tempest.

Marrow, if you access your browser cache you might be able to recover it. Depending on browser, you might need an addon to access stored web pages, but it might be possible to get it recovered.

anyways, the answers Sep had yesterday about nationality were more or less as such:
Characters (other than the XO, which is American and is there for teaching and advisory purpose only) have to be British. Or Scottish. Or Irish. Or Welsh. Basically: they have to be from a nation it makes sense for to serve on a vessel in the British Royal Navy. While many other nations are allied with Britain, they still have their own navies and need really good reason to serve on navy vessels not belonging to their own nation.

Dual citizenship is one way to get around that, but even then (s)he has to be extremely exceptional to be assigned to a secret vessel. People of dual citizenship might end up having problems with loyalty to two governments and might have to spill secrets to the other.

Sep: You know we'll include that line in our CS when we post it anyways, right? Its too fun to mess with not to.

Right. Two problems now, the Army isn't a school. You don't just "exchange" army. You can sometimes work with others in terms of two squads working together but you don't actually swap over.

Second, to join the British military you have to be a citizen for at least... ten years I believe. Seriously if you are dead set on Dutch just mention having a dual nationality, and you simply joined up in the British military OR.. You were in the Dutch army, did your term and then enrolled in the british army as an officer.

So you said CO would be better huh? OK, challenge accepted ;-P

Name: Alexis West

Appearance:
Alexis stands 173 centimeters tall. While by no means physically weak, her frame seems rather skinny. She keeps her blond hair a few inches short of shoulder length, using it to partially cover the scar that starts close to her right eye and goes all the way below her ear. Her green eyes are always ticking checking out her surroundings and hardly ever still, only when she gives someone her trademark piercing gaze. She is not a fan of distinguishing herself from the rest of the crew and welcomed the uniform green jumpsuits worn on Earth ships, most of the time wearing one of those.

Rank: Captain
Role: Commanding Officer
Unit: EX-305 HMS Tempest
Age: 41
Gender: Female

Reason chosen for Tempest:
Previously a CO of a Trafalgar-class fleet submarine, Captain West is most capable of acting on her own without contact to higher ranks. Her record shows she is very good at utilizing the stealth capabilities of the submarine for precision strikes, a skill that was deemed very useful on a ship not primarily designed for combat. Taking a lesson from the US, the Royal Navy opted for a submarine skipper rather than a ship captain due to the three dimensional nature of combat in space. The fact that West has next to no family also played in her favor

Personality:
Alexis is fairly silent person, preferring not to speak at all unless there is something of value to be said. She's calm under pressure and believes that optimism is caused by lack of information, giving her an overall cold personality. In private life, she only keeps a handful of true friends. As far as work relationships go, she can be tough and expects only the best from the crew, but in return she always fights for them and gives them relative freedom in their jobs, counting on her staff to know what to do. Captain West is rather fond of coffee, Swiss chocolate and and Sci-Fi literature, although her interest in the last has somewhat dropped with her new assignment.

Short Biography:
A daughter of a Czech immigrant and English small company owner, Alexis' education options were limited by her family's financial situation. Her father died in a car crash in her early years, further adding to the need to support her family form early age. As such, she joined the BRNC at the age of 18 and graduated on the top of her class. Her first assignment was a sonar service on board a destroyer. During NATO war games, she was able to predict the movements of enemy submarines with astounding accuracy and her ship made the major contribution to the list of destroyed targets. Following that she took special interest in submarines, studying their tactics. This did not go unnoticed by her superiors. With her cold and calculating mindset, she was offered service on board one. In the next round of drills, she managed to help shed a pursuing destroyer by guiding the vessel directly between it's two propellers. With her good performance, she was permanently transferred to the submarine service. Initially West was not considered for command, but when her CO got incapacitated during an operation, she took charge and completed the mission, earning her own sub.

However when she was forced to take command during a drill when her CO was incapacitated, she demonstrated enough skill and was given her own sub. She is single, never married.

You'll have to go on to explain the Submarine edge a bit more. It is VERY rare for a woman to be assigned to a Submarine. Typically they are male only roles simply due to the close quarter situations.

All right then, Dual nationality was an option but whatever works.

Sorry for being complicated but playing by Logic and Military standards it makes sense that there wouldn't be other military members.

You are right, sorry my brain wasn't working. Also I should point out that if you go to the commander role you will not be frontline. Are you okay with that or do you want to simply change rank and be frontline? Also as LT you are the commander of all the ground forces. A SGT. Is your second, though I'm willing for someone to apply as a 2nd LT as your second. If you want to stay as a LT that is.

Q: What's the status of SGC? I assume we'll have some contact (Sending stuff back to earth etc.), who's in charge there? If the game (can't remember the name) is to be considered, then Sam Carter was promoted to general and given command of SGC in 2011.
