Boom gave out a sigh of relief as they finally found the fountain. Here, he would surely gain knowledge relating to Dingle which he could use to his own advantage. When the time came. Though he was still puzzled on 'For a Good Time Call' that was carved into the fungus infested tree.

However, they were finally at a place that was somewhat safe. At least safer than the rest in these forsaken woods, and safer than the Kokiri Village and Sinkhole would ever be. Well, to Boom anyway on that last one. The kokiri kept his bag safely slung over his shoulder as he walked around, examining the various things about this ruined fountain.

There were many things wrong about it. But, there was something that Boom needed to investigate. "Hnnn, you thinks what I thinks?" Boom turned his head to the side as he gave a quick nod. Skittering towards the moss covered statues, he pondered upon a most important thing.

Treasure. Treasure was shiny. Treasure could be exchanged for more and new bombs and bombchus. Treasure was a motivator for people, and could be used to influence people to stay away. And, treasure was in fact shiny. Boom glanced up at the moss and filth covered statues as he bared a fanged grin.

If he remembered his stories right, then surely these statues would have treasure. And so, Boom peered carefully at the statues, looking for any sorts of cracks or displacements that would equal treasure.

"Cooooome oooooouuuuuut..." Boom spoke directly towards the statue, well the treasure he assumed was there anyway. For who would want to clean a statue if there was no treasure involved?

With dramatic aplomb, No-Point cracked his knuckles. "Address the fountain and the statues, my friends!" he stated in a tone implying they were anything but his friends. The warlord walked up to the boulder with glorious purpose. His unique talents would be necessary here.

He crouched down and weaved a hand underneath the boulder. His other hand went around it. With the boulder in a bear hug and with a mighty roar he pulled the boulder a foot into the air (Terrifyingly Powerful, yes I misspelled boulder).

No-Point was monstrously strong but not even he could move a boulder like a pebble. With a few wobbly steps, he moved the boulder away from the entrance and dropped it with a thump.

"Behold, shelter!"

CLEAN the statues?!? But they were perfect as they were! If anything, they weren't fungus-y enough. If this fairy thought that Mycellium would help REMOVE the fungus, it was clearly mistaken. No no, more fungus was the answer! MORE FUNGUS! all over the statues the spores went. Make it perfect! Make it pure!

Task 3 Completed!

With the boulder moved out of the way, you can see clearly into the cave. Now you have some shelter for when night falls. The faint trickling of water can be heard in the dark recesses of the cave. Maybe you can find whatever's dammed up the fountain in the cave?

Task 1 Complicated!

The blast of fungal dust sticks to the statue like thick sludge, obscuring the statue's innermost layers in a pâté of yeasty slime. Whoever tries to clean the statue now will have his work cut out for him.

Task 1: Restore the Statue (Difficulty Increased to 36)

Eugh! That damn Scrub just ruined the statue even further! You're gonna need to make multiple attempts to scrub this thing clean!

Task 2: Replenish the Fountain (Difficulty Decreased to 8)

Now that you see the other side of the fountain, figuring out what's blocking the water looks a bit easier. It still appears to be a toss-up between those fungal growths and those rocks blocking off the entrance.

Task 4: Explore the Cave (No Difficulty, results dependent on score)

It looks like this cave continues further in. Maybe you can find something useful in here? It'll be damn difficult to see anything without a torch, though!

No sooner had No-Point dropped the boulder than the deku exploded into a fungus-inducing frenzy. Well then. "Do that once more, and this boulder shall make its permanent residence in your skull!" the warlord threatened the deku.

Now, with that out of the way, he got in behind the fountain to take a look at why it was jammed. He was already carrying this team, and there was no way in hell he was cleaning up that statue. He poked his hand inside and extracted a clump of mushrooms that had been lodged in the mechanism. The water burst past his hand and began to fill the fountain once more.

"...Okay yeah. This is actually LESS horrible than dad made it out to be."

Rummaging through her backpack, she pulled out more of the bottles she'd used to help Boom during his bombing run. While not exactly good for combat, these explosives worked wonders on rock and collapsed ruins. Case in point, she tossed a number of the Tingle Bombs into the rubble in the now-exposed cavern, shaking her butt and spinning around before raising her finger skyward, stopping while she faced the party.

"TINGLE! TINGLE! KOOLOO LIMPAH!"

With the last word of her incantation, the bombs exploded, the blast blowing her hair forward.

"BY FARORE THAT ALWAYS MAKES ME FEEL SEXY!"

Task 2 Completed!

With a very cathartic rushing gurgle, water flows freely into the fountain's basin, filling it up in seconds before slowing to a gentle halt. The sheer convenience of the water's motion is all the evidence you need to know that there is some magic left in this fountain.

The fountain now joyfully bubbles with cool, crisp, clear drinking water. Strangely, you can see both the bottom of the fountain and your own reflection perfectly in the water's surface. Now that you've got both shelter and clean water, this Fountain feels like the one safe place in the country other than the Fortress. There is still work that needs to be done, however!

This water looks astonishingly clean, all things considered. Maybe you can use it to clean the statues? (Double any roll for Task 1.)

Mycellium let out a low groaning growl noise, backing up against the statue. The fungus had allowed them to reclaim the fountain. There was strategy in that. But the statues... They would not be tainted with this spring water! He made his stand there. Another terrible roaring noise. No way it would let them take this single bastion of purity away!

Boom hissed out, "The treasureses. It lacks it." Glaring at the newly covered spore statue, the small kokiri pondered for a moment. Perhaps he would give glancing at it another shot. "Keeee..." Boom hissed out once more, as he reached his one of his hands into the water. Casually, the kokiri tossed some water at one of the statues to see if he would locate any detection of treasure.

Of course, it was highly spore infected and Boom did not manage to get it through. Perhaps he didn't toss the water right, or that he was not searching correctly for treasure.

Either way, Boom hoped they'd eventually go to Nu-Goro soon. He had plans and machinations in the making after all. Plus he needed to restock his bomb supply, and the Goron tended to make good explosives.

Task 1 Partially Completed! (Difficulty 36-16= 20)

A splash of cool fountain water seemed to do just the trick! Despite the fungus's horrendous thickness, it sluices off like oil wherever the water hits! Though there is still plenty of fungus to go, it doesn't seem like as much of a Herculean task anymore.

Drawing her cutlass, Dingle readied herself. This was a technique that Ingo had taught her in order to defeat foes nonlethally... and strip paint off of fenceposts.

"GARO NINJA BULLSHIT TECHNIQUE..."

She ran past the statues, seeming to vanish for an instant. In a flash, she appeared on the other side, sheathing her weapon once more.

Task 1 Partially Completed! (Difficulty 20-7 = 13

Chips of solid fungus fly off as Dingle's blades make their mark. Sure enough, most of the damage has been repaired! The faint glow of whatever lies beneath the fungus can be seen. Whatever's underneath is almost certainly worth something!

Your eyes turn to the chips of fungus spread across the ground. Though they are fuzzy with mold, they are as solid and dry as wood chips. You feel that this fungus will burn quite well and quite brightly. If nothing else, you now have fuel for a fire, or a torch.

Raisa ignored the complaints of the silly fungus. They had a job to do and he wasn't helping at all, she was half tempted to dump him in the water. However it was best to deal with the fungus first, a close look revealed something glowing underneath. Well Dingle wasn't the only one who had bull dung techniques. "Gerudo hidden dance, First Strike!" She shouted and her form breifly flickered before returning to normal.

Mycellium stared in horror as the fungus was removed from the statues. He let out a horrible cry, as if pained by the cleaning process. In fact, it did pain him. He was part of the fungus, he felt what it did. And this was awful. He wanted it to stop. He began letting out more and more pained screeches. He was practically pleading.

Boom glanced at the statues for a moment. Whatever laid behind it, would prove useful. Perhaps it'd be useful anyway. "It continues to speaks only paaaiiiin." Boom noted to himself. He gave a quick nod, "Pain, only pain." He peered at the fountain, while barring his fangs as his maws were slavering. "Curses to the Guardian!" He hissed under his breath. The creature was saddened by the fact he was unable to explode this place. Well he could, but the destruction it brought would not nearly be as devastating and charred by fire and shrapnel as he'd like.

Plus it'd probably risk his survival, among the meat-shields. Low on explosives, Boom could not act on that particular desire.

Quickly the diminutive creature hoisted back its bag upon his back. Pondering for a moment, Boom knew, since he couldn't engage in wanton destruction, he instead needed to expand his myriad amount of knowledge.

The kokiri skittered towards Dingle and poked at the Great Fairy's leg. "What does it do?"

Task 1 Completed!

At last, the final hunk of encrusted fungus falls off, revealing the statue beneath. You feel rather disappointed, seeing your prize: a shabby-looking statue roughly-hewn from granite, holding a smoky, scuffed glass sphere engraved with a set of wavy symbols. The only spectacular thing about this "treasure" is the way it's humming!

Though the process of cleaning the statue was oddly cathartic, it didn't seem to do anything to help the fountain. It appears that the unveiling of the statue has done something, looking at the cave's interior. A harsh, angular series of glowing red lines has appeared on the cave floor, extending further into the cave's mouth. It seems you won't need a torch after all!

Task 4: Explore the Cave (Results Dependent on Score)

Now that the cave is illuminated, navigating it should be child's play! Add 10 to any roll based on exploring the cave.

Boom's question seemed to be answered. Well it wasn't answered at all really, but Boom's attention was drawn to something new. The cave, it was lit. And before it had a boulder hiding it. And when the boulder was removed, it had only darkness. Boom had heard many stories about magical places that seem to become lit for no apparent reason.

That meant treasure. And treasure meant Boom would have shiny things. Precious things. Precious things that were shiny. They would belong to Boom, and if there was an abundance of shiny things. He would easily have something to trade for the far more important explosives, when he hit a trader that could supply him with it.

"Keeee! Blesses us the fireses." Boom squeaked out in a devoted delight. As such, he removed his attention from the Great Fairy and to the cave. The kokiri quickly skittered into the cave, looking for anything shiny pieces of treasure.

"Well, Kokiri, this is... it's my home. The Fairy Fountain of the Forest. A place of healing, safety, and peace for all who come here."

She knelt down, putting a hand on the cap of the fungal deku.

"Bastions of purity and kindness. The fairy's way of caring for the world. And... in this fucked-up world, that includes the fungus. Provided you're not going to spew it in my face."

Roll result is 15: a very good score

Thanks to the light provided by the cavelights, hunting for treasure is a snap! As you follow a particularly-inviting trail of red light, you manage to snag some choice treasures!
  • Three full, edible-looking morels. Their caps are an earthy brown, and they are hard to the touch.
  • A handful of small metal discs, most likely ancient coins. Useless, though they clink together pleasantly.
  • A large, juicy beetle with an iridescent shell.
  • Two pouchfuls of unknown powder. It smells like sulphur.
  • A scintillating shard of glass. It is glowing red and is warm to the touch.
  • A blue gem worth five Rupees.
Boom has found...

Up ahead, it appears the red line branches off into three separate passages. One leading to the left feels uncomfortably moist, and you can hear the soft gurgling of water further beyond. The one in the center is fairly nondescript, though there is a large amount of unusual fungal growths coating the walls. The one to the right is unusually dark, even with the line's light shining along.
Which path do you choose? Multiple people can take different paths, and can roll to explore any path they want.

The Kokiri was most satisfied with this bit of haul. These were all useful things, that he promptly stashed away in his bag as soon as he collected them. Though he did keep out one of the treasures; that succulent and juicy beetle was much too tantalizing to leave alone. After all, Boom had not eaten in awhile. And fighting against part of the horrid Guardian, along with extensive travel, took a toll on the creature's stomach. Boom's maw was slavering, as he hungrily stared at the beetle.

"Wriggles and writhes." Boom sang out with a cheerful childlike glee. His ravenous looking eyes stared at the beetle as it tried to wriggle from his grasp. With a malevolent grin, Boom plucked his right thumb and index finger on one of the beetles legs. With a quick flick, he snapped it off, watching as the beetle desperately tried squirming away even faster.

But of course it was to no avail, as Boom chuckled at its suffering. "Twists and turns." He plucked at another of the beetle's legs as he sang his merry tune.

Of course, while torturing the poor beetle, Boom was checking to determine if it was safe to eat. He knew those morels looked edible. However, Boom craved flesh, and would prefer to save the other rations to devour later. He hoped the bug would be safe to eat, because it did look so delicious. And so the end result of Boom's antics was that the beetle had only one leg, that it flailed about in a pathetic manner.

It was then Boom focused his attention to the three directions in the cave he could go. He found himself drawn towards the left path, where the sound of water was coming from. Water was good, as it gave drink. But of course, water could mean fish. Succulent and slimy fish. The things would flop about, desperately trying to escape, only to eventually be devoured and torn apart by Boom's fangs.

The kokiri now felt the urge to eat fish, alongside or instead of the beetle. And if the beetle wasn't safe, Boom could always use it for bait for fish. Or drown it in the water. Or smash it somewhere.

So with his thoughts on possibly finding fish, Boom traversed the unbearably moist path, keeping an eye out for other things that were shiny and valuable looking. After all, he could not pass up finding any other delightful baubles and things.
