Kronshi What Am I?

I feel that I should argue that nobody should have a real idea of where Arastoph is hiding. They heard a gunshot, which is so loud it is difficult to trace in the first place, and his voice, which just came from a general location. He could've moved since then.

So it seems a little odd to me that in the single second he was visible, they were able to see him, think about their action, then both shoot him. In addition, nothing has been said regarding his actions. Just seems weird to me.

edit: woop, your IC edit ninja'd me. Still, the point stands. :P

Sorry, I assumed that he moved into view and he at least had to be pretty close otherwise the pellets would have spread to far to do anything

He did, just very briefly. He was behind cover, threw the pouch while he was still behind cover, and shot at the pouch just as he was coming out. It's just that I don't think the mind will be able to process that action fast enough to react and retaliate accurately in that span of time. Unless they were trying to predict his movements, but these are crossbows and take forever to reload. Prediction shots would be a waste of time and ammo.

@Spoopy Scary
Your post wasn't even up when I was writing mine, I simply thought that when he had revealed himself that he came out from hiding.

Ah, I understand! It happens; but to answer your question, no, he was still hidden.

He didn't budge an inch from his hiding place, though. He doubted that the looters would actually have mercy, and would shoot him with the crossbows at a moment's notice. While his pleas sounded remorseful and desperate, Arastoph said them with but a look of annoyance on his face, and was fingering the ammunition pouch in his hands. If anything, perhaps he could play the knight's code of chivalry into his hands and receive protection under him. If the knight decided to take responsibility for the actions of a "frightened and desperate survivor", then he had an opportunity. To either escape or stay alive long enough.

That has to be pretty volatile gunpowder to go off from being shot at.

Hot metal, high pressure, lots of friction - all it takes for a shotgun shell to go off is for the hammer to strike the pin.

I guess it depends on what the subject is. Arastoph isn't gonna try to seduce anybody any time soon, so she'd win a seduction contest. However, the merchant has made a career off bargaining with others.

@Spoopy Scary A better question, is how much extra do you think we can get if he used her as another way to 'sweeten' a bargain?

Negotiation+Seduction

We might as well pimp her out for money; it isn't quite outside the realm of the lows Arastoph would stoop to.

And now after reading the IC i just want to say, with no intent to offend either player of DM, but I think you are severely overestimating the abilities of our characters. That, or you are making enemies way too strong. Having the Mage and the archers die was nice but it seems like Carver can't land a single hit while you are hitting him, or hindering him, every turn.

And with the party again split and reinforcements on the way it seems like we are again given the choice of flee or die.

Well, he said that we were not supposed to be able to win the first scenario, which we are technically still part of. I do kind of agree with dragon on the whole not landing hits thing, but on a realistic side, it is pretty hard to hit a compitent swordsman on a one v one.

I think the whole intention was for us to flee the situation. As he stated before, we have no chance against the main force. I doubt this is an isolatrd scenario, as much as a national crisis we are involved in. The only way for us to further the story line is to reach the next area.
