Hey now, at least we did it in a stylish fashion. And they bought you time. A lot of time.
and you lost ALL your belfies in the process! xD
i can imagine how rae must have explained that to their relatives: Rae: "I know I lost your son and his brother under my command, but... at least they went out with style!*smileyface*"
Insofar as I am aware, Imperials have yet to arrive, but COMPFORCE will probably be there soon -- the ambush so far is bounty hunters and assorted thugs, and therefore are not military. @mdk can correct me, however.
Yeah. Maybe one or two COMPFORCE types mixed in with the gangs, but this is purely a 'wretched hive of scum and villainy' thing just now. The firefight is taking place a few blocks from the escape ship -- we need to get everyone on the shuttle, but we're only as quick as our slowest hutt.
edit: but enemy reinforcements will be here soon, and then life will be really miserable.
As a note, Hutts are surprisingly fast movers if need be; those bellies are muscular, though lots of hutts let themselves go by the standards of their own species and are no longer that spry.
Bear in mind that this is the first time I ever participate in a Star Wars RP, and my knowledge of the universe is not very deep, hench my backstory might be a little vague.

Appearance: A quick summary of Saleen’s physical appearance would be a healthy and strong frame, perhaps a little amazonian in appearance. She adheres to a regime of heavy physical training, and thus has a medium to heavy frame. She is by no means a bodybuilder, but has gained a visible sturdiness from her training. Strong arms, strong back, and stronger legs which might give her a slightly bottom heavy look. She is very tall as well, standing at 6.1ft in height.
Her hair is golden blond, and she usually has it in the form of a ponytail.
Equipment: Saleen carries a lot of personal gadgets and home-made armor. The base of her attire consists of a simple yet flexible skin tight and elastic jumpsuit that can withstand the vacuum of space, and also offers decent protection against the elements, be it heat or cold. Over her jumpsuit, she wears an assortment of different plates of duraplast armor latched and bonded onto her suit in a rather crude fashion, consisting of mainly five pieces, a helm, a chestguard with pauldrons, a pair of heavy gloves running to her elbows, and a pair of heavy boots running up to her knees and a pair of heavy cuisses protecting her front thighs.
She wears a series of thick duraplast plates as opposed to a full set of armor. While the plates don't cover as much of her body, they are considerably thicker than normal bodyarmor. She can shrug off most lower caliber shots that hits her armored plates without much worry, and can even survive heavier fire as well. Her jumpsuit however offers no protection if hit.
Her helmet is a heavier version of a pilot’s helmet, with sloped armor running out across the sides of her face into the shape of a rising eagle, and a blue, one way shaded visor in front. She has a camera and flashlight attached to the side of her helmet, enabling her to record the battlefield and relay information back to a central command, or store it for use or analysis later. Out from behind her helmet flows a large, white ponytail that runs down to her back. It is not her actual hair, but artificial hair attached to the helmet itself for no other reason than vanity. Her helmet also has a connection to a small oxygen tank built into the back of her chestplate in the form of two redundant plastic cables.
The metal’s default color is that of a darker gray, but parts of its surface has been painted abyss black, with silvery lines running in intricate patterns across the plates. At the base of her belt in front, she wears a blue loincloth hanging from her lower waist.
Due to her background as an artist, she also spends a lot of time decorating her armor. The concept of camouflage is alien to her, as she values appearance over disappearance whether it be on the battlefield or in social circles. This can be seen in the delicate and intricate patterns that she so often paints on her armor, or the animal feathers that she uses to decorate her underlines of her shoulderpads with.
Weapons: - Heavy Repeating Blaster(main). Her heavy Repeating Blaster is her prime weapon of choice. It requires two hands to wield, and can be attached to her specialized energy backpack with a cord to remove the need to switch individual power cells. Like her armor, she has painted her weapon as well and embellished it with intricate symbols and designs of silver on a pitch black surface. It has an in-built targeter connected to her visor that enables her to see where she is aiming even while firing from the hip, thus eliminating the need for aiming down sight unless hit by an electromagnetic blast.
- Slug-thrower pistol. Her sidearm is a slug pistol that fires physical bullets as opposed to blaster rounds, and uses a high caliber. Only has eight rounds.
- Her melee weapon is a small, jagged and electric machete that can be electrically charged to stun opponents upon touching a conductive surface.
Gadgets: - Rangefinder. Essentially a more future version of a set of binoculars which can zoom in on distant targets, as well as have a nightvision and thermal mode that can be toggled on or off. - 3 smoke grenades and 3 neurotoxin grenades at the bottom front of her chestplate. They look dangerously similar. - Ammo backpack. Carries a jet black backpack overfilled with energy cells for her blaster. Heavy, unwieldy, but carries enough energized death to fight to fire for a long time. Can be connected directly into her repeater through an insulated cable so that she doesn’t have to switch individual energy cells during battle. - Her boots are magnetic, and she has small thrusters attached to her armor that enables her to maneuver around in zergo-G environments. Thrusters are too weak to work in normal gravity however.
Strengths: - Is heavily armored from the front and somewhat from the sides. It is from behind that she is the least armored, as her jumpsuit is mostly exposed from the beginning of her lower back and down to her knees. - Her suit can operate in hostile environments and without oxygen for minutes. This renders her immune to most chemical and biological attacks, and she can walk outside of spaceships. - Has a lot of utility items.
Weaknesses - Values appearance over camouflage. Stands out like a sore thumb a lot of the time due to her liberated artistic soul. - While she is strong, she is still weighed down somewhat by her excessive equipment and armor - Lacks real training. Prefers to overcome foes through superior firepower or brute force.
Background: Saleen was born into a rather boring upper middle income family on Coruscant, sharing the space with only her older sister. Very early in her life, she decided that she wanted to become an artist, and so convinced her parents to let her go to art school at the later stages of her education. She managed to enter one of the more prestigious art schools on the planet. But she often got into arguments with her peers as she had a tendency to criticize their work rather verbally, and she took grave offense at the slightest unfavorable murmur towards one of her own projects. This went to the point that there were episodes where she engaged in fights with her fellow students and even smashed their projects. This got to the point where she once proclaimed the destruction of an large glass construct by one of her fellow classmates, as an act of art itself to show the futility of life itself against the currents of change. Most of her fellow students did not share her perspective, and Saleen eventually got expelled from the school.
Blaming her failure on the lack of personal inspiration rather than social etiquette, Saleen wanted to get some inspiration for future artwork and decided that dangers and adventure was the way to go, as she had ‘learned’ through the consumption of a great volume of books and movies.
Deciding that she wanted to become a mercenary and bounty hunter, she bought herself a blaster, a cool leather outfit and went straight to the outer rim with only a brief goodbye to her parents, telling them she was on an art project.
Her confidence soared after the success of her first mission, which consisted of guarding a spice shipment, with a rather hefty pay. The fact that absolutely nothing had happened during the actual mission short of a near crash with another cargo freighter didn’t stop Saleen from taking the success as a sign that she was a natural talent within the mercenary business.
Her second mission did not go as well. Emboldened, she signed up for a bounty to take down a jedi and his padawan on a desert world. However, the mission failed when the jedi lured Saleen and her fellow bounty hunters into a rancor lair, and the whole bounty ended with a team of terrified bounty hunters with Saleen in front running away for their lives whilst screaming on the top of their lungs!
After failing her first bounty mission, she decided to go back to armed escort services instead. Her third mission was therefore to guard a large fuel shipment on the same desert world. But when the shipment was attacked by raiders, a fight broke out between the mercenaries and raiders. The raiders ceased their attack however when a stray shot from Saleen’s blaster set off a chain reaction among the fuel tank and blew the entire convoy up, throwing mercenaries and raiders skyhigh! Saleen was badly damaged during the explosion, but managed to limp back to a speeder, return to the nearest settlement, and get a ticket off-world before her customer could learn what had happened to his shipment.
After that mission, Saleen decided to invest in her own personalized suit of armor and weaponry, and took on a series of other missions with varying degrees of success. Up until that point, her only contact with the rebels had been through sporadic and mostly uneventful encounters with their people. She usually steered clear of them, with the exception of one mission where she was hired by a local to trash a bar that was secretly used as a hub by the rebels, resulting in a frantic firefight that ravaged half the town in a chaotic free-for-all between mercenaries, local police, criminals, empire soldiers, local militia and rebels. It was not until she was contacted by her sister, which by that point was working for the rebels, that she was persuaded to, if not help them, work for them as a hired gun. Personally, Saleen was quite curious about the rebels, having heard many romantic stories about the great adventures they partook upon at local taverns and bars. Believing that an experience within the rebels was just what her artistic integrity needed, Saleen decided to join them. She only hopes none of the rebels she met would remember her from her last meeting with them.

I'm not gonna comment on anything on the history, not read it.
Armour) Metal armours gonna get you killed. Lasers are hot and heat things up, you're gonna cook in that suit. Duraplast is the standard for most armours, or it could be plasteel.... one of the two. Basically its made to be heat absorbing so you don't just cook.
The onesie isn't too bad.
You probably won't get to go into battle with mix-match painted armour.
If it doesn't cover your whole face, it's quite ineffectual for zero-g.
Rangefinder just call them holobinoculars :P
Everything else, I'll leave up to Seuss as I'm not a GM or a Co-GM. I just know my shiiit.
Fighting instinct? Having had to live on one's own for a good amount of time? She's had to have been a bit of a scrapper. Learning how to fight comes with that?
They hit the flank, causing confusion. Not everyone is focusing on her all at once. She came from obscuring smoke and cover, swiftly at that to boot. I was under that assumption at least.
Sensitivity grants her a little additionally quick reaction time and agility. She's also rather acrobatic. See her skills/abilities on her CS? .___.

Looks fine.
As a general word, they don't have stormtroopers on site yet...but the backup for the bounty hunters do happen to be COMPFORCE assault troops, who are more enthusiastic than trained. Their 'training' is brutal live fire stuff that favors the lucky rather than the skilled, so they're way more balls than brains.
They do, however, take exception to the way Slooga's offloading their equipment on the black market... ;)
Which is a thought that their fire isn't all that accurate. Lucky more than skilled, essentially.

thanks, I've not really gotten into the scientific metallurgy of star wars yet ^^ I'll edit it so it says her armor pieces is made out of duraplast and her helmet is full face and air tight, not to worry about that.
as for her flagrant fashion, it's not like her armor consists of all the colors of the rainbow xD It is mostly black with some minor silver lining, which is a very neutral and not-so-noticable color, and can more easily meld into most shadowy backgrounds. black is after all a color that fits very well into a large spectrum of different colors.

Even so. Can I just point out you
a) Ran on front of all your allies meaning that the chance of friendly fire increases. b) Ran STRAIGHT at them, taking no damage (Lasers are fast, and you have little Jedi training. I don't care how acrobatic you are that's pretty Space Magicy) c) You then proceeded to find weakpoints in armour thats designed to withstand against laser bolts on one individual, then 4-5 more.
The Force to those who can weild it expertly can only push it so far, you're barely trained dodging all these shots and not getting a scratch. She was six when order 66 was enacted, she would just be learning how to lift a stone if that.
And from your sheet she's used to hopping on speeder bikes, not jumping around like a maniac. As I said, I have no real power here though this seems quite out of tone of the RP and the reason we didn't have Jedi running around before now.
Give them a week IC and we'll have ISDs and Inquisitors after us.
I should point out in debates such as this I am quite often blunt which some people find offensive, you shouldn't. It's just the way I say things, as if I feel something needs said I damn well say it.
In terms of armor, I highly recommend a vest arrangement rather than full plate; Stormtrooper armor is patterned after Mando armor, but it's not a full armor and isn't necessarily going to protect from blasters anyway -- it's more intended to give them an oxygen supply in boarding actions. The Mando stuff is a whole different deal.
Metal armors tend to wear characters down without being particularly efficacious against blaster bolts. The Liberators work with plate carriers and so forth, but the blaster bolts get through it, so weight vs protection is a negative cost/benefit in the end. What the armor is good for is protecting against fragments and the such, but it's always a question of bulk and discomfort as well.
So then, onto powers.
Let's be completely honest, cutting down bounty hunters with bladed weapons five at a time really isn't the style of this RP -- and because this is an RP about the infantry, the realities of that are bound to be applied here, even to force-sensitives. This isn't really an RP for uber badass characters to just slice through faceless enemies, and if the enemies seem a little soft now, the reality is that mdk and I are already working to rectify that situation to create a more challenging tactical environment.
But the bottom line is that if she's going to attempt to engage five at a time like that, bounty hunters are probably better prepared for hand to hand combat than stormtroopers and it's actually a more dangerous option to close with them like that, rather than establishing fire superiority and using it on them -- bounty hunters see lots of vibroblade attacks and species, like Gamorreans and Weequay, that specialize in melee. They're prepared for that.
So she's probably going to take some damage in the process of a close assault like that, flank and concealment or no.

Sorry. I thought they were more or less fodder. I'll make some edits then. Only one or two. Enough to distract them, and then disengage.

-snipped most of it for sake of not creating massive amounts of stuff in OOC, sorry. ^^;-
I was under the thought that Vibro-blades can actually cut through blaster armor really well. They're meant to withstand blasters, not stabby-items.
Even still, I see both yours and @HeySeuss's Point, I'll be dumbing down her post a lot. Just give me time to edit. ^^;
Really sorry about causing so many problems. :(
(Now that I further understand the RP's mindset, I'll be posting accordingly. Again, apologies.)
EDIT: I edited the post. Only killed the first one since element of surprise and wounded another. Then dodged back behind smoke and cover to draw her pistol. Is that better?
i went with a series of tactically positioned fat duraplast plates. despite the fancy look, it's after all homemade armor by an artist, not exactly a specialist :P
Don't worry, Feisty. Maybe you can work together with Saleen. She has smoke grenades for your approach and can provide covering fire :D
(just hope she doesn't accidentally toss a neurotoxin grenade instead)
I'm fundamentally okay with a failed bounty hunter that seems to be more flash than substance in the sense that she really doesn't actually have a strong infantry background compared to the less well-equipped Uslam Liberators who are, nonetheless, experienced and tough fighters that no one wants to meet in a dark alley, as the bounty hunters are figuring out.
Seems like a humorous twist that they'd get a replacement that looks good to go and she's actually an artist type that joined the Rebels for the artistic integrity. That's bound to make a bunch of ex-guerrilla miners scratch their heads.
On the other hand, please lose the heavy repeating blaster. Light repeating is still man portable, but heavy is tripod and power pack material. Once that happens, yeah, approved.
@HeySeuss don't worry about the heavy repeater type thingy, that was just me misusing the weapon terminology. i actually meant she had a infantry portable repeater. the reason why i said "heavy" was because it was a relatively big-light repeater, if it makes any sense xD
also, before I post, could you give me a quick summary of where and vs who the main action is happening right now? i've been reading the IC, tho haven't made it to the end yet, so i'd appreciate a quick summary to get up to speed ^^
Basically, the Liberators, including the LT and Slooga, got into a bad deal with some of Slooga's contacts and bounty hunters showed up. The Victory Class star destroyer Lionesse is on the way back into the system on a signal from the hunter and COMPFORCE reinforcements are on their way. A hack team that had to scrub a mission at Ganatoo Spaceport just engaged the bounty hunters on a flank in an attempt to buy the rest of the platoon breathing room so they can try to get the upper hand of that firefight.
The intent is then to pull back to the shuttle and get back to the Intruder.
