So to expound on my idea to 'schedule' the tournaments, hoping that this will fuel more discussion - as that's the point, for us to talk about potential changes.
Assuming there are four tournaments a year, the calender would look similar to this:
King/Queen of the Rookie or Rookie Tournament: The name may be misleading, as surely, it'll include people who can't be classified as rookies, though they'll likely take first priority.
Theme 1: Perhaps a slightly realistic/powered melee tournament, I.E: Dyayun vs Tre'Yan type of characters and matches.
Theme 2: A sci-fi themed tournament, where the characters use futuristic characters, based less in magic and more in technology.
King/Queen of the Arena: Open to top seven/fifteen people in the rankings, not counting the winner of the Rookie tournament, who will be granted a spot. Serves as top tournament of the year, between the elite.
Futhermore: Hosts can still host the tournaments and have the judging power, and other sorts of abilities, like picking the power level. I'll for sure host the final tournament, and maybe the first. I'll be allowed to participate in the last one, under the rule that a secondary judge will judge any and all matches I'm involved in.
Another thing I'm interested in talking about is the points for losing. I'm fine with the points for winning/draw, but it seems odd that I can, in theory, lose a match and immediately jump several spots up in the rankings(some have already).
And the last thing are tournament point structures? Perhaps it is just me, but I'm not a fan of getting points for every match in a tournament. Perhaps a change to the system, allowing for the top three to get a set amount of points, instead of per match.
Again, hopefully this fuels some good conversation and whatnot; we have 20+ people involved in the rankings, and many express no opinion on such things, which is disheartening, as I would rather not just make decisions without any input.
and if you have any ideas/suggestions feel free to bring them up.
