[OOC] Forgotten Times [One Piece rp]

In this world, there are four great seas, separated by two rings which wrap around the world. The first is a ring of land, and the second, a ring of ocean surrounded by waters where there are neither currents nor winds.
In another time, these seas would be known as the Blues, and the rings would be the Red Line and Grand Line. In another time, a man known as Gol D. Roger would explore the Grand Line and conquer it, challenging pirates to find his treasure, the One Piece with his dying breath...
Whether that time is far in the future of this world or far in the past, it cannot be said for certain. All that matters now is the tale of the brave adventurers who've taken it to themselves to conger the Last Ocean. These adventurers hail from the four Seas, and they yearn to discover what answers this world has to offer. This is the tale of one of those crews of brave men and women.

Name: Los Tiburon, The Shark of the Land

Age: 33

Gender: Male

Role on the ship: Food Procurement Specialist (Fisherman), Cooks assistant.

Weapon/Devil fruit: Sea Wrestling, a style of wrestling similar to Fishman Karate of his own invention.

Appearance: 7ft tall, well muscled and tan. Never wears a shirt, but does wear swim trunks and shoes that can be easily kicked off. Is never seen without his mask, which is stylized to look like a sharks face complete with fin on the top of his head.

Personality: A loud and boisterous man with a passion for the dramatic. The type of man who would never open a door when he could kick it down, and would never consider the door at all if the opportunity to burst through the wall arouse. A complete Face, he would never betray someones trust or use dirty tactics during a fight, but his tenancy to showboat and not end things right away can come back to bite him.

Is not a smart man, but is a passionate man.

Background: Hailing from Lucha Island, somewhere in the archipelago of your heart, the boy who would become Los Tiburon was not the shining example of masculinity he is today. Indeed, he was quite small and scrawny. Looking to become something more than a simple fisherman's son he sought out a great wrestling master that lived on an out of the way cape. The master took pity on this small, sad, scrawny, stupid looking boy and said yes, of course he would train him. His first task was to go out into the shallows and catch fish with his bare hands so as to improve his hand eye coordination. So the boy would go out, day after day catching fish, the master always promising that the next day they would start for real.

This was not true. The old master merely wanted dinner.

He died before he told Los Tiburon this.

Refusing to be deterred, and taking the old mans only lesson to heart, Los Tiburon has been wrestling fish ever since. Many types of fish, and he has grown strong doing so. He has vowed to defeat everything that swims in the ocean, and was in the process of this quest when he suplexed a tiger shark up out of the ocean and onto the deck of the ship before calling for someone to do a count. He's been on the ship ever since.

Hm... a good ship name for us,should not be scary, I agree with Janger on that. Maybe a ship name that can have a good pet name of affection too?

Reckless Disregard is one of my favorites....but that does not count because I totally cheated using this

@Gentlemanvaultboy lol Well Now I know with who my character will end up headbutting with. Considering she does not like having anyone around when cooking. XP But I am positive with time she would warm up to Los, no doubt there.

I think we should have a ship that has a name with golden or diamond in its name. So it shows we are both greedy in searching for treasure and symbolizes that we are the shining example of pirate crews

Name: Nautilus(???)

Weapon: Anchor, fists, and whatever he can throw
Devil fruit: Unknown name however it is a Paramecia type of Devil Fruit. The fruit allows Nautilus to grow physically larger, making him stronger, more durable, and heavy, but at the cost of speed. This ability caps at 40 feet at which point Nautilus will be unable to move what so ever and he will weigh at the very least a dozen tons, most likely more.

Appearance: Not even the man himself remembers what he looks like "under the hood". Nautilus is massive, reaching ten feet tall and as wide as three men. When his Devil Fruit ability activates the suit he is stuck in glows with an inner power. His great size has caused him to be a little clumsy at times but on the fields of battle he has his own kind of grace, nothing refined but smooth and with purpose.

Personality: Nautilus has an easy personality. He never speaks more than he has to and when he does it is short and to the point. When he has nothing to worry about Nautilus like to sit around and sleep since pleasures like eating good food or feeling the wind on your skin are no longer possible. Sometimes, Nautilus will fall into melancholy moods where he will be quieter than usual and hide somewhere quiet...not an easy feat really given present company and his size. Finally when it comes to battle, Nautilus faces all opponents with blank face determination and the ferocity of an ocean storm.

Background: Nautilus has always been a... adventurous sort. As a child he would run about and find new things around his town. Rocks, leaves, insects, a cat, and many more. Eventually this curiosity for the unknown left him in the employ of a doctor whose name he cannot remember, as if it has been scrubbed from his mind. The doctor was not the nicest of men however he was no villain, more amoral than anything. Nautilus and the doctor took part in many experiments, most were mundane things like combine these chemicals together or what happens if we put this and that together. However there were many more...exciting experiments going on. It was during on of this more exciting experiments where Nautilus was locked inside his suit. It was simple in theory, the suit was meant to allow people to travel along the ocean floor with some added physical improvements. For all intents and purposes the experiment was a success, minus for the fact that it was now locked with no way of opening. Life changed for Nautilus after that, not immediately but change it did. He began to forget things more easily, small things at first, but eventually he could hardly remember his name. Then came the fruit. How it happened he does not know, all that he does is that the lab was destroyed and he was at the center of it.

After that Nautilus chose his name and began to travel. Hiring himself out to whoever would take the giant. Surprisingly he found himself a capable warrior and began to carve a name for himself as reliable muscle. Nautilus came to be hired by Simona's crew due to an...altercation between his employer and Simona's crew. The captain seemed like a good man, along with the other crewmembers, and he paid well. His only condition was to not look in the cargo hold. Being just a hire on, Nautilus never questioned it until Simon's ship attacked. The "good" captain was a slave trader and, when Nautilus found out, flew into a rage. Destroying most of the ship in the process. Luckily Simona and her crew had saved the slaves before the whole thing went under. Nautilus had turned himself in to Simona but eventually he was allowed to join the crew due to his rejection of the captain and general kindheartedness.

@Pathfinder The name and age are fine. No worries there ^^ About the devil fruit, name it. I suggest ''Maxi Maxi no mia'' Because the effects are opposite to Mini mini no mia. Or maybe Ōkina ōkina no mia as in Big big fruit? That fruit shrinks the user yours grow it. XP

One question would Nautilus be still curious and such? A bookworm maybe thanks to the experiments he surely would want to learn and read no? What I wonder is would Nautilus be a scholar kind of sort beside the fighter?
Or is he just a fighter because he forgot knowledge beside the fact who he is?

Appearance:

Name: Kazuma Gintsuki

Age: 22

Gender: Male

Nicknames/Aliases: Kaz, Lightning Rod, The Wolf of the West Blue.

Role: ?

Abilities & Skills: Kazuma is a talented Martial Artist, having spent his childhood training with his father who was a vice admiral in the navy. He is adept in many styles, but focuses primarily on his family's secret style Raiken (Roughly: deceptive blade) which focuses on lightning quick movements and jabs/ slashes that cut as though the flat of the hand was a bladed weapon. These abilities were enhanced by his devil fruit powers.

He is also a talented strategist/ tactician, having been raised to think like a commander. He was well educated by the world government before going rogue.

Devil Fruit

Name: Shokku shokku no mi

Type: Paramecia

Effects: It allows the user to manipulate electricity in their environment, generate electrical discharges, and control the electrical charges in their own body.

Techniques:

Shock step: A single burst of electrical energy is passed through the body to allow a lighting quick dash in any direction
Static discharge: He sends arcs of static electricity in all directions causing various results from electrocution to overheating of all nearby metallic objects.
Lightning bolt: Pretty obvious, only has a range of about 20 feet.
Overcharge: Kazuma is able to overcharge every cell in his body to extreme levels allowing him to think faster, move faster, hit harder, etc. However, this can be dangerous if pushed too far, or used for too long.
Weaknesses: Although He has control over electricity, his body naturally draws electricity to itself, and if he takes too much in it can cause severe damage; however it would have to be a massive amount. Using any of his electrical abilities for prolonged periods can cause his body to overheat sending him into heat stroke. Water can disrupt the intended path of his attacks. Cannot shock through any insulating material.

Personality: Kazuma is a strong, and confident man. He is proud of who he is and follows a strict code of honour, despite the fact that he has been conflicted over that code in the past. In good company, he is friendly, outspoken, even charming. Though, he emotionally keeps people at arms length, because emotions tend to complicate things; if things get too emotionally heavy, Kazuma will often attempt to make light of the situation with humour. He still struggles internally with his past, but no one would know it to look at him; he generally seems content and perfectly stable. In combat, or similar difficult situations, Kazuma is cool headed and intuitive. He thrives under pressure and never relents from the path he has chosen.

Biography: Kazuma was raised by his father, on a navy base in the north blue; his mother was never so much as mentioned as he grew up. Their relationship was very close, and he learned everything he knows from that great man. As his father used to say: "The world government may not be perfect, but I believe they are our best chance at true peace: that is something I will give my life to." Kazuma decided to follow a similar code of honour, and find something worth giving his life for.

When Kazuma was 20 years old, and an officer in training with the navy, everything changed. There were rumblings of a coup taking place at the Toriyama navy base, and everyone was a suspect. Tension built for months while those with power positioned themselves, and those with a lower rank tried to stay unnoticed. Just when it seemed like they had avoided the storm that could have been, the base erupted in battle. Kazuma's father was among the casualties, and those responsible had orchestrated everything to appear as though Vice Admiral Gintsuki was the perpetrator all along. They received a major promotion, and Kazuma was threatened with execution if he ever followed in his father's dishonorably mutinous ways.

Kazuma's world was upside down, but after a few weeks he made an attempt at returning to normal. Many of the men he knew were loyal to his father, and could not believe the lies they were being told. The base was changing, factions were forming, and Kazuma was lost in a whirlwind of emotion; until he discovered a folder amongst his father's belongings. It was all the evidence that been gathered against those that were involved in the coup, and as it turned out, even some of the chief commanders and admirals were involved. Without even thinking about it, Kazuma headed for the armory; a few friends following behind wondering what he's up to. With his father's keys he unlocked the vault, and discovered the devil fruit within (along with various other weaponry.) without hesitation, Kazuma grabbed the fruit and ate it. He immediately felt the power of the Shokku Shokku no mi flowing through him. His friends, in disbelief just watched for a minute, until one finally gathered the courage to put a stop to it. "Kaz, what the hell?"

The only response Kazuma offered them, was to throw his father's evidence on the floor at their feet. Within minutes the base erupted into a warzone once again. Kazuma headed straight for the new admiral's office only to find a trap of 20 armed guards waiting for him. Even with all those who had chosen to fight the usurpers, Kazuma and a dozen others barely managed to escape with a scooner, and their lives. The group became known as the Mutineers, a band of pirates formerly of the navy. A former captain had become the head of their crew by default and they set out to no where in particular looking for revenge on the government they once trusted.

In the following months, their crew had seen a few minor victories, and a number of crushing defeats. They were seen as enemies to everyone: pirate, navy, and civilian alike. Though Kazuma pressed on in hopes of keeping their crew together, they ultimately began to fall apart. That is why at the next shore they hit (Logue Town) Kaz left his crew to drink his problems away. After spending what money he had left, he wandered the streets for a sign as to what to do next. He ended up befriending a wolf in the streets and following it back to its home, which just so happened to be a pirate ship. He took it as a sign and joined the crew, after explaining why he had been sleeping on their ship.

Other: Kazuma has only had is devil fruit power for a little less than 2 years, and is still learning how to harness its full power. He is often driven by his curiosity, which at times leads him into trouble. He also has a bit of a weakness towards alcohol and beautiful women (nothing over the top though)

This is my proposal for a char. I left his role blank because I wanted to see what roles needed to be filled. I have traditionally made this Char a strategist/ tactician, but since that wasn't in your extensive list, he would also be a capable navigator or could be considered a scholar as well (given his intense curiosity and his education.) Let me know what your thoughts are, if you intend to accept my character.

I'd say Nautilus is still curious about things but realizes that he can't do much due to his size and clumsiness. As far as actual knowledge goes, he'll know the doctors science when he sees it. Beyond that he has forgotten the more sophisticated things.

Name: Flynn "Black Hand" Chaucer

Age: 29

Gender: Male

Role on the ship: Doctor/Flirt/(Assassin? Thief?)

Weapon/Devil fruit: He fights with his own body, using Rokushiki. He also uses a couple of black gloves which contain a plate of sea stone each to nullify devil fruits. Rarely he does resort to wield scalpels.

Appearance:

Personality: Flynn is a smooth talker and a shameless liar. He prefers to appear as witty and eloquent, if only because he's an unrepentant skirt-chaser and womanizer. He appears shallow, superficial and hedonistic, and he's only interested in women and money. He however, follows a strict observance of the medical ethic, and he prefers talking and healing than fighting. Flynn's depths are rather blurry and obscure, and he doesn't allow many others to dwell within. If one can break the shell, Flynn is a man full of cynicism and remorse, who paints himself as worse than he really is as some sort of atonement of the many deaths he caused when working as hitman for the World Government. In the rare ocassion he is angry, he isn't one for half measures: He simply is throughout, sudden and unrelenting.

Background: Flynn was one of many street urchins drafted into Cipher Pol in order to become assassins. Halfway through the training, he began harboring his doubts about taking lives. Eventually, his doubts about killing a medic he had been ordered to got the best of him, and so he decided that no matter what crime that man had committed, if he were to spare his life, many others could be saved. He became a dropout and an outlaw, and joined the medic in his travels to keep saving people while evading the rest of the World Government. Eventually, Flynn decided to try his hand at healing people. As it turned out, he had a knack for it. The revelation and the satisfaction of saving people's lives changed him greatly and he began to appreciate the good things of life again (albeit in a selfish womanizer manner). Having heard of a ship with beatiful women pirates, he decided to snuck in to get a peek. He failed epically and was caught by them, but managed to talk the rest of the crew into not beating him to a pulp and let him join the adventure.

Name: Marc de Ruyter

Age: 26

Gender: Male

Role on the ship: Engineer: Shipwright/blacksmith/maintaince

Abilities and skills: Marc is a great craftsman and engineer. His creativity and out of the box thinking allow his to come up with solutions that are able to fix nearly everything. He has a keen eye for weak spots, which is not only limited to material and structural weaknesses, but also to injuries in persons and openings in defences. His fighting skills are average at best, but he is able to handle himself in a fight. His fighting style is mainly defensive while waiting for an opening. He's also adept at fighting with his tools.

Equipment: Marc's main weapon is a standard issue marine-style cutlass and standard issue flintlock pistol. Other than this he has a tool belt with an assortment of tools, including, but not limited to, hammers, wrenches, saws, nails, chisels, ropes and flask with some rum or beer. He also has a toolbox, with even more tools, but he usually leaves this in his cabin.

Appearance

Personality: Marc is a nice guy. He's usually in for a char, especially over a pint of ale. He's clever and creative. He's not one for violence or fighting and prefers to keep his head cool and talk things out. That is, until someone messes with his works, be it the ship or some other project. He's very protective of his friends and ship. He isn't impressed nor fooled easily and likes to figure out how things work. He likes to maintain and improve the ship. In his spare time he likes to read books or drink and play dice or cards.

Background: Marc was born and raised in a small city as the son of a blacksmith and carpenter. His youth was rather normal, without many exciting events and he was taught the skills of blacksmithing and carpeting by his father and mother. At his twelfth he signed up with the marines and gained further training in these disciplines, along with combat training. When he graduated he was given his cutlass and pistol. He expected to work on a ship, but instead he was kept on shore, designing and repairing ships. After complaining about this, he was bullied into staying, the officer threatening to kill his parents. This continued for several years, until he heard his parents died in a bandit raid. Angered because of this loss and the inadequacy of the marines he sabotaged some the ships he was working on, killed the officer, stole a small ship and deserted. He ended up setting up a shipyard for pirates, repairing ships for a fee. Yet the longing for the sea remained. Eventually the ship of Abigail moored in need of repair. Marc was impressed by the quality of the ship. During this time marines raided the shipyard. With the help of Abigail and her crew they fought them off, but the shipyard was destroyed. Without a reason to stay, Marc joined the crew as the shipwright.
