[OOC] Plague of the North

I want to refrain from high fabtasy wizardry and stick to more Game of Thrones style. Little things mean big things, like fire immunity and fortune-telling.

I always appreciated the muted style better. Makes things much more significant. I thought Lord of the Rings was selective in it's use of magic.... Until I started watching Game of Thrones.

Well magic being all mysterious and very limited is all good and fun, but I will personally always prefer the high fantasy ones better. Big explosions, lightings raining from the skies, giant monsters, and spells that could level cities...ahhh.. <3 and now I feel like watching Slayers again.

To each his own ^_^. I understand not every world must have insane magic and stuff, but in some it works in other it doesn't. ~ This one indeed works better like it is now, than it would be if it goes all in on magic.

I think magic should be a tool held by the few, feared by the many and should be sufficiently powerful enough to warrant that fear, but should be able to be beaten by a sword all the same to ensure that mages get to live atleast until their 18th. If they were too powerful they'd be killed at birth, and if they wouldn't be powerful at all, nobody would fear them and they'd be useless.

Of course it is, sadly over the top fantasy tv series seem to be non existant since I suppose the special effects cost would be over the rool :3

Consider how much GoT costs per episode: a couple of millions.
Now imagine that with 3x the after effects editing.. yeah.

yeah, but that's why we have animes with magics so over the top, you could obliterate cities with a single spell blast and laugh at the destruction!

Now that's a realigion that will suit him perfectly! But here is the question, how does a man like him, who by now is probably used to have all the people around to order and maybe a woman in the bed every night, survive in the consano, I mean I doubt he would be bringing any slaves or servants or anything.
