"I see," said Aban. He went to collect more firewood, but paused, drawing his dagger. He approached Ilana, handed her the dagger hilt first. "Just in case."
"I look past someones looks, it is not love or anything if they only look at the looks of a person....that is what makes human women so shallow to" she said
"Go figure an angel looks into the heart," said Aban. He stoked the coals of the fire, making it burn brighter. He was curious. "Ilana, what do you see in my soul?"
"You are pure, purer than any other human out there even purer than your friend Lyon who is completely corrupted" she shivered thinking about it when she had seen him in the clearing with Aban's "body" and shook it off. "You only did the jobs of killing due to the honor and promise you gave to the one who hired you" she said
"... Pure?" he asked. "How can I be pure? I'm a human being." Aban kept his gaze locked on the flames. "I killed because my parents died when I was little, and the paladin order took me in and trained me. It is about loyalty and honor, not money."
"Thats what makes you pure" she said looking at him and felt her hear start to pound and she looked back at the fire to force her heart to slow down. "You did it out of loyalty and honor most would do what you did just for the money"
"I wonder..." Aban said. "I've been practicing a soul examine technique in order to strengthen my excision abilities. I might be able to see your soul, Ilana."
Aban nodded, his palm glowing. He set his palm on her chest, just above her breasts, and closed his eyes. "I see it," he murmured. "Your soul... your soul is spotless. There is no blemish, no marring... you are pure."
