~THE AGE OF X~



"Beware he who fights monsters, so that he doesn't becomes one of them himself..."





Earth, at the eve of the 22nd century...

X and Zero, the legendary maverick hunters, had succeeded in their most difficult mission ever, avoiding the collision between the mammoth space colony Eurasia and the Earth by miraculously activating its trusters at the last possible moment, set it to crash on the Moon, instead.

However, both reploids were caught in the gigantic explosion that was set off by their lifelong nemesis, Sigma, in a last spiteful attempt to take the maverick hunters down with him.

They were declared K.I.A. after months of grueling search over the colony's debris yielded no other result than the finding of Zero's charred saber, which is currently under tight security at the Maverick Wars Museum. A monument to remember their sacrifice had been raised in the place of the statue destroyed by Sigma at the beginning of the Eurasia incident.

Without Sigma's influence, the maverick hunters were finally able to rout the remainder of the rebellious reploids that still carried the dreaded maverick virus, ushering in a new era of peace.

However it was not for long...

A mysterious transmission coming from Elysium, a fortress that had been built on the dark side of the moon, reached the Earth, it said:

"Attention all reploids and humans of planet Earth, I hereby declare the foundation of Elysium a realm where we can live side by side, in peace. My emissaries will be ready to take anyone who wishes to join us, all you have to do is meet them and ask. I pressure no one to join us, however, hostility will not be tolerated. This is no revolution, no upraising, just the fulfillment of the dream that I have been built to. If you believe in my words I beg you to join Elysium...

I'm X and I hope you don't forget our sacrifice...


The message caused an uproar of proportion never seen before and soon enough the Maverick Hunters had to be dispatched in order to quell it.




Maverick Hunters HQ

Amidst the shadowy war room Signas, the commander of all maverick hunters issues a debriefing regarding your mission. The imposing reploid speaks in an even voice, just as Alia projects the necessary date over the room's monitors.

"As a member of the Maverick Hunters, your unit will be dispatched along with several others to deal with the center of the riot, the monument to X and Zero, your mission is twofold.

First, quell the rebellion and convince the people that the message is nothing but a forgery created by someone trying to defile X's memory.

Second, try to unravel who might be the culprit behind this case. I don't believe Sigma's involved this time after all, he's been obliterated along with both X and Zero after Eurasia exploded. I'm sure you'll find the true during the battle."


Just as Signas was about to issue the scramble order, Alia interjected, "Beware, however, our scouts reported the presence of a maverick amongst the innocent crowd. I pray my hunch is wrong, but the reports said that the maverick was riding an armor..."

"Very well then," Signas said, while making a cutting gesture with his right hand, "Maverick Hunters, SCRAMBLE!"




Ok, now to what's important.

This is a Megaman X RP where the players will be members of the maverick hunters trying to uncover the truth about the "X Incident", as such you'll play as reploids, since no human can hope to match a maverick in combat.

I hope you've read the introduction above so'll not dawdle on the setting's background, other than make it clear that this is an AU following a different turn for the events of X5. If you've read up to this point, put the name of the best Megaman X theme song at the bottom of your CS, the correct answer should be "Wild Fang" of X8, but you're free to disagree. Just search on Youtube if you don't know the original theme songs of the X franchise it's worth the effort... really.

Bio:

Despite being a super spy/infiltrator for Sigma back in the day, Merro is actually quite shy and is uneasy around other Mavericks she doesn't know. After being caught by Maverick Hunter HQ, Merro spent a year in prison; that was until, she was asked as a last resort to become a double agent for the HQ. She accepted the offer under one condition, that there would be no record kept of her alliance with Sigma. Secretly Merro hated working for anyone, (especially Sigma) but she had a natural knack for thievery and hacking and she actually enjoyed doing those things so she worked so she could improver her skills. Due to the fact that her record was wiped, she re-entered to become a Maverick hunter and after she was accepted, was sent to some random unit as a new Hunter. Only the really high ranked officials know about her past. So Merro is stuck doing low level reconnaissance missions, in her spare time on jobs, she hacks into the Maverick Hunter HQ databases and gathers information on all Hunters recorded and gets a laugh at watching how poorly other spies are doing at their jobs.

Man you have no idea what balance is if you're running stealth and high aerial mobility into one package.

I'm interested, I haven't seen a Megaman RP in ages, and a Megaman X RP was the first one I've ever joined. Will make character soon as I get an idea of how strong one can make their character.

@Lvl Down Ever since I saw your original idea I thought that Merro seemed familiar to me somehow. Now I know the source of the feeling, she has high vibes of Cyber Peacock, she might do really well if I throw in a cyberspace mission.

That said, I have to say that you overdid it a little in her aerial mobility, I have an idea that might work for you, based on the fact that she's an infiltration spec reploid. Drop the number of air dashes to one and drop the hover, because this much rocket power requires legs far bulkier than Merro should have, though you can keep the triple jump as well as add the ability to grab walls like X's Shadow Armor, I think that the ability to attack from unexpected angles that this feature provides is way more useful then zillions of air dashes (the Shadow Armor couldn't do even one, so you're still much more mobile than X).

Other than that, Merro is really ok to go, so if you're willing to compromise you can do the changes and post her directly on the CS tab without reposting her here. Also remember to add something about her personality and to follow my little request.

I'm sorry if I seem boring or unreasonable but I want to keep things under control for the better of us all. Also the fact that Merro is a female reploid was an unexpected bonus for a reason I can't tell yet.




@Sho Minazuki That's cool, I'm waiting to see your idea, then. And indeed, Megaman fanworks in general are very rare these days, but I guess this is to be expected since Capcom has neglected the franchise as whole for a long time, thus, Megaman is becoming a title that only the older gamers remember fondly. Which is a pity, if you ask me.

Answering your question about power levels (and this one should serve as a guideline to all who wish to join) the answer is simple, keep it with the reasonable range of above a common Maverick Hunter GI Joe power and below that of elite fighter reploids like Magma Dragoon and Colonel. Your characters power is bound to increase as the game progresses until you become just a few steps bellow X's nigh unlimited power.

@KoL My name is Nightrunner. I'm sixteen years old and in love with the franchise. The classic collection for GC was the first game I ever bought. I loved X. I love Zero more. Never played ZX or Star Force, though. I'm going through MMBN. I'm younger than much of the fan base, but I yearn for the Blue Bomber to make a return.

Forgive my standoffishness, but my space for RPs is reaching a limit with several upcoming games already holding a time slot, but being about Mega Man grabbed my attention. The setting of the X-Games solidified my interest. But the OOC is far more promising than the iCheck. I'm likely to join up. I'm actually working on a Battle Network game, not that I'm here to advertise, just explaining my nerd love.

You should play ZX and Star Force. ZX will be your thing if you loved Zero, and Star Force is underrated.

Also I'm pretty sure I have too many skills there, I'll probably take some of those out and make a second hider for a list of stuff he'll learn later...

Well I made the changes. Didn't think she would be considered strong as she really can't fight. (I like to be creative with my solutions. Its just more fun that way! XD ) It does make sense though that she couldn't have some of those capabilities due to how slender her frame is. Not much of a fan of Cyber Peacock.... I know the main enemies and heroes back stories well enough though I don't know Peacock's story. I was actually a little sad to be compared to someone I really hated but its good to know that there is so much more of the X universe that I can learn about!

Thanks for the advice though, I really like the changes to it.

Can't wait to get started.

P.S: I think I should avoid Raven so Merro doesn't get kicked out!

@Sho MinazukiI think Raven is ok, most of what he can do are variations of the same thing, in a nut shell, he can kick and shoot., though when it comes to that marine you should choose between charge shots or rapid fire since both abilities are more or less opposite of one another in terms of reploid design. Of you go for the charge shot you can Zeke all the skills that come after Charged Clip and add the ability to hold a charge shot in each hand and two shoot both held charges at once to form a larger blast, both of those abilities are common in old buster type reploids. If not just delete charged clip and you're ok.

Choose your option and then post Raven straight into the CS tab.

As a scout you'll already be at the scene when the others arrive and have privileged information on the mysterious maverick identity, not that I need to say who he's to anyone reading this intro.




@Nightrunner I dunno why, but I think I be seen you around in some other RP I would like to join. Anyway, I'm waiting for your idea of you wanna join us.




Another info, I'll post the opening IC post been today and Sunday all the approved players can follow it then, but please don't do more than three posts per day, because my time is too short to monitor a spam game efficiently.

Maverick Hunter Unit: Commander D's

Appearance: Bonzai is a reploid that resembles a baboon in some respects. His hair includes a short pointy beard, connected to facial hair covering all but the front of his face. Though he wears clothes, typically formal wear, he has a black beard, long arms, pink-toned skin, and red & blue stripes beneath his eyes. His eyes are blue, and he has pale, but somewhat pinkish skin. The outfit he usually wears consists of a dark green formal equivalent of a trenchcoat with a red undershirt. His pants are also green.

Weapon Sytems:
External Systems:
  • Bio Buster: A buster pistol that can fire regular bursts, charge, or be set to a mode in which it projects large amounts of energized microbes and scattered cells belonging to trees. The result is a heavier shot that is even more damaging when in high humidity or aquatic areas because of the water-thriving organisms within.
  • Peel Traps: Yellow traps resembling banana peels can be tossed. If anyone is in range, they will latch onto a body part and wrap around as much as they can before being stopped. If not stopped, the victim will be wrapped in a large cocoon.
  • Shell Bomb: Resembling a coconut's shell, he can toss baseball sized machines that land and release a kinetic burst, releasing biological needles, chunks of the heavy shell, and a large amount of force.
  • Vine Whips: He has long green whips made of synthetic vine lighter than real ones, but stronger and more damaging. Upon landing on a target, they constrict and extend sharp pricks all along the distance of them.


Internal Systems:
  • Pinwheel Barrage: He can do cartwheels and give crippling blows to several enemies successively, using high agility and precision to land stokes against weak points.
  • Tail Strike: His tail can be used as a fighting arm instead of his hands. For example, his tail could gracefully and effectively wield a beam saber or buster while he hangs on to an enemy, or it could slap, stiffly prod, or strangle an enemy.


Elemental Resistance: Biological/Plant-Based

Elemental Weakness: Fire

Special Features:
Double Jump: Pretty self-explanatory, though he can add it in flips mid-air.

Elevator Stump: He can drop a wooden disc beneath himself that can instantly grow ten feet high without losing its flat top. It also can selectively be rooted.

Roll: He can tumble beneath the typical projectile fired, holding to the ground as long as he likes before springing up and pouncing like a cat.

Vine Swing: He can use his vine whips to grab onto higher or distant surfaces before swinging there or climbing the vine. The pricks that come out during an attack will only be around whatever he is attached to, not available to actually hurt himself.


Personality: He is fierce, capitalizing on any openings he spots in an enemy's defense. His timing and patience is masterful, he never rushes into situations he doesn't believe he can handle and he does not believe that all enemy's must be fought. His thoughtfulness can be observed when he selects who to assist or how. He is fond of the idea of protecting the defenseless, willing to even sacrifice his own life.

Bio: Bonzai Leaftrimmer started life as a wildlife observer, a job he was passionate of. But several maverick attacks later, all of his studies were reduced to nothingness. Deciding to protect what he loves, he joined the Maverick Hunters, where he has served for several years now, since slightly before the rise of Repliforce. He'd formerly been a part of Dragoon's unit, but has been reassigned since his treachery.

Other: Storm Eagle's song is jammin'. Imma go with Storm Eagle's theme.

@NightrunnerI liked your character,there's nothing that I can see that needs any changes since he's following such a tight theme, though I can't help but imagine him like a green baboon with some parts resembling vegetal life (perhaps for woodland camo?). I think he'll do well on the mandatory jungle stage.

On a second glance, perhaps you can change his elemental resistance to biological/plant based weaponry it's not such an uncommon weapon type for maverick to use and seems much more in line with Bonzai's gimmick.

On your background, since Bonzai has been in the MH before the Repliforce incident, if you like he can have been part of Dragoon's elite unit in the past, but after Dragoon betrayed the Hunters his unit was discharged and the members got shuffled into other units, Bonzai can be working under the command of the newest unit commander of the MH, who'll by the way be the players unit anyway.

You'll meet Commander D. as soon as the RP begins, don't worry.

Anyway, once you've decided on what to do just post the finished CS on the CS tab. With three players I guess we can begin already, so I'll working on the IC post right away.




Ahhh... Storm Eagle's theme brings back some frustrating memories about falling/being throw off cliffs the whole time (The only sky boss I hate more is The Skyver), but Eagle's weapon was the most OP weapon X has ever get so it was worth the suffering.

The Charged Clip is similar to Devil May Cry's charged bullets on Ebony and Ivory. The firing rate is the same, but it just shoots a barrage of slightly beefed up bullets. I guess it doesn't really matter, double charged shots will give me some more destructive power. So I'm running that.

Awesome. Cannot wait to get started. Don't know what theme to use..... :P

Perhaps i'll look at some today.

Also. s minimal shadowing allowed?
I.E: Walk up to another character ask to shake hand. They shake hands and I keep going on in my post. Obviously though, if they wouldn't shake hands than I can't do that. I've been in a few RP like this and it seems to flow more smoothly but it's just an idea.

@Lvl Down Actually, I prefer things that way, at least when it comes to NPCs, and if no one is against it, PCs too. It smooths things over to not have to wait for small things like these. Obviously no one can control other PCs without permission first, but for NPCs, as long as you keep their actions IC you can even dictate minor dialogues and such and it won't bother me.

@malmshodes Sure! I was really wanting something between 4 and 5 PCs for this RP.
