As he pinned one of the beasts to the ground Martin managed to get a good look into its eyes and saw the swirling redness staring back at him. ""Blood Magic!" He called out, warning the rest of the party. ""There's a blood mage nearby controlling these things. Possibly more than one!"

Lifting his blade high Martin brought the pommel down hard on the side of the wolf's head, knocking the helpless animal unconscious. He could've killed it easily, but somehow the idea of murdering the innocent hunter just for being unlucky enough to be used as someone's puppet made even the battle-hardened warrior uncomfortable. "Try to contain the beasts as best you can, don't hurt them unless you have to," He shouted over to the militia, most of whom had managed not to get themselves killed by the wolves' charge, "The rest of you head into the forest and try and find the maleficar."

Turning back to the party Martin gestured for the mages to huddle closer. ""I need you all to concentrate on locating the blood mage, by whatever means necessary. If they're just raiders then that's something we can deal with, but if this is some sort of directed attack trying to hit us specifically then we need to know who's after us. That means I want at least one of them still mostly alive when you're done with them, or at least in a state where we can question them."

With the deepstalkers penned in between the caltraps and the veilfire Henrietta launched a wave of elemental mines into the middle of the pack, and was swiftly rewarded with a satisfyingly diverse array of explosions which shocked, burnt and froze the beasts all at once.

The pack were panicking now though, and in their terror began leaping through the magical green flames between them and the adventurers. With most of them taken down only a half dozen of so were left, their scales soot-stained and frosted from the elemental detonations the dwarf had set off moments before. Not wanting to attract too much attention, and with her ammunition depleted for the moment, Henrietta quickly slipped into the shifting shadows of the underground passage, taking cover as she quickly began to tinker with her remaining supplies, craft more mines.
